181  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is going to touch all time highs on: April 27, 2024, 02:55:06 PM
Fast forward - I expect $100K to be reached in 2024, while I would expect $150K in 2025. These are logical numbers to expect for bitcoin post halving - but of course it must be accompanied by increased demand. So far the market has not moved up and is trending sideways - but in the last 24 hours the price has risen close to 4%.

The important resistance to break is $70K - while we can expect an ATH once the price breaks the previous ATH at $73K. Of course it still takes time and there is also a large flow of money in the market - but the chances are getting better after the halving.
I am also optimistic that bitcoin price will eventually reach its new all time high soon, if not this year, probably on the first quarter of the following year. So the current price correction does not really bother me because I know it’s just temporary, and after that we will see bitcoin price starts to rise again until it breaks its previous ATH and land into its new ATH.

However, talking about as to what price it will achieve this year, I have high hopes that it will cross $90k-$95k or even above that. But if bitcoin price will surprise us with a x2 price increase, then we will see $150k in less time from now.
182  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is not a lifetime job. on: April 27, 2024, 02:17:19 PM
i actually think that trading cannot be used as a long-term job because it is full of uncertainty. because market conditions can change and as we get older our analysis of the market may get worse and that can have an impact on the money we trade. especially as we get older, we need a stable income that can support our lives in the future. and because of this trading may not be a wise choice as a job to earn money for older people, because they need a stable income and do not require special attention like trading.
While trading cannot be sustainable as a lifetime job, however it’s a wise decision to see it as a side hustle. Since we cannot assure that all our trades will turn into profits, then most probably we can make it only as a side hustle that can still earn massive profits especially if you have high experiences trading in the market.

There’s no need actually to see trading as a lifetime job since you can have a real stable job that will pay you fixed amount of compensation no matter what. So don’t complicate yourself, you can stay in your own day job, and you can always continue to trade as well during your free time as long as you only decide to trade when the market is suitable to trade.
183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You are responsible for your own safety. on: April 26, 2024, 09:33:42 PM
However I wish they can put an end to that I will be the most happiest person ever.
I don't think it is possible for them to completely eradicate scam/phishing applications being published in their platform, they can scrutinize things better and be more stringent with things anyway. Don't wait for google to help you, do what's best for your own security, download stuffs only from their original website and be very cautious if you must download from either playstore or apps store.
That would be a complete hard task for them. Fraudulent apps have spread a lot in the Google app, so don’t expect too high that they will completely eradicate all of them. But for your best safety, learn to avoid suspicious download links and just stick to their original site. And when it comes to cryptocurrency, stick to bitcointalk as there’s nowhere you can consider as legit and reputable but only this forum alone. If you can’t stop those fraudulent apps from spreading, then find your own way and stick to bitcointalk.
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 26, 2024, 09:14:37 PM
It's true that scammers are everywhere, and as such, that should be enough reasons to make people equip themselves about basic tips to avoiding scam, because if eventually you are able to escape online scam, we have got physical scammers too which if you are not careful likely to rob away your hard earn money too, which is why personal security should always be our top most priority. Thank you

ChineseBaby
Exactly. I don't think scam is something that people are not aware of. Their have always been scammers,  it is so Dissapointing that beginners that new in cryptocurrency feel so relaxed and don't care how to make research about securing.  If one understands security very well and knows the right thing to do it will be very difficult to fall for scammers when scammers tries to take advantage.  The reason why most people have always been a victim to scam is because they are not ready to learn and get understanding that will help them to be on a safer side when they come across scammers.

Ignorance is the reason why scammers get people easily and people are not even ready to learn to be guided .
Scammers have been present already even before, and a lot have experienced being scammed already. So if you think being not cautious and careful won’t harm you at all, then learn from the experiences of those who have been scammed all of a sudden.

