Teofimo Lopez Defeated Josh Taylor

I was really shocked Teofimo Lopez has proven that his speed is really something for Josh Taylor to be afraid of, and not just his speed but his fighting IQ aswell, well I was really wrong, but can we surely know what will be the results when the 2 boxer clash, but surely I think Teofimo Lopez is now ready for a much higher ranking in this division, his fight IQ and speed have already improve so yeah even though I was wrong that Josh Taylor could have a slight chance, it was really a dominating fight for Teofimo Lopez,

I watched their fight and indeed Teofimo Lopez won by unanimous points over Josh Taylor.
I also saw that his punching speed and fighting IQ were very good, even Josh Taylor seemed very overwhelmed by Teofimo Lopez's punches.
But after all Teofimo Lopez is a very good boxer and now he has the title of WBO Junior Welterweight World Champion.
It is possible that Teofimo Lopez will soon be able to get a higher rank in this division.

He has proven to us that he is truly a champion. His loss to Kambosos was probably because he was already struggling to maintain the required weight. Now, he is in a division where he feels very confident, as evidenced by this significant win. Although Josh Taylor also landed some good shots on Lopez, it was Lopez's speed and power that made the difference. Let's expect that he will continue to have big fights, and I'm sure he will once again be a tough challenger if he moves up in weight class.

His win against the former undisputed, Josh Taylor, did really erased all the controversies that he's been through mainly in his last fight versus Sandor Martin which he eventually got the WBO International because people including me thought that he didn't deserve to win the fight. But in this fight, he proved to the world that he's not that bad and can be underestimated with because not everyone has the talent to defeat Josh Taylor as Teo is the first one to give the former his first loss.

Congratulations again, Teofimo Lopez! And my bet was lost Grin
1882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beterbiev Vs Smith AUG 19 2023 SATURDAY IBF / WBC / WBO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Title on: June 11, 2023, 08:50:26 PM

Although Bivol and his camp shows intentions already to make this fight with Beterbiev. However, Beterbiev will have to go and win against Smith first. The thoughts of this 2 Russians fighting for the unification came to fruition when Bivol and his camp are not satisfied with what Canelo is offering them for a rematch. For them at least a good 50/50 split will make sense since Bivol already beat Canelo in their first fight. But it seems Canelo still wanted to get the biggest split of the purse and the money in the table which for now Bivol and his team rejected.

I've read Canelo's announcement and its arrogant for him to give Bivol that kind of a deal he was dominated, if he wants to avenge his loss and prove that he can beat the guy he should have given Bivol a fair deal to make the fight happen, Canelo knows Bivol will not accept the offer so Canelo can justify why he doesn't want to fight Bivol.

Light heavyweight will never be Canelo's territory because it is ruled by two of the most powerful punchers in Bivol and Beterbiev, Canelo should not over-extend himself.

Canelo still have the leverage over getting big cuts even when he is only a leftover. Can't say he doesn't have a place but because the promotion is with him, he can dictate terms.
Bivol vs AB I guess will happen if that is the case. Which promotion will take them can be a question. Would it be easy to promote a fight where the main event are both Russian? Adding big names in the main card will probably make the hype.

Yes, it is true that Canelo still have the leverage to be in the A-side after all what happened to him recently but asking for a rematch while having the same terms? That is quite absurd because they thought that Bivol will just agree with it just because fighting Canelo is a sure money, but no. Bivol's camp and manager, Vadim Kornilov, is not interested with it as they think that Canelo is just underestimating them for giving the same terms instead of him chasing them as Canelo was the one who lost the first fight.
1883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 11, 2023, 08:30:50 PM
As you know Heat finished the regular season in 7th place in the Eastern Conference. As a result not many people including me were giving them a chance to have a run like this. Butler has done the biggest work in this time period by scoring a lot of points and carrying his team. He has become like Lakers' Lebron or Warriors' Curry.

Therefore Butler needs to be aware of the seriousness of the situation and do something.

I'm guilty about that as well because at first, I didn't have that much confidence towards the Heat especially in the first round where they faced the New York Knicks which they eventually defeated but in the second round, it was almost impossible for me to believe that they can defeat the #1 seed in the East which they did as well. But in the conference finals, that's when I have put my faith in them and it turns out profitable because they managed to eliminate the Celtics and almost swept them after having a 3-0 advantage.

I doubted them through every series.  Of the series I thought they could win was the Celtics one because they match up well against them.  They got help with giannis getting hurt in game one.  But this one might end up being a quick 5 game gentlemen sweep.  I'm leaning hard on Denver all the way through.  No answer for jokic.  And if Murray is on forget it no chance.

