1963  Economy / Goods / Re: Windows 7 Professional 32bit OEM DVDs - UNOPENED 10 btc OBO on: July 25, 2012, 11:55:43 PM
In response these are all sealed OEM licenses from a system builders pack. I will provide a link to the product so that you can see what it is. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116989. This is not a disc from an existing pc. Also mentioned was the use of the key on a 64bit install. This is completely possible but I unfortunately do not have any of the 64bit discs laying around. Let me know

Where they purchased from newegg?  I bought one of these off of ebay and they were 'super counterfeits'.   They looked to the untrained eye like real Microsoft including holograms (though not identical).  Microsoft allows them to activate then de-activates them months later as the keys are stolen VLA keys.
1964  Economy / Goods / Re: New bitcoin keychain, new large magnet, bitcoin logo square stickers on: July 25, 2012, 11:51:15 PM
How big is the 1st and 3rd one?

The first one (the big magnet) is 11"x4" Magnet is2x8" (changed products), bitcoin sticker is 3" square.

1965  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: BUY BITCOINS FOR CASH on: July 25, 2012, 01:50:21 AM
I am selling Bitcoins for cash in the mail priced at the MTGOX high. The rate is to be set upon the date of receipt of the cash (the moment I return from the post office). I will be receiving all shipments within the United States. Services such as priority mail or tracking are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. I make no assurances that I will reimburse you for lost or stolen mail, I can only assure you that once it reaches me you will be paid in full, as my past trading history indicates.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU PURCHASE SOME KIND OF TRACKING! While problems are rare they do happen. Also don't forget to PM me with your payment address, and include a note with the cash so I know who to direct payment to. Please PM me for current inventory and to set up a trade.

STATUS: ACTIVE

NOTE: To protect the privacy of all involved PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING HERE. PM Me any questions or comments.
I like my privacy as well, and if I lose it this service disappears as well.

Date of RECEIPT? That seems like some bullshit to me. It could go either way. Why not lock in a price?
Because people will say they sent it, and gain a free option.  If the price goes up, they send the money locked in at the lower price.  If the price drops, they do not send as they have a negative incentive.

To lock in a price maybe they could send a bitcoin deposit but since they are looking to BUY bitcoin that is really not a good solution.
1966  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Choose: Walk The Plank or Keelhaul on: July 25, 2012, 01:16:50 AM
With more then a year left to go in the bet, I think Vandroiy placed a REALLY GOOD BET so long as the escrow is safe.  There is no point in talking concession now!
1967  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BitMix Bitcoin Laundry scam? on: July 24, 2012, 11:57:40 AM
There are so many services that work as mixers, that are not designed specifically to be mixers.

go to:

https://exchange.bitparking.com/main

Make two accounts.  Buy namecoin with one, send namecoin from one to the other through an external namecoin wallet.  Do it with a delay (a few days) for best mixing.  Then buy new BTC with the second account via the namecoin and send it as needed.  If you trust them you can keep a small balance there as well.  You pay less then a  2% fee overall.

Be sure to use reasonable mixing techniques, such as not using one large amount at once, and waiting time between transactions.
1968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is HUGE: WIKISPEED, first car-maker in the world to accept Bitcoin on: July 24, 2012, 11:51:33 AM

Um, maybe the ~1,400 lb. weight helps just a smidge.
The Insight weighs ~1800 pounds. The difference is big for a car, but not 50+ MPG different. Like sedan to SUV different...
It would weigh a lot less without the huge battery pack as well...

Hrm.

The entire Insight (2000) battery pack with controllers and fan weighs less then 80lbs.  People have rebuilt the packs with newer lighter batteries as well.
1969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is HUGE: WIKISPEED, first car-maker in the world to accept Bitcoin on: July 24, 2012, 02:38:17 AM
Is anyone familiar with the early model Honda Insight? The most fuel-efficient, mass-produced consumer vehicle in history? (Yet?)

Anyone remember the technology that went into making the most fuel efficient consumer car in history?