My point is that no one gets scam if everyone is taking extra care with their finances and investments. We are the ones who are giving hints to those scammers, so the moment they noticed us, we will already be their sudden target for scamming.
185  Economy / Economics / Re: It's better to invest now than to regret it in a hospital bed. on: April 26, 2024, 10:17:59 AM
I agree with your notion regardless of how you expressed it. I also believe that everyone should think and prepare for their future while they can, and it's not about people who aren't able to do it but about those who can do it but aren't giving enough time and consideration to it.

People who are earning enough but spending the money on useless things should reconsider their decisions and think about what they are going to do in the future if they aren't able to earn enough and also wouldn't have anything to back them up while they are not doing very well because someone who makes investments and saves money in the present will face less problems in the future because these things can support them in bad times until they become stable again.
They say regrets come in the end. Don’t just enjoy your present life to the fullest, but save for your future as well like getting into some business or investments that will save you in future financial crisis. It’s not like you will be totally fit and healthy forever, you will eventually end up with deteriorating body and mind, so while you are still able and still competent enough, save and invest. Don’t procrastinate and leave for tomorrow what you can do for today, if you can invest now into bitcoin and hold, then you will live your old age more comfortably and healthy.
186  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Illusion of Trading Success on: April 26, 2024, 08:39:30 AM
Many are teachers only few are traders. They make their money from selling trading courses, teaching trading classes, creating trading contents for YouTube and other social media. They have their own trading podcasts and collaborate with people like them to talk about trading yet, they have never been successful at trading.
(...)
You nailed it OP. This is really true these days, some also use fake screenshots or fake profits from their trading just to gain popularity and some will use it to take advantage of people just to make money on them.
Especially right now, social media is already everywhere and accessible to many, they can now easily lure people.
Well, you can’t stop these people from doing their stuffs since they are seeing this as their own job. If they are making decent income from it, then there’s no reason that they will miss that opportunity simply because they weren’t successful traders in real life. We should not only put the blame on them, but for beginner traders, they should be responsible also to invest on their knowledge first and learn to filter whatever they heard from those social media influencers. If they can do that, it will be less likely for them to get scammed because they are also cautious towards their decision making with trading.
187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone you introduced to BTC says the risks of her funds is on you on: April 25, 2024, 09:45:44 PM
Dear fellas, please I needed to know how you would feel if you were in my position basically where she said I would refund her if her funds gets lost becasue you recommended and introduced her to the system.
If and only if she accepts that if she gains, I will take all the profit.

It can even be 50:50. I mean if she lose, I will give her 50% of her loss back but if she make profit she will give me 50% of her profit.

But what I have told people that say something like this is that they should not invest if they can not take the risk.
However, having said that you must refund her if ever her investment turns into at loss, then most likely she is not really confident on the investment she is taking, and that will definitely put yourself being compromised.  For me, it’s better to tell her not to invest unless she is ready and is responsible of her own investment, than to risk her funds and at the end of the day, it’s your funds that will get compromised.
188  Economy / Economics / Re: Your aging and retirement plan is your responsibility. on: April 24, 2024, 10:00:52 PM
Diversifying BTC for retirement plans is not really my thing because at the end of the day, there would be no reasonable profit for the original investor and the investor would be left with the choice to either hold or sell when old age comes and if they didn't get to introduce their siblings or grandchildren to BTC , the coins would be lost.
Having crypto as your retirement plan is fine, as long as it is well planned and of course as long as you know how to take profit. Seriously, I’m not too focus about my retirement since I’m living my life everyday to the fullest since I can never know if I can stay alive during my retirement although of course I still prepare for it but it’s not for my self anymore, I prepare for the benefits of my family and crypto can also be a good choice for your retirement option.
I have to agree. It’s actually fine to have crypto in preparation for your retirement soon. Knowing it appreciates its value in the long run, for me that’s a good investment for our future. However, investing without knowing the basics is like gambling your funds. You should know the risk involved with hodling bitcoin, and should be well aware of its highly volatility. But if your purpose is to hold it for such a long term without having an attempt to sell it, I guess you won’t be highly bothered with its volatility nature. Just stick to your set goals then.
189  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Leverage on: April 24, 2024, 09:40:01 PM
...it is helpful for those that can take advantage of the feature but might be a disaster for people that are greedy only thinking about profit they gonna get not thinking about the loss they might endure due to irresponsible use of the leverage feature.

