201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: December 25, 2023, 01:23:35 PM
Juventus is in a safe position at the moment, I mean they will not be distracted by the teams below them and will be fully focused on competing with Inter. In fact, the difference in points from Milan is 7 points and at least Milan can only hope that Juventus suffers 2 defeats if they want to overtake them. Apart from that, Juventus is increasingly at an advantage because it is only 4 points away from Inter and one failure experienced by Inter will make their chances of occupying the top position easier.
Juventus are in a safe position now but their target is chasing Inter Milan and win Scudetto in this season. They will not satisfy if they end this season as a runner-up. Inter Milan looks to very strong from both defense and attacking so Juventus will have big issue to catch Inter Milan. Their competitor got a bad news with Lautaro Martinez's injury and the player is still in medical assessment. No confirmation or prediction on his recovery time.

Quote
This is a place that Juventus could have secured last season if they had not been hit by problems and received a points deduction. Juventus is one of the big teams in Serie A and I see that they are still a consistent team despite all the problems that exist. When compared to Roma or Milan, Juventus are on a different level and I think they deserve to be closer every season to winning the Scudetto.
Juventus' main target is to win Scudetto but they also have to be careful with other clubs because if they can not win Scudetto, they will still have to complete in top four to play in Champions League next season. Winning Scudetto is best ending for them but if they can not win it, get a position to join Champions League is good ending for them in the season.

203  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could newbie ask their unsolved crypto related questions ? on: December 25, 2023, 11:58:30 AM
Newbies have freedom as other users, they can ask anything but they can do their searching to find answers, before asking.

Because many questions they want to ask, actually were asked many times by other newbies. So if they are laborious to learn, they can start with searching.

Learn about Bitcoin, invest in Bitcoin, forget about altcoins when you are newbies. If you can not get profit with Bitcoin, you will not get it with altcoins. If you lose money with Bitcoin, you will even lose bigger with altcoins.

204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another year is going to end. Bitcoin isn't dead on: December 24, 2023, 01:06:22 PM
It's interesting to see that the more bitcoin gains visibility and goes up in price (and then down), the more people say it's going to die. I mean, bitcoin didn't die when nobody knew about it and it was worth a few cents, it made it all the way up to $20k back in 2017 and that is when more people, because of the dump, think it's going to zero. I don't know, I just see something very strong that keeps getting stronger and stronger.
One of most famous Bitcoin haters is Peter Schiff and he always thinks and says any Bitcoin drop, correction, bear market is because Bitcoin is a bad cryptocurrency and it is starting to die soon.

Bitcoiners see Peter Schiff is wrong but he does not realize his mistakes, wrong thinkings and unfortunately it can affect many newbies.

Just ignore them.
The more we visit their website, the more they feel they are noticed by us and the more visitors they get. whether they are actually haters or not, what is certain is that they only want profit from what they say. And believe me, they will stay that way as long as they are working for it. Haters will always gonna hate, no matter what we explain. Soon, more people will become aware and will turn to love Bitcoin for certain reasons or even without significant reasons.
I don't mind about those news but I used to be newbies and was affected by such news. I am really sure there will be more newbies join this market and many of them will be affected by such news in future. It's good to see there is less fud like this but newbies can be affected by other fud types too.

I sometimes check that Bitcoin Obituraries to see another view of Bitcoin growth and see how stronger it has been becoming with time. I don't read news, visit such websites to buy uncertainty for my thinking. Newbies will have to go through long time and get experience in this market to have ability to ignore fud.
205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another year is going to end. Bitcoin isn't dead on: December 22, 2023, 11:54:50 PM
I’m curious on how he gather data for this to come up with this chart. Is he gathering data through social media post or conducting survey with limited number of sample worldwide.
You missed it.
He made it with input data from Bitcoin Obituaries.
Jameson Lopp used data from Bitcoin Obituraries website for the chart.

That website allows you to submit any Bitcoin obituary but they have criteria to accept it.

