Here's a consideration:

Perhaps some people just hold the moral value that a persons worth and holdings should be based on their contribution to society.

Whilst I don't begrudge the people who have a dick load of coins, when compared to the rest of the world, I don't believe it's "fair" (but I also can't propose and alternative)

For someone to earn literally millions of dollars, for buying and hoarding some virtual currency is not "fair" when you consider how little teachers, nurses, civil servents and generally the rest of the world get paid for working their asses off day in day out.

If all the Mr Binmen and and all the Mrs Midwife who gets paid £50 a day were to stop turning up to work, we'd be up the creek without a metaphorical paddle. The world keeps spinning if people don't buy bitcoins.

It doesn't take skill, and it doesn't contribute anything towards society buying and sitting on a boat load of Bitcoins, although actively trading is a slightly different matter.

"but footballers get paid more" or "but <insert retarded celebrity> gets paid more" is not a valid counter argument.

The solution to this is not "punish those who did well through taking a risk" but "reward those who contribute".

Bringing down the rich does NOT help the poor.

Posts outside of this forum, and even here, are full of comments talking about early adopter unfairness...

In general, too many people are jealous of what other people have that they don't have themselves. This is an indication of being a 'small' person. Typically the same persons would look at some rich dude depicted in a magazine and think he's repulsive. His crime: Being rich.

I think it's part of human nature, most of us want everything, but we don't want to do much for it. Those taking the risk of investing early on, or using the system in the very beginning was visionaries, or risk-takers or high stake gamblers. The definition is for you to decide.

The point is that wherever and whenever somebody has gained something that's outside that of the norm, someone somehow is bound to complain.

The same people complaining about early adopter unfariness would've not complained if they were an early adopter themselves (then they would be happy...), and if somebody had told them: Invest now, and reap the benefits later, they would've probably not've invested anyway. What - internet play money ? Ponzi - pyramid scheme - hell no!

Full disclosure: Not an early adaptor, and not jealous of anyone with a lot of money.  Grin

There does exist a form of jealousy which doesn't result in thinking the person you're jealous of is somehow in the wrong.

Am I jealous of those who get in on bitcoin way at the beginning? Yes, you bet I am

Do I think they're in the wrong? No, they deserve everything they got and have done nothing wrong - I just wish i'd had their foresight.

Yep, got the same error around 12pm today.
My Account is verified on Dwolla so when its back up I should be good to go right?

Our service is up right now, so i'm not sure what you mean by "when its back up" - all I know is dwolla have told us some customers will need to visit that link and go through the questions.
Sorry, I thought the issue had to be resolved with Dwolla and Bitinstant. So I ment when that was resolved everything will work fine?
Also the link doesn't lead anywhere. After I log in it shows a blank Funding Sources page. Then I click Funding Sources again and my verified account shows up.

Give it another try on our site and see if you can make a payment, if you can't let me know your QuoteID so I can chase this up with dwolla.

Failed again. Sending Pm with info now.

I've passed all the details onto dwolla and waiting for their reply, in the meantime please get in touch if you need to do a transaction and we'll setup a manual transaction.
184  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dwolla | Different Rules for BitInstant? on: May 04, 2013, 05:02:45 PM
Back when BitInstant started they didn't require a specific merchant account and now we've got enough volume that they seem to pay attention more so i'm sorry I can't offer you any better advice Sad
185  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dwolla | Different Rules for BitInstant? on: May 04, 2013, 04:39:17 PM
I'm glad that BitInstant is able to anonymously process Dwolla payments, but I was wondering if anyone knew how they get away with circumventing Dwolla's STRICT policy regarding identity requirements.

For example I recently applied for a merchant account at Dwolla and was sent these instructions regarding their requirements:

Quote
Dear Dwolla Customer:

Thank you for signing up for a merchant account with Dwolla. We
greatly appreciate your interest in our product.

However, due to the nature of your business; we require documentation
on how you validate your customers. Specifically, your product is
generally age restricted by Federal, State or Local law.

Could you please provide documents of your policies, processes and
procedures to collect and verify your customers’ identities?

Specifically, the following data elements are to be collected and
verified for each customer:

First and Last Name

Present Residential Address

Date of Birth

Social Security Number

State issued identification or passport

What service or internal process allows you to validate items 1-4?
(e.g. TransUnion or VeriSign)

What service or internal process allows you to validate item 5? (e.g.
Lexis Nexis/ Idology)

Regretfully, your account will not be fully active until we obtain,
and approve these documents.

Kind regards,

Dwolla Compliance

As a test, I just bought $20 in bitcoins using Dwolla to Bitcoin Address and there was no verification requirements whatsoever.

