Without knowing anything, I'm certain NSA has had the equivalent of Avalon/BFL ASICS for years. They probably have a plan laid out for 51% attack, if such a thing were needed. But, it hasn't been necessary.
CIA and others probably would like to use Bitcoin for anonymous payment, so they don't need to have all those shell companies. But the total value of all Bitcoins isn't worth enough, yet. Probably they are buying/mining some right now for the future.
Thinking from other perspectives, it's almost certain that Chinese government will take over Avalon technology. Bitcoin is too small now, but when it becomes big enough to matter, they will seize control of it and mass produce their own. So, I hope BFL and other companies succeed so that the "power" doesn't belong to one country.
Doubtful. They have a huge signal processing, pattern matching and storage network. A network so big that it is causing power delivery issues. Why would they try to crack something that is uncrackable. The NSA is one of the smarter three letter agencies out there and probably LOVES bitcoin because of the open block chain. If bitcoin is on the NSA rader, the NSA could know more about the blockchain contents then other single entity or person. |

Impressive. You know what I just found out? If you buy 10 lottery tickets, you're 10x more likely to win the prize!!   I found that out by going to a pro-raw milk website. They feel the risk is negligible but still higher then regular milk. I am pro-raw milk. Basically it is about freedom, the right to control ones own food and allowing the small farmer to profit from his work. |

Nothing about bitcoin changes this. Almost all laws banning things ban the distribution AND sale so that even if you gave it away for free it would not be any different.
yes, the laws speak specifically to the sale of raw milk. I am not sure about giving away for free, and consumption is legal (you can drink the milk from your own animals). "sale or distribution" Yes drinking from your own cow is ok. Getting it free from someone else is distribution. |

Seriously? My schoolmates and I grew up on raw milk. I've never heard of anyone getting sick. We used to have [raw] milk chugging contests in the cafeteria. I drank at least 3 glass-fulls a day in my school years, all from the local dairy. Raw milk is obviously more dangerous then pasteurized. You are 10x more likely to get sick from raw milk then from pasteurized. The nutritional value is close but raw milk is better. Raw milk advocates say it tastes better. I would love to try some myself. While raw milk is more dangerous, so is riding a bike or skydiving. None of these things are illegal. Raw milk should be legal and just labeled properly. |

So I got an idea the other day which I'm not 100% sure on if it would work or not, so I thought I would pitch it here and see what people think.
You've heard of penny bid sites correct? Are they any bitcoin related sites that are similar? What I would like to create is a web site where you come to place bids of various products. Each bid will cost you a certain amount of BTC (the number can be changed, and isn't important). If you bid on, and win the product/service then you need to pony up the amount of BTC that you agreed to as well.
So that is it in a nut shell. Just wanted to toss the idea out there and see what you guys think.

Now, because no cash is being exchanged and because bitcoins are anonymous, it might be possible to get around the laws here. I know that in some states, gifting milk is not illegal and the whole cow "shares" thing is legal in some areas, too (you can drink the raw milk of your own cow).
What do you guys think? Is there a possible solution here?

As to the other claims, if something was sent via USPS and insured, it came with tracking. If the USPS confirms receipt of the item (i.e. it is in process, went out for distribution,etc), then it's between the buyer and the USPS. I'm only here clarifying these things because i sell online as well, and didn't want the incorrect information here to become accepted fact to someone who doesn't know better.
That's what I would have thought. I asked them for a tracking number and they told me that there wasn't one. I suspect that they don't send it via insured post, but send it via regular post and insure it some other way? Why else would an insurance company be involved? I'd also be curious to know - in both cases of non-receipt, was the shipping address on both overseas (i.e. out of the continental US)?
Outside of continental US here, Australia. Where, incidentally, consumer protection laws make what happened here blatantly illegal. Check the below two links. Both are orders i had from customers in Australia over the last few months. Both confirmed received well over a month ago, both never had their tracking status updated after they left the United States. Every problem i've ever had with international shipping occurs after it leaves the USPS's hands. Other country's postal systems are just poorly run. However, i'd be willing to bet if you spent more time than just checking the tracking number online, and dug a little deeper (called your country's postal system), you would find your answer. There needs to be a worldwide standard for postal tracking and scanning. |

The problem is that the both NYT and Top Gear basically lied when pointing out the problems, both making the problems happen when they would not have otherwise. Top Gear rightfully lost in court because they had a script for the car to fail, and did things to make that happen. The NYT article was pretty close as well. Tesla has actually made a electric cars that are usable. They do not do everything a gas car can do, but they have 2x the range of most competing electric cars. Of course Elon Musk the owner of Tesla is also the owner of SpaceX and has done equally (if not more) exciting things in the space industry. |

I'd buy a T-shirt or two for a decent price, like no more than $5.
At $5 I would buy them too. For all but large volume sellers that is a tough price as it is below most people's cost. There are sellers that do non-bitcoin shirts at $6 but they make profit in shipping. |

yeah just a warning I never got my 2 bars of silver from coinabul some 6 months ago, or a refund on my 8btc paid... why ?? because the guy never paid customs and apparently the bars were returned to sender, but coinabul never repaid me the BTC or declared they recieved the bars back... a trusted friend of mine then told me to watch out for coinabul as the guy running it is a sly piece of work and skimps on anything and he was not surprised by my situation...
btw it took like 2 months for the guy to even send the bars in the first place.... if he ever did...
I have not heard if a situation where the sender pays customs. |

Yes those items can be fixed but since they really do not effect function you save a few bucks by not fixing them. |
