21  Economy / Reputation / Re: Users like Poker Player must be stopped! on: May 17, 2024, 09:53:03 PM
I dunno what to think about all this.  Some of it seems like nonsense, some of it looks scummy, some of it feels misleading... all wrapped up in a delusional fever dream.

You want folks to come to your game? Maybe concentrate on making your site enticing - threats and guilt trips wont help.  Vague promises about "unlimited possibilities" dont cut it either.  What exactly are these benefits here? Promoting gambling as a money-making tool is a big red flag in my book.  Is this a pyramid scheme type deal?  Without the full story and proof, your words mean zilch.  That pledge to just hand out money is probably about as real as my chance to win the lottery.  Get it?
22  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Imagine owning a Bitcoin note. on: May 17, 2024, 09:24:27 PM
One of the main reasons Bitcoin even exists is because it was designed and built to be a digital alternative to physical cash. It would not make sense to regress and go back to create a clunky, dying physical version from a digital source.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Open Source Hardware Wallet for XMR? on: May 17, 2024, 08:55:58 PM
Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

The Feather wallet (open source) is also compatible with Trezor hardware wallets, so you can use that combination if you dont like the Trezor Suite app.

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Can Utility like DeFi Transform a Memecoin's Status? on: May 17, 2024, 08:42:49 PM
~

You got the first part right. Hype from influencers can make a memecoin blow up fast, for sure.  Never heard of this SLERF thing though, haha.  Guess some memecoins try to stick around longer by acting like real crypto with DeFi features and stuff.  But you cant just throw some DeFi on a memecoin and expect it to moon and  the real use cases and long-term plans matter more if its gonna last.

By the way, why did you post this in "Announcements"?
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Found corrupted wallet.dat??? on: May 17, 2024, 08:15:11 PM
Take into account before replying, that I am not here to spread misinformation or any false leads, ~

And yet, you started your post with exactly that - spread of misinformation and false leads. "I've been doing some digging and found a wallet.dat file" Yeah right!

EDIT: also, if this wallet.dat file is a well known thing in this forum, do let me know so I don't have to make a fool of myself stating I found something everyone already knew about lol

Its a well-known type of scam. You are just a decade too late.  Wink

... are basically everyone on this forum very narrow-minded or do y'all just have some type of really really bad trust issues? It really does fascinate me ngl. Maybe it's cuz I'm still young, but wow... the level of distrust and quick to say something is a scam or misinformation is crazy and beyond words lol

Young? More like naive. Spend enough time in this game, and you will see every scam under the sun recycled a thousand times. Sounds like the younger generations are too busy reinventing the wheel to learn from past mistakes.  Try to spend at least ten minutes searching this forum or other sources and learn more about "fake wallet.dat scams". Or dont. How you want to waste your time is your business.

I've also stated that if you believe this thread was a waste of your time, don't waste more time to state it was a waste of your time. It's as simple as that. Please be more respectful when expressing such pessimism. If you are to have more knowledge than another, you don't belittle them for their limited knowledge. After all, everyone starts somewhere... And clearly nobody starts off knowing as much as the older people does. So be more understanding if someone doesn't already take into account what you already know... cuz we ain't mind-readers lol

Okay, sure. But now you know. Why keep going on?  Thats where a good old "c'mon, just stop it!" comes in handy.  Wink
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When investing in Bitcoin: what to consider? on: May 16, 2024, 09:39:22 PM
So what are your opinion towards the people that are investing in Bitcoin?

So what do I think about people investing in Bitcoin? Is that a trick question??  I mean, this is a Bitcointalk.org forum so most folks here are probably fans.  but sure, lets chat.

Bitcoin definitely has some issues that give people pause.  The price jumps all over the place.  There is some shady stuff happening on the dark web.  But Bitcoiners know what they signed up for.  Either they truly believe in the whole decentralized currency revolution thing.  Or they just wanna make a quick buck on the volatility.

