Here we go again...

We always check the price, thats what we do

A job is a job

It's a tough one, but someone's got to do it...

What if we are experiencing the "Observer Effect" in which observing actually influences the outcome?

*Edit (checks price)

This is known as "Satoshi's Badger". He's neither dead, nor alive, and will stick a rusty pipe up your arse when you least expect it.

OK, so I wake up to take a piss, check price, $44,150.

Go back to bed, I'm woken up after a couple of hours by a really nice dream, check price, $43,650.

I can't even remember what the dream was about actually...

This waiting is worse than being a virgin Buddhist monk in Nepal.

I'm done. Back to bed. Philip is right. I'm going all DOGE.  Angry

"When you're buying this much, it could take 3 or 4 days. It takes a day to accumulate 50 million dollars worth of Bitcoin. If you're buying it every 5 seconds, 24 hours a day, it takes you a day. Every 5 seconds. So, while I'm doing that, I've a lot of time to stare at the screen and think about it, and, you know what I'm thinking while I'm actually buying every 5 seconds, for 4 days in a row? I'm thinking, who are these people that are selling this to me? And I feel sorry for them. What are you going to buy with the cash that I'm giving you, that's better than what you're selling to me? I hope that they're getting married with the money, or they're buying a yacht, or a jet, or something that they really love, because if they're trading it in order to buy another asset, I just pity them."

I like the Green Wallet, and thanks for letting us know they are working on Lightning.  Green allows RBF and Coin Control.

With the extremely high fees, the time is coming when I need to learn how to use Lightning.

Another vote for Green, I see. Good to know. Will keep an eye on it re. LN integration.

Yes, the on-chain fee size is becoming an issue for small payments. But then again, buying coffee on-chain is like using a chainsaw to cut butter. So yeah, 2nd-layer BTC networks are important, and will be more so in the future. I know (have been reading here and there, and also in WO) that LN has its problems, but I hope they get ironed out and we end up with a robust 2nd-layer network, with the uptime and reliability of on-chain transactions, that's going to be standardized and adopted worldwide as a payment method. Michael Saylor is actively promoting this IIRC, as is Jack Dorsey and other big players out there. And no, LTC won't cut it, as it is just a matter of time (i.e., network load) before it clogs up too. The solution must be by design, not by low utilization.

I use Phoenix wallet on my phone for lightning.
It is a custodial wallet and pretty straightforward to use to.
I tried lightning on Green wallet (I have a Blockstream Jade) but found it to be a bit cumbersome. It is still in the experimental stage so stands to reason I guess. I am sure it will be my goto wallet for everything btc related once they iron out the bugs.

It seems to me that LN is not sufficiently mature yet, certainly not to the point of even getting close to on-chain BTC in terms of simplicity and robustness. Maybe it promised more that it could deliver, at least that's how it feels to a LN noob like me. But I do hope we get there in the end. The sound of pressing "Pay" and the transaction confirming in milliseconds is so appealing, especially right after having to wait a full day and eventually using an accelerator to have it confirm on-chain.

But then again, try to do that with real gold... BTC does it infinitely better, even on-chain. So we go back to Andreas Antonopoulos's "cat videos" principle. And rightly so.

We'll get there once demand demands it.

Guys, quick Q:

What would you recommend as the best (polished, easy/intuitive UI, reliable) Lightning wallet? It should be able to run on either Android, or Windows (ideally on both, with synching between them).

Made a small payment on-chain y'day, with low fees, and it's still pending... Angry

I hope you can handle it on your PC so you can use "Electrum" is the best (I hope available PC and Phone).

But you can use only a phone and then "trustwallet" for more future and multi-currency.

it is just personal opinion, (right now fee is high all wallet).  Huh

You can try "BTC Transaction Accelerator". right now "Remaining hourly FREE transactions have vanished" you can try next hour it's workable.

Edite.

I didn't know Electrum can do Lightning... But I'm a total noob when it comes to Lightning...

Will look into it, thanks.

BTW, I've just used your ViaBTC Transaction Accelerator link, and it worked! I had to wait for the counter to reset to 100 free TXIDs, exactly on the hour. Nice service, bookmarked.

Thanks for that too. Merited.

Ugh.  Electrum CAN do lightning.  But do not start there.  It's complicated and kludgey (Still such a great on chain wallet).

Non Custodial: Breez
Custodial: Wallet of Satoshi
Coming soon: Green

I mention WoS just because it is the drop dead easiest, best working wallet available.  But custodial wallets run an ever increasing risk of getting frozen by regulators.

I feel like Breez works the best for the non-custodial wallets, but it requires a little patience up front.

Green should get interesting as they are a very easy to use wallet and are JUST rolling out lightning.

Thanks for the info, will look into the wallets you're suggesting. I know Electrum is extremely popular, but, surprising as it sounds, I never had to use it.

Obviously, I prefer a non-custodial wallet, but I could accept a custodial one, as long as the ease of use and overall user experience justifies it. After all, LN is meant for small payments, so the risk is not so big.

I'm not in a hurry, so Green may be a good choice. Will wait.

The main thing I look for is a well-designed, easy, friendly UI, reliability, and, ideally, non-custodial. I intend to use it for petty cash transactions (under $1000).

or maybe go with a BTC only one.

(you have to choose between custodial and non-custodial lightning wallets)

I heard for the latter muun, eclair or breez might be good. I have muun installed but never used it.
Looking at Muun now. Looks nice, minimalistic, easy interface, on-/off-chain, non-custodial. Ticks all the boxes. Will check it out, thanks.

