I just merged the trie sync fix with the master branch, as it seems to work pretty fine.
People using self compiled wallet please do "git pull" and recompile, then let me know.
Remember to do the usual wallet backups ;-)

Guess they're 'unclicking their safety' again... Weird... Was there a nigerian bank scandal somewhere that I missed where the prince's savings were converted to bitcoin causing a uptick in BTC?

It's almost like market has nothing to do with these things you guys are talking about... XD

yes, you're right, and everyone else is wrong, as usual ;-)

Hi everyone,

sorry for being unresponsive. Just came back home from a 3 week Africa safari. Internet was a bit difficult in the bush.
I'm restarting the daemon right now. It could be that the backup tasks killed it. We'll see ...

Update:
of course there's an issue. I'll keep working on it and inform you guys once it's back on.

Thanks!
What kind of issue are you experiencing?
If it's sync related, please try compiling the new wallet on the "trie_fix" branch.
1864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: March 18, 2017, 10:46:17 PM
The chinese exchanges finally released BTC withdrawals, probably most of those where dumped right away.

Pallas, ok I guess we better wait for the block explorer to clear out all the doubts.

I don't have ssh access to the block explorer VM, so I can't restart the wallet daemon, and I don't hear from gnasirator for a while now. I might need to make a new VM myself; if someone volunteers it'd be of great help, as I'm really short of time.
1866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite - NEW THREAD! | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW on: March 18, 2017, 01:20:24 PM
Im hoping to hear from the devs about the situation above.

I don't know about the web wallet, it might even be bugged. I think the priority now is a stable wallet and restoring the exchanges and block explorer. There are tons of things to do and none of the devs is working full time on this.
Instead of all the criticism, I'd like the community to help. If someone don't like the coin, there are tons of others to follow. Nobody is forcing anyone to stay on this boat.
If people like the coin, and there is a lot to like, please be more constructive and look at the code with us, offer hosting for the explorer, run a pool, run your own cryptonite node, spread the word, etc.

You guys have a lot of imagination.
There is no way, currently, to send xcn to btc38 nor to withdraw BTC.
What you see is just trading, the same coins over and over.
1868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite - NEW THREAD! | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW on: March 17, 2017, 01:33:17 PM
XCN has dug up 310 million, BTC38 stock is about 250 million, which means that the current stock of personal wallet and BTER only about 60 million, but the total amount of transactions this time BTER more than one hundred million, and every day there are a large number of XCN was sold, far more than BTC38 in the stock, this not to doubt it? Is not the repair of the wallet split the BTC38 that part of the personal wallet, and then used to sell bter above, this is a scam. Please official reply!

one hundred million? it says "9898079" which is less than 10M.
and again, the wallet is already fixed, you can compile it using the "trie_fix" branch.
on linux it's trivial.
you can even make your own windows build, but beware, it's a lot more difficult than it may seem.
1869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite - NEW THREAD! | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW on: March 17, 2017, 01:30:26 PM
While there is development work happening on the wallet, the backup feature does not work correctly, you
get notification it has saved but the file is not created.

This is in the list of things to fix (wallet backup).

There are two devs (plus myself) working on making a stable Windows build, can't tell eta but rest assured we are working hard on it.
It will be compatible with old wallets, unless there is reason not to.

Good to know pallas. Also when it's done and we have a flawless wallet and a block explorer, it would probably be a good idea to start promoting the coin through social networks like Twitter and Facebook. Having slack channel would be nice too. It would be a good way to get people's recognition and interest. Especially during this altcoin boom.

Also, being listed on a few more exchanges like Bittrex, Cryptopia or Yobit, or even try to get back to Poloniex would also be of benefit to this project.

The altcoin boom that is happening right now is just a great time for XCN to present itself Grin

P.S. Devs, I assume this twitter account is not active any more: https://twitter.com/CryptoniteCoin
P.P.S. Any plans for the future development? Smiley

As soon as the wallet is ready, I'll do my best to first re-activate btc38, then get relisted on poloniex.
I personally don't like cryptopia because they do a lot of fake orders to boost volume, and who knows what else.
Besides, 3 exchanges would be enough, maybe bittrex would make sense though.

Maybe bitfreak knows about the twitter account.
I hope the community can help us with promotion :-)

About future development, I've got a list of basic improvements to implement (after the wallet is finally fixed and stable).
Furthermore, if you look thru the site and the wiki, there are some ideas for improvements by the original dev, that have not been implemented yet (for example trie pruning).

Mismatched hashrates can result from wrong target/difficulty/bits calculation by the miner or the pool.
Then there are duplicate shares, stale shares, etc.
Can't even count all the possible causes.
1873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: March 15, 2017, 01:32:01 PM
i already know that is that table...

If you look at my github I did a Speedup in the quark algo that actually was a 30% speedup in blake-512. Not blake2s but similar.
I removed instructions and constant memory reads by using dynamic programming and precalculation.

https://github.com/sp-hash/ccminer/commit/68484024167132cdee5e71d57566c8aa5fdd1399

the same can't be done with blake2s (precalculating the XORs).
1874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: March 15, 2017, 12:48:07 PM
I don't think it's 50%, more like 33%.
1875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: March 15, 2017, 12:35:31 PM
sp blake2s could see an improvement of 50%, can you reproduce it?

you mean faster than alexis and tpruvot 2.0? they are already 2x compared to tpruvot 1.8...

What about presstab's block explorer service?
I would contributed towards a years hosting.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1189685.0

Let's see if gnasirator comes back, if he doesn't we will consider this service and some other I've been recently considering.

Besides, everybody can already compile the fix on linux, there is a trie_fix branch you can checkout. I tested it and it works fine so far.
We are just struggling with the windows compile because it has additional issues which may, or may not, require more changes to the sources; or maybe just different library versions or ways of compiling them.
1878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite - NEW THREAD! | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW on: March 15, 2017, 09:26:15 AM
More then 3 million sell wall for 9 and 10 sat in bter
And more then 20 million sold in 8 sat in 2 day ago
Who has such large amount?

1 or 2 month ago (before explorer crashed ) available supplies was 300 million
How many available supplies do we have now?

I suspect that the new team update XCN is a scam. Split the XCN, and then sell. Or was attacked by 51%. Block browser has been offline.

I think the first scenario is true
One month ago (before new team take the coin) price was at least 50 sat and now 7 sat! And going down so fast
And exactly 1 month ago (new team take the coin) block explore crashed
I am sure rate generation of xcn so much higher then before. And supplies very higher then 1 mouth ago

And volume on btc38 abvisly fake. Because who buying xcn for 80 or 90 sat when the price on bter is 7 sat!?

Dont buy xcn even on 1 sat until dev fix the block explorer (i dont think they fix it) and dev explain the situation for us

I took the development with bitfreak (who was in the original team, so nothing new) because the coin was starting to have issues with exchanges and the rest.
Instead of helping us fix the coin (and we are doing it for free) you are just bashing our work. That's not very encouraging.
Why are they buying on btc38? Because there are people day trading.
Why the price on bter is lower? Because there is currently no way to move those cheap coins to btc38 and sell them for a profit.
Why the explorer is not working? It looks like the wallet of that machine was closed or crashed; the guy who was hosting it doesn't reply to my messages.
The explorer code is opensource and everybody can use it.

Bitfreak is compiling the new wallet for windows and testing it.
Then we will release it for public testing.
Finally, when there are no reports of issues, we will release it to the exchanges and for everybody else.

Nice work pallas. I can then offer running core node. Also I will setup mining pool based on Yiimp.

Great! We need both :-)
