Anybody know this idiot Stefan Thomas really exists? https://www.businessinsider.de/wirtschaft/finanzen/bitcoin-vergessenes-passwort-kann-viele-millionen-euro-kosten-a/?amp

Telling in the article how great banks and governments are and why bitcoin is not that great. Because he lost his password to 7002 bitcoins. Sounds like a another fake story from fakestream media to me.

lets say he lost his password for 7002 coins.

I would think that he could toss 1,000,000 usd at it to crack the password.

7002 x 33000 =  231 million plus

It's an IronKey. Those USB drives that have a code or physical button to unlock it. It's probably AES encrypted and the key gets nuked after 10 failed attempts. He'd need a hardware hacker to look at it, or talk to IronKey (or Kingston, they are now owned by Kingston) and offer them $1m to successfully unlock it (and maybe $1000 to try really hard.)

This is why I don't really like hardware solutions when you can use software. You can upload some files to worldwide torrents and they'll be backed up 1000 times, no one can open them unless they have the password. example: wikileaks insurance files.

I might get an IronKey because it looks cool: aluminum enclosure, epoxy-filled casing. But otherwise, I'd just as well get multiple USB drives from different manufacturers to store back ups of important stuff.

Yeah, he's gonna have a tough time.

EDIT:
But then he must have copied the wallet.dat from a computer... what happened to that?

The FBI has made a public statement that there is no evidence the Antifa were part of the Trump riot.  They should know as they have already arrested over 93 rioters.

I am sure that the division will continue under Biden, Trump voters feel cheated of their victory and do not accept the new president. You can see even here how deluded some people are.

Just like Hillary voters felt cheated of their victory and decided not to accept the result...

Man, yeah, those 2016 riots. Such a tragic loss of so many lives.

He just keeps doubling down with nonsense

Wow, that's some special kind of twisted logic right there. He's really had to scratch the bottom of the barrel to find that justification.

Let's assume the guy is an actor, who in turn is then delivering the stage  Roll Eyes Shocked --> follow the money, oops i meant, follow the BTC

My bad. Actors don't have political opinions, do they? Particularly one's of such standing.

Proud Boys reached the Senate floor

Let’s call this for what it is.  An attempted coup.

Let's call your posts for what they are: left wing disinformation.

Antifa/BLM members, posing as Trump supporters:

Also notice that guy to the left of center, with what appears to be a hammer and sickle tattoo on his left hand.

My opinion of you, infofront, has just dropped considerably.

SSD's are a poor medium for long-term storage.
And more generally complex electronics such as PCs and their many multiple single points of failure is not something to be relied upon.

But whatever you choose, those 12/24 words still need secure storage.

So, why would anyone need or want a Ledger if almost anything it does can be done on any computer? Perceived security because it's a "hardware wallet" that's small and convenient? Small 10 inch or 13 inch laptops can do the same thing and more. (it's the "more" part that opens up a larger attack surface.)
Any old phone can do the same thing, take it offline (no sim, no wifi) and its a hardware wallet. Connect to PC with USB or turn on wifi to have hot wallet.

Harder to back up.

I find these pc's to be really good

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-OptiPlex-790-USFF-PC-Computer-i5-2500s-2-7GHz-4GB-No-HDD-No-OS/133609240209?

add 2 sticks of Samsung ram and a 2tb ssd.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/16GB-2x8GB-PC3L-12800s-DDR3-1600MHz-2Rx8-Non-ECC-Samsung-M471B1G73QH0-YK0/274616178500?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-860-EVO-1TB-SSD-Internal-2-5-inch-MZ-76E1T0B-AM-Solid-State-Drive/184577795518?

clone 2 backup hdds.
and have an extra pc

keep off line locate
the backup clones off site.

cost

2x69 = 138 for 2 pc's
3x98 = 296 for 3 ssd's
1x50 =  50 for 16gb ram

484 full price for secure setup.

if you have 24000 stored.    484 is pretty much a 1 time cost.

have a trezor for <1000
have an exchange for <2000

or 2 exchanges each under <1000

when you download the blockchain you are capped by your download speeds on your internet.

the units above will download the chain at about 90gb an hour so 4-5 hours one time download.

Im not stupid enough to type my details into any internet "have I been hacked" search engine.

But had no spam so far.

No need. You can download the leaked files and search yourself using a text editor. That's what I did.

Can't help feeling possessing such data is perhaps a little naughty.

I've read some utter tosh in my time, but that really takes the biscuit.  A future writing pulp sci-fi beckons.

Try the P+S section.
It takes the whole cookie biscuit jar, always good for a chuckle though...

Jesus Titty-fucking Christ!  Shocked

That is exactly why I don't venture outside of this thread.

That horror crash from Romain Grosjean, that accident was the worst i've seen in along time. Shocked

His escape is miraculous, enduring 5-10 sec in flames just amazing that he was able to get out of that car.

Was just about to post this; been watching myself. Fucking amazing he managed to get out of that alive. I've never seen a modern F1 car go up like that. So fucking lucky! His head was between the TecPro barrier and the halo. I have no idea how he survived

https://streamable.com/uzgo2z

Never seen anything like before! Absolutely crazy! Just goes to show how safe those safety cells are and that the halo didn't hinder, and possibly saved his life! I mean, he went THROUGH the barrier!
Questions are gonna be asked... why was the barrier at that angle? Why wasn't there a tire barrier in front of it? How did the fuel cell rupture so badly?
Nuts.