No matter how corny it may sound, but if risk management is not followed, then you will lose your money anyway. And it should be understood that if someone risks the entire deposit in the hope of getting a big profit, if the price moves in the opposite direction to his expectations, his position will be liquidated by the exchange.
Trading leverage might work if you have high experience on trading using leverage, but if you’re still new to it, you have to stick with risk management as it’s very crucial in trading, hence trading with leverage is highly discouraged for beginners. Don’t trade and focus on greed, you will never be successful and profitable in that case, but if you trade with an average amount of capital slowly but surely, then expect that you will have something to profits at the end of your trade.
190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causes loss on: April 22, 2024, 04:04:46 PM
From here, if a gambler is addicted, it is very difficult to stop and if he really wants to stop, it is up to the gambler to do so, not because of other people's coercion.

It's possible for some gamblers but if the addiction is severe, that cannot be healed by himself, it's time for him to ask for some help like the professionals and in that time, it's the family that matters a lot as that will make the healing process faster. Gambling addiction is a risk when gambling, it's also part of losing but there are times that we lose but it doesn't affect us much because we are discipline enough and we understand that losing is part of it.

Normally, the root cause of addiction is because we are uninformed of the risk, or we don't really understand it at all, so we think if we lose we can easily recover our losses without understand that mathematically, it's close to impossible due to house edge.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the Reluctance? on: April 22, 2024, 03:37:52 PM
You should already know the answer.

According to a 2018 estimate in The World Factbook by the CIA, the population is estimated to be 53.5% Muslim, 45.9% Christian (10.6% Roman Catholic and 35.3% Protestant and other Christian), and 0.6% as other.

Gambling is a sin for Muslim, how you can expect a country that dominated by people who're against gambling will legalize gambling? even they legalize it, they only allow foreigners to gamble and forbid local people to gamble.

People will still gamble even though they live in a restricted countries, just like the statistic you provided above. Why the police didn't catch every people who gamble on your country? because it's time consuming and their jail can't handle 50% of the population, the country will broke too due to giving free money for prisoners and less workers.

He stated that it's not illegal in his country, so why would you assume that because majority of the popular are Muslim it's likely attributed to that. They can still serve the 45.9 percent which are Christians and maybe gambling is also a sin but it's strictly implemented unlike in other religions.

If there's an opportunity to make money, the operators will try to find a way to run their business, maybe some have succeed because they have enough capital or they see it as a big opportunity, while others would choose to run their casino in other countries. Besides, online casinos can cater volume of people from different countries, so they'll not be run out of customers.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 22, 2024, 02:36:43 PM
Good start by the Lakers but like their previous match ups, Lakers still collapse in the 2nd half.
Once the Nuggets figure out the right adjustment, it seems like the Lakers have no more answer and that's what we witness in that game. I even thought they'll win but turns out they loss and unable to cover the handicap.

Let's jump to the upcoming games anyway.

Miami +14 (loss)
I think Boston is just too overvalued to give this high handicap on a team that beat them in the regular season with the same line up.

Dallas -2.5 (loss)
I like them to take the first win, no Leonard in this game and the Dallas are currently on a great run, it should continue here.

Pelicans +8.5 (win)
No Zion but they proved they can win, so I like taking them with this high handicap against a young OKC team.

Updated record 5(W)-5(L)..... 50%

For the upcoming games, I'm betting on the underdogs as they are trying to even the series.

1-Magic +5.5
Last time they loss by blowout, they should make the right adjustment in game 2. better ball movement to find an open man so they can improve their FG percentage.