It's not that totally unfair where we can say that they got helped from Giannis getting hurt in Game 1 which eventually leaded to certain games of unavailability because the Miami Heat also have their own handicap as Herro and Oladipo's absence really gave the team some troubles too instead of having a much higher win rate per game in a specific series. I mean, look at them now, they surely needed someone who can also handle defense and give some offense but even if Tyler Herro is already available, it's not a wise move to insert him to the team in this phase.
1884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: June 11, 2023, 07:25:10 AM
I think what Spence said before is that he is willing to go up in weight at 154 lbs and then fight Charlo. Although there's too much complication on it, they have the same trainer and could have some sparring between themselves.

But for fans, let's say we should be more concern of this fight first, this is huge and for the undisputed belt.

I saw boxer deviating from his current opponent suffers a defeat.  Those who are thinking of his next opponent while he is scheduled to fight another opponent often messed up his fight.  So Spence Jr. must put all his focus on beating Crawford if he don't want to end up kissing the canvas.

It might be possible if we're talking about superwelter weight because I agree that the mentioned division is really achievable by Errol Spence Jr. but towards Canelo Alvarez's division? I think that it will be too much for now considering both boxers situation and might be hard to make it possible even if Canelo will meet Spence in the middle, although when it comes to money, they might able to do that though. Who knows.
1885  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: June 11, 2023, 06:57:30 AM

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5455909.msg62383274#msg62383274

Josh Taylor looking to knock out Teofimo Lopez early as he warns: 'I'm unlocking my full potential'
This is what I wanted to hear from Josh Taylor because he was been so quiet lately and the last time he showed his face in the public was the interview he had in the middle of Garcia vs Tank fight, IIRC. Now I know that Teofimo is also careful and can eat a couple of punch but when the fight started to drag longer, I really doubt that he can still keep up with Josh Taylor and probably the fight will result into a KO/TKO.
And Timothy Bradley is also backing up Josh Taylor to win this match, he says Teofimo Lopez doesn't have the firepower he had at 135 pounds because of the bigger fighter at 140 pounds.
Quote
“So I’m going with Taylor because he’s the veteran at 140 pounds of his career. He’s fought a lot of tough guys in the weight class, including Regis Prograis. I’m going on his body of work and what he’s done over the course of,” said Tim Bradley to Fighthype about his choice for Saturday’s match between Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez.
Source: Tim Bradley Picks Josh Taylor Over Teofimo Lopez For Saturday - Boxing News 24 (https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/06/tim-bradley-picks-josh-taylor-over-teofimo-lopez-for-saturday/)

These two fighters are getting spicy at their trash-talking.
Josh Taylor just recently walked out of a joint interview because he said Teofimo Lopez is talking "absolute waffle". Grin "He doesn't make sense and he is boring", said Taylor.
Then a threat came out from Lopez, he said he will take the life of Josh Taylor. I don't know if they should investigate this or not, but we rarely heard a boxer say those kinds of things. Anywhere it goes, it is still a sport, you don't want the other boxer to die because you are both sportsmen. This ain't war. I think Lopez is making this personal and not in a good way, it's so deep that he could say such things.

Top Rank even increased their security just so these two won't be injured before the fight happens. They know the fire is burning too hot and they have to protect them or else we won't see a fight in the boxing ring.
It's not just Timothy Bradley but there are several boxers too who spoke up that Josh Taylor will be too difficult for Teo Lopez to handle.
Besides, it doesn't really matter who is backing it up or even someone will back up Teofimo Lopez because I don't think that it is still not clear for everyone to know that Teofimo Lopez is just way out of Josh Taylor's league. I mean, yes, he does have some chance but that chance is probably so slim that we cannot even see Teo winning and defeating Josh Taylor on the process.

I don't know if Taylor does all these things to get more attention, he knows very well that saying these words turns everything on, in part I don't blame him, maybe it's a strategy to be able to perform better, maybe when he In the match between these two, things can be seen far from a knockout, of course I am not saying that they are lies, but here things in boxing have to give way to the show, in part many win by betting and the business is in the bets and these words are like adding fuel to the fire, so I see it as normal, as something of a natural rivalry between boxers.

Josh Taylor, Teofimo Lopez Make Weight; Jamaine Ortiz Overweight, Scratched From Undercard

Quote
Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez were kept completely apart again Friday after they made weight at Madison Square Garden.

