http://organofcorti.blogspot.no/2015/07/faq-bitcoin-mining-and-luck-statistic.html

So I read this and as far I understood calculated the approximate chance of being as unlucky as eligius have been:

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=CDF(ErlangDistribution(2000%2C+2000)%2C+1.0487)

Apparently it's 1.5%..
65 in every 66 times the pool would be more lucky than it has been last year. Confirms the feeling that it has been awful..

Fun fact, I did the calculation again and now it's 0.7%

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=CDF%28ErlangDistribution%282000%2C+2000%29%2C+1.0559

That's right, in only 10 days the luck has been so bad that it straight up halved the percentile built up over a whole year of mining.

I know posting this won't make any difference, but I feel like we've earned some whining rights by now.

Can you kill spiders with the most powerful? I am so close to making a purchase it's untrue.

The most powerful laser we sell? Definitely. There are probably more efficient ways of killing spiders though.

You probably mean 1 in 66 times less lucky than last year, otherwise you are saying that we exceeded the expected luck.

Oh yes haha

I have been mining for around a year on eligius with around 19 BTC payout total, and my total luck is 95.35% right now. That is pretty awful considering the time frame..

good point: aren't luck supposed to be close to 100% over long periods?
I also mined on the same machine exactly a year and my luck record is 94.25%

Our software LasershowGen won second place in the 2015 International Laser Display Association Fenning Awards for Technical Achievement! VRLSS got an honorable mention. http://www.laserist.org/awards2015.htm

No one buying that progam has paid in bitcoin yet if I remember correctly. It might be too much to hope for that the hobby lasershow niche and bitcoin niche overlaps but it would be a cool milestone!

Hi. I have ben mining for about 2 months now on eligius. But it seems that i always get less coins than what i should get.
My average gh/s is 3,629.51 Gh/s for over a very long period. But i am just getting around 0.0229 per day. Where i should get 0.0298.

I have 3 Antminer S5 with temps around 50-55c

Im just curious. Any ideas why its like that?
Btw i have about 1% Hw Error after 27 days up time and less than 0.002% rejected.

The last couple of weeks have been very unlucky, that is probably skewing the average.

On the stats page you can see the total luck percent over the course of your mining.

Okay. Is it just beacause of that? I am lossing about 1/3 om my total reward. Seems little to much.

The total percent is about 90%

If the total luck is 90% then you should have earned 90% of the expected amount since you started.

How are you calculating the expected and actual earnings to get only two thirds?

There does seem to be something strange going on with the payout queue. I've been seemingly popping in and out of the queue for the last few days. Currently I have 0.2 BTC unpaid balance yet the stats webpage says I am not in the queue: https://gyazo.com/88412bfaf1a2af4c9eb1e302ed694ff0

But yesterday I was in the queue, and then the day before that I was not in the queue. And when I am in the queue, if I recall correctly it seems like the queue position is dereasing much more slowly than usual
32  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: Varför är det så dött i skandinaviska forumet? on: September 27, 2015, 10:06:00 AM

Dessverre er det stadig færre nordmenn som sel bitcoin til meg.  Eg må kjøpe inn stadig meir frå utlandet, trass i at eg betaler betre kurs enn nokon annan børs.

Yes Australia is one of the strictest. IIRC if a laser is over 1mW it is classified as a weapon and not permitted without a license.
35  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitLasers.com - Handheld Lasers and accessories (We ship worldwide) on: August 19, 2015, 09:58:13 AM
I think I can indulge myself a small bump  Grin

I am actually contemplating shutting the store down sometime within the next few months, due to the ever increasing amount of laws relating to lasers. The hobby is in a sad state.
Wat did the Feds pay u a visit or something? Dont listen to them man. They just bein totalitarian is all. Anything that can be perceived as a threat...

I mean unless they like forced u to implant spy chips and GPS tracking things in your products, then yeah, that would be a good time to stop.

No I haven't had any visits from law enforcement. But the laws have changed a lot since I started the shop, I'm no longer even sure that it's legal or not, it's a mess to be honest. I'd rather not take the chances and quit before I get any visits.

Now if it's just the fact that ur not getting that many sales and u think its cuz more ppl are being forbidden, I dont think so. Its just cuz ur lasers are a little bit behind the times... maybe a little on the pricey side... I wont say where, but theres some other guys with a 7W 445 nm for only about 199 USD. People want to see more upgrades and variety. There was also a 405 nm 900W for about a hundred....

(and yeah they also ship worldwide, with some exceptions. Didn't read into it too much cuz budget aint all that atm. )

All I can say is you get what you pay for  Wink I have regularily been lowering prices and adding new models, just look at the web archive how my site looked two years ago.

Prices like 7W for $199 sound sketchy to be honest, I couldn't sell that even if I wanted, it's below even my raw cost of components. And I need a margin to merely stay even if I am to be able to for example honor refunds. Customer service is important, I've had hundreds of sales and I don't think you'll find a single one that feels displeased or have their complaints ignored. If it's a site in China working for pennies on the hour and without a safety net margin, of course I can't compete with that..

Can anyone explain this? In the image below, at the point the arrow is indicating, a block was found. Yet I was awarded practically nothing. The "estimated change" was indeed almost zero, actually negative for some time, for the whole duration of the round. Why? As you can see from the image, my hashrate was normal. It's not because it was hitting the maximum reward either, my current total earnings are more than half a BTC under that, with a total luck of 95.85%. I see no reason why I should not be rewarded for that round..

38  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: Dyrt og lite vits i å kjøpe ASIC miner? KNC Solar også? on: August 03, 2015, 03:54:25 PM
Du kan selv sjekke regnestykket f.eks. her: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator
