its not insecure.. ddwrt is one of the most secure firewalls.
is you access fully open, then its config, not related to showing ddwrt to public.
keep a safe password and your safe.

Firewalls should not run a web interface pointing to the interwebs

so if  the web interface is your problem. disable it..
a 15 digit password and no standard username makes any bruteforce attack on it impossible..
if anyone hacks my units, i salute the for the hours of hashing they might steal from me..

why would it be complicated to use another escrow? silly to pay huge amounts for receving a few messages..

I stopped mining and blocked internet. Here's what I've got:
Uptime: 1h 23m 2s
RX: 1.17 MB (8347 Pkts.)
TX: 879.54 KB (2055 Pkts.)

By the way, if the reason is in lack of security.. can anyone help with setting up the firewall?
I'm mining at eligius.st and bitcoin.cz.
How to allow traffic only to and from these sites and to me by my MAC address

mac addresses stop at your router and is not published to net.
dont worry about trolls. ddwrt is safe, keep a solid password and you are fine..

so are we making a deal or?

Thank you for detailed answer. Here's what I've got: 2Gb for just 5h 35m:

My Avalon is hosted in the datacenter and they are asking me to pay bills for this gigabytes (total 143 Gb for more than 1 month).

I have this in 24h:

RX: 15MB
TX: 9 MB

By the way, you have your systems sitting naked on the Interwebs without any firewalling? Eh yuck...

The router having cgminer installed is actually a firewall. Do you consider it to be easily hacked?

question! Running two avalon batch 2 units on one raspberry pi with usb ports using both ports of the raspberry pi should not be any problems? (cgminer)

So as of today, steamboat still doesn't have a fully functioning unit. (from test chips that arrived on time)

I have been keeping my calm throughout this whole ordeal, but this last update is starting to shake my nerves.

Imagine what would have happened if all the chips were actually delivered on time:  As of today, we still wouldn't have fully assembled units.

I believe so! And bkkcoins has not logged in in more than 2 weeks to the forum (the maker of the klondike board). Bkkcoins seems to have abandoned his thread completely according to what i can see.

Ok then.
Stupid question, you got the other unit fully working on usb mining? just so we are sure that the usb mining setup is correct.
It is important to connect all power cables wherever they is a space, it is way too much current for one or two cables. There is proof of a guy frying his unit when only connecting one powercable (all current on one cable).
Then, you can try the boards one by one in the miner, see if you get them to work with only one unit (make sure to sett the proper mining amount cards in the cgminer settings).
Last step, would be to test each of the distribution cards from the working miner in your faulty one.
To set lan, just login to your unit, set the lan interface to a fixed ip on the same subnet as your router, disconnect from the wifi, connect the cable to your router.
you can the access the unit using lan on the ip that you just set it to.

What a lucky streak lately!! Lets keep it up. Smiley
218  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: September 16, 2013, 09:46:35 PM
did you try skipping the router, plugging usb directly to pc? disconnect inside avalon.
sometimes the router pcb faults due to overheating.. the cards are 20usd on ebay..
disable wlan. only use lan. seems your lan goes on and off?
did you try modules one by one in your working module to see if one is faulty?
