21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Should QubitCoin Become Merge Mined [POLL] on: September 06, 2014, 09:45:48 PM
Qubitcoin is a coin which was released several months ago which has been left without a development team.

Currently as part of myriadcoin's PolyMYR project i am offering to update Qubitcoin to the latest LTC base, while keeping its current features(diff retarget, block reward, qubit algo) and adding merged-mining.

What is merged mining?

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/273/how-does-merged-mining-work

Advantages of merged mining
- Increase in hashrate, therefore leading to an increase in security
- Increase in the size of the development team
- Increase in the usefulness of the coin itself with the likelihood of being added to myriad's services
- Security from being kept up to date with LTC sources

Disadvantages
- Possability of a larger blockchain
- Future Hard Fork's must be done in co-operation with merged-miners

Not really i mainly ran a Pool for HBN when it first launched

And yes its possible that its a a PoW issue since PoW isnt technically used at all in ADT and since cgb favours PoW its not a good combination
24  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 06, 2014, 02:19:08 PM
because it shows they're mining on pools and the operators of those pools themselves have said that theyre's no sign of it hashing on their pool.

i really have no idea how to fix the syncing issue to be quite honest. The best i can do is attempt to port ADT to another coin's source. So if  anyone has some suggestions on a rock solid, fast PoS time coin plz tell.

About the Staking changes. I've never done anything like it. But as always i can try and give it a shot using another hard fork from another coin as a comparison. So again ideas please

Ahmed

adt was made from cgb and that was meant to be the most stable coin at the time is it possable that somthing went wrong when it was made  ?

Not at all.

The coin was coded in the following Stages:

1) Batch Script Replacing all References of CGB with ADTv2
2) Set Network Parameters. (PchMessageStart, Base58(Addresss) Prefixes, Block and Stake Times and Block Reward Schedules)
3) Hash The genesis block
4) Set Checkpoints.
5) Launch.

I'd reckon that genesis mining would ROI better than other alternatives such as CEX.io but im not sure. Anyone have any comparisons?
Maybe a Hashlet Genesis from GAW?
10 GH/s costs $9.95

The lack of proof that it's hashing on the pools that they say it is worries me when it comes to the hashlet.

Only one that i know of is liquidcoin. pre-2012 coin not sure if its still alive
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Merged-Mining ChainID Registry on: September 04, 2014, 05:39:50 PM
It's mainly to ensure theres no collisions. If 2 coins have the same id it means they both cannot be merged-mined at the same time as far as i know.
31  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 04, 2014, 01:54:02 PM
i think they have a new project dubbed project x which ensures ROI.

Updated with blake 256 coins. Would MM CryptoNote coins be useful?

Blue could you add any new MM coins to this registry here as and when they're made: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=769073.msg8668650#msg8668650

Every coin that can be merge mined needs to have it's own ChainID.

I will keep a list in this topic.
AlgoCodeNameChain ID
ScryptFSCFusioncoin0 ?
ScryptUSCUnitedScryptCoin1
ScryptHUCHuntercoin2
ScryptBSSBosscoin4
ScryptRSVReservecoin7
ScryptBURBurbucoin32
ScryptTPSTemplecoin36

Distinctions:
-It isnt possible to merge mine across different algorithm's
-It isnt possible to merge mine coins with the same Chain ID on the same algorithm being mined

I think the fellow ahmed_bodi mistaken. He was referring to MYR not LTC. ahmed_bodi what your relationship with the whole project myriadcoin?

Nope. i'd be updating Q2C to the LTC codebase but keeping it the Q2C changes such as the algo, address versiom difficulty algo etc. And why should Q2C be merged-mined. No one takes a coin which is easy to be attacked seriously.

I made a merged mining patch for qubitcoin. i can help update q2c to LTC code and then hard fork it for myriadcoin mm

write some more about this patch and concepts. What are your expectations of what you need?

gjhiggins alive? Wink

It allows myriadcoin users to mine qubitcoin with the same hashpower increasing the security of qubitcoin. so qubitcoin miner's can mine myriadcoin and get qubitcoin at the same time. So fair both ways Cheesy
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Genesis-Mining Review on: September 03, 2014, 07:49:14 PM
thats true however i wonder if thats the case. This reddit post makes me think that they have something more profitable coming out soon. see: http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/2fddnz/project_x_from_genesis_mining/

Also i think they're changing the way they do everything as their offering life time contracts which means that its something that should pay itself off eventually. its not something like renting hashes where it wont ROI.

Genesis Mining Cloud-Hash Review

I've recently started renting some scrypt hashpower from them and with much better service than i've recieved in comparison to companies like cex.io or standard rental sites like betarigs i felt like this needs promoting more

How does it work

At the moment Genesis Mining currently allow user's to buy sha256 hashpower for bitcoin and scrypt hashpower for a wide range of altcoin's. This is used to mine on their own hand picked pool's or solo mined on their own coin daemon's to give back to user's the fee savings. According to a support ticket i sent to genesis mining, They plan on allowing user's to mine sha256 altcoins rather than only bitcoin as they do at the moment. In addition to this they are also planning on cutting the prices of their scrypt contracts to 39 USD MH/s per year. At the moment they dont do X11 hashpower however i've been told its something they intend to do.

Why i like them
1 thing i have found lacking in a number of cloud hashing and rental services is the inability to split hashpower between multiple coins. This is something which genesis-mining allows very easily using their dashboard. At the time of writing this, genesis mining allows people to split their hashpowe between the following coins:
- RDD
- BC
- LTC
- DOGE
- AUR
- FTC
- LOT
- MEC
- NVC
- POT

Additionally unlike gawminer's hashlet's genesis mining actually shows pictures of their miners and is overall a pretty transparent company. They have an about page with info on their company here: https://www.genesis-mining.com/about-us. Staff of the company have also attended various bitcoin conferences. In the following article about Gavin Anderson's comment stating that most cloud hashing are ponzi's genesis mining went as far as to invite Gavin to their facilities to view their vast range of hardware. http://cointelegraph.com/news/112329/gavin-andresens-fractional-reserve-mining-cloud-miners-respond.

Why i use it
As a private pool operator its often neccesary for me to rent enough hashpower to ensure that the pool works properly on any given coin. During high demand period's such as when altcoin's launch its difficult to be able to rent double digit hashpower at a good price. For this reason i am also considering buying one of genesis mining's lifetime mining contracts which i think is active as long as the payout is over the fees paid. Has anyone tried it out before so i can get some opinions before i buy it?

As well as this it also means i dont have to spend time and effort on setting up asic's, cooling and power to ensure that i'm not loosing money when the rigs are offline while genesis mining have a 100% UPTIME GUARANTEE!!. I've read a reddit post by one of the /r/BitcoinMining mod's: http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMining/comments/2enhh4/genesisminingcom_is_a_dishonestly_run_business/  and i seem to disagree with what they're saying. So far from the research i've done they seem to be one of the most reputable companies out there.

FootNote: This is an impartial review as a user of genesis mining. I've used a number of rental sites including miningrigrentals, betarigs and cloud hashing services such as CEX.io and i felt that genesis mining deserved a review
