201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 28, 2018, 02:28:59 PM
It seems FBI found use case for non transparent blockchains like Monero

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AHHo9OXiwE&feature=youtu.be&t=40m35s

Blockchain is the best way to secure the information. I think you will see all banks to come to the blockchain. Keeping records through blockchain, because it will become the best way to do so. You cant break the blockchain, you cant change anything on the blockchain. So that bring us to last thing. You cant change anything on blockchain. To some little things that have to be worked out, like example we have many witness programs. So if we know who the person is and we cant change who the person is, then that become the jeopardy to that witness. So the privacy issue comes into play about. Those are the things that has to be tweaked out.

This guy likes "blockchain" mentions it in six times in six sentences in a row, but fails to mention "Bitcoin" LOL

Wait--you mean Bitcoin is the only blockchain and he couldn't be referring to the technology that Bitcoin uses?

He also led the effort to establish the SOA Consortium in January 2007, leading to the launch of the Business Ecology Initiative (BEI) in 2009. The Initiative focuses on the management imperative to make business more responsive, effective, sustainable and secure in a complex, networked world, through practice areas including Business Design, Business Process Excellence, Intelligent Business, Sustainable Business and Secure Business. In addition, Dr. Soley is the Executive Director of the Cloud Standards Customer Council, helping end-users transition to cloud computing and direct requirements and priorities for cloud standards throughout the industry. Dom to give keynote at innoVEX.

About innoVEX: COMPUTEX TAIPEI, the largest B2B ICT tradeshow in Asia, established a new exhibit area in 2016 called InnoVEX, creating a platform specifically for tech startups to network with global buyers, investors, and manufacturers. This exhibit nearly attracted over 10,000 visitors at its first show. Taiwan's technology innovations, adding to over a 1,000 ICT manufacturers and 40,000 overseas buyers at COMPUTEX, made InnoVEX a one-of-a- kind startup event.

205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are there any other DAG-based competitors to IOTA/NEO? on: May 24, 2018, 12:56:20 PM
Have you heard about Byteball? Its also based on DAG, already have a working product, it has smart-contract platform with a lot of features. You can send coin via email, already listed on major exchange like Bittrex, and other small exchange like Cryptopia and others. I don't know why its less popular then other DAG crypto like NEO/IOTA. Byteball absolutely is a good investment. Others coin like NANO (formerly Raiblock) is also DAG, though it seems like it is just "hype" coin.

It charges fees, so industries that want 0 fee tx, like the IOT market, haven't adopted it.

NEO charges fees too, but I think it is closer to ETH in its design--AFAIK it's not a DAG.

Wow! This is great news for IOTA. There is no other coin that has the great valuable and amount of partnerships IOTA has. Truly amazing!
The news is good, but unfortunately due to the current situation it did not affect the price.

The top 100 look pretty red--not much you can do about that. The UN won't create demand until they implement IOTA in the field.

IOT is perfect. There have been few projects that can do this in a healthy way. Since IOTA transferred it to the blockchain, the best is for now, but there are many more powerful projects on the subject.
Yes, indeed, iota has enough competitors, there are a couple of coins that are not inferior to IOTA in their technological part, everything depends on marketing.

No there's not. Most of the coins claiming suitability for IOT don't even have their networks up, let alone tested in the real world (they're literally ERC20 tokens), meanwhile IOTA is doing presentations at a UN symposium.

Iota has good project but in the real world it doesn't work.
I lose 1127 iota, at current price 0.26BTC by hacker that exploited the tangle.
Wasn't my fault, i didn't expose my seed, i just stored my coins at tangle and someone stole it.

Tangle is totally unsecure, don't trust it.

You're full of shit. The network has never been hacked. The security on a seed is higher than Bitcoin, so unless you reused an address or created a seed with low entropy, your IOTA are fine. My guess is you didn't reattach your address after a snapshot and didn't bother to troubleshoot.

What's your address?

I didn't said that network has hacked, but exploited.
My seed was ok, but some problem with reattach, i did dozen times and didn't work, some one did that wasnt't me and stole my funds from 1 address not from entire balance from seed:
https://forum.helloiota.com/Topic1814.aspx

From the linked thread, and what you were told by those trying to help you, you reused an address and revealed part of your address to the world--that's not an exploit, that's someone using brute force after you revealed part of your seed. The same thing that keeps IOTA quantum resistant is why you don't reuse adddresses, sorry you had to learn that the hard way, but it's not a network insecurity--and that's the way you were trying to frame it. If you don't understand the technology, you shouldn't be using it--it's not a BTC clone and you can't assume it works the same. Luckily the newer wallets won't allow you to make this mistake, but the early wallet was released as barebones and was explained as such to the community who demanded after the devs weren't going to release one at all. TBH, I wish they had only released a CLI, as Monero did early on, so noobs wouldn't even be able to use it and create this type of negative feedback based on their false assumptions about BETA technology.

Dyrell Chapman added to IOTA Foundation: https://blog.iota.org/welcome-dyrell-chapman-to-the-iota-foundation-7db912fa4a7a

Dyrell Chapman is an Architectural Technologist and technology enthusiast currently working as the Chief Enterprise Architect at Geometric Energy Corporation. As a co-founder of the company he has been involved in the research and development of numerous projects. He graduated from his program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, and has been working at Geometric energy since its inception in June 2015. His primary focus at GEC is prototype development, technical documentation and feasibility analysis for solar and vibrational energy harvesting.

While attending his program at SAIT he became fluent in drafting and BIM analysis, which he translated into technical analysis tools for prototype development and iterative design testing. In his youth he was an enthusiastic learner of basic programming languages, skills he used to aid in the development of an in house solar ray tracing program as well as an accurate solar tracking device for use with LCPV arrays. Recently his attention has become fixated on distributed ledger technology, IoT hardware design, and how to integrate the two fields with one another.

100 dollars is not much, unfortunately. I would advise $ 100 to buy some ripple, and maybe even the Ethereum. But buy them in the long run. To six months, and possibly cat $ 100 turned into a large amount.

Or use that $100 to buy a better bot.
