201  Other / Meta / Re: It's Time For Theymos To Kill The Alt Section on: January 29, 2014, 07:28:59 PM
Even though I am a strong Alt supporter, I have to agree with the OP.  And have said this for a while now.  BCT is and always was about Bitcoins, not altcoins.  And usually the environment here is usually negative in regards to Alt coins.

The mods don't really care about Altcoins, and don't want/need this much traffic.  It's only creating work for them, and taking up their bandwidth/server space.  There are perfect Altcoin forums already in place like https://cryptocointalk.com/ which already has a section open for every single Alt coin out there, and they gladly accept people making Altcoin Giveaway threads.

No I don't have anything to do with the site myself, but I think we as a whole should start moving over there, even though this one is more popular.

I dont get it... You and OP dont need this section, but you are posting here? Why do you even click this part of the forum when you dont need it?

I pretty much only deal with Altcoins, so of course I am going to click and use this section.  What I was saying is that this forum has always been the most caustic forum on the internet for anything related to Altcoins, and it would be better for us as a whole to be on a forum that actually supports our interests.

This is why I suggested we should all mutually pick a different forum where we can do our own thing, and where things like giveaways are asked for, and not banned.  Or where everytime a new altcoin comes online, there aren't 50 people waiting to say crap about Altcoins.  If everyone as a whole doesn't like cryptocointalk, possibly people could start using the Litecoin forums Altcoin section, as that is at least more related to us, as it is an Altcoin forum.    The owners of this site have pretty much shown us the door, don't know why we are all fighting to stay here.

Also what I am saying, we have proven, we have the majority of the traffic here.  The altcoin forums were here when we were small and tiny, but like atp mentioned, our community has grown up and it's time we move to our own location.  If anyone wants the ad revenue, and has the time to mod a forum, now is the perfect time to open altcointalk.org or something similar.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 29, 2014, 05:30:39 PM
There are two possibilities:
- all the lazy holders have, by coincidence, bought ixcoin
- the real holders are just a few, but very big ones

I don't believe in coincidence.

There are 3 possibilities.  Even though the second one is very much the case as well.  Holding a large % of coins, and not trading them causes the coin to grow very stale.

The 3rd possibility, which I know for a fact exists, as I have a few friends that are big BTC miners.  The coin is merge mined with BTC.  That is a blessing and a huge curse rolled into 1.  The BTC miners are getting these coins, but since they are worth virtually nothing, they don't even bother downloading a wallet to pick them up or sell.  They just sit there collecting dust, and causing the coin to grow stale in the process.  They aren't even touching their NMC coins, as they feel $7 a coin isn't worth their time to collect them up and sell either.

Granted Cryptsy isn't the biggest exchange out there.  But looking at volumes and seeing times where no IXC was traded, ad other times when 3 coins traded here, 7 there is very discouraging to anyone wishing to invest in this coin.  Especially when you consider the sheer number of coins that are available in the market.  This isn't 21 coin we are talking about here.

204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When will scrypt coins be halving? on: January 29, 2014, 05:02:41 PM
It wouldn't have been bad a few months ago to make a site like your asking, but with the stupid amounts of coin releases daily now, it would be a nightmare to try to keep it up to date.  If you have a lot of free time on your hands, you should make one for us.  Not sure what the hit rate would be, but you might make a bit off advertising.

For me, I would suggest looking at the [Ann] threads, it usually lists when the coin halves, or if it halves, since some never do anymore.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newbie's stupid question on: January 28, 2014, 09:15:23 PM
mm.. sorry about my english, it's not my first language Sad

Im cpu mining with an old Intel processor (maybe celeron?), which sucks, I know, but as I use a Macbook myself, it is the only option I have at the moment - dont laugh at me  Wink

Yes, the cpuminer reports 1.17 hash/s average and the pool says 1 hash/s.. is that close enough? I also noticed that the "thread" is always 0 , is that correct?

Thanks for your help!

Umm in that case, it might be possible your share is so small it isn't showing up on the list yet. (Like 0.0000000021 DOGE)  I would advise you to stop mining, as you using more money in power then your are generating mining.  Find a place to buy some BTC and trade it in for some DOGE if you wish.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newbie's stupid question on: January 28, 2014, 09:12:29 PM
I will take a few quick shots at your questions.

First.  There are literally thousands of people mining a coin like DOGE.  Maybe tens of thousands.  Only 1 person in that entire group will find a block, for every block that is released.  This means some people would never find a block in their life.  Huge miners might find a few blocks a day, but everything is based on luck, and results would be sporadic.

What pools are, are groups of people all mining together on the same team, and sharing the results.  t essentially would be no different then you and a few friends all buying a rig, and solo mining with it, and saying you will split the earnings everytime someone lucks out and finds one.

