1542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paranoia I have not enaugh bitcoins collected yet. on: January 16, 2013, 10:18:58 PM
I calculate again and again and still I have not enaugh bitcoins, without my work they won't make me rich enough even with price 1000$/BTC.

Do you have same feeling?

Yes.

#-10

The  10,000 silicone chips just arrived from the fab!  What?  Silicon?  Are you kidding me?  What the F*ck are we going to do with 10,000 silicone chips?
1544  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: question for merchants that accept bitcoin on: January 16, 2013, 02:26:34 AM
The logic goes both ways.  As price rises they need less BTC to buy things priced in USD.  Others buy items when BTC drops as they go into a panic when they think they will have less value in the future.
1545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom Mansion: Press conference 2013-01-17 GMT on: January 16, 2013, 02:21:06 AM

Seems to me Kim just doesn't get it.
If he did comprehend Bitcoin - he'd have been too excited about the potential to not drop hints.

Maybe he is quite smart and still buying.
1546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom Mansion: Press conference 2013-01-17 GMT on: January 16, 2013, 02:19:40 AM
Kim-Koin is a much more likely scenario. If you know any tiny bit of this guy's history you will know what I am saying.

Because the costs of Bitcoin are so low, setting up Kim-Koin would cost him more with little benefit.  There are already places to get Bitcoin all over the world.  Is he going to set up a Kim-Koin acceptance network in the USA?  Doubtful.

He could try to stay within the standard Visa/Mastercard network as I have said before.  He does not need to find a US partner, he can use an overseas one.  They may be told by Visa/Mastercard later to turn him off, but that would take time.

Actually the best choice for HIM would be to accept as many things as possible including Bitcoin.
1547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom Mansion: Press conference 2013-01-17 GMT on: January 15, 2013, 11:39:07 PM
I've planned this very moment from 2 months ago, I'm quite sure that the new Mega will support Bitcoin and that will launch Bitcoin into the hands of hundreds of millions of users a day.
It will be an epic moment.

If i'm right.

There has been absolutely no indication that you are right.

Yes, apart from my previsions. I would do that if i was in him.

Time will tell, we are only days apart.

I see Bitcoin as the best choice but Mr. Dotcom has other options.  He can continue to use standard credit cards as this is a new company and wait until he is shut down (this risk is lowered by his not having encryption keys to the customer data). He can set up his own payment network or currency.  Both of those choices have more problems then simply using Bitcoin.
1548  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bryan Micon's Butterfly Labs Scammer Investigation including Josh Zerlan on: January 15, 2013, 09:00:04 PM
BFL as of Dec was already in violation of a FTC rule, They did not send out the required options notices and everyone who did not get one should call the FTC and complain plain and simple. The FTC will fine them for everyone one of these Notices they did not comply with.

The website in the FAQ still had delivery date listed as NOV, they have since changed that since I posted a post Similar in another thread. That means as of DEC 2012 If you did not get a notice from BFL they broke the FTC rules.

Sample Fine
http://news.cnet.com/FTC-fines-e-tailers-1.5-million-for-shipping-delays/2100-1017_3-243684.html

You may be right, you may be wrong.....

But I fail to see why an order holder would complain to the FTC and risk the company they have money with being fined.  It is probably not in their interest to file a complaint at this time.
1549  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Help on: January 15, 2013, 02:57:58 PM
I have 2 orders of total 3x 72GH/s units (1/3 which is BTC payed), which I have all requested refunds on. On the old BTCFPGA site it says my CC order is refunded but I do not have received any money in my bank account, and it's been days. And while no status change on the BTC order I also haven't received any btc back even tho Dave said on the forum that all BTC refunds were processed.

Anyone else in the same situation?

Me. Paid with CC in August, CC company says they can only do a charge back within 60 days after I get my bill - so no chance any more.
Order status on btcfpga.com says "refunded" - but nothing hit my account so far. Asked for the refund on 10th.

Charge backs can go for six months.  Unfortunately for you and according to the item below you had 120 days for merchandise not received which is more then the 60 they told you:

Assume that buying stuff with your BTC was like selling your BTC for USD.
I can not assume something that is incorrect. I didn't sell my BTC for USD. BFL did. I don't have any contract with BitPay. BFL have. This is why only BFL can sell BTC to BitPay!

I don't know how you are reasonning, but for me, it was clear that it was refundable in USD.
Read, read, read... I thought you have read all my reasoning so far and this is why you are annoyed?! For me, it was clear that I'm paying in BTC and it was refundable in the currency and amount that was originally paid.