2- Lakers +7
They almost made it in game 1 but collapse in the 2nd half, that cannot happen again. If they lose, at least a chance to cover is high.

3-Sixers +6
I believe they are the better team, Embiid has to play like an MVP, dominate the paint like he usually does.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: April 22, 2024, 06:16:09 AM
Looks like Haney forget to paid all the judges, he might have underestimated Ryan so much thinking he can win by just scoring, but turns out, it was the other way around as Ryan was quicker in that fight and obviously has more popular in his punches. I like that Ryan after losing to Tank Davis are now more aggressive in talking big fights, I hope other champions will be able to follow him to give the boxing community a real entertainment.

So now, the superstar in boxing, or one of the superstars, his name is King Ry, more exciting fight ahead, he got our attention now.
He's already popular even before not until on his first loss against Davis, though on his current win for sure there will be hyped again.
Ryan did a great job despite of fighting not just with Haney but also with the officials, too bad for Haney for being too confident and forget how to improve his punching skills as he was going to fight a more aggressive boxer and more eager to win back. Well, money will always talk so for sure Haney is still a big winner here.
Indeed, however that time after his loss to Tank people does not believe in him anymore that he can beat a champion. He just continue to be popular because he always wanted to gain some attention in his social media accounts, and now that he proved that he is a real deal, for sure he will get the respect from the boxers that would challenge him or he'll challenge in the future including Tank Davis if he'll decide to go down again.

This is a good year for him, first fight in 2024, I'm sure he can still at least make one fight this year.

Do you think who would that be?
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 22, 2024, 05:37:06 AM
At the moment, Miami is playing against Boston without Butler and Rozier.
And that's it, Boston Celtics won against the Miami Heat.

We always like this match-up of these two rival teams and in the end, it's always the Miami Heat that's winning the series. But let's see if this is going to be the one that the Celtics will celebrate even if it's not yet the finals.

Let's see if Miami will bounce back on their game 2.

That's a big statement Boston made there, but we have to remember that it's far from over, regardless on how the Boston beat the Miami, the series is still 1-0 at the moment, they still need to win 3 games to beat the Miami Heat. I would never underestimate the Miami heat here, I know they will come up with a great plan to surprise the Celtics in game 2, so I like taking chances on the handicap.
195  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin way forward - Towards $100k or $50k on: April 21, 2024, 09:45:51 PM
still hanging at 60k and above mate so there is a hard time believing if we will drop to 50k or heading to 100k but I think neither of the two will come because I think 100k will be coming after halving , and 50k is also a possibilities to come.
lets assume that 60-70k is the strong hold for 2024 and changes will come in the next year.
The $60K to $70K range is indeed the current price range because currently the price of Bitcoin is still very close to $65K in the market with the halving conditions which have finished today. This means that the range you say could still happen again for Bitcoin even though I'm not thinking about reaching $100K this year even though that could also happen for Bitcoin. Because on the one hand, we must not forget about price corrections which may still occur in Bitcoin this year.
Of course, price corrections are inevitable. And because of that, it would still be possible to see bitcoin price dips into $50k again. However, upon seeing the market price movement and stay longer in $65k-$70k price duration, I really think that we are currently heading into a higher price. Although we won’t be seeing immediate price increase as of this moment, but I believe this will happen soon, because this is what I observed from those past halvings for bitcoin.
196  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest on your dependants if you too must grow further on: April 21, 2024, 09:22:36 PM
I use to say this more often to people around me, that if you want to help a person in life, then learn to know and identify the strategic place of need in such persons life and fixed it, if you give them bread, they will soon eat it up and be hungry again, but when you make decision in alleviating them and helping them to start an investment that could be profitable for them to depend on for financial survival, they will always earn through such instead of coming back to you for more help.
Teach them skills first so they can enhance and develop it, until it makes them as their source of income. From there, they can make a stable earnings until they become capable to start their own investments that they are highly knowledgeable to. So you are teaching them to finally stand on their own, and won’t starve to death anymore because they are already earning quite well.