1.0 liter 3 cylinder engine?
Lean-burn with stoichiometric gas/air ratio of 1/25.8?
Hugely plastic chassis and seats 2 comfortably plus some groceries?
It's a hybrid?
Manual transmission or a CVT?
Looked HORRIBLE as far as appearances went?

So, where the hell is all this stuff on this supposed 100mpg vehicle?
And why aren't they selling it for $150,000+?

I think anyone can tell you the answer to that...

The Insight no AC manual tranny is the MPG king but it is real close now.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calculatorSelectEngine.jsp?year=2000&make=Honda&model=Insight

The Insight is 53 combined rating under the new ratings, the Prius C is 51.  The Insight with AC/auto is about 50 mpg under the new ratings.

The high mpg rating (70mpg highway) on the original Insight was done on an easier test.

The Insight chassis was actually just plastic covered in some spots, it was mostly aluminum and often said to be 'hand assembled' at a loss.

If they make it run on open-mesh hardware like the open-mesh MR3201 I have at least 20 of those laying around.  I would love to put them into use with good software.
1971  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is HUGE: WIKISPEED, first car-maker in the world to accept Bitcoin on: July 24, 2012, 12:37:42 AM
I have always liked the idea of a modular car.   If a serious market develops, you will have alternative engine and body kits all made mostly interchangeable.

1972  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: TheBitMint - Buy Bitcoins With PayPal on: July 24, 2012, 12:31:54 AM
get a loan and payback the highest you owe first and then down the line. You're getting the money back in 180 days that's guaranteed. So, just get a loan and start paying people back now.

Highest first is not necessarily the best way to do it.  Then you wait longest to make the first payout and have the most number of people who have nothing.  I (think) am in the middle so lowest first or highest first does not make much difference to me.  I think the best way is to pay out in rounds as you get the money, a percentage.   Sure it is more work, but everyone then knows you are serious.

It may be more trouble for the payouts, but we have all been put through trouble as well.
1973  Economy / Securities / Re: How much BTC have you lost out on because you listened to Vandroiy? on: July 24, 2012, 12:28:53 AM
How much this week?   Tongue

Dunno yet, but I'll post up tomorrow morning.  Who knows, maybe one of these weeks I'll be posting "THANK YOU VANDROIY for saving my ass!"  Like I said, I planned on getting out at the end of July anyway, so we'll see how it turns out next Tuesday morning.

I have a feeling after a number of people meet him next weekend in Vegas, a lot of confidence will be put back into BCST.  But let's see.

It will be very interesting.  That to me is the end game if it is a scam, and if it is not, basically we should know by people meeting him and the continued payouts.

By the way, if he changed (dropped) interest rates and sent back many deposits I would not consider that a scam.

1975  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will the gov't confiscate IRAs? on: July 23, 2012, 09:29:11 PM
And the government can't do this by just causing inflation?
1976  Other / Off-topic / Re: Possible Bitcoin connection to Colorado shooting? on: July 23, 2012, 09:28:07 PM
1. Obviously fake witnesses re-used over and over again (see above)
I don't consider any of them obviously fake.
Media is lazy and will re-use things often vs paying someone to film something new.

2. Constantly changing storyline (at one point it was 14 dead, another it was 12 - do cops not know how to count to 14??)
Media is not all competent and the situation is rapidly changing.

3. Only one cell phone video. You're "just plane stupid" if you think that a shooting could happen at a movie theater and only ONE cellphone video would surface a day after - there would be DOZENS - at least.

It is not easy to get a cell phone to record while you are running for your life.  Recording may get you shot.

4. Shooter is supposedly unemployed loner, but manages to acquire ~$20K worth of shit for killing spree.
With rich parents.  I doubt it was 20k worth of stuff.

5. Shooter is determined to "just kill anyone", but then just surrenders to police?!?!

Because he did what he wanted to already.  Not all killers are suicidal.

6. No clear timeline has been put forth by ANY news outlet about what happened between the time he came through the emergency door and started shooting, and the 10 minutes later MIN. that the cops actually showed up.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=colorado+theater+timeline

7. Oh yeah - no security cam footage AT ALL?!?!?

I have not seen too many cams in theaters.  It is a theater not a store, bank or

8. The re-use of the same cell phone video over and over by different networks (aren't they supposed to be competitors?)

Not enough footage to go around.  Its cheaper and easier to reuse.