Taylor talked trash and pointed at his head to indicate that he is mentally stronger than Lopez. A calmer Lopez looked directly at Taylor from across the stage, but the former unified lightweight champion didn’t say anything to his opponent before they went their separate ways.

Moments earlier, Taylor stepped on the New York State Athletic Commission scale at 139.8 pounds. Lopez was slightly heavier, as he stripped naked and officially weighed in at their division’s maximum of 140 pounds.

Scotland’s Taylor, 32, will defend his WBO junior welterweight title against Lopez on Saturday night in New York. Brooklyn’s Lopez, 25, is the mandatory challenger for Taylor’s title.

You mean Teofimo Lopez?

Well, yes, there is a good chance that it was planned to add some hype between them and to even market the fight to have a lot of attention from the public. I mean, that is surely not new because we have already saw plethora of boxers and camps who have done the same thing, so it's not really that shocking anymore. But let's see because I have a feeling that Teo might have crossed the line when he tried to burn Josh Taylor thru some words, it might be interesting though because Taylor have already said some few words too after that.
1887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: June 10, 2023, 04:29:00 PM

And it now happened, WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Marlon Tapales might now be the PH boxer who has the chance to face Naoya Inoue first, instead of the expectation of the majority, that it's Casimero who is currently still climbing the 122 division rankings. Of course, Tapales meeting Inoue soon will just happen if the latter will win against Fulton.

If Stephen Fulton wins against Naoya Inoue, Marlon Tapales instead will unify his belt against him. If Fulton still wins, Tapales might meet Inoue as both will be a contender but the status of Casimero when that time comes might still be hanging because he can't even secure a big fight "for now" to somehow give him a chance to climb at a much higher rank.

There's also a possibility that later in the 122 division, a PH vs PH might face each other.

Well then, too early for these speculations mine Smiley. What matter here is, Tapales is now almost secured to have the next big fight on his timeline.

What you're saying is not entirely impossible mate because as long as Casimero will stay active and have successive fights, soon enough, his ranking will surely increase and most probably will earn himself a big fight someday. Although there might be some changes when it comes to the possible opponent of Casimero, Inoue and Tapales because I think Fulton will shuffle all the cards in time when he leaves the division and vacates the belt he is possessing, if he won his future fight with Inoue.
1888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: June 10, 2023, 04:01:58 PM

So we should still be looking for Donaire to fight this year for the belt, hopefully July is suitable for both fighters and it should be in USA. No doubt that he still has a lot of fans and followers, Filipino or non-Filipinos.
This is a championship fight, so it will likely be held in the US. People are already bored as they are not witnessing much real action in boxing. Perhaps after Inoue vs Fulton, we will have the opportunity to witness this particular fight.

Since Donaire might only fight once this year, if it happens, next year could potentially feature a unification fight. It remains to be seen whether it will be against Jason Moloney or Takuma Inoue, as it would require agreement from the other champions involved.

Donaire's road is getting blurry as the time goes by, don't take it wrong because I really wanted to see him fight as long as he thinks he can and I will support him on his journey. But judging his current situation, most of us here already know that it is not that good and the thing is, we are not receiving any updates at all about what happened about his fight because the last time that his name was featured was when Santiago was selected to fight him and then nothing follows after that.

Donaire should speak up about his real situation because even if we have some speculations, that is still a speculation and will not be a fact if neither one of the two camps will confirm it. For Donaire, he surely wanted a fight that will make his pocket heavy and that is why he ought to give an update to his fans.

1890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 09, 2023, 03:40:59 PM
That's sad news because they did really waive CP3. Well, who knows if his era is about to end but that's not what I am hearing from the rumors and the one that I'm hearing is about the Lakers eyeing him. It's possible that he gets to play with Lebron if ever he'll stay in the Lakers. I know that teams won't let it pass that if there's an opportunity to take CP3, they'll take him. He's able to help the Suns to get to where they've landed this season and that's commendable to him, he'll sure find another home.

Paul and James both have guaranteed contracts for next season. So my guess is that James will most likely stay with the Lakers, but Paul's situation isn't so clear-cut. I mean, Paul is quite an expensive asset for any team since his salary should be $30.8 million for next season. So if the Lakers really want to get Paul, it won't be an easy task for them because they have nothing to offer the Suns in such a deal.

The Lakers don't have any problems regarding about that because they can always get CP3 as they can still afford the contract entailed to him but the problem is, Chris Paul is not that useful anymore because just like anybody else in the league, when they are getting older, it is expected that their performance will also decline. Even LeBron James is having some difficulties already even if he's still having a good stats. So, Chris Paul's contract doesn't really fit him being an asset because most of the time, he's a liability instead of an asset.