For me, that’s the best way to help. Don’t just give them fish to eat, but let them learn how to catch fish first.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Jontay Porter receives lifetime ban from NBA for violating gambling rules" on: April 21, 2024, 12:16:07 PM
When you are making this much millions of dollars, and he was making millions, even the smallest paid player in the NBA, ends up getting paid millions, why would you consider this as an option? I have watched a referee scandal on netflix I believe (not sure if it was netflix) and one of the refs back in the day had something similar, he didn't wagered on anything, he just told someone else, and that person wagered on it, and that is how it worked, and eventually that lead to him getting a lifetime ban and even a jail time.

I think it is quite obvious that we are talking about a situation that is serious in the NBA world, we only know these ones, but I am pretty sure that there are a lot more that is going on that we are not aware of yet.

Refs are more easily get tempted as they are the one officiating the game, hence it's easier for them to manipulate the game on their favor.
As for my research, ref make an average of ;

Quote
with a salary that range from $150,000 to $550,000 per year.
source
So they aren't really making big money unlike those NBA players. It's definitely a waste of opportunity for Porter as in the coming years, if he played better, he might be able to get a bigger contract, with the mistake he made, everything is gone.
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 21, 2024, 10:54:07 AM
Miami manage to do that before by sacrificing one player that will irritate play Jokic. A player like Draymond Green if Lakers have this can be annoying for Jokic. I dunno.  Cheesy

But did they succeed? No, because Miami loss in the NBA finals and game wasn't even close. It seems like Miami had some trouble against a team that has a dominant center, so I think it will be hard for them to beat the  Nuggets in case they'll be lucky again to win ECF. What I like to see is Embiid vs Jokic battle, these two are the best big men in the league now, and a duel in the Finals would definitely give the fans the best series to witness.

Sixers might have a harder route but it's possible as this season they have been playing great basketball and if they'll face the Celtics in the ECF (x Miami), I think Sixers are going to upset the heavy favorite team.
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 21, 2024, 09:51:29 AM
Got it perfect, I  really like when a team got underestimated too much because they don't have their star beacuse they won most of the time, or at least cover the spread. and let's get this going.

1- Cleveland -5 win
I will continue to trust the Cleveland playing geat at home, the spread is just right, not a trappy one so let's get this one.

2-Suns +1.5 loss
They are the better team for me IMO, their playoff experience will start in this game and if this will be a close game, I think the Suns are gonna steal one game on the road.

3.Lakers+7 win
Everyone is probably expecting that the Nuggets are gonna win this game easy, I say it's going to be a close game and the Lakers might even win. I think Lebron understands how important is game 1, so expect a very physical game.  Just a side bet but not counting it on my record, I like the under  223.5.

Updated record 4(W)-3(L)..... 57%

Good start by the Lakers but like their previous match ups, Lakers still collapse in the 2nd half.

200  Other / Meta / Re: Why is merit not common on trading discussion board on: April 20, 2024, 09:19:07 PM
The trading section is unarguably filled not with shitposters only, but with posters who have neither tried trading full-time nor intend to, nor even fully understand what trading and the strategies of trading are.

Well, many people who jump into trading tend to do so thinking that they are going to get rich with little capital and leverage because they follow the influencer of the moment. To some extent it is a board like gambling, but less spammy I would say. However, it has many similarities. Today I have seen talk of degenerates in terms of traders and in that I think many of them are similar to degenerate gamblers. I am not surprised, then, that not many merits circulate on that board just as they do not circulate on the gambling boards.
In short, majority of these traders act like gamblers so it makes sense why they fail to attract merits in this technical board. However, there are still few widely experienced traders who are certainly getting consistent merits in trading, simply because they were enhanced as real traders in the market, and have absorbed completely the real essence of trading and how it can be highly successful and productive. The rest are just random gamblers who hide their identity as somewhat traders.
