Wow, It seems that "the Chinese" are buying tons of the new synthetic drug called -P&D- in the "dark market" with Moneros ...

Usually i would agree, but can you say P&D when the volume is lower than usual in the last 3 months? Also that sarcasm is over-the-top... try less of it and it might be funny :p

On another note:

seems some people outside of crypto are getting it:

http://wmstudios.com.au/index.php/news/blog/102-monero-is-the-currency-bitcoin-tried-to-be
Monero is having the hype behind it being an anonymous coin which can be traded in the dark market, but the problem is people who trade in the onion markets are a few compared to the general public who sees bitcoin as a mode of investment rather than a currency and that is the biggest difference between the two.

But that is also the biggest reason why monero could potentially skyrocket... what do people like with their investments... if they rise... what is most probable to rise nearest to BTC value, the altcoin that most people will call "The Next Bitcoin" thus this will make monero also kind of investment if people fear of missing the ship another time.
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: DAO - Kraken/Poloniex - Delisted? Not possible to trade? on: December 18, 2016, 12:11:55 PM
Write em off as failed investment

thanks for info,so its look like monero is not so safe and smart to use!

What kind of FUD is this? Most often things like that are not the mistake of a service or coin, but from the user that cannot read properly!!

To OP: Did you include a Payment ID ?

191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 05, 2016, 11:19:40 PM
Buying monero in december is a suicide. It just protracts the GUI mess to perpetuity which is a sign that a dumping whale waits for BTC to chill out.

Once bitcoin is curbed everythings back on track. Whale tells devs to hurry up their asses and pumps the hell outta it on the agreed bumping time. U better wait.

Better:

Buy Now - Sell with the whale (GUI release) - and buy cheeper later...

Priced in already. How many time should I repeat myself?

I doubt that... with the GUI soon, soonish... immidiate delays for months, i bet there will be many speculators waiting till they SEE and can touch the thing... no matter if they already could compile it by themselve

I'd say move away from thinking about crypto, sadly crypto is not set up in such a way to take advantage of talent unless you are very lucky.

this talks otherwise https://forum.getmonero.org/8/funding-required

BTW Manchester and Scotland are both in the North

Try telling that to either a Mancunian or a Scot. That would be fun to watch.

Lol!! Yeh, I'd like to see that too. Make it a Glaswegian for good measure ... Scottish Kiss anyone ?  Cheesy

I am Scottish.  Clan MacGregor ("Royal is my race").  So I can hold my own, am quick to anger, and say whatever the hell I want to.   Grin

That's right, selectively edit my post and back the fuck off from disputing the entirely accurate claim both Scot1 and Mancunian2 accents are both characterized as brogues.

Throw in an implied threat of violence just to be sure I'm warned against stating a simple fact of geography in public.

Send me a ticket to the UK and I'll tell as many people as you like Manchester and Scotland are both in Deh Norf (albeit on opposite sides of the wall).  British Airways, KLM, SAS, or Korean Air only please.

Jaxx will probably have Monero integration in the next couple weeks or maybe a month.
A few more months for an official GUI wallet probably.
I'm sure someone here knows the approximate dates.
GUI before the Hardfork Wink in January so next few weeks
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 30, 2016, 03:17:35 PM
does anyone have an update of when the GUI will be released?

Soon TM Smiley . Don't know really, all dead lines are broken, Jaxx is not going out soon.

According to fluffypony :
"When Monero 0.10.1 (named Wolfram Warptangent) is released we will publish the GUI binaries for all major OS’s as a separate download. We are still waiting for some contributors to finish of code, but I can image we will roll out the new release by the end of November. Our build set-up includes three versions of Mac, multiple versions of Windows, ARM, freeBSD, and Linux on 32 & 64 bit. The Future of Cryptocurrency"

=> starting today for gui release

The Article you are quoting is outdated, as you can see with the Jaxx mention in there that everything is running good :p, above code is finished afaik but atm there is some issue especially on Mac that leads to some further push-back in date, but the word now is that there needs to new binaries out before the 5 January as Shen improved/overlooked the RingCT implementation and found some minor things to fix.

I've added a Windows build here if more people would like to test
https://github.com/Jaqueeee/monero-core/releases/tag/pre-beta

Jaquee,

Just ran the Windows 32-bit wallet, set the node address to - node.supportxmr.com... getting the following Network Status message in the bottom-righthand corner - 'Wrong Version'.

Also on the setting pages there are 3 options - 'Daemon Address', 'Manage Wallet', and 'Close current wallet and open wizard' - there is no 'orange button' to the right of 'Manage Wallet'

Thanks,

24Kilo

the remote daemon you are connected to has the wrong version

in that case the readme to the pre-betas should be fixed ^^ that is the pool jaqueeee stated
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 22, 2016, 02:16:16 PM
Whatever the 'reason' buy side is ramping up and coins for sale lower than it has been - volume very strong.

Bullish (for now) - and BTC seems out of steam for breaking 750 and staying over.

Will sell a few as I don't think this run will take us back up all the way, but it's a spike worth playing a little.

Maybe the GUI really is Soon™, who knows....

The GUI was ready a week ago, Devs said there is nothing more they can do before release. Seems like it's only Fluffy holding up the release now unless some other bug was found that I haven't seen written publicly about yet.

Please read more carefully when you try to repeat something. The GUI is in a frozen code ready state, not everything that can be done is done state, also it is not fluffy holding up, but they are waiting for another fix for an issue with the daemon so there will be a new point release ( 0.10.1 ) as the GUI and the old release 0.10 do not work properly together ... so one needs the other to get a GUI beta release for the public.
So please stop calling names if you do not know what you are doing. Attitudes like that can drive away good people.

I received Smoothie's bronze giveaway coin and is lovely. I havent funded it yet but working on it. Thank you very much Smoothie!

Other than that i really like what i see lately. Some setbacks in regards to third parties but overall everything progresses fine. I am thinking back 1 year ago and clearly we are already at another level of adoption.

Who would have thought that we have the 3rd highest volume Smiley and even surpassed the old "Silver" Litecoin http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/volume/monthly/
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 16, 2016, 11:01:38 PM
Most people know the GUI is coming. I can only see this drop being due to bitcoin going up, people panicking and thinking that they can buy XMR later as the GUI is coming in 1-2 weeks.

In my case I will be buying some in this turmoil Smiley

The perception that the GUI will make the price go higher is only true in the short and long term pictures.

Initial spike makes sense, but what really matters is the longer term adoption that allows monero's price to grow.

In the medium term, who knows what will happen.

And also who knows how much of the "GUI" has been priced in to the price already since it is common knowledge ahead of time much like bitcoin block halving is known ahead of time.

I would say for "traders" the GUI has so often been postponed that they might actually wait till there are downloadable binaries :p