If anyone can help me understand why this is the case I will show my appreciation with a little bitcoin confetti! Cheers! Smiley

We don't, dwolla require our customers to verify

188  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitInstant/Zip Zap problems on: May 04, 2013, 10:57:29 AM
Thanks for the reply!

That's what I thought too initially.

If you type in a zip code on cashpayment.com (which *is* ZipZap) you can find plenty of payment centers. Further more, if I go to ZipZap from BitInstant the website shows that there are NO payment centers in the Entire US, which I know is wrong. There is something like 700,000 different places in the US to use ZipZap. Hell, I've even heard about on NPR one afternoon.

That's obviously not right, what browser are you using?
This is good customer support. Trolling the forums looking for issues.
Keep it up BitInstant.

Fixed a lot of the issues causing the recent delays so I now have the time to do this Smiley

Can someone step up and start a new exchange-processing service?  I'll buy equity...how much depends on the timeline.

What the hell, gimme your bitcoin address
Oh, well, that was a joke.  If you insist, though: 16sziuRhFXSiwNsoouf4YUZLYGLA6tnQeL

print out the payment slip and go to cvs or walmart. they will know what to do with it

You can't get a payment slip from zipzap without a location.

To the OP - PM me your zip code etc and other details of the transaction and i'll look into this.

Holy crap, this just gets weirder and weirder.
User 'ZIGGAP' then goes on to explain that they never posted that, yet they don't offer one single explanation as to what is happening with the business. Bizarre. Here are the posts http://www.reddit.com/user/ZIGGAP

Sadly, we are probably dealing with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociative_identity_disorder  Undecided
We're not psychologists, so I would try not to "diagnose" him with disorders.  I think it's more likely that aethero (Ryan) posted this, and his wife saw it and deleted it.

Anything's possible, but let's look at all the possibilities.

Can't give him a formal diagnosis, but as a member of the secret bitcoin illuminati, I can give him an informal diagnosis of paranoid delusions reminiscent of schizophrenia - the psychosis is strong in this one.

If this has already been answered please excuse me, I tried searching google and ended up here, tried searching here and still no answers.

Today I tried to make my first bitcoin purchase.  My original intent was to use dwolla to buy from mgtox, but today once my deposit at dwolla had cleared I discovered mgtox requires ID on file to buy bitcoins with dwolla.  Not wanting to wait until after Monday to make my purchase I discovered I could use dwolla at bitinstant and transfer them to mtgox.  So I selected the dwolla to mtgox option and everything seemed to go fine until the third line in my event history at bitinstant.  It shows that the data from dwolla was received, then the next line in my event history says "Dwolla IPN failure" and nothing has occurred since then.

I'm not exactly panicking, the money is still in my dwolla account so I haven't lost anything.  However it would be nice to know if the order will process at some point or if I have to make a new one?  I don't want to create a new order and be out twice as much money if the first one goes through as well.  Can anyone tell me what the issue is?  If there's something I did wrong on my end (I put in all account numbers properly so it's not that) it'd be nice to know what I did wrong.

Thank you.

Hi there, unfortunately the order won't process and this is an issue we're working with dwolla on.
You need to go here first - http://www.dwolla.com/fundingsources?a=verify

Same here, we have btc-e enabled right now but do have to disable it at times when reserves run out

i sent 720 between two payments today. on each occasion i had my coins in my gox account by time i was home and wally mart is literally across the street. bitistant is slowly regaining my faith but time will tell.

Due to recent problems we've been making some significant changes to try and improve the service and cope better with demand - glad to see the changes are working Smiley
198  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 5 Days No Coins? on: May 03, 2013, 01:53:30 PM
Yeah I know they keep linking me to blockchain where it says transaction complete yet i still have not received my bitcoins i honestly dont believe i will ever see them by the way it's going. And Danny to be honest im not sure but im going to be damn sure i do way more research cause the amount of complaints i have seen about the same thing i am experiencing is astounding for such a popular used exchange. It sucks but i am glad that i was not one of the people who are thousands of dollars that are getting the run around like i have been.

If the blockchain shows your transaction then we delivered on our end and you'll have to chase this up with bitstamp.
199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support) on: May 02, 2013, 02:52:55 PM
Are online bank transfers not allowed for US customers yet? I don't see the option in the drop down menu. I hate using moneygram at CVS. Their internet went down last time I sent money and I had to wait there 30 minutes to confirm the transaction went through. If it's not allowed yet, is there an ETA?

This all depends on getting the right payment partners, we're constantly seeking new partners for this very reason and will announce it when we have something like this available.

Just a polite note to anyone having issues with dwolla, if you can't complete an order you may need to verify your dwolla account:
https://www.dwolla.com/fundingsources?a=verify

After verifying please retry any payment, and be assured that funds are not removed from your dwolla account should you see the error message.
