Beware. I would wait until eggcellent responds to waiting buyers before purchasing anything from him. He sold the same item to 2 different buyers in another thread and is not responding to another buyer that purchased something for 85btc. If this is a misunderstanding, I will erase or edit this post.

Damn Sad Only got 1 block mining for 3+ days with 750 Mh/s

Oh well.

I am mining at about the same rate and got 2 blocks in the first hour then nothing in the past 2 and a half days. Oh well, I guess it could have gone the other way. Still, at the current btc/nmc trade rate that's 2.5 BTC or 5 days of mining BTC.
1936  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Are my GPU Fans going to die soon? on: July 23, 2011, 06:09:14 AM
So I've been running 2 6970s 24/7 at 100 percent fan speed for the past month, should I be expecting to them to die quickly? Anyone have their fans die out yet? I'm hoping that if the fans do die while I'm at work the bios will shut the cards down so I don't come home to a couple of melted GPUs. These are the stock reference 6970 fans.
1937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins on: July 23, 2011, 05:42:14 AM
Is solo mining NMC more profitable than mining in a pool with 840 Mhash/sec?

Some things to consider:

  • stale shares, pool vs solo
  • pool connectivity issues
  • pool fees

Luck plays a big factor and variance can be a ruthless beast.

I found 5 blocks in 18 hours
then 0 the next 24 hours with the same hash rate!
Same thing here, I'm mining at ~ 780 mh/s and I found 2 blocks in the first hour I started (about 46 hours ago)  I haven't found another one since.  Hopefully my luck will change overnight.  I'd say go for it though. With 24 hours left your chances of finding 2 blocks are the same as finding none. Worst that could happen is you lose a day of mining...
1938  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo mining... how to do? on: July 23, 2011, 05:29:57 AM
In a perfect world, solo mining vs 0% fee pooled mining should be no different. However, we are not in a perfect world... Since I started mining a month ago I have woken up on 4 different occasions where my miners were idle all night due to a network outage or ddos attack on one of the pools. Solo mining is much more desirable in the sense that you control the server and you can pretty much guarantee 100% uptime, unless you forget to pay your power bill...

With that said, I only have 800mh/s and I'm not going to risk waiting a couple months for a block so I mine in a pool. (I am solo mining namecoins at the moment) If you are are pushing over 10 gh/s though, you may want to try going solo. If you go after a pool, come up with a good method of redirecting all your cards to a different pool in the event of an outage.
1939  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~275 GH/s] BitClockers.com - Monthly Contests/No Invalids/InstaPay/Live Support on: July 15, 2011, 04:30:39 AM
Wow, awesome day for the bitClockers pool!!! 6 blocks in one day with about 265gh/s average. I am mining at around 750 mh/s and this is the first time I've ever made 1BTC in a day. Looks like bitclockers took all the other pools' luck today. Here's to hoping the luck continues.

Jine:  Isn't it funny how everybody starts questioning the functionality of the pool during bad luck, but never bother to ask if the pool is "really solving all these blocks" when having great luck?  Smiley
I'll bite, is bitclockers really solving all these blocks today?? Smiley

If anyone is looking for a new pool I highly suggest bitclockers, they really put some thought into the interface and provide some great personal and group graphs/charts and statistics. Plus they give away a free graphics card each month!
