What does Ripple have to do with any of this?

It's filthy fiat, forget about that. The price in $ is completely irrelevant.
Obsolete capitalist expansionist running dog pig blood money has no place in the forward-thinking disruptive revolutionary technologies, Comrade!

NotLambChop is definitely in the orange.. Probably lacks the intelligence for sophism So... Which scamcoin is that again? And why do you Bitcoiners always reach for five-dollar words when ur butthurt?

... Cryto-currencies are not like fiat...if everyone just accepted that I think there would be a lot less pain.
If by "survival" you mean one neckbeard with two netbooks continuing to mine Bitcoin, I agree. If. OTOH, you mean "not making everyone holding for more than a day poor," that's sorta iffy... Let me spell this out: Survival = i can send any amount i want anywhere in the world and get 3 confirmation at around 30min for few cents Survival != $ X As long as you enjoy sending meaningless binary data around the world, you're fine, ya.

time to test the theory that the price doesn't matter (It doesn't) but still. Hurts.
I'm more interested in the theory about how mining is dead... Doesn't look like. Mining isn't dead. Miners will keep their rigs on untill (hosting costs) > (price of coin mined). Or a more profitable SHA256 coin comes along

is crypto done?? bitcoin is the crypto Jesus, it has died and been resurrected so many times it as if it was immortal or something My pastor told me today he was tempted to sell the church's 30 bitcoins, but I convinced him to wait. As I discussed in a different web chat on this message board, I believe Jesus is testing our faith in Him. I have faith in bitcoin and believe God will shower us with the bounty of its riches once the negative energy is finally cleaned out of the system. For that to happen, we may need to drop in value a little more first. 1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs."But don't worry, bitcoin is not actual money, so it doesn't count. Tell your pastor to HODL them The spirit of Satoshi will show him the way Hallelujah! Since we're quoting scripture and all, wonder if BitChick's safe, or if her hubby is beating her severely about the face and neck?

Since I've started posting in this thread, Bitcoin price has nearly halved. Coincidence, you say?
Bitcoin price was $540 on Dec 23,2014? That's news to me. Or did you just admit to being a sock puppet? Not understanding theology & how the Holy Trinity works. Stay ignorant, heathen BTW:

... Having 120 BTC today won't make you rich unless you're able to hold onto them dump immediately and invest in something that's not failing as hard as Bitcoin.
Fixed your typo.

Isn't that pretty much what the naysayers said about the Internet in the early days? And the automobile? And the telephone? And the computer?
Can you not see that Bitcoin is steadily evolving into something more useful than when it was first released? They're making progress on scalability. Computer power is increasing much faster than the economy. We're getting better hardware wallets all the time. And multi-signature. Is there some fatal flaw that I'm missing?
Yep. "Today the Bitcoin network is restricted to a sustained rate of 7 tps due to the bitcoin protocol restricting block sizes to 1MB."-- https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/ScalabilityAltcoins are useful for testing new ideas. The best ideas will be adapted into Bitcoin, right? ... The block reward schedule, and the resultant 12% [current] yearly inflation rate is difficult to alter--impossible without a hardfork. A hardfork which must be agreed on by the majority of mining pools. TL;DR: miners would have to agree to hash for fewer coins--ain't gonna happen.
