I am still wondering, aside from Segwit why does core does not want a block size increase, when they are capable of executing it better.
Because, as you'll read time and time again if you haven't been listening - segwit IS a block size increase of up to 4MB! Increasing the chain block size to 2MB would make it an 8MB increase in size. Additionally, increasing the chain block size to 2MB in its current form opens up the network to a DDoS vector through a quadratic scaling issue in transactions which means an extra large transaction can be crafted that holds up even fast nodes for over a minute and a half, and uses massive amounts of ram during the process. This would render slower nodes unresponsive for many minutes and possibly run out of ram and crash. Also note that BU had an out-of-memory bug even WITHOUT bigger blocks, and one of BU's proposed solutions to DoS transaction blocks is parallel validation of blocks -> which means even MORE ram usage and virtually guaranteeing out of memory crashes. |

Hate to just repeat myself, but I haven't received any replies in two weeks. I can't get cgminer to compile (see ten posts up for build log). Any advice?
Looks like a toolchain related phenomenon. Your specific compile environment is adding --as-needed to the linker and your specific version of libncurses seems to require libtinfo when that option is used yet it isn't including it, or it is including it in the wrong order. Are you adding LDFLAGS at all? |

While I like to encourage people to try mining solo so they can mine on my pool, I think you need to have your eyes opened to what you're trying to do. 10 S9s is about 140TH which has a 1 in 185 chance of solving a block per day at current difficulty, and difficulty will continue to slowly rise. That doesn't mean that after 185 days you'll magically find a block as that's not how mining works. You could find one on the first day and a few over the course of a year, or you might not find one in years. If that's the sort of gamble you're happy to take then that's fine, but there's no guarantees at all with solo mining. |

Different workers have the same value "bestshare" and "bestever".
This is normal?

No? That's not the behaviour I see nor how I designed it. The behaviour is much the same. The only thing different is that all users are loaded at restart now so some users may have stale results from previous blocks if they've been idle for a long time across restarts, but that will never happen again as I'm trying to maintain the state permanently now. I was surprised myself to find 15000 different users loaded up with the new code. Best share is best share this block, best ever is best ever share found. It's per worker, and overall for the user. EDIT: After PM discussions it's apparent there is an issue with the workers all showing the same best shares. It seems to only have happened on the reload with new worker best shares working correctly and I'll investigate before the pool is restarted again - though I don't foresee another restart any time soon. Luckily it's only cosmetic and won't affect our block finding, so we just need to find a block to reset all the best shares. |

There's not much block action happening so I figure I should update solo to include the compatible changes from ckpool.org which means there'll be some restarts in the near future.
Restarts complete, sorry about any downtime you may have experienced. Pool stat page now shows diff% Userstats are now formatted for easier reading. User and workers now show lastshare time instead of last update. Per worker stats are now deprecated, please monitor workers from within the users page. Workers idle for a week will eventually disappear from a user's worker list. An interesting statistic I discovered on this restart is that there have been 15073 different usernames to date using this service, 546 on de. Obviously some people have used multiple addresses so the total number of different users will be much less than this. |

Pretty simple really. "hashrate1m" shows you average hashrate over the last minute "hashrate5m" ... last 5 minutes "hashrate1hr" ... hour "hashrate1d": ... day "hashrate7d": ... week "lastshare": Time the worker last submitted a share in unix seconds "shares": Total shares submitted "bestshare": Best diff share submitted this block "bestever": Best share ever submitted for the life of the worker

Seems like SegWit support is growing since the exposure of the BitMain backdoor. Now at over 42% since the last 100 blocks. No, you're still making the same mistake others have been making. The same pools are mining segwit as previously, all you're looking at is day to day variance. Neither BU nor segwit have budged in overall (hashrate) support for weeks. |

I've added a simple modification to the current cgminer git which is designed to decode the coinbase transactions of a pool for users to confirm where they're mining to. This was done with this pool and ckpool.org in mind for users to be able to confirm what coinbase transactions will be. To use it, one must have a local bitcoind and use their normal login credentials. For example to check mining to 15qSxP1SQcUX3o4nhkfdbgyoWEFMomJ4rZ: ./cgminer -o http://localhost:8332 -u user -p pass -o solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 15qSxP1SQcUX3o4nhkfdbgyoWEFMomJ4rZ --decode will produce the following output: Pool stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333:

I remember seeing a username similar to that but you had double pasted so it was double the length it was supposed to be. Check the miner IP address so I can re-enable it and you can try again. |

Guiminer only mines CPU and GPU on the old mining protocol. CPUs and GPUs cannot meaningfully mine bitcoin today and the old mining protocol is no longer used either. So you cannot mine with either the hardware or the software you're using.

Its not a massive percentage just more than i used to get before switching. But if there are a few restarts then that would explain it.
A number of short restarts coming up shortly for some updates.
All the restarts are complete. There are now a number of changes to both appearance and behaviour... Indeed there were 4 restarts in total for progressive updates. That would lead to far more rejects than usual so I wouldn't judge based on that. No restarts are now planned in the near future. |

@ck This is slightly off topic, but I figured here was as good of a place as any... I use CKProxy for all of my alt stuff, so I'm using it for here too (because it's good and I'm lazy). If/when my rigs find a block, does the console for CKProxy show like [date time] Possible block solve diff 1234567890 !

In other words, does CKProxy ever show accepted info or is it just that my alt pool software is as shitty as most alts are? I've never used it and found a block in a real pool. Ckproxy can't submit the block locally without the transaction information required to submit the block and stratum does not give that information so you will not see block accepted at any time from a normal ckproxy unless you're mining blocks without any transactions. |
