1901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs are eyeing to create their own digital asset! on: August 15, 2020, 04:56:25 PM
Facebook Libra was supposed to be something similar. Who uses Libra today? Nobody.

To me another bank launching its crypto is not an important piece of news.
AFAIK, Libra is yet to be launched by the facebook and the are facing regulation issues on most of the countries so another fiat based tokens will face the same issue if it is not going to be backed by particular fiat. And its is not really an important news because crypto investments may never consider these kind of tokens as worth to invest since its just a stable coin.

I thought the project was abandoned. They faced so much negative feedback from the government that there won't be any libra.

Zuck probably took it all personal again just like when he was roasted at that congress hearing.
1902  Economy / Economics / Re: Some chinese guy bought most expensive face mask in the world $1.5 million. on: August 15, 2020, 04:44:18 PM
I don't get why govs don't  put 99.9% income tax on this f...kers ...?

Are you a socialist? Who gives you the right to steal from people? Maybe he worked hard to get his first million and then money made money.

It's easy to make money when you already have a lot. Those who have 50 million dollars or more can make another million every year just by moving their money around while we poor people work hard to get 10 thousand a year but I wouldn't try to steal from them. Property is untouchable.

Yes i am a socialist !

That explains a lot.

So, you like to put your hands in other people's pockets and tell them how they should live their lives.
Is there anything else we should know about your political views?

If rich people are wasting their money, then someone will get benefited from that wasted money. If the stored it rather than wasting then that will be more harmful to the economy.
But, yes you can question their morality, that they can help directly to the poor people rather than spending it on expensive products.

Correct thinking. A money put in motion always helps someone. There's plenty of luxury goods being sold all over the world and there's no crying about a billionaire who bought a helicopter or an island but a stupid mask makes people angry.
1903  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will you do when Bitcoin reach$20k? on: August 15, 2020, 03:43:57 PM
I was in the market few years ago when bitcoin almost reached $20k. I wasn't acting then (hodling for few years already) and I think a lot about when I should act next.

I wonder what other people who hodl bitcoin for few years plan to do.

Do you have a price in mind than when bitcoin will reach it, only then you plan to sell?

I'm buying low and selling high so every price increase is a reason for celebration for me and if Bitcoin reach another all time high and reaches $20 k I'll have a small celebration because it's another milestone to celebrate an all time high that we all we are waiting for.

If you buy low and sell high will you buy or sell at 20 thousand? Will it be low or high?

The answer isn't as simple as most people think. When Bitcoin broke 1000 dollars for the second time that 1000 from being an all time high became the starting point of another bubble and years later we see that we've never even come close to going back there. So we can say that the ATH of 2013 became the no entry zone after the next halving and remained like that for another 3 years.
1904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if Tether (USDT) flips Ethereum (ETH)? on: August 15, 2020, 03:35:19 PM
Considering that most people "follow the money", they might invest more thoroughly in USDT than ETH itself. They don't care if it's centralized, as long as they're able to profit from it. I believe that the stablecoin craze will last for quite some time, until the demise of COVID-19. After that, USDT's position on the market might return to "pre-pandemic" levels. The fact that market cap tells nothing other than the value of all coins in circulation, should not leave us worrying about USDT replacing ETH anytime soon.

All in all, the rise of USDT's popularity in the mainstream world should be more beneficial than harmful for ETH in the long run. After all, Tether (USDT) runs on the ETH blockchain. For people to be able to send/receive USDT transaction on-chain, they're required to spend some "ETH" which serves as a fee for the smart contract to perform its operations. In case USDT goes down the drain, another centralized stablecoin will take its place on the market. Since most centralized stablecoins live on the ETH blockchain, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap has nothing to lose. Just my opinion Smiley

Well said. People like to take unneeded risk and I've seen plenty of it in the altcoin subforum where people are asking if they should invest their coins into upcoming altcoins just to catch a possible pump. They already have a volatile coin like ETH and are thinking of ways to increase the risk of holding it.

While I would never choose a centralized stablecoin over a coin that serves as its base I understand why these coins might be successful in the coming years.
1905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With this recent surge in BTC, is it possible to have all time high this year? on: August 15, 2020, 03:22:16 PM
The shortest answer is yes because we really can't say that it's impossible. It's unprobable though at least to me.