Submit: https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-obituaries/#submit
What qualify as an obituary? https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-obituaries/
Quote
As the prime source for Bitcoin obituaries we use the following guidelines in order to qualify an obituary:

  • The content itself (not just the headline) must be explicit about the fact that Bitcoin is or will be worthless (no “maybe” or “could”).
  • The content was produced by a person with a notable following or a site with substantial traffic.
  • At the time being we only accept obituaries in English.
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another year is going to end. Bitcoin isn't dead on: December 22, 2023, 07:36:27 AM
Yeah I remember how the year ended last year after Ftx went belly up. It was brutal. So many people had funds stuck on that exchange. So many people trusted SBF for some reason. For some it was that he drove the Toyota and said that he will donate all his money. Many fell for his lies.
It's bad for people who trusted SBF and FTX exchange, stored their cryptocurrency on that exchange and failed to withdraw their coins. It's painful lesson for them but they have to move on, find other opportunities in this market. They also have to learn from their painful lessons and avoid repeating it again.

Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts

If they did not store coins on FTX exchange, and just hodl their coins in non custodial wallets, they are good now.

I was among those who were affected by this type of news
Less exposure to social media, news will help you to have less panic, uncontrollable emotion and bad decisions.

But thanks to knowledge
Knowledge then experience do help you to go through similar fud or black swan events in future.

If you were affected by it, you will now from now, you must store your bitcoin in non custodial wallets, not on centralized exchanges.
207  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: address reuse within Electrum on: December 22, 2023, 04:08:42 AM
Electrum allows you to receive to different address each time but when you send it doesn't is there a wallet that allows you to generate new address to send from too?
You only can send bitcoins from your UTXOs in your wallet. If you send it all, you have nothing left but if you send part of it, you will have two options to receive rest of your bitcoins: to a same address where you send your bitcoins; to a change address. It depends on your wallet settings in past wallet versions.

Electrum change addresses in Preferences

In newest versions like 4.4.6, it is hidden and Electrum default option is always using Change addresses.

How to use the Electrum wallet receive tab.

Initial receive address is in Green.
Change address is in Yellow.
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Another year is going to end. Bitcoin isn't dead on: December 22, 2023, 03:49:44 AM

A chart means more than any word or long paragraph so let's firstly dive into above chart which was graphed by Jameson Lopp.

He made it with input data from Bitcoin Obituaries.

This summary chart presents a fact that less people wanted to call "Bitcoin is dead" with time. It is an unofficial recognition for survival of Bitcoin.

There is another website for "Bitcoin is dead" chart is Buybitcoinworldwide.com but the team behind it stopped updating the chart recent months.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 22, 2023, 03:35:48 AM
Aston Villa have a really good chance to go to the top of the table if they can win Sheffield and then Arsenal and Liverpool draw points. Aston Villa should win their game, Sheffield are no match for them in the premier league, Sheffield are 20th on the EPL ranking this season, and then looking at the form that Aston Villa play with at home, I cannot see any hope for Sheffield to win this game unless of course Aston Vila underrate them and then decide to take this game unserious.
Aston Villa is big surprise so far and they have 38 points as same as Liverpool, only one point less than Arsenal. Regarding to their attacking power, it is nearly the same as Arsenal and Liverpool with total goals they scored but in defense, they are worse than other two clubs. They got 21 conceded goals while both Arsenal and Liverpool got only 15 conceded goals but this stats is only 1 more conceded goals than Manchester City.

See Premier League table for more details about top clubs from total points to total scored, conceded goals.

Meet a team that stands at the bottom with 43 conceded goals so far is good chance for Aston Villa to have three more points then they will need to wait for bad results from Arsenal and Liverpool to climb up more on the league table.
210  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using "send everything" compromises your privacy? on: December 21, 2023, 10:27:45 AM
Because if you send all bitcoin you have in one address to another new address, it is a signal that you are sending to yourself.

If you send your bitcoin to another person, it mostly will have a left over and you will receive it in a same address or a change address, depends on your wallet configuration.

Using change address is recommended too.

211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: December 21, 2023, 03:39:44 AM
I think there's no need to discuss about Barcelona vs Napoli and Arsenal vs FC Porto, it's a sure win for both Barcelona and Arsenal, Napoli and FC Porto aren't that good compared to last season.
Surely win for Barcelona and Arsenal, seriously Despairo?

I agree that Napoli and Porto are worse than themselves in the last season but are Barcelona and Arsenal are the same as they were in the past season or are they better?