Good luck sa ating lahat kabayan.

Good luck!

But on the gambler's side, for sure the chance is too slim, not generalizing but for sure the most part of it will lose to the house.
Yep, the house always wins and that's a reality that we all know. But despite that, we're still here and there trying to win some and lose more than what we're winning.

Precisely, despite the fact that gamblers already aware that losing is more compared to a possible win, they are still insisting to try to with a high hope that they will make something with luck, but most of the time, either they will waste the opportunity out of greed or luck will not show up and just let them lose their deposit money.

And what will happen after is just like a same actual patterns where you can continue to go with the cycle and house always have that
great advantage against you.

But sometimes, there are scenarios that we still came out fine and still have the winnings in our hands even though we sort of forget our boundaries in the middle of an activity and was pretty greedy because of the money in the table. But that is really not advisable because there is no telling when we will experience that again as it's certain to say that it's not everyday where luck will be always on our side.
1893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: June 08, 2023, 08:22:57 PM
When I was in UAE, which is also a Muslim country, there were possibilities to buy alcohol and I saw a lot of male people walking hand by hand on the streets and kissing each other. Why in UAE, in hotels bar you can freely buy alcoholic drinks? The laws of Islam does not work in hotel then? Turkey is another Muslim country - alcohol is available in every corner of the street. Why then some countries can adopt their culture for foreigners and other dont? People that complain about Qatar restrictions are overreacting imho, and of course some of them "special category of people that have zero respect towards others". They will always find something to be dissatisfied with.

I don't think bad ideas when alcoholic is not allowed at FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, all matches play on time and never any problem due many people disagree after Qatar not allowed with alcoholic until LGBT. Should respect with the rule in some country and the most important about all football matches is running well without any problem yet.

Next FIFA World Cup 2026 will play with non Muslim country and not any allowed adopt there like in Qatar, lets waiting how the infrastructure there have better than Qatar or not. Never push when Muslim country become the host for FIFA World Cup with their rule and need respect for all us, seems many people not happy with rule adopt in Qatar but they not appreciated with most amazing infrastructure until how every match attend full in stadium.

First off, there's really nothing wrong from prohibiting alcoholic drinks because Qatar is not a place to get wild and everything, people go there to enjoy the culture and other things that Qatar can offer. As from the recent World Cup, people surely could use some alcoholic drinks but since they are in a Muslim country with a different culture and rules, it's certainly not that hard to understand because we have a duty to have some slight study before we go such places so that we can know more about what are the do's and don'ts.
1894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: June 08, 2023, 07:59:25 PM
In any case, I reckon the sportsbooks might be making a mistake on these new odds. Spence is physically stronger and his skills appear to be very much equal with Crawford, I reckon. Similar to Haney vs. Loma, I change my pick again. I am on team Spence!

I don't think that the sports bookies made a mistake in putting Crawford as their favorite, this punters know how to put and who is going to be the favorite as they look on several factors. And even before the announcement of the fight itself, I think majority thinks that Crawford will be the favorite going into this fight and that's what happen right now.

There are some instances that the bookies made some mistake on their odds because sometimes they failed to have a real pulse on what the people is thinking and the real score between a fight or game, but that's just rare to happen. And a big fight like this? There is exactly no way that these sports bookies will mess up their odds, other than that, the odds presented and published are exactly the ones as well that has been shown in most casinos in Las Vegas, NV.

Donaire may not be at his best shape, but he needs training and needs opportunities

We wouldn't know about his current form unless we see him fight. Based on what I've observed in all of Inoue's fights, he always appears to be in his best shape. However, there have been instances where he has lost due to his strategy not working against a superior boxer, such as Inoue. Nevertheless, against Santiago, who is not on the same level as Inoue, I am confident that Inoue will come out on top and win the fight. The only thing lacking for him now is the opportunity, and this fight should happen soon.

