1801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: April 15, 2017, 05:40:29 AM
At this point Zcash only exists to reimburse Zcash developers for constructing SNARKS.

Once Ethereum incorporates SNARKS there will be no use for Zcash. As Zcash started high and terminated low, it's short existence will have paid for everything.

Thus, everyone wins. (As long as you don't buy).
+1. Anyone buying into Zcash must be ignorant of this fact.

Snarks means that with smart contracts zcash transactions can be integrated on ethereum blockchain. It is like an independent exchange so that the users can choose to create anonymous tokens and verify Zcash transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. I don't see how this is bad for zcash, since it will generate more demand for zcash. Read here https://blog.ethereum.org/2017/01/19/update-integrating-zcash-ethereum/. This reminds me of DAO tokens which convert to ethereum. The only problem could be if there is a vulnerability used by some hacker like DAO, which is quite probable since even now zcash wallet has a ddos vulnerability, monitored closely by the developers. However, the
'bad' news didn't affect the price and even a big pump occured yesterday (again).

zCash is getting market support. zClassic and zencoin will also be interesting.

Zcash has never lost its market support to begin with. It's predecessor zClassic may get the same kind of support at some point as it continue to develop.
Zcash worst enemy is Zcash itself. High start price, more coins mined and dumped by the miners will put Zcash in a for ever bear market unless the demand will increase. That why Zcash is always decreasing and sometimes it pumps

Every 'big' mining coin has periods of bear trend. This is the time the mining and trading whales accumulate huge quantity of the coin. Then they spent some bitcoins to start a 100-1000% pump so they sell at that price. This is the story of eth, etc and now zcash. Since 24 Feb Zcash is in bull trend. This was anticipated and predicted by informed people on some forums. I didn't believe and now I regret it. Moreover, zcash is supported by Ethereum developers, which plan to integrate it on their blockchain for anonymity in near futue. https://btcmanager.com/devcon2-update-zcash-integration-scaling-and-adoption/

Guys, do you want ZEC to rise? If you do, why you put 40-50-60 btc sell walls on poloniex during pumps? Do you really think that your lazy trading will bring you profit? Place small bids several times during the pump if you are so eager to sell at that price. Thank you!

Doubtful it is the miners, as most who are going to sell, sell small amounts daily and not accumulate 40-60 BCT worth of ZEC to just to place a sell wall as you describe a few pennies higher than the market rate. Much more likely the action of speculators and/or whales trying to manipulate the price.

So is there a way for miners to help raise ZEC?

If Zec makes 5-6% there is every chance  the pump will gain speed and reach 20-50 and even 100%. It is a pity that all pumps ended too early because of 1-2 noobs that put sell walls. The moment they put 20 and more btc the pump stops, because the traders see that there is no way this wall will be eaten provided that the 24hr volume is so small and the usual trades are around 1-2 btc max. Of course the bid will never be filled so the noob gets no profit at all but he damages the profits of the whole community.

Hey Guys
Can i mine Zec with my rx 480  8gb nitro+

and what mhs per card it will give me

Thanks  Smiley

Yes you can, but I think these cards are more profitable for ETH or ETC if you pay the electricity. Check out the mining calculator http://whattomine.com.

Is it a good investment guys? I feel like stuck because since I got some, its been going down at polo.
Will I ever be able to recover? Any idea of a pump any time soon?

My guess is that zcash (zec) will reach 0.1 btc by the end of the year tops (most probably in 3-4 months). Looking at what happened to monero, ethereum (ETH) and ethereum classic (ETC) I see a similar pattern. ETH and ETC were dropping for months until they exploded. Who could know that when ETH was again at 6$ it will become 50-60$ after only 3 months. But this all has its explanation. The big mining whales have resources to cause 100-1000% increase of the price. So I guess the 100% increase of ZEC that already happened won't be alone. At least I hope so because I bought back all my mined ZEC.
1807  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 27, 2017, 08:48:06 PM
It is becoming more evident that the likelihood of Bitcoin Unlimited being executed as a hard fork solution is substantially low. One major factor which ultimately drove the community and miners away from Bitcoin Unlimited is its development team’s inability to prevent severe bugs and internal technical issues from being exploited.

1808  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 26, 2017, 12:05:48 AM
The whole BTC 'crash' is fake and is organized by bitcoin 'Jesus' 'Judas' himself. Today thousands of BTC were dumped with no reason at all exchanges simultaneously. A classic example: BTC rose to 980 USD on Polo and Bitfinex. Sell bids like 100-ish BTC and more were eaten easily. And then... 200 BTC dump on Polo Buy Book and 200 BTC dump on Bitfinex as low as 950 USD! This is the dirty war of this 'Jesus' against Core team.  These people lost their minds thinking with 300K BTC can do whatever they want. Not gonna happen, losers!  Grin
1809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 24, 2017, 10:21:14 PM
BU is not designed to fork until they have 75% of hashrate. By the time this happens BTC will worth a lot less. How much time is needed for morons like bitcoin 'Jesus' or rather 'Judas' to realize that they will lose everything in terms of fiat? BU will never have the economy support. The current crash is the most obvious evidence for that.
So is this the result of a hard fork?
It was talked about for weeks now and has it finally happened?