Both Barcelona and Arsenal are not better than themselves one season ago and Barcelona are even worse. Porto is very experienced in Champions League and you have to know in the last season, they went to quarter finals before lost to Inter Milan. Arsenal lost to another Portuguese club, Sporting Lisbon in Europa League, even at their home stadium.

Quote
What I think we need to pay attention is PSG vs Real Sociedad and Inter vs Atletico Madrid, I believe most people will think PSG and Inter will win since both of them were strong in the last season, but I believe this time Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid able to prove themselves even though they're underdog.
PSG seems to get a very lucky draw for this round with risk of meeting many big clubs because of their second position in their group. Inter Milan are at same quality level as Atletico Madrid and even they were a runner-up in the past season, this pair is unpredictable for a winner.
212  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How diverse is your crypto portfolio? on: December 21, 2023, 01:17:03 AM
Just wanted to know how many cryptocurrencies you're invested in? And with what percentage of your portfolio (No need to mention the amounts involved, if you don't want to). Just want to get a general sense of how everyone's diversifying their crypto assets.
Diversify your capital for your portfolio is not always good.

If you diversify your capital into shitcoins, risk becomes bigger, not smaller.

You need a good strategy:

Using most of your capital for Bitcoin and Ethereum like 80% of your capital for the two biggest cryptocurrencies.
Using 20% of your capital for altcoins. You can reduce this allocation to 10% if you are not a big risk taker.
With this 10% or 20%, use 80% of it for top altcoins.
The rest 20% of 10% or 20% of all capital, can be used for gambling with trendy coins. You can win big with them or lose all with them.

213  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is purchase of amazon gift cards legal and legit? on: December 21, 2023, 01:11:48 AM
On some Peer to Peer marketplaces, reselling giftcards on a same platform is considered as a violation of their Terms of Service. Because it can be abused by scammers, using one giftcard for different trades and scam different trade partners.

If you only want to purchase gift cards for your personal use, it's fine but you have to know risk of reselling giftcards like I said. At least the risk is big if you resell a same gift card on a same platform where you bought it.

When trading gift card with a trade partner, you must have a screen recorder that can be used as a proof of trade when you need to make a dispute.

Redeem gift card quickly because if you are late, the trade partner can scam you.

Amazon Gift Card

Ask your buyer to upload the gift card with proof. This includes a photo of the receipt.
Take a close look at the receipt. See if the receipt is under your trade partner’s name and look at the date of purchase.
Ask if their account is restricted on Amazon. Ask them how often they sell Amazon Gift Cards—if they do it often, it’s likely that their account is restricted.
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: December 20, 2023, 02:19:09 PM
I want to start thinking that Girona might win this league this season because I don't know where they got energy from to dominate this season. It is not like in the history of the club they once had a Laliga trophy that will convince me that they have experience like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and many other teams with reputation with Laliga but Girona is just different and they are even stronger than ever because so far they have the highest number of goals scored in total but I admire Real Madrid for the most disciplined team staying at the top with less number of conceded goals.
We have to seriously think about chance for Girona to win La Liga when a season already passes through nearly half of it. Real Madrid and Barcelona have their different problems which are not small and those problems from giant clubs shed a light of hope for Girona.

To win La Liga, it is not easy for Girona but if they can lead the lead after 17 matches, they can do it after like 27 matches or 30 matches and I am sure if they actually do it at that time, we will have to say Girona are counting down to lift La Liga trophy.

They still have a long journey to go but I believe they are dreaming about it and even are seriously doing their job from training to playing in real matches to collect points and with each winning, their confidence increases more and their hope becomes bigger.
215  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! Before you become a pray! on: December 20, 2023, 02:10:32 PM
As the USD value of Bitcoin rises, you would now come accross numerous posts accross multiple social media platforms and Chat apps. They as in the the scammer would offer anyone with lucrative offers.
Ignore strangers is a good prevention.

If you receive DMs from strangers which relate to money and "Too good to be true" offers, be more careful and don't send your money first to those strangers, you will lose your money.

Don't click on any link sent by strangers.
Don't download anything, any file sent to you by strangers.

Be careful and be wise when you are on the Internet and in cryptocurrency space.

