181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you depend on game predictions by supercomputers? on: April 09, 2024, 12:59:17 AM
As much as I believe that AI will be a really good technology that would help progress humanity as a species, I don't think we're at a level that AI will accurately predict what could happen and have a spot on analysis, I mean people have that goal in mind for a really long time with AI because if you can accurately or semi-accurately predict any outcome that you ask the AI to predict, you've basically got an ubiquitous technology in your hands that can help you in any aspects that you want some help of like gambling but I think that with it, we're not using AI prediction to its fullest potential, imagine being able to simulate a war scenario when you're at a war against a country, you can easily adjust your strategy depending on the results, you can probably even use AI for space travel, imagine launching a space exploration that's got an AI to do accurate reports on what's happening during their travel, the information we're going to get is going to phenomenal.

But if we really just want to focus on gambling predictions, right now it's probably going to do well with blackjack and other games that have a fixed odds because you can do card counting using AI and they'd be able to give you results that can help with your decisions but if we're talking about sportsbetting, it's probably not yet that flawless to accurately predict who will score a goal at what minute of the game or how many points would Lebron be able to get in a particular game.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Story of my life on: April 08, 2024, 03:57:50 PM
I feel like in that story, you're aware that you're already slipping away OP, this is just my hunch but you're getting addicted to gambling already and what you've just posted right now, it's not the whole truth, sorry for being doubtful but this is the Internet and there's really no demerits to lying to people here right? People do it all the time to troll others. The reason why I don't believe you is that I don't think you'd be adding those compensations at the end where you're gambling only what you can afford to lose, there's no way that you're going to say this without any kind of reason right?
183  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Future of online poker - PokerFi on: April 08, 2024, 02:42:32 PM
I'm quite confused about what PokerFi is advertising because it's not the poker game itself but the ability to launch tokens, nfts, and other stuff. Why not focus on offering a different kind of game with poker or something.
That's because there's only so much that you can do that's original and not tiring in the eyes with poker, almost every casinos' probably done some kind of variation to poker so I get why they're trying hybridization with financial tools, a way to try out things that might work or might not work, the only issue that I've got with this one is that OP isn't responsive on this thread, I'm pretty sure that you need to be talking to the people that are asking questions about your services no?

186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright Satoshi Claim Case Update on: April 07, 2024, 11:25:48 AM
his game is distancing himself..
his next stance would be that his tweets over many years were done by his employee's and not him, whereby he allowed them access to his account and nothing ever said were his words from his human self.. he just allowed them because there was no "proof" either way
(in courts its called plausible deniability/reasonable doubt)
so he can escape any criminal acts of promotin a scammer/fraudster by making suggestions his tweets were never his and he this year completely separated from the account once courts found out his tweets about CSW were lies
Distancing is probably a sound advice coming from his lawyer. But the tweets aren't going to absolve him very much because there's the lies to those people that he talked to and those aren't going to be easily dismissed that his employees did it when he's the one that's been seen. The argument about the tweets are probably just some kind of hail Mary to at least try to make the sentence a bit more shorter or at the least make it more or less that he's not guilty of all that he's been accused of, such a determination from this man to be able to do this and keep on lying when he's been debunked time and time again.
187  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can Bitcoin save a nation that owes a lot of money / Debt on: April 07, 2024, 08:18:33 AM
I don't think so, depending on how big their debt is and I'm assuming it's going to be in the billions, they're going to need to accumulate a lot of bitcoin or maybe even invest a huge part of their national budget into bitcoin acquisition since mining after this halving might not be as profitable, with the current price of bitcoin, they need to be on the level of Microstrategy to be able to make payments for their debts and it's a hard task at hand to be honest, that the answer to the question is that it's probably not a way to save Pakistan's debts through bitcoin.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Total Market Cap Has Soared Past $1.3 Trillion on: April 07, 2024, 05:25:39 AM
That's not even the best that bitcoin can ever get, imagine about 25% of the world's population are into bitcoin or planning to invest in it, the value that we're going to see is going to be astounding and I can't even begin to fathom how high that demand would be, bitcoin's going to be way past the point where it matters what ranking it is in terms of market value against other market or company because they're going to be number 1 and the gap with the 2nd place in ranking is far too wide to matter.

Yeah but keep in mind that the higher the market cap goes, the more work it is to get the price to increase. Remeber how easy it was going from $30 to $250 and then to $1000 during 2013? Or how we went from a low of $200 all the way to $20000 within a year and a half.

