NxT hasn't it even recovered to the $80-$110 million capitalization it had in early 2014 and you think it will hit $1.

NxT is slowly dropping to $40 million and could hypothetically return to the $20 million it was back in April.  Even on the NxT official forum, in their price speculation thread, people there aren't bullish and are concerned about whether the coin has a future due to a lack of new users coming in (the culprit they claim is most people are scared off by NxT's distribution, which is rightly so).

I completely disagree.  You couldn't actually be more wrong.  Do you even read the that thread?

This guy is a major shill that talks down on any cryptocurrency execpt his NEM-baby. I hope for him NEM becomes successfull, otherwise he mioght kill himself..

205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 08, 2014, 03:13:39 PM
There are more than 48,000 on the waiting list atm. That will indeed take weeks before you get credited if they are screening each account one by one.

Current stats: https://www.stellar.org/stats/

yeah , that is amazing .... 48'000 wallet  in less 2 days xd

It really is, especially considering that there are only about 500000 active Bitcoin users :O
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0.2 FEE!!!! ? am i missing something? on: August 08, 2014, 03:12:34 PM
Dude...it is 0.2BTC.  118.9USD.  Get a job, make the money back, and get on with your life.

Yeah most people waste 10 times more time on lost money than they would have with earning that money back...

There is currently a thread with >100 posts, where a girl has 1 "ONE" USD stuck.... hahaha

208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2015 on: August 08, 2014, 12:50:21 AM
Cryptonight is the PoW implemented in the Cryptonote codebase.

Monero is based on Cryptonote and therefore both a cryptonote and cryptonight coin.

Oh I see, never heard of that term. Do you have any good links to a whitepaper discussing it?

The original CryptoNote whitepaper is here: https://cryptonote.org/whitepaper.pdf

The CN whitepaper had not been peer reviewed, so we took that job on ourselves.

Our mathematicians and cryptographers raw (and sometimes snarky;) annotations are here: http://monero.cc/downloads/whitepaper_annotated.pdf
The review of the CN whitepaper as presented by one of our mathematicians is here: http://monero.cc/downloads/whitepaper_review.pdf

(on the topic of CryptoNight, it was never called such in the whitepaper, but is called CryptoNight in the CN reference code)

Awesome, will check this out! ~40 pages, lets hope a BSc can read those things Cheesy
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NFO] Ethereum = Scam on: August 08, 2014, 12:48:15 AM
i'll have to learn how to mine this to dump on the market. Miners will make a lot of cash with ether. But they are about the only ones who earn a buck in this. There is a dozen altcoins out there that have a more solid structure to invest in. This has a high risk of crash and burn within the first year after release.
I don't see whales pumping it with no additional mega-hype (needs to be created) because if they would it would even crash harder in the end of the day.

If that megahype can be created it will crash after that. The epic crash is to be expected in any scenario i can think of. Would they have started it like bitcoin was started from close to zero value it would have been another story and investors could have had some profits. I'd predict hot-potatoe-trading and high volatility with siginificant risk to the downside.

On the other hand ethereum will be a good prototype for clones with better distribution. The clones that start from the ground up is where the profit is for the investors.

Are there any specs at all regarding the mining of ethereum?
210  Economy / Economics / Re: How high a of a market cap would bitcoin need to have to be 'stable'? on: August 08, 2014, 12:37:12 AM
Bitcoin price will never be stable if price in fiat. The problem is paper money is too volatile.

Thats the spirit! Hahaha good one.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 08, 2014, 12:30:55 AM
I haven't invested.

One reason being that this isn't going to be ready for 6 months and I think in that timeframe there is a decent chance BTC will go on another bubble.

I'd rather have my money in BTC and alt coins with strong prospects than have it sitting doing nothing for half a year.

I also think for a project this innovative, it's likely the software development timeline will slip.

I agree that probably is the biggest risk in terms of buying ether as an investment using BTC (unless you rebuy your BTC afterwards). I think the price will probably go up after launch, but if Bitcoin goes back up to $1000 or above territory, then its unlikely that any increase in the value of ether will keep up with that.

This is indeed a very big risk, but no the biggest. There are such high hopes for ethereum now, I think people will be very dissapointed and pissed once it actually launches, so in addition to very few people buying, many will desperately want to sell, just because they are pissed.

213  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many Bitcoins needed to retire in 5-6 years? on: August 08, 2014, 12:25:21 AM
I hope 1 bitcoin will be valued 1 million dollars so I would retire in few years...

I would NOT bank on that within the next 30 years... You need a better back-up plan b/c that seems to be a 1 in a million chance, which is NOT a healthy way to live, IMHBO.

214  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many Bitcoins needed to retire in 5-6 years? on: August 08, 2014, 12:20:37 AM
20-30$ mil is way too much. Most people wouldn't be able to handle that!
215  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ban the person above you (jokingly). on: August 08, 2014, 12:17:26 AM
Banned for using "somekindabitcoin" instead of real BTC!
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0.2 FEE!!!! ? am i missing something? on: August 07, 2014, 05:49:11 PM
use electrum it let you set the fee easily without margin to mistakes
What does it do if you put the fee in where you should put the transfer amount and put the transfer amount in where you should put the fee?

Please try it and report back what happens.  Thanks!

-_- you can't be serious.

There are ways to customize the fee in electrum.

Point is: OP went in to the advanced sending mode and made a mistake.
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin STILL has the highest number of ACTIVE ADDRESSES of all the altcoins. on: August 07, 2014, 05:47:05 PM
The problem with Doge is that it has no apparent functional utility in comparison to the other alts.

So then why are people using it more than the other altcoins?

Because there's a lot of coins to be thrown around.

That's the fun of doge, being able to transact in these large denominations seemingly without worry that you're losing anything.

I use Doge often to exchange because it easy to get and it's highly fungible, that doesn't mean I believe in it's model or future value.

You just listed one of Dogecoin's utilities.

It's current utility (as crypto pocket change) is why many are not stoked about its future. What happens when it becomes easier to transact in smaller denominations of a crypto that's not flooded with a hundred billion coins on the market?

It still won't be the same. It can be confusing and seem silly to people to have to deal with BTCs, Bits, mBtcs, satoshis, and etc. while Dogecoin without denomination is a perfect amount for tipping, plus it has already established a good tipping culture on Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook.

There is an utility in it, but the worth of a crypto currency doesn't need to be in the millions to achive this. This is an inherent problem, leads to a bad store of value and a high dilution through inflation.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 07, 2014, 05:41:08 PM
It is truely impressive when looking at the numbers of stellars. Lets hope this developement also helps bitcoin. Kind of like many people learned about doge first but then realized BTC is the true deal!
219  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much of your earning you are converting to BTC? on: August 07, 2014, 05:40:08 PM
They say that I'm crazy, but i convert 60% of what I earn to BTC, 20% in FIAT and the other 20% I spend with reastaurants, clothes, etc.

They say that you can't put all the eggs in the same basket, but I don't think BTC will fail, even if it takes years to get a nice return.

What do you guys say?

All eggs in one basket is bad even if you think btc will not fail. The price can go down even if it succeed.

So? Sure you would have shortterm losses, but if you invest in it for the longterm, why would you care?

It is like a stock protfolio for your retirement, why would you care if you maybe down after 3 years?
220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0.2 FEE!!!! ? am i missing something? on: August 07, 2014, 05:38:34 PM
Did you accidentally set the transaction fee to high or was it auto set to that (were you even able to see what the fee was set to before sending)? Were you using the "advanced" feature of their new phone application?

He used the BCI web wallet and went to the advanced send section. There he confused the fee and the amount field.