Since your dealing with complete strangers, and everyone will be bringing a different amount of computing power to the game, they had to change the rules a bit.  Instead of saying they would split the earnings equally to all members, they look at the amount of work each miner brings to the table.  Kind of like if you bought 5 miners each worth $2000, and your friends each only have 1 - $500 miner.  You might not like the fact you are putting in a lot more money and a lot more money into the power bills, and getting the same as your friends.

So they break the work into work shares.  Every time someone in the pool finds a block, your pools software will take the block reward and divide it between the number of work shares you worked during finding the block.  Bringing that back to your imaginary friend pool.  If you mined for 6 hours before you found a block, with all your computers running at maximum, you might get 20 times the power X 6 hours or 120 shares of the money made.  Your friends coming in with 1 times the power, and mining all 6 hours would deserve 6 equal shares of the money.  If one of your friends had his 1 share machine on for 3 hours, then decided to play Battlefield 4 for the remaining 3 hours, he doesn't deserve the same share as the guys mining for 6 hours, so he would get 3 shares of the money.

That is the over simplified version of how pools work.  There is a lot more going on to keep people from pool jumping ect. but I am not going to go into all that here, since your new to the game.

As for the problems you are having, what type of card are you mining with?  AMD/NVidia?  Are you attempting to mine with a Block eruptor?  Are you CPU mining?  Also when you signed up for the pool, did you remember to create a worker, and is that information entered in your batch file you made to start your miner?  Or did you just copy and paste a script off the page, that stated :

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
 cgminer.exe --scrypt -o netcodepool.org:3333 -u user.name -p password --thread-concurrency 16320 --gpu-engine 1055 --gpu-memclock 1500 --no-submit-stale --intensity 13 --worksize 256 -g 2

and you left the -u being user.name and the -p being password?   You have to change those to whatever you set in your pool as your user.name and your password, or you will mine forever, and the pool won't know where to send your shares.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the unit of difficulty published by CoinWarz?? on: January 28, 2014, 03:40:09 AM
The difficulty listed on the CoinWarz site is the actual coin difficulty.  CGMiner totally screws up the network difficulty for scrypt coins.

Here is a thread that may help

208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The World's Biggest Mega Yacht, M/Y MARINECOIN-HASHPOWER on: January 27, 2014, 03:04:23 PM
Ok now I am just confused.  If what you say is true, it's definitely a different approach that's for sure.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: marinecoin the newest contender, this one is different on: January 26, 2014, 11:32:52 PM
If you want the people to "trust" you, you should really start acting trustworthy.

IE.  In the beginning, the Hector sock puppet was a Drunk professor from London who had no ties to this coin, but thought it looked better then the rest.  Monica was a younger woman working for an investment company, where they were looking at getting into the Cryptocurrency market, and thus she stumbled upon this amazing coin with a truly outstanding economic formula.  She also happened to be from London, and the 2 of you started talking to each other, both about how excited you were about this coin.  It has since been proven that both accounts are sock puppets for pumping massive spam about your coin.

And yet you want everyone to trust you with a 97.8% premine.

Also, and I quote you on this.  How do you propose you will have the ($15 Billion US) you require to purchase the land and build your futuristic city, when in fact you can't touch the premined coins?  Are you expecting the 0.1% of the remaining coins that will be mined during your lifetime to have enough value to purchase this property?  And won't a portion of that 0.1% of the coins be in the hands of people other then yourselves?
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: marinecoin the newest contender, this one is different on: January 26, 2014, 04:32:44 PM
We won't do anything about your coin/community, aside from try to warn others about your coin.  If you wouldn't continue to spam the forums everytime someone shows how your coin works, and stuck to 1 thread, we wouldn't constantly be on your case.  And if you are proud of how your coin works, you should stick with the thread, and make a come back as to why it is better the way it works, instead of starting yet another thread hiding the objective of the coin.

Just stick with this one here.  You have an open forum.  Explain the ideas of the 97.2% premine, and the 2.8% total number of coins to me mined at an equal rate over the next 1000 years.  I know you say you can't touch the pre-mine, and that is it for paying interest to the miners.  But considering if the coin lasted 100 years, the amount of interest on 0.28% of a coin is only a small fraction of that 0.28%.

Another thing you can explain.  You market the coin as having a value of $0.97 US.  This is the price you sell the coins at.  Yet you will only give miners a small fraction of that if they want to sell their coins back to you.  And to make things more sketchy, you like to take the $0.97 one way value of the coin, and instead of applying that to the number of coins "in circulation", you take it to the grand total of all the pre-mined coins to falsely give your coin a market cap second only to BTC.  Yet the coins actual market cap is probably around $500.