You can customize your account settings and disable Automatic download file, images like on Telegram.
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Slow Bitcoin transaction, will it be a major issue in the future? on: December 20, 2023, 06:02:36 AM
Bitcoin transactions have to compete each other to be at tip of mempools for a confirmation from Bitcoin miners.

Bitcoin block time in average is about 10 minutes and I believe it won't be changed in future by Bitcoin Protocol.

Taproot upgrade opened a hole for Ordinals BRC20 developers to join Bitcoin blockchain with their tokens. This Ordinal wave caused a lot of congestion but Bitcoin block time is the same, a big change is mempools become more congested and Pending transactions are waiting in mempools with higher fee rates.

If you say Bitcoin transaction is slower, it is not correct.
217  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you still appreciates the price of Bitcoin if it hasn't be your history price on: December 20, 2023, 02:54:58 AM
Most of the people who trade in and out of Bitcoin and talk about those who earn profits have a problem being patient.
If you can not hold, you can not get rich but to hold, you need enough patience to stick with your holding and investment plan.

Quote
Bitcoin is very easy to make a lot of money as an investment and it is also very easy to lose a lot of money.
Because the Bitcoin market is zero-sum game. If there are winners who get good profit in Bitcoin market, there are also losers who lose money in this market.

If a person can hold their bitcoins, there will be a chance to get rich. The challenge is how long the holding time is, it must be like 4 or 5 years.
https://hodl.camp/

People lose money because they trade, don't hold and worse they use leverages for trading, then their bitcoin collateral was liquidated by centralized exchanges.

Quote
The difference is whether you try to trade for profit or just buy and hold. People who buy and hold for years have traditionally done very well while traders inevitably go bankrupt.
People who think it's hard to get profit with Bitcoin will have to see this ROI chart.
https://casebitcoin.com/charts#roi_chart
They will see very good ROI by holding a few years.
218  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Calculating Profit or Loss on: December 20, 2023, 02:48:13 AM
Instead of trying to formulate each equation individually, I suggest you download a template with all the details you need and then use it directly to get a result like:

<image snip>

You can find the detailed explanation here https://www.coingecko.com/learn/crypto-portfolio-tracker-google-sheets
Then you can search for open source codes on github that enable you to perform several tasks by downloading a simple template in a more professional manner.
You can use Portfolio tracker tools from Coingecko, Coinmarketcap.

Coinmarketcap Portfolio tracker which is also available on iOS and Android.

If you like open source, you can consider this one.

219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anything to worry about if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal? on: December 19, 2023, 10:08:35 AM
Anything to worry about if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal?
Will any one come knocking on your door if you use mixers and not doing anything illegal?
Bitcoin mixers or mixers in general are not illegal but they are fluctuating between legal and illegal. It is only matter of time when some criminals like Lazardus group to mix coins on a mixer and bring problems to that platform. The US. government, DOJ. will seize, sanction it and it will become illegal.

Quote
Will posts like this be banned too after Jan?
It is allowed if a discussion post has no url link to a mixer website.

Follow it in Mixers to be banned.
Follow theymos' post history to see his updates about the ban and what he adjust, finalize for January 1 ban against mixers.

Quote
Will using mixers be an expensive?
Depends on each mixer. I can not generalize service fee for all mixers.
220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you still appreciates the price of Bitcoin if it hasn't be your history price on: December 19, 2023, 04:14:01 AM
Can you make it a profited count if your present rate of value is lower than your past?
I miss something in the post or you did not express your idea well.

Profit comes only if your sell price is higher than your buy price. It must count for fee from trading fee too. If a difference between buy and sell prices is too small, it will mean nothing after you take trading fee into account (trading fee for both two tradings, buy and sell).

Quote
So my question is... If Bitcoin price at this era would hit maybe $47K as it was in 2022 or $68K as 2021, I am sure investors would be appreciated about the level of volatily but would those who accumulated their Bitcoins and had experienced such values in the history count an appreciatable profit? Because I feels they should be expecting a higher price value so as to beat their experience price histories.
In any market cycle, there will be people who buy low, sell high and other people who buy high, sell low. Even more, there are people who buy low or even buy high, miss the all time high, miss the chance to take profit, then they hold their bitcoins and wait for a new bull run.

You only get profit or get loss if you sell your bitcoin.

MicroStrategy and El Salvador got profit with their investment in Bitcoin, with continuous DCA.