9. The use of the same footage and pictures in general used across all networks

Same as above.

10, The lack of any other victim photos or footage. (All we see is the same black guy in a B&W striped shirt(pretty masonic, huh?) with fake blood on him..from the same overused cell phone footage.

Nobody was taking pictures while they were running for their lives.  Is that hard to understand.

10. Mr Sullivan's kid supposedly died, and he showed up with only a black and white print out of his face to show the cops??

Maybe he was in a hurry and that is what he saw first.
11. Girl is seen smiling in back of one of staged "grief" photos

Someone smiles so it indicates a government plot?

12. Fake victim "Jennifer Ghawi" is supposedly an aspiring sports journalist, but has only a blog with all of TWO entries in it to show as any proof of her previous existence. Oh and a twitter where she conveniently tweeted she was going to see the movie.

People sometimes embellish the lives of the dead.  This is not unusual.  Maybe there is more that you or the media didn't find.  A tweet while having almost no bearing, works more against your augment then for it.

...need more?

Not of the quality that you have provided so far.

False flag meets occam's razor....

I don't disagree that the government/media/corporate interests use events like this to for their own causes.....

But what is easier, setting up a complex killing with hundreds of witnesses involved (from the actual location to the hospitals, morgues and all) , making hundreds of people keep a secret in the day where one photo, one quote even one tweet can disprove it..........

Or just wait for it to REALLY HAPPEN then take advantage of it.

Which is easier?

1977  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Class action Litigation vs. Bitcoinica Consultancy LTD & Intersango LTD on: July 21, 2012, 02:39:38 AM
Theory....

If Bitcoinica was taken over by a bankruptcy court/judge they would liquidate the assets (BTC and anything else) then distribute the proceeds to people who were owed currency only as they would not recognize BTC debt.  Not that I think it will ever get that far.

One way or another it is going to get that far.  The Limited Partnership is not going to continue which means it will be terminated.  Whether it's the general partner, the limited partner or the creditors who initiate this process (the GP and LP can agree to place the partnership in voluntary liquidation without petitioning the court), the LP will be wound up in insolvency.

It's not possible to know how a liquidator would regard Bitcoin debt, but one shouldn't assume they will regard it as having no value.  They may treat it as a commodity, they may simply assess it in terms of its $ value, they may look to how Bitcoinica LP was regarding that debt in their refund process (personally, I think this is the approach they would take as a liquidator cannot deal with disputed debt).

Quote
There is no way that they could possible convert a half a million dollars (or whatever large amount it is) worth of BTC to fiat in a short time frame without actually watching the rate fall while doing it.

That's true but remember that the original claims process valued BTC at around $5 each.  I'm not sure that even a large amount of Bitcoins coming on the market would move the price from its current level back down to $5 (although obviously buyers would be looking for a bargain).

Then again, the courts don't necessarily have/need to convert the coins. Just treat them as a commodity. Let's pretend for a moment some exchange traded and stored bushels of corn. Thousands of clients had ten's of thousands of bushels of corn on account. But a fire destroyed the main office with all the records. Luckily, one of the owners remembers most of the transactions... Moving forward. The corn exchange goes into receivership (or whatever term is applicable) and courts aare now involved to return the corn to their rightful owners. All because 1/3 of the corn is now missing, doesn't mean the courts have to convert the corn to fiat so that everybody involved gets the fair return, in this case 2/3. Further imagine, that nobody in the courts knows a damn thing about corn, but they do know that there's a corn expect that can act as the liaison between all concerns.

~Bruno~

While your suggestion is reasonable, I still think that is not what would happen.

The court would sell the BTC as expected but when it came to tally the debt, they would not recognize BTC debt.  I am not saying this is right, but this is what they would do.   Selling assets (even unusual ones) is not unusual for a court.  Recognizing the owed BTC would be a first though and I do not think that would happen.  The assets would be divided up by people who could prove they transferred USD to bitcoinica either through MTGOX or a bank wire.