Now it’s getting more and more difficult. We broke ATH but are stalling and struggling to go higher. This is what happens when market cap is high. At a price of $200, you could get retail to buy maybe 10-50 BTC.  But at a price of $70K most retail can only buy a mere fraction of a coin and hence why it’s going to be a long way to $100K.
Yes, there's more work but what I can see here is just an opportunity that you won't be missing out for too long in investment because bitcoin will take a long time before it grows, imagine those that are DCAing at a small amounts, they're going to like this the most.
189  Other / Off-topic / Re: 73-Year-Old Michigan Woman Believed She Won Over $3M but got SCAMMED for $700K on: April 06, 2024, 11:04:10 PM
The bitcoin ATM scams are bad. They even have warnings on all the bitcoin ATMs that if someone calls you and claims to be the police and you need to pay some fine in bitcoin, it’s a scam and to ignore them.
The problem with this one is this scam got a high success rate depending on how intimidating the scammer and compelling they are that they're the police or whatever person they pretend to be, that's why they target old people, they're old and they don't really have a good feel of their surroundings so it's easy to go for them if the scammers want an easy victim.
I remember a few years back when bitcoin atms were new. There was a lady at one and she was clueless how to operate it. She showed me her phone and said she needs to send this much BTC to this address, I looked and read the messages above and noticed she was getting scammed. I told her about it and she was relieved. It’s crazy how many people fall for all these scams.
There was an reply here by @blckhawk that talked about having young people around old people so they don't become victims of this scam, this is basically that scene that I'm picturing from what I've understood in that post. I guess you've just made some scammer's life a bit miserable, they thought they're about to get to paid but it seems to be not the case, I guess the risk is on them that the old victim doesn't know how to navigate the bitcoin ecosystem and you just happen to be there! Be proud that you're the bane of scammers my guy!
190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is a best way of taking advantage of BTC dips when away? on: April 06, 2024, 05:48:31 PM
How long are you going to be away though? I think that even with an advanced trading bot that would buy for whenever the dip happens, you still need to check on it on a regular basis. I don't think there's even one that would suit what you need because it seems that you're going to be going away for a really long time. Hope that you'd find what you're looking for though and good luck because you're going to need it since there's not really a lot of these specific bots that are in here, that is even if there's one in existence. Maybe you can reconfigure the commercially available bots to your preferences since most trading bots have that feature too.
191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think? on: April 06, 2024, 03:57:58 PM
If you want your electrum wallet to be completely secure, you should create it on an airgapped device.
This means that you should use a device which has been always offline and will never connect to the internet.
Really difficult to do but this is the way to go, no way that hackers or virtual crooks can get in when they can't connect to it other than a physical interaction to the device.

What you're doing OP is a good idea though, I'm sure that there's a way that you can do it much better, maybe follow what @hosseinimr93 advised, airgapped devices are basically impregnable.
192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 06, 2024, 06:56:30 AM
Have you heard of social engineering OP? Because if you haven't then you wouldn't be talking about all these false logic about scammers. Social engineering is a way for scammers to earn your trust, basically they befriend you and try to earn your trust, that's probably the most basic of social engineering because some people don't even have to befriend you, they most of the time are just strangers that would ask you some random questions but then it happens to be that those questions are a way to gauge how you are with security and if you're easy to get when it comes to scams. There's no virtue in victim blaming, you don't blame someone that's already in misery and misfortune, that's adding salt to the wound.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good bitcoin security starts with strong PC and mobile device security on: April 06, 2024, 06:09:07 AM
For the people that still installs other security apps on their computers, it would never make any difference because hackers have a way of bypassing them no matter how secure it is, most of the time they're not enough, probably the only thing that you can do is to prevent because once you've been hacked, it's already too late and if you're not a tech savvy yourself, it's futile to race against them anyway. Definitely helpful to have a strong computer and security in the first place, maybe not clicking on suspicious links would help you even more because you're preventing them any chances of entry.
194  Economy / Economics / Re: Irresponsible spenders consumes their retirement resources and losses values. on: April 05, 2024, 04:31:47 PM
If you look at it, there is no shortage of such people in our society.  There are many people who spend uncontrollably and do not care about their families at all.  It is very sad that a person who earns but does not take his family seriously and does not care.  I know other family members of such people are not happy at all.  Because this one person is enough for their mental suffering.  They don't care where they will get the money if there is any big danger in the future.  Where will the money for their treatment come from if they suffer a major accident?  There is no use in understanding them.  Because they usually don't listen to others.
Can't blame them, a lot of people that have been born into this world always lacking of their desire will always end up having to make the most reckless decisions because they're the ones that got deprived of things that they wanted but they don't have the money to satisfy that desire and so the moment that they're making money, they start losing control over how they spend their money which leads to them becoming irresponsible, one thing that could help solve this problem is probably the effort of teaching more people about financial responsibility, it may not prevent the reckless spending from totally happening but at the least, people are going to be aware that whatever they're doing is wrong and they know that it's time to change for the better.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you advise a friend in the same way? on: April 05, 2024, 03:34:50 PM
Definitely wrong, I think that you shouldn't have given that person any idea of risking that amount of money to bitcoin, you've said that he's taking over a business which means that he's going to need any money that he can get to make sure that he's not going to have any problems with the business, the best thing that you should've done was to tell your friend to invest not the money for the business but his personal money, that way, the business will thrive without the risk of falling apart because of the lack of funds. Also, depending on how the business is structured, that could count as an embezzlement since that can be considered a misappropriation of funds for the business.
196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Feds transferred BTC from seized Silk road wallet to Coinbase on: April 04, 2024, 11:54:54 PM
If they have 94000 coins and sell them it will be interesting to see how price goes.
There's a lot of paperwork to do this though and I'm pretty sure that most of those bitcoins from the seizure would be subjected to police auction, isn't that what they've done before with other bitcoins that they've seized from Silkroad? It's going to be cheaper when they do it in the auction though, last time that they've done it, the winner of the bid paid like half of it's worth in the market so I expect that's what's going to happen next time. The effects on prices will probably only be visible once the winner of that bid sells those bitcoins and introduces it to the circulation.
197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Now Official Currency in Lugano: Another Milestone for Cryptocurrency on: April 04, 2024, 11:22:39 PM
Nice,  it looks like it takes more than 2 years before this to happen which i guess is enough for a authority body to decide what good and bad effect it will take to their governments. Congrats! I wonder if there are people in this forum came from that city. Feel free to share your experience there Smiley
Lugano is most likely an experiment to observe the effects of bitcoin adoption/legalization because that much freedom means they're going to have to be getting something out of it right? I really like it if there's people from there that would share their experience but I don't think that it's happening real early.