That is absurd and the only reason why you put that fabrication together is to try to game BFL.  By your logic anyone with a BFL order paid in BTC can ask for a refund of the BTC and then instantly replace (if desired) the order at a lower BTC cost pocketing the BTC.  Everyone gets a free OPTION call!!
1551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be at CES2013 (Official Thread) on: January 13, 2013, 03:24:36 AM
Btw, Bitpay accepts 0-confirmation transactions

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=136017.0

Now all scam them with fake paymetns! Smiley

Bitpay gives the merchant the option to accept them as far as I know.  You can set to three different levels of security in case you are worried.  While I have not received a notice, if you do take a 0 conf you will get a notice if a double spend was done.  If you are shipping a physical product any setting should be safe as you will know shortly after that there was a problem.  If you are delivering an electronic product 0 conf is probably not a good idea.  It is your choice.

The carrying capacity of the earth is not static. Technological advancements continually expand it. We aren't living in a glass bottle, but a rubber balloon.

True.  Without nuclear energy we have already passed the carrying capacity of the earth.  If we keep using polluting fresh water (with mercury) and keep polluting the air at this rate we will start to die off from disease at a faster rate.   With nuclear we can have a much higher population without damaging the earth to the point where it damages us back.
1554  Economy / Goods / Re: New Bitcoin embriodered hats! About 1.35 BTC shipped USA on: January 12, 2013, 04:54:41 AM
I'm sorry but this hat is ugly. Someone might need to go back to the drawing board on this one. I want a Bitcoin hat sooooo bad, but there is no way I'm gonna be caught wearing something so hideous just because it has the word "bitcoin" on it. Please make a cool one so I can buy one or maybe even more of them.

Zephyr makes awesome hats that I normally buy from Lids in a nearby mall. I don't like the flat-billed hats like some people do. Here is an example of some designs that would look awesome with "bitcoin" and the "B" logo on it.
http://www.lids.com/NCAA/UCLA-Bruins/20093139

Maybe we can do some different designs, but you are comparing against a hat that is nearly 50% more expensive and has nothing to do with bitcoin.  I am $18.99 shipped (payable in BTC), that one is $29.66 shipped.

If the demand is there for a $30 hat, much more is possible.
1555  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Too late for GPU mining? (Budget Rig Proposal) on: January 11, 2013, 03:02:19 PM
Buy the same amount of BTC that this machine would cost.  In one year I think you will have more value.
1556  Economy / Goods / Re: BitCoin Bumper Stickers $1.49 priced in BTC low 99 cent shipping per US order on: January 08, 2013, 03:45:02 AM
Id like to see the bumper sticker with one of these logos.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fsuo6128jk1we3e/nNqpkNDTz3

I may do another run with a different design but there are now a few competing bitcoin logos.  I do like this new one but I am not sure if having so many different ones helps.
1557  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: If I have 3 ATI 6900 cards at $0.11 KW/h is it worth mining with them? on: January 07, 2013, 09:14:39 PM
You made a mistake. What 6900 series? 6950, 6970, 6990?

For example at $0.11/kWh, with a stock 6990 (1.9 Mhash/Joule), it costs $8.20 to mine 1 BTC worth $13.50. So it is profitable. Not much, but profitable.

With the depreciation in the cards it is not profitable.  Unless you want to own three 6990 then it would be better to sell them now while they are worth more money.   If one of the cards dies while mining all profit is lost and you are at a loss.

Many 7xxx series cards would be profitable to mine with if you already owned them and you were not facing new depreciation.  The 6990 stands out as a power hog, so things are not in its favor.  A 5970 is also more efficient tuned properly.
1558  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking into getting FPGA's on: January 07, 2013, 12:08:48 AM
I am looking to get an FPGA.
I don't have a lot of $ to spend so a lower priced one would be prefered.
Any suggestions?

GPU's are your lower priced alternative.  Most FPGA's are going for top dollar due to the fact that they are currently the best thing on the market and most of the ASIC companies are offering full price trade ins on old units.  The BFL single is going for between $500-$650 right now.  A 5970 video card (GPU) can be had for under $200.
1559  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Senate approves $60.4 billion Sandy reconstruction bill on: January 06, 2013, 11:01:14 PM

Repairing what is broken is not the same as taxing to prosperity.  It is actually in the governments interest to rebuild faster so more economic activity and taxes happen.  Most of the money is composed of loans that will be paid back.
1560  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Senate approves $60.4 billion Sandy reconstruction bill on: January 06, 2013, 10:58:35 PM
Greed is the fall, you would want help.

If you lost your job, would you point a gun at me to make me pay for your unemployment?

Most unemployment benefits are delivered as insurance and are funded from paychecks themselves.   The extended unemployment benefits are not and those are the ones that I have a problem with, not the regular 26 week ones.