My take? Hey, you do you.  If you wanna dive in go for it.  Just make sure you learn about it first, get the risks, and dont come crying if you lose that money.  Bitcoin has always been a gamble.

28  Other / Meta / Re: What is the usages of MEMBERS option ? on: May 16, 2024, 08:47:47 PM
~
when to use it and who can access or use this option ?[/b]

The "List of all members" feature bit the dust ages ago. Dont know the exact date myself, but I believe I read somewhere it was causing server issues with the massive number of members here.

Anyway, you can still use the "Members" option to search for members the old-fashioned way. Just head over to the "search for members" tab.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I returned my father's property to my father through Bitcoin investment. on: May 15, 2024, 09:13:52 PM
Im a bit skeptical of this Bitcoin story.  The timing seems awfully convenient - supposedly buying at precisely $30K and selling at exactly $70K? That sounds too perfect to be true.

While Bitcoin has certainly been life-changing for some folks, this particular tale smells kind of fishy to me.  It could just be an extremely lucky gamble that this person is trying to pass off as brilliant financial insight after the fact.

I wouldnt take stories like this as gospel if you are new to Bitcoin investing.  Theres probably some truth being stretched here, if not outright fabrication and  take claims of easy, perfect market timing with a huge grain of salt.
30  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If all your wages were paid in USDT, would you accept it? on: May 12, 2024, 08:57:19 PM
Just as mentioned that as the moment you do receive your USDT then you could simply convert it out and p2p right away on exchangers and change it to fiat
if you do have that kind of worrying about those depegging and other issues.

Thats true,  - cashing out to fiat right away does reduce the risk of losing value if the stablecoin drops its peg.  For smaller sums, it may be the safer option.  However, peer-to-peer transactions have risks too, like the possibility of fraud by the other party.  Theres no perfectly safe option so its about weighing risks against benefits in your specific situation.  Perhaps use caution with large amounts, but accept some risk for convenience with smaller
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Bitcoin and possible future scarcity on: May 12, 2024, 07:49:08 PM
I agree with the 15M value as I perceive that Bitcoin loss would keep happening even after halving.

What do you mean by "even after halving"?  You know that this is neither the first nor the last halving?

Very correct. Evaluating the number of lost coins can be very difficult, and it would be also wrong to think that all inactive wallets that holds Bitcoin are long lost. Recently, a long inactive wallet just made a transaction, which means it is certain that others might still safe.

Wait, a minute ago you were cool with a value of a 15 million Bitcoins? Whats that based on? You literally just admitted it is hard to estimate this thing!
32  Other / Meta / Re: Artificial Intelligence on the Forum on: May 12, 2024, 07:16:16 PM
i try to be as rude as possible in all my posts. no AI is rude so i'm sure no one will think i'm using it.

Most of the AI text generating tools I have tried can be "forced" (or rather persuaded) to use any expression style you want.  So, aiming for rudeness might not be the unique snowflake you think it is.  I think the content of your posts is much more important than the way you express it. Whether it is polite or rude makes no difference.
33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fake website on: May 11, 2024, 09:56:00 PM
~
how can someone dictate a fake website? because is getting too much, is there anyway the comonas need to know things like this if there is any.
The easiest step is to check the fake site on the platform trustpilot. You just enter the site and see what the scores and reviews are from friends there.

Trustpilot reviews offer some value, but should not be the sole factor when evaluating a website's legitimacy.  Counterfeit sites have become adept at manipulating reviews to appear authentic.  Just like fake products, there are also fake reviews.  Scammers can pay for positive reviews or write them themselves to make a website seem legit.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you start investing in bitcoin because of some celebrity ? on: May 11, 2024, 09:48:49 PM
Nope! I wouldnt recommend basing investment choices on celebrities.  Just because someones famous doesnt automatically make them an expert on finances or Bitcoin and  celebrities often get paid to promote products or services, but that doesnt mean they actually use or even understand what they are endorsing.