I don't know if it's going to get bitcoin more valuable though because the way I see it, it going to be used like a currency which isn't bad but the people that's going to be using them and seeing the value that they're giving away because they use it as a currency will probably get a second thoughts about using it that way, I just hope that it won't be the case but given the value, highly unlikely that they're going to use it as a currency for a long time.
198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Richest Crypto And Bitcoin Billionaires In The World 2024 on: April 04, 2024, 02:50:15 PM
Isn't? Man, it's 33 billion dollars left. But we probably need to put this into normal people's perspective.

Imagine if you have 37 thousand dollars ($37,000). But you are hit with a $4000 fine or some other kind of unforseeen expense, which is very common to happen at least once to people, that's going to leave you with 33,000 dollars left, and if there is no cashflow to replace that lost $4000 quickly, then you are not going to recover that.

Losing money is a big deal to everyone, it's why you have super rich people complaining about losing lots of money on social media.
An apt comparison but the perspective switch doesn't really hit the home run for me at the least. Especially at the part that you've mentioned about no immediate cashflow, that's not a problem that would be evident with CZ, his billions is probably enough to keep him alive for a lifetime and then again 5 times in a row without the need to work. I can agree that losing money is a big deal but got to understand though, it's not really our position to feel bad about CZ paying those fines because he'll probably be able to make it back in a year probably, most of that networth is investments anyway, so there's a guarantee that he'll be able to make it back with those investments.
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [LEARN] Bitcoin History 2008 to 2016 [Link Inside!] on: April 03, 2024, 05:39:41 AM
Congratulations on this work, I'm planning to read it but there's these things irl that I've got to focus on that makes me not sure that I'd be able to do it, I might donate someday soon but not right now given that I have some needs, I will link this book to my crypto groups outside the forum though, helps that you're getting more visibility.
200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has BTC really become more attractive than gold? on: April 03, 2024, 04:46:41 AM
I don't think it is close to being more popular than gold, think about this, even though bitcoin's got a lot of press and online presence, the thousand year history of gold is still the biggest factor as to why bitcoin can't defeat gold in terms of popularity or attractiveness as an investment, my reasoning for this is because if you ever ask someone that has no idea about bitcoin or probably got some idea what bitcoin is but they didn't care about investing in it, they'd choose to invest or take the gold instead of bitcoin 10 times out of 10. Some might say that I'm wrong but you can probably test it out and people would choose gold over bitcoin even if you tell them that bitcoin's got more potential in growth.

I am the only one in my family who chose bitcoin, my parents, my wife, aunts and uncles they all chose gold and real estate, even though they knew very well I made a lot of money investing in it.

Yes, you are right, we should not deny that bitcoin will not be more popular than gold and still cannot surpass gold in some aspect. Gold is still considered the safest option to date and is sometimes preferred over real estate. We cannot yet confirm whether bitcoin will beat gold in popularity in the future, but for now, bitcoin is still far behind gold in popularity.
See what I'm getting at, gold's still the popular choice among the people that aren't into bitcoin even if they know about it, they care about the fact that there's some stability in value rather than the potential profit from investing in it. It's not really a bad idea though and you can't really blame them, some people just don't want to risk in something volatile, just leave them be and let yourself enjoy the profit and benefits of having a bitcoin.
