What if you tried selling something like Paper bitcoin wallet with 10BTC in it, and then physically deliver only to the verified address?
Most of these scams seems to be based on stolen accounts, they may have access the the users ebay, paypal and even email accounts but not the physical address.
Plus you can use a delivery confirmation to defend against chargebacks.
Really paypal will not protect you at all for selling digital goods(ie world of warcraft gold), but they will protect you for selling pre-paid game cards(ie a physical card that entitles you to world of warcraft gold).
This would protect you against stolen accounts. It would not protect you against dishonest buyers. I am not sure the percentage, but dishonest buyers are at least 30% of the chargebacks. It also would not protect you against a paypal shutdown, which happens when they get 'suspicious' and they close the account. They often hold funds for 180 days giving anyone the opportunity to charge/dispute back during that time. The rule that I used for paypal sales was simple, I would sell to people who I had met in person before. None of them scammed me.

Remember connection via satellite But. isn't that even easier to blackout than any other route??? We don't put sats up the, the Governors do, and we couldn't keep 'em there cos we aren't military. I think he's talking about the case for example if Iran's government black out the Internet for the people of Iran, then satellite would definitely be an option. Iranian government can't take down other country's satellites. Satellite companies can provide people in Iran satellite internet (though I guess you have to smuggle equipment into Iran first). Actually they can take out satellites by jamming. This jamming can be local on the downlink side (possible to get around) or be on the uplink side (much harder to get around). http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/world/iran-accused-of-jamming-satellites-300145.htmlIf you have good techs with equipment you can do microwave links in some areas to bridge.

This looks more like monopoly money than federal reserve notes to me. Agreed on the colored notes, but definitely not on the coins. The coins look like U.S. government money as much as your coins do, Casascius. Let's hope you don't become the next von NotHaus. Are you ready to spend some time in the big house? Actually they don't. Casascius coins have no resemblance to the style of US coins other then the fact that they are around and made of metal. The Liberty Dollar coins use both the statue of liberty and the word "LIBERTY" at the top of the coin in a near identical fashion to genuine US coins. I am not saying they should be illegal, but the case is quite clear under current US law. Also Casascius coins are NOT pegged to the dollar.

I personally felt the halving of the reward was one of bitcoins weaker (but elegant) parts. I also felt that a less abrupt change would have been better but I did not want to change to it once things were rolling. One of the things that makes bitcoin great is the certainty of it. The reward change was one of those certainties. Irreversibility is another. We do not want to change things that.
The market took care of the reward drop on its own, probably by people knowing about the reward change, buying in advance and now selling. Long term I would imagine the price to slowly rise as that supply of coins runs down.

While I like the idea of alternative currencies, the Liberty Dollar was not much different then just printing your own US dollars. They were pegged to the US dollar yet not backed up on a dollar for dollar basis. They were competing much more directly with the Dollar then bitcoin is.

Could Ebay, strategically, invest massively buying BTC prior announcing adoption of it and earn millions with it so that it would justify letting go of paypal? How much is Paypal worth and how could Ebay come up with such a speculative move?
No, ebay could not as they own paypal and would hurt themselves as they loose paypal profits as BTC replaced p Other companies could do this very strategy though. Imagine if Newegg or Amazon bought $1m bitcoins on the QT then made the announcement. Amazon could even offer to pay affiliates with bitcoin. The price would shoot up and the company would make money as well as having a new payment method.

That is what is probably going to happen. They charge 10-15%, I just wanted to see if anyone in the community needed them. The 'profit' would have stayed in the community.

I turned off 6GH/s of miners the day of the reward drop. It won't be profitable to mine until a shitload of people stop mining or the ASICs come out and drop in price, in other words, a very long time from now.
I am turning off my least efficient rigs. I have 3 single card machines to shut down as they are no longer profitable. Half of mine would be unprofitable if the waste heat was not useful. The other half are BFL Singles and they will stay on until they are replaced by ASIC upgrades.

This place sure is suspicious. I suppose suspicion is healthy but really if you don't think something is legit you can just move on, if you are really worried then post your concerns once. However this thread has basically been trolled by the same people posting over and over who have no actual interest in participating in the transaction.
This might be legit, it might not be. But accusations without evidence is about as tacky as scamming. A word of caution may be warranted but pages and pages of accusations are out of line. If you had a good point then a single post should suffice to make it, if people are not convinced the repeating yourself over and over will not help.
I was sold fake watches that are worth almost nothing here. Suspicion is warranted. Rolexes are often counterfeited and some of the copies are very accurate. Even with this watch and the information so far, the only real way to know if it is real is to have a professional look at it. They usually need to open it and look at the movement. Personally I do think that this watch is real but I am not an expert. The going rate on ebay for this watch in good condition fully working is about $1500 though if you go for auctions and get lucky $1200 is possible.

When information about a market even is generally known, it often is 'priced in'. Almost everyone knew about the halving and some bought more coins in advance of the change. This increased the price before the change, and those looking to profit off of the increase are now selling making up for the lower amount of new coins generated.
I expect the price to (very) slowly rise barring no large news event. I do have to say, the bitcoin market is more efficient then I thought it was. I expected a little change, like about 10% either way.

Um, no. Teh voters do not (directly) control law school admission processes. nice try at winning the "I'm a hero for sniffing a whiff of bigotry" prize though. Again, you are attacking someone for their race and not their actions. That is bigotry and it is also even worse when applied this way. Her having a uterus or being Hispanic has not made her a bad states attorney nor has it caused her to read the constitution horribly wrong. Other things have. Most of the people who crap on the constitution are probably more educated, white and male then her. I am giving her no pass for what she did. She sucks.

TO: statesattorney@cookcountyil.govDear Miss Alvarez, I was very pleased to read that you have lost your ill-conceived Supreme Court appeal seeking to destroy long established First Amendment protections for any citizens unfortunate enough to live under your oppressive jurisdiction. Perhaps you should have taken your Oath of Office seriously and re-examined your poor understanding of the spirit and letter of the US Constitution, instead of wasting tax money on a fruitless quest to lick the jackboots of our nascent police state. I honestly can't believe anyone with such terrible judgement and ignorance of the law could earn a legal degree, much less rise to an office of prominence! You, Anita Alvarez, are a superb example of how race and gender based affirmative action are doing a disservice to our country by allowing eminently unqualified individuals such as yourself to occupy positions where your manifest incompetence becomes not only a waste of time and money, but threatens our very freedoms and liberties. The McLean County State’s Attorney, Jason Chambers, made no such ridiculous mistake and thus will not suffer your humiliating embarrassment. Of course Mr. Chambers is a white male who was required to work for his job qualifications, unlike you, a Hispanic female affirmative action baby of dubious intelligence and demonstrated hostility toward freedom of speech. Good day Miss! -iCEBREAKER Too bad you screwed up a pretty good start with bigotry and failure to understand what affirmative action is. Anita may be unqualified but affirmative action did not get her there, the voters did. She was elected not elevated by a misguided law.

Greenpeace (at least in Poland) does nothing but blocks valuable investments(of course they "change their mind" if the investor makes donation) and makes anti-nuclear propaganda.
I consider myself an environmentalist and I do not like GreenPeace. They have managed to block/slow down and even work to close nuclear plants all over the world. In exchange we get more coal plants. Nice going GreenPleace.
