182  Economy / Auctions / Re: TAV’s auction: Redhash 105 Gh/s ASIC miners on: September 29, 2013, 04:42:13 PM
Yap,I think Iam out. Vat here is 25%. Mrb told that he wont lower the value of Inovice. Avoiding VAT to buy on some company name is very hard. Compny must back up with legitimate papers and inovices all the funds on their bank account. So they can not so easy pay the (fair share)VAT back to me.
If somebody in EU has low VAT pm me and maybe we can work something.

you could buy it and host it in usa..

driksson is right Smiley

See our announcement at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303376.0

Well done. And congratulations on delivery.
Impressive work on separating the heat sinks. smart. looks good.
Also good work on the design on the boxes.
But why in the world use standard pc PSU? did you check the specs that i think asicminer is using? these psus are dirt cheap:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-403781-001-PROLIANT-DL380-G5-ML350-G5-ML370-G5-1000W-PSU-POWER-SUPPLY-/300976711130?pt=UK_Computing_PowerSupplies_EH&hash=item46139c25da

maybe i missed something.. and please educate me. Smiley

impressive and well done! 3TH! i'm sure you calculated to be live months earlier though being based on avalon v1..
186  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: September 27, 2013, 04:26:18 PM
So you had 2 PSUs hooked up at the same time ?
I always wondered if that would work.
Can you post a photo of the damage ?

Two PSU's shouldn't be an issue. I think quite a few people who've OC'd their box are using two, me included.

Two power supplies can be bad mojo if you ever happen to have one powered on and not the other.  Sometimes a power supply in the off state will short +12V to GND.  If this happens while the other is trying to keep things at 12V, bad things will obviously happen.
can someone else also confirm this? adding another 600w psu is clearly cheaper than replacing with one 1000w+..

i wonder why they didnt make the avalons on proliant hot swap psu.. http://m.ebay.com/itm/300976711130 35 euro and 1000w also hot swap..
187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: September 27, 2013, 12:49:42 PM
Seriously? You have not been able to produce the boards in about two weeks or what?
20.000 / 400 boards = 50 euro / board compensation. I would have paid this because your work was a venture for all of us / in the name of us.

Read again. He said -€20.000.

189  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Backward-Auction] 11 BitBurner XX running @ 8.8GH each on: September 26, 2013, 12:10:50 PM
is it allowed to reserve like this ?

2 @ 04.10.13 11:00 UTC   0,66 BTC

thanks

I doubt that i can change the rules now anymore. It would turn into a normal auction this way. And i think its not good because its possible then that others know how they can outbid you. Though its not an insurance against other bidders.
So in order to let it remain a backward auction the max amount one will bid should be kept hidden.

Agree, for what reason shall he want to out his bid? i can just buy it one hour before knowing that its sold one hour later.
Interesting to see when its being sold. I have a number in mind, waiting to see if its still available at that time.

191  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow announces 28nm 64Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/Ghash on: September 25, 2013, 03:21:07 PM
At today’s Bitcoin price and network hashing rate, X-1 would return $523 in 15 days and X-3 would return $10631 in 15 days [1]

[1] As Bitcoin network is currently growing, we expect that the actual revenue by the time of shipment to be lower than this.

Why not update with expected return from any public website as source (genesisblock or btcinvest for example)? It's not really fair to display ROI on todays difficulty rate. When you are not delivering today.
If you are delivering today fine , if you are delivering in february, try and calculate return in february on expected february difficulty numbers.

so there are no differences between 3 or 4 modules right?

I've read that the mounting screws on b2 and b3 are placed different, so you cannot easily plug a b3 board in a b2 unit and vice versa.
Also, if you can run them 3 per unit, i think its preferred in terms of overclocking and power supply. You will need 1000W+ for 4 units.
Its a lot of amps running through a small control unit. But i will leave an engineer to answer that fully..
194  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: 4 black Avalons, batch 2, 3 modules each, ~80GH/s each;25BTC buy it now on: September 24, 2013, 12:03:29 PM
for me impossible to add a new bid

Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.

I think you needed to just post again from new window. your session might have died on you.
Waited long to press save?

again, ddwrt is quite surely more secure than the firewall you have in front.
avalons run on ddwrt, whic is a secure opensource firewall.

It's a Linux distribution with tools useful on a router (wrt is the line of routers for which it was initially built). The standard firewall tools from the Linux kernel are included with an easy to use GUI.

no released hacks to my knowledge..
the person is just trolling..

He's not trolling, he's probably using common sense. The task of a firewall is mainly to filter out unwanted network accesses. The basic rule for any network admin worth its salt is: deny all by default, allow only what is needed.

Apparently the Avalon in question is sitting on a public IP with it's web server (usable only for configuring dd-wrt and the mining software) reachable. So the firewall doesn't do what it should in this context, allowing access to the web server only from local addresses. In the current configuration, a hole in Apache, PHP or the GUI of dd-wrt will be exploitable.

The fact that dd-wrt includes firewall capabilities doesn't mean they are used securely.

and the fact that apache is enabled doesnt make it insecure either..
its like saying all apache webservers are insecure and should not allow web access.
until you find a working exploit, we must consider it safe.

escrow services are free from others. check around, john k is not the only one with good rep.
escrowing a product sale shall not cost 1-2%..
198  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: September 23, 2013, 06:39:11 PM
so if  the web interface is your problem. disable it..
a 15 digit password and no standard username makes any bruteforce attack on it impossible..
if anyone hacks my units, i salute the for the hours of hashing they might steal from me..
creating a storm in a teacup.

There is more than the username/passwd combo to web interface security

Don't hook random appliances up to the interwebs without any firewalling, just common sense

From default passwords to debug backdoors accidentally left open, I've seen it all in the past

i see, so you have found a backdoor to ddwrt? it is a firewall. maybe post this to them and they can update with your hack for next update! and again, no idea where you get "without firewalling" from. ddwrt is an opensource firewall..
Setting an avalon, which already has a firewall behind a firewall, is no specific added security.. especially if it is a standard dlink or netgear.. A firewall is only as safe as it can be configured. DDWRT is a secure opensource firewall.
Hooking up a pc using cgminer all public ports could not be adviced. However, cgminer in this case is running on top of a ddwrt firewall.
If you want to read more about ddwrt go ere:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/What_is_DD-WRT%3F

I would only be interested in this too if there is something inside the firmware that transmits out to home base some where that would allow someone in. Otherwise I could care less as I don't put my Avalon's on the internet without a firewall in front them as that would be very bad practice!!
