I will gladly buy these chips at an 80% discount in a few weeks when he has stock, and refunded all the group buys. I mean, 800k chips "in shipping" thats getting refunded now lots of them. He will have to sell them.. Also for him to look at gen 2, and gen 3 and finalise avalon 3 mini production. These chips will be very cheap soon im sure.. (one of the main reasons i want a refund, i wouldnt mind mining with them, but not at this stage and price per GH).

I just had an avalon that was running fine for weeks suddenly stop working Red/yellow lights are on. The miner starts but it never does any work (hashrate is 0) Where should I start looking for the problem? I had one do something similar. It turned out to be a bad USB cable connection inside of the case. The cable that runs from the built-in router to the front of the case makes poor contact with the hub where all of the power and data cables connect. Try pushing the cable to the right or left of the socket. My theory is the vibration of the fans eventually wiggled the cable enough to get it to disconnect. Good luck! Woke up this morning with a very similar issue, on B3 unit running 20130821 firmware and LAN connection. I've been using SilverStone 1500W PSU so don't think PSU is the problem. I've opened Avalon up and the blue LED doesn't seem to be flashing anymore! It only does one brief flash when reconnecting the USB cable (to check the connections). Tried couple of different USB cables with the same results. Not sure, but looks like my TL-WR703N could be dead? I'm thinking the quickest solution might be connecting directly to PC to mine that way, cos looks like ordering a replacement TL-WR703N from Ebay would take ages to arrive. How do I connect avalon to computer via USB and mine that way? or any other ideas? Try this: (failsafe mode) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140539.msg3027863#msg3027863

What's the problem here considering Steamboat is trying to make the best out of a situation that is literally beyond his control?
The problem is that other groupbuys are getting a 100% Refunds. This is because these other groupbuy operators want to have future successful groupbuys and maintain a reputation as being an extremely honest and fair operator. Tell me one. SebastianJu only gave 95% back aswell. just as steamboat will.
|
|
|
I was part of SebastianJu's groupbuy aswell. I can confirm I got 95% of purchase price back (including the 10% markup). Which is more than i asked for. I was fine with him keeping the 9.9% he charged as agreed. I don't know how zefir handled it. maybe he only paid back 100% of the chip purchase cost price, which would indicate he kept the entire markup.

EU only really limits your potential customers.
However, I understand the hassle. Within EU there's no Import/Export, just shipping. Out of EU world of trouble for both buyer and seller (papers on seller, taxes and high shipping costs for buyer).

This would be a great idea if Difficulty weren't working against you. I'd go ahead and do a straight auction, as your sale price is decreasing by about 1.6% (from the original price) per day and difficulty is increasing by 2% - 2.5% each day. You're almost guarantee to lose out.
I know, the impending jump is batshit crazy. 100 million before October used to look wild, we're looking at that for the next adjustment now. On that note..... 47.5 BTC is where we're dropping from, 2.5 BTC decrements per day. So next wednesday we are at 30BTC? Getting closer!

Anyone get a answer/verification, from refund request?
Yeah, was a post like this: Avalon ASIC chip Refund Form Your response has been recorded. When successfully submitted. (no email).
|
|

The original price of the chips from Bitsyncom is 0.078, if you refund you get back 0.0817 so clearly steamboat is paying back some of his 10% markup. To be precise, around 47.4% of his markup, or as close as makes no difference to "half of the original 10%".
It could not be put simpler than this. If we get back more than the bitsyncom price. How can steamboat then charge us above that? Its 5% his charges. nothing more..

incredible how simple math is so difficult for a lot of people in this room. there will be a 5% markup only, not 10% as previously agreed. Well done steamboat. I managed to submit the refund form, i hope i did it correctly. Will look further for posts from you following this matter. Thanks.

[Note: Some have suggested the total overhead paid to SB is only 5% after cancellation. The chips cost SB .078BTC each - he charged .086BTC, but is only refunding .081BTC. Sure looks like 15% to me.]
10% of .078 = 0.0078 <-- SB's markup 0.078 + 0.0078 = 0.0858 <-- cost per chip from SB rounded up to .086 95% of 0.086 = 0.0817 <-- refund from SB as stated in the email and on forums 100% - 95% = 5% <-- markup lost in the course of doing business. seriously. this happens. check the thread for evidence of work being done. May I suggest https://www.khanacademy.org/ for your remedial maths Exactly.. Anger and a will to write it out loud is clouding some peoples judgements.. Even him taking the full 9.9% i would agree on. However, he is not the best communicator and he should have someone working on the forums, which is his ONLY point of sales.

The service fee has been reduced to 5%, which seems fair. Thanks for the update.
Still curious to hear about assembly, parts and shipping.
Seems fair? This is absolute bullshit. Steamboat already made 10% on each chip order. Why does he deserve another 5% for essentially filling out a refund form from Yifu. Granted he will have to deal with all the paperwork but that was what he signed up for when he organized this group buy - total control. Why was every other group buy organizer able to provide a 100% chip refund? This is absolutely outrageous. Totally not fair, in the first place you shouldn't mark up 10% and add another 5% if other group buy can give 100% refund. Next time you know who to sign up for group buy.Are you serious? he is giving back 5% of what previously charged: (more than fair, and this is what SebastianJu did aswell) on a btc value of 100btc he charged around 110btc earlier. he will now refund 95% of 110btc which is 104.50btc. How in the world do you get that to 10% and an extra 5%? I seriously start to understand why we are suggested to ignore you.. Your anger is making you look a bit foolish. A simple calculator would solve you some anger if you know how to use one.

I actualized the list of refunds. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=187660.msg3066468#msg3066468I sent all refunds that are in the 40000 chips that we got refunded except those where i miss the refund address still. By the way... next time i surely wont do every transaction on its own. It takes forever (5 1/2 hours till now) and make you tired i think its dangerous. I hope i didnt made an error till now. But an automatically created csv, that is created by calc, whose data i can check before and doing some small testtransactions the same way would be better. Even when only merging 10 transactions, control those data and then send them it would have been a big save of effort. And the chance to make errors while copying is smaller too. Only in case someone has to do similarly many transactions at some point. Yes definetly.. even the orders should be taken in on a system. Refund recieved (calculated correctly) Extra tip sent for a job well done on your end.

i wonder how many emails steamboat has in his inbox. 3 from me! thursday , sunday , tuesday. I'm not in his assembly, but in his chip purchase. i should be given a refund 100% for sure.. But if they wont be filed before tomorrow to yifu, i guess i can use them as christmas tree ornaments? i should be getting them around December i guess?