I use Breez and Phoenix, but only on the phone, and because they are mostly considered as self-custodial solutions.

I rejected Muun because it had a lot of issues regarding not really being a lighting wallet and requiring too many on-chain interfaces.. So I am not a technical person either, but there was a period in which Muun was non-functional due to how it was processing lighting transactions in non-lighting kinds of ways.

I also had an issue with Breez recently in which my channel was forced closed.  I discuss that here, and I have still not refunded my breez wallet.

About a year and a half ago, I had done some posts on the topic of my exploring of lightning network wallets, and I cannot find those posts, but I recall that I had referenced this website comparing lightning network wallets

Thanks Jay, I will look into the apps you mention. It's when you want to make a small payment, that you appreciate the importance of LN (or whatever similar comes next). Paying $30 in fees for a $100 transaction is just ridiculous...

Finally, Antisthenes dies with this post, so you liars might rejoice again.
I’m done quoting your lies and exposing your evil ways, as this - much like everything - has come to an end.
I will change my password to a random XX extra long digit one, and will never ever log in again, so in any future event that this might happen, well, it’s just not me.
Of course, retrieving and changing the password from the email associated remains an option for now, until it is not.

Not much I want to elaborate really, my post history speaks for itself.
All I can say is that this journey - would not have been possible without your pure - and intentional - evil wickedness.
I used to be a man who thought that we make our own destiny and our fate, but now I’ve become a man of faith and the unchanging eternal fate, so I must thank you for that.

@eXPHorizon, brother, special thanks to you.
You are wasting your valuable time with these cunts, much like I wasted mine, but enough is enough.
Your pointers were the ones that put me straight on my path, so I thought you should know that.
I’m certain that our paths will meet again - in the not so distant future - besides, I guess you know how to get hold of me - and you will always be welcome.

I could not say goodbye without a last song.
This one is a Greek song, purely for a male audience, which I urge any human listening to it, to dig deep into the simple lyrics - as every single word is important and of great value - even if you don’t like the style or genre:

Bρέχει Φωτιά Στην Στράτα Moυ - Στράτoς Διoνυσίoυ

Quote
Fire is raining down on my path,
This fire that has burned me,
For my poor youth,
nobody will shed any tears.

Life - life ends here,
My candle is going out,
And the soul, the soul like a swallow,
Departs from my lips.

Bitter waves over my bow,
And the sails lying in shreds,
Not even your brother - my boy,
Did not care for you.

Life - life ends here,
My candle is going out,
And the soul, the soul like a swallow,
Departs from my lips.

Jesus said, "The kingdom of the father is like a certain man who wanted to kill a powerful man.
In his own house he drew his sword and stuck it into the wall in order to find out whether his hand could carry through.
Then he slew the powerful man."

Since you're leaving us, I want to clarify this, just for the record: you mentioned in a previous post, that you took my "broken AI bot spewing incoherent crap" as referring to you. It wasn't, just like OOM's post wasn't.

You didn't have to lock yourself out in order to stop posting. Locking yourself out as a way to resist the urge to post is a sign of weakness. "Can't" is weakness, "won't" is strength.

RIP, Antisthenes, if you are, indeed, dead. ∞

Faith is not all bad.
It's where you put it that counts.
Faith in code, not god!

Bitcoin going up,
And then down, and then sideways...
Crystal Ball told me!

A piece of paper.
Two alphanumeric strings.
No firmware updates!

ETF or not,
Expect a 6-digit price,
In under a year!

Disney going woke...
I used to read Mickey Mouse.
They raped my childhood!

Banks are here to stay.
Bitcoin is here to stay, too.
Equilibrium!

Nice trick there, Philip!
Thanks for educating us,
On mining secrets.

This is to reserve my cards #1 and #7:

Payment will soon follow.

Also, a correction to your posts above: please change my name code from HAT.ALCOHOLDL.x to HAT.ALCOHODL.x (remove the extra 'L'). Fortunately, it is spelled correctly on the cards.

Well, Ledger has shit the bed yet again

https://twitter.com/Ledger/status/1735370531224834430

Yet another reason not to dabble in shitcoins but man it has been an embarrassing year for the Ledger team. Couple all that with their software being packed with analytics tracking and they're a big NO for me now

No-one ever swapped the firmware on my paper wallet.

Attack surfaces:

1. Flood (that one we had and more than once)
2. Nosy gf/wife that likes to "tidy" things up...can't happen Smiley
3. Fire
4. Something falling on the house, like a tree (impossible, right?), causing rain to wash away or soak the paper.
6. Forgetting where you put it..or if BIP 38, forgetting the password.

That said, I might have agreed a bit more if you delineated how you are circumventing the above...yes, it is doable, but require some trust in those who would hold potential copies, maybe.

Extremely important: having an additional passphrase (BIP 38)!

If your paper wallet isn't passphrase-protected, the entire contents of the wallet are up for grabs by anyone who finds it. It's like compressing all your coins into a piece of paper, open for anyone to steal. Very dangerous (spouses, siblings, Bitcoin ATM shop staff, OTC contacts, don't always have the best intentions...).

I cannot remember your exact story in terms of your bitcoin entry date, AlcoHoDL.. but I was thinking that maybe you were only a couple of years after me...

[...]

August 2015 was my first transaction. Paid $120, got 0.5 BTC, left it in my phone, forgot about it. 3 months later it had become $200. I remember the market cap then was single-digit billions, maybe $5B (currently $800B -- 160x). I remember I was checking CoinMarketCap. Not even registered to BitcoinTalk. All purchases done via Bitcoin ATMs. No exchanges.

Great times...