How will we be certain of it happening? BTU showing up on exchanges?

What I meant is even theoretically one day BU reaches 75%, Roger Ver (aka bitcoin Jesus) and his supporters (like Jihan Wu) will lose a lot in therms of fiat because bitcoin economy strongly supports the Core team and Segwit. I personally don't believe BU will ever reach 75%. I hope the common sense (which, in fact, is not quite common in bitcoin world) will prevail and these guys change their mind to support Segwit scaling solution.

In case of HF, exchanges will probably include BTU or whatever is called but only if BU developers make replay attacks impossible by changing their code. Then everyone with BTC will have the same amount of BTU and can spend them according to the price at the exchanges. But currently BU is quite buggy and replay attacks are a real danger, moreover devs show no interest in fixing this issue. This will make impossible BTU withrawals and causing a big mess. Bitcoin wallets will face the same problem although some of them like Electrum already have a guide for splitting the coins.

My Sapphire 280x toxic cards continue to hang almost every hour or two. I tried every possible settings for power, clocks, intensity, VM set to 24 GB and nothing works. Most of the cases -wd 1 or -r 0 options manage to restart the miner but sometimes the zecminer window is frozen, I can't even manually or with killing with the task manager close it. Is there a script that can recognize when a zecminer window is not responding and then restarting the windows? I know that -r 1 can restart but I don't want to do it so often. It will waste too much time since in 4 out of 5 cases -r 0 does the job.
Use v12.1 and be calm
12.1, even 11.xx is the same story

I still have stability issues with my Sapphire 280x Toxic cards, no matter intensity or clocks.
1814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.3 (Windows/Linux) on: March 09, 2017, 07:12:57 AM
My Sapphire 280x tri-x hang often with 12.3 (with stock clock and voltage). With 12.0 they work well, with 12.1 and 12.2 one of them keeps hanging, and with 12.3 all of them hang  Huh Tried lowering clocks, intensity and lowering/raising power control with no effect.

Today I had some issues with flypool. All of my rigs were like crazy - sudden hash drops, hangs, or no hangs but zero hash. I switched to other pool and the rigs are fine now.

zec will start rally soon, dont worry child Wink

You've got it right! Over 20% pump is going on. Hopefully won't follow a dump  Cool

4x 280x, 1 of my cards restarts the rig even without asm and with i 0, I can't reduce it any lower, had to revert to 11.1, no OC at all.

The same problem here. One of my 280x hangs causing multiple restarts of the watchdog!  Never happened before!

now price will go down... i lose today 2000$ on trading with this shit coin it's worse than zec...
blame the coin, obviously!
i blame myself not coin...
And I lost 2500$ trading this shitcoin. Now, I have to mine 6 months to return my money  Cry
1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v11.1 (Windows/Linux) on: January 16, 2017, 11:27:13 PM
Overall is speed improvement, depends of cards, for me notable speed increase is for 290/390
For me v11 vs v11.1-
280x: 240-->245 S/s (2%)
390:   325-->355 S/s (9%)

Damn, the increase speed is awesome but my rig is getting more and more heat and its summer here lol. Anyone did a comparison between mining zec and eth too see which one consume more energy?
I think both are nearly the same. It depends how much undervolting can take each algorithm. For me zcash is by a tiny bit less power consuming.
Currently here is a winter with -20 C outside. Inside it is +25 C because I have rigs in each room  Roll Eyes. Excellent solution for heating the appartment  Grin. But for the summer it is a hell. Two AC 1200 are not enough. I will need a third AC or have to figure out some way of channelling  the heat outside. Huh

how do you fight dry air if its + 25 inside? I was thinking to use these for heating.... but it would be just too dry inside.

Humidifier(s) or an evaporative cooler (which is basically a large-scale humidifier designed to take advantage of the cooling effect of water vaporising)

true true... but i still doubt its healthy to breathe the air which is coming from computer... theirs plastic stuff in GPU and so on. + i Have 2 kids Smiley if you live alone in the woods then maybe Smiley

Unless you are running your gpus hot enough to BURN them, no toxic vapors will be coming off them.  Computers are extremely clean, nothing to worry about.

With the electrical heating devices there is always an unpleasent smell from the electrical wire burning the dust. Also they dry the air and irritate the eyes. If you clean the dust from gpu's I don't see what can be a problem. This is the usual heat that is generated by cpu's and gpu's which can't burn anything.