Bitcoin is like a train it needs a lot of time to gain speed but once it happens it's hard to stop and usually outperforms. If we break 20 thousand we will not stop at mere 25 or 30.
1906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Original Bitcoin Holder! HoDL HoDL HoDL on: August 15, 2020, 03:13:57 PM
He sounds full of doubt in that video.

If he doen't support the term anymore maybe he shouldn't be praised so much for coining it.

Don't hate me for saying it but I like people who stand behind their values until the end.
1907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is FORSAGE a Ponzi scheme? on: August 13, 2020, 11:10:43 PM
I can't believe there are so many warning signs and even tweets from crypto celebrities and people still come to the forum to ask if it is a scam. Sad

Is there not enough legit projects you can invest in that you have to always look for the most shady looking obvious ponzis to put your money in?

1909  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trader made 89% profit in minutes. Have anyone experienced it..? on: August 13, 2020, 10:50:05 PM
Yes this was arbitrage trading like some of you have noticed but as much as I appreciate his guts and planning I also see that the whole system built on fake stablecoin trading can turn on us one day.

He made money trading usdt, a coin that is built of lies and probably used to manipulate the market. You can keep making fake money and lying about it but one day it will all come crashing down and those who will hold stablecoins at that point will lose like those who had money on Gox or BTCe when they went down.
1910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Police Arrest on: August 13, 2020, 10:43:44 PM
The former branch chief is suspected of illegally installing and mining cryptocurrencies with “professional hardware” using the company power grid for nearly six months, according to a report published by a local news outlet RNS
I thought that the bitcoin is legal already in Russia? What is the issue about using professional hardware if the bitcoin and crypto currencies are already legal from their country? I couldn't get the point?

And what has legality to do with stealing power?

You can have a legal tesla car and charge it by hooking up to your neighbor's power meter. In will not be legal and you will pay a fine if they catch you.

Mining is legal. Mining at work without having a permit for it is illegal. Stealing power is illegal. Also this was a fire risk.
1911  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Never try any Wallet for freebies, Use only trusted Wallets on: August 13, 2020, 10:06:57 PM
It's like that with most things. The more you pay the better service you get.

A free wallet from unknown source will usually be a scam. A trusted free wallet will be better but a hardware wallet will be the best and the safest.

Don't forget to verify the key when you download any of the wallets and get a copy of all your keys and phrases in case you download that trojan that encrypts your files.
1912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if Tether (USDT) flips Ethereum (ETH)? on: August 13, 2020, 09:59:35 PM
What will they do if it happens? Invest in usdt? It's a pretty bad idea since usdt is completely centralized and is supposed to follow the dollar value. It's almost impossible to make money holding it and the risk is far greater than with Bitcoin.

USDT can bail at any moment and elave you with nothing. When people follow the money and ignore the facts the suffer the consequences.
1913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting CoinDesk about "Dirty" Gold and "Dirty" Bitcoin on: August 13, 2020, 09:05:05 PM
How much of circulating bitcoin is "clean" anyway ?

"Dirtiness" only matters if most coins are clean.

It's my opinion as well. The average user has no access to these chainanalysis tools and will not check if the coins he receives are clean so it's unfair to ban their coins from acceptance because they were mixed or stolen once.

What if by the time exchanges really stop accepting tainted coins at least half of all bitcoins in circulation will be tainted? Are we going to cut tradable supply in half?
1914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a Fake Bitcoin? on: August 12, 2020, 10:50:45 PM
Yes.

It's called Bitcoin Cash.

Smiley

Another one is Bitcoin Satoshi Vision.

I am not a BCash or Bitcoin Fork fan, but I kinda disagree with this assumption that these are fake bitcoins. Remember, when someone counterfeits Fiat currencies, they make an exact (or close) copy of the original Fiat currencies. (notes or coins)

These forked coins are not an exact copy of the original Bitcoin (BTC) ....they tweaked several aspects of it and they used a different token to differentiate it from the original.

The strategy with these tokens are to use the word "Bitcoin" in their token to confuse people, in the hope that they would buy the wrong coin. (Just a cheap marketing strategy, like telling people that you have a Sale of up to 80% off on all items and you only have 2 items at a 80% reduction on the price.)  Roll Eyes

You don't need to make an exact copy to have a fake something. The important part is trying to sell the product as the original.