When it comes to hyperinflation, you can't trust banks with your money, not because they might go bankrupt, but mainly because the value of your money will significantly drop due to the crisis. As a crypto investor, I agree with your decision to convert your money to Bitcoin and save it for your future. Bitcoin has shown positive growth when looking at the big picture. I know some experts would argue that putting your money in Bitcoin is too risky, but isn't hyperinflation even riskier as it affects everyone?
Both has risks. It is a good thing to invest in Bitcoin for long term but to put everything into it won't be advisable. Always manage the risk right?
Yes, we manage the risk. However, given the circumstances presented by OP, we were only left with two options: putting our money in a bank that will be affected by hyperinflation or converting it into Bitcoin. Which one would you choose? The answer is quite obvious; it's a matter of choosing between right and wrong. You would choose the right option every time, which is investing in Bitcoin.
1897  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: June 07, 2023, 05:05:47 PM

Wasn't really a wise choice because that statement he released will really make his image bad and could potentially ruin his career if his next few fights will sell much lower compared to what they had in Haney vs Loma fight where they only had below 200k PPV buys. What is the use of being a champion if organizers and promoters are already not making that much money out of him, sooner or later, he will be thrown under the bus if he will not rectify his moves and be cautious about the words.
And that is something Haney does not seem to understand, judges often can give a close victory to a new promising boxer over a veteran as they see in them the ability to make a lot of money, and there is little doubt promoters are in it as well, so even if we cannot deny Haney is a good boxer it seems to me he was given the win over Lomachenko for similar reasons, however if he damages his image to the point promoters cannot make money out of his fights then he should not be surprised if he is on the receiving end of a similar maneuver.
If Devin Haney will commit the same mistakes again and will not think twice before spitting some nonsense yet spicy words, he might leave Bob Arum with no other choice but to proceed with another future star and will start capitalizing on him rather than Haney because Bob Arum himself doesn't want controversies or be connected to an issue that his own boxer has started.

Haney should understand his situation fully because he is starting to be a liability to Top Rank and with his plans nowadays, he might get some unwanted struggle in signing a new contract with another promotion if he will not change his antics.

And most likely it will be Shakur Stevenson, Arum is building up this kid to the point that we want to see him fight Haney or even Loma at this point. However, Haney might go and shift to Match room so the potential fight might be shelved for a while.

So most likely it will be Stevenson vs Loma, maybe for a title eliminator if ever Haney decided to move up in weight. Or willing to face the winner of that fight, (if negotiations push through).

There is still some room left for Devin Haney to finish what he started at lightweight division, over all, he is already done sweeping the whole division and before he start to consider leaving the weight class, he should fight Shakur Stevenson first as he probably wanted that in this situation where majority of people are already doubting at him as he was not that impressive against Lomachenko, who could have defeated him if he wasn't having some +1 in the judge's favor.

Also, I think this is also the plan of Bob Arum to replace Devin Haney before the latter can proceed in signing towards another promoter. Besides, when marketing a fight, Shakur knows it well compared to Haney.

But if Haney wanted to step up in weight to Junior Welterweight, then Bob Arum can't do anything about it anymore. Yes Shakur wanted to fight but the burden is now on Haney or at least he has the total control of the situation. That is the only fight that matters now at 135 for Haney, Shakur or Tank Davis, and maybe that is the reason why he didn't sign to Top Rank, because only Shakur will be the guarantee fight for him. After that there's none, and the Junior Welterweight has only Josh Taylor and Teo Lopez for Top Rank. So maybe Haney will go up in weight and chase other champions that has been in the control of PBC or Al Haymon.

Yes, I agree. Haney knows the situation very well and that is why he is now making some moves towards another banner so that he can see the horizon in a much wider picture and he knows as well that sooner or later, he will be facing Shakur Stevenson as that will be Bob Arum's only remaining undefeated cow at 135 and they will start to scout some belts, while on the other hand, he does have a huge chance to make a fight with Tank Davis as Tank is one of the PBC's dogs.

I was favouring Nuggets for this game honestly. I thought a scenario like this:

- Nuggets make the series 2-0 first.
- Then Heat make it 2-2.
- After that we would see a 3-2 and 3-3.
- At the end we would see Nuggets winning the series by 4-3 and winning their first ever championship also.

But Heat surprised me by winning Game 2 by only a 3-point gap. There wasn't actually a very impressive individual performance at Heat side. But there was when it comes to Nuggets. Jokic really did his best - 41 pts, 11 reb. This guy definitely deserves a championship because of his high effort throughout the season so far.

But we both know that having that kind of stats is certainly not enough to keep the team afloat or even win a chip at the end of this series, after all, it should be a team effort and that will be a very big factor for a team to win. The Miami Heat might not have that kind of stats or did have an impressive performance individually but they did played the game as a team and that was the reason why they overcome the Nuggets lead and tied the series.

Always expect the unexpected especially in this kind of scenario where both teams are underrated and highly unpredictable. They shouldn't be here playing in the Finals if they are not that good.