It is best to think critically and do your own thorough research before investing money into anything.  Dont just blindly follow a celebritys endorsement or advice without looking into the pros and cons yourself first.  They may have different incentives than looking out for your best financial interests.
35  Other / Meta / Re: Artificial Intelligence on the Forum on: May 11, 2024, 09:33:38 PM
Maybe we should ask the expert   Grin
~

That "expert" is a bit biased, dont you think?

36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Bitcoin and possible future scarcity on: May 11, 2024, 09:19:35 PM
  • Do you think all dormant wallet (long inactive wallets) are gone forever?

Of course not. It would be foolish to think that way.

Quote
  • As we are not certain of Satoshi's return, should we be bothered about his dormant wallets?

I see no reason why.

Quote
  • do you think lost Bitcoin can cause Bitcoin scarcity in the future?

Thats kind of obvious.  If there is less of something, of course that means it is scarcer.

Quote
  • From a total of 21million total supply, can you attempt a prediction guess of the total number of Bitcoin that would be in active wallets after all Bitcoin has been mined?

You mean in 100 or so years? Well, thats a long way off.  Human civilization itself might be a whole different story by then.  Predicting something so specific is impossible.
37  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding dormant wallets for beginners on: May 11, 2024, 09:09:14 PM
Because coins haven't moved out from an address for six months or longer does not mean the coins are lost. It is impossible to know if the coins in a particular address is lost, expect the owner tells you so and signs a bitcoin message from the address.
No, I disagree with you, if someone is able to sign a message from an adress it means he's still owning the private key and he's still controling the address and the funds belonging to it. So if someone does that, you shouldn't believe them and you should consider those coins and this address as not lost instead. To be honest I don't think there is a way to know if some coins are really lost, because the owner could retrieve his private key one day even if he is not hoping it anymore.

Haha, you are not wrong! Coyster's take on lost Bitcoin is a bit of a head-scratcher.   Signing a message from an address proves it is not lost, not the other way around.  Wink
38  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Betcoin.AG Deleted my account after I made a withdrawal after winning. on: May 11, 2024, 08:24:47 PM
Just to clarify, have you tried to contact them in any other way than the live chat on the site? It might be helpful to actually email customer support.

Yes I am comfortable sharing it. but does my Email have to be in the screenshot? I would be more than happy to send the screenshot with my mail to someone that works at Betcoin instead if thats possible. Maybe I can post it with the email here but can I delete This thread in the future? just so my mail wont be out there.

No, you dont need to include your email address in the screenshots.  While you can delete your own post later, keep in mind that entire threads (including other people's posts) cannot be deleted. Also, your post may still be available on archived sites maintained by third parties.
39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What can we do to make Bitcoin hit $100k on: May 10, 2024, 09:15:43 PM
From my perspectives, I think the crypto market is being manipulated by the whales and ETF firms because this is not what we speculated to have happened in the crypto market. Normally history repeats itself but this time we are seeing something different and we need to ask questions. The have pumped the price of Bitcoin to a level where they wanted it to fall so that they could accumulate enough holdings before leaving it to continue going bull. Anybody that is not patient would have to lose their funds..

Every past bull and bear market in Bitcoin and other markets has seen the same thing.  Whales and big players have a role for sure.  But we gotta be real, thinking its all a big conspiracy wont get you anywhere and  these markets pump hard and crash hard.  Thats how it goes.  The whales might push things one way or another now and then, but they aint the only drivers behind it all.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share your top mistakes in crypto - learning from others experiences! on: May 10, 2024, 09:05:37 PM
I used to obsessively watch the charts and make trades based on rumors I saw online.  Total recipe for getting rekt.  Id freak out whenever prices swung wildly.  Now I know volatility is just part of the game.

Also, I almost fell victim to a phishing scam once. Some fake site almost got me to enter my private key and drain my wallet.  Those days of newbie mistakes were sweaty and stressful, but at least I learned a few good lessons about personal security.