Some altcoins are doing more of it and some are doing less. Like BTG isn't really trying to scam people by telling everyone it's the one and only.

Both BCH and BSV are. BCH by confusing people that there's bitcoin cash and bitcoin core and bitcoin cash is better Wink and BSV by trying to sell this whole "I am Satoshi and this is my Bitcoin" lie.
1915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investment advice needed from experts on: August 12, 2020, 10:43:50 PM
I don't know much about the project but I can tell you what I read from the chart.

This was a pump and dump project like many other similar worthless shitcoins. It's not an oscilator but a degenerator. It doesn't follow the general trend in crypto but has its fake pumps and then dumps back to the mean.

If you bought during the pump you can still wait for another one but in general you'd do better with any of the oscilators like ETH or ADA than this crap.
1916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin so unstable? on: August 12, 2020, 10:36:37 PM
It's unstable because of many reasons.

Only small amount of all bitcoins in existence is traded and prices depend on the average from a few biggest exchanges.

Bitcoin is still following trends in global economy. If stocks fall cryptocurrencies will follow like they did during the pandemics.
1917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All hope is lost?? on: August 11, 2020, 11:07:57 PM
I hope you could put your loss behind you and turn it to an experience that you won't forget and help you to be more careful when investing. That's all the things you can do since there is no time machine to help to fix your mistake.

And I hope you guys will know how to evaluate your risk and avoid turning it all into nothing.

Most of you seem to forget that buying ETH you are already investing in a volatile coin.
By investing your ETH into a new coin you're doubling the risk without doubling the reward. Don't do it! Leave the shitcoins and their ICOs and invest only in projects that are already on the market.
1918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase: Increasing ETC deposit confirmation time to ~ 2 weeks on: August 11, 2020, 10:40:29 PM
So if you are going to deposit, you might as well wait for the right time, unless you really can wait for 2 weeks confirmation.

I have a better idea. Don't deposit to coinbase!

There are still exchanges that don't make you wait 2 weeks. This is really ridiculous. They could require more confirmations than usually like increase the number 3 times. 2 weeks is something only coinbase could think of.

It's on ETC side which has a problem. Because of the recent network attacks. A lot of exchanges are prolonging withdrawal/depositing in order to prevent any problems. Well if you want to deposit in a garbage exchange and have problems later, sure.

You can have more context here and here if you want to read it.

So you must think coinbase is not a garbage exchange?
You don't need a 2 week delay to know if there was a 51% attack or not. They are overdoing it.

I'm not saying ETC isn't a shitcoin, but Armstrong isn't a saint either.
You can find a lot of interesting reads in the web https://en.ethereumworldnews.com/coinbase-hiles-fee-233-pro-site-outrage-traders/
1919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dead by 2106 on: August 11, 2020, 10:32:19 PM
Isn't that like 86 whole creeping years from now?

Why worry now about a bug that is projected to come up more than four decades from now which may never even be a bug in the true sense. Also, the stretch in years is far apart that makes me wonder if anyone knew there was going to be something like Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies 80 years or so ago. My point is this — let's just take a chill pill and enjoy the moment of what Bitcoin is now.

Pretty much why I don't care about topics like this one.

There are so many things that can go wrong in just 10 years that if you made a list of them and read it every morning you'd either go insane or stayed in bed all day doing nothing which would pretty much be like being insane Wink
1920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fear & Greed Index and Bitcoin Price Chart of last week on: August 11, 2020, 10:24:17 PM
how exactly does such thing get determined? is the data even reliable?
I also think the same, do the Fear & Greed Index really determine the Bitcoin price? I am not really sure about it, I mean It may be just a coincidence. Then, in the future, we cannot determine the Bitcoin price chart with the Fear & Greed Index again. On the other hand, we also don't see enough explanation about the source from OP whether it can be trusted or not. For me, OP should explain it first to make sure that people can trust what OP stated above.

It doesn't. It just allows you to see extreme lows and extreme highs that could be good points for buying or selling.

I watched it in this last bear market for a few months and as we were at the bottom it was showing extreme fear but the next day it still was extreme fear and next week the price was even lower and we still had extreme fear so it only gives you a general idea about what's going on. We can be in extreme fear or extreme greed for many days.