If you want believers.  You should also showcase the fact you want to in fact sell the coins from the untouchable premine, and purchase/build a city somewhere, where the currency will be Marinecoins, and you will form your own government there, where you will be able to purchase votes.

If this is really a great and groundbreaking concept, explain it all here, and don't just jump to your next new thread to try to hide all your concepts.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The total number of coins is meaningless on: January 26, 2014, 04:14:40 PM
I have been laughing at the same thing.  I also love posts that can't believe a coin value of 1 coin of a currency like 7 coin could possibly be worth more then a coin in BTC.  It's just sliding decimal points over.  Personally I like coins with a higher value, possibly in the billions, since I don't like dealing in small decimal points just to make someone feel like the coin is more rare.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: marinecoin the newest contender, this one is different on: January 26, 2014, 03:21:44 PM
Some premine?  Lol, they pre-mined 97.2% of the coins, and the remaining 2.8% is to be mined at an equal rate for the next 1000 years.  So even after 10 years (If this coin lasts more then a few days), the Devs would hold 97.8% and the miners would hold about 0.028%.

But that are going to buy a tropical paradise, and build a $15 billion city on it (with your money).  And they will form the government on this island.  And last but not least, they will charge you to vote of the island, since it is democratic after all.  You can't make stuff up that is funnier then all of this.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LAUNCH] [YUM] BaconBits - A coin so good you'll want to eat it! on: January 26, 2014, 07:46:27 AM
Lol its been another week that the dev has been gone, since saying he was going to be back and help revive this coin.  Lol.  I don't understand what would make a person put the time and energy (and possibly money) into a venture like developing a coin, then fall off the face off the earth to watch their coin die.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how many altcoins exist ? on: January 24, 2014, 10:29:57 PM
Here is an even bigger and more up to date list.  I still don't know if it has them all

https://cryptocointalk.com/

Scroll down past the hosted forums and you have all the announcements for every other coin, and they are broken down a bit, but its a huge pile

215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 23, 2014, 10:19:36 PM
If it makes you feel better I sold the DOGE I mined to buy IXCoins  lol.  I never did like that coin, but the money is flowing there so might as well grab some while I can.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 23, 2014, 08:27:18 PM
That looks really good.  What you have done to IXCoin Frictionless has surprised me,  in that today I bought my first IX Coins.  And Vlad has surprised me as well, in that since he got back from his holidays, he isn't well... Vlad.  Maybe someone dumped his body in a river and there is an imposter Vlad here  Smiley.    Keep up the good work.

But before you worry about getting people here, you need to get people holding the coin to loosen the purse strings.  There really is NO volume at all on this coin, which is surprising since there are millions of coins out there.  It's very odd to see Volume numbers with numbers like 3 coins traded here, 7 there.  And this is on a coin with a value of $0.11.  If everyone waits until the price is $800 before they sell, well then the coin will die, and all the marketing you throw at it won't help.

Possibly targeting store locations to take your coin and get coins flowing might help you alot in getting things going.
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Guys don't worry if your coin is not being traded here is why. on: January 23, 2014, 06:41:52 PM
Ok, then the question is if I mine a few MTC, will you in fact pay me $0.97 US for each coin?

And WTH.  You're all about trying to create a paradise for your supporters, yet you just said you are paying them less then market value for their coins?  Shouldn't you instead be paying them more then market value, and upping the price to $1.10 US per coin, that should rocket the Market cap to being higher than BTC's  Tongue
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Guys don't worry if your coin is not being traded here is why. on: January 23, 2014, 06:13:49 PM
After 2 months, the total number of coins for your entire population will be approx 240,000 based on 1 coin every 2 minutes.  If you have any kind of a following what so ever, the majority of the mined blocks would be in the hands of the miners (your supporters).  Even if the dev team manages to get 10% of the coins for themselves (or is there something in the mining protocol that awards the devs 97.2% of the mined coins as well?  That would be a grand total of about 24,000 Marinecoins to run your exchange off of.

Also LMAO, you guys are hilarious.  I just checked your site again, and I see you are pre-valuing your coins at $0.97 US, and claim to have a $9.5 Billion US Market cap, but you can't have much more than 2000 coins in the hands of the miners.   Congrats, you almost already have enough to purchase that futuristic city in the sky.  Err I mean tropical paradise in Antarctica.

I was also wondering, if i was to mine your coin for a bit, is there an actual place that I can trade that MTC for BTC/LTC or cash at the actual value being $0.97 US?.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Guys don't worry if your coin is not being traded here is why. on: January 23, 2014, 05:37:14 PM
Lol, trading your new coins that might be worth something in for coins that are worthless.

So tell me, since there is only 1 coin per block, and the demand is really low, are the Marinecoins you are trading for all the other coins coming from the "pre-allocation"??
