does this pool offer ver diff for us really slow miners.. think usb miners Smiley
Yes, if you leave them running they will eventually go down, potentially as low as diff 1. Alternatively it supports the --suggest-diff command line option in cgminer.

Unfortunately electricity pricing down here in Melbourne makes it uneconomical to mine from home and we moved out of the office where we had free power. Hopefully I'll be back online in the early new year when I get access to another location with included power.
Oh right, I live in the same place so I understand.

Congrats on the block.

Nice surprise receiving a payout - I wasn't expecting any because I stopped mining so long ago, but keep forgetting that the low hashrate means 5ND is quite long too!
Thanks.

See your mistake was to not continue mining here Wink
1185  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: December 15, 2017, 01:22:16 PM
My rigs mine here when they are not being rented and I should have a total of 5.6 PH pointed at this pool by the end of this year!

I also think -ck should start charging a fee because it doesn't seem right for him to not get anything.
That's great! That's a nice base hashrate for you and the pool and you never know it might finally be enough to attract others here.

Thanks but I won't be charging a fee any time soon. Not unless we stop being a tiny pool.
1186  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BLOCK PARTY] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: December 15, 2017, 07:42:10 AM

Quick Question CK,

I see I'm still the same place in the payouts… So nothing resets after we find a block?

It seems that if we get lucky and find like 45 blocks a month… This pool would be the most profitable pool that I have seen including Kano' - which one of my miners is in.

That's correct. There's no resetting with splns or pplns if you're above the minimum threshold. However if you're below threshold you might make it into the payout queue after a block. Also please don't post referral links.

Woohoo \o/ Real block party now. Lucky block at 30% diff making us now ahead overall. Another one thanks to wetsuit, our biggest miner by far.

We had around 10 for first few weeks but it was all rental hoping for a lucky first block whilst reward was still effectively proportional.
1190  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [FREE] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: December 12, 2017, 09:18:18 PM
I had a best share at over 10 billion, was the highest I ever had.. and it was after I reduced my S9 frequency to 550, which I thought was weird..

So when that happened I wasn't sure if that share raised my Herp more than usual.. Wasn't sure if the higher share was better for my herp than a slightly higher hash rate..
And that's called sheer coincidence. Luck is luck. Altering settings doesn't change luck. Increasing your hashrate increases your chances of a high share; end of story.
1191  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [FREE] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool on: December 12, 2017, 08:20:10 PM
@CK,

Quick two questions...

1.) Does a higher bestshare increase Herp faster? I see you wrote that we get rewarded for higher shares.. but was that just for smaller miners? or if my machine gets a share in the billions vs. millions - does it increase my herp faster?

2.) If I rent hashrate, is it better to get one rig at somewhere around 1 PH/S - 500 TH/S or Fifty 10 TH/S Miners?
I thought it would be better to get more smaller ones and split them up.. but the bigger machines get larger bestshares.. so if bestshare helps increase herp, than multiple rentals would be better than just one larger rental?

BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK! I can feel it coming baby! Lets GO GO GO!

- Mikey
1. Yes but on average it will smooth out if you have a high hashrate so in practice, no. It only makes it possible to get a bit more if you're a tiny miner.
2. It makes zero difference. The bigger machines do NOT get larger bestshares; that's just your perception. Only overall hashrate matters. Remember that 1PH "rigs" are actually just hundreds of the same smaller rigs.

Basically, there is no way to "game" the system to get better rewards. Just get the most hashrate you can afford at the cheapest price.

Pools closer to where your miners are located will lead to less rejected shares, less wasted work, and lower chance of orphaned blocks.

Hmmm... maybe I should first get my money back from what I spent on these miners, then start to “gamble” on solo pools? What would you do?
The solo pool is my pool, so what do you think I'd like you to do? Then again if you don't want to mine solo I'd also tell you to mine at my other pool, cpool.org .
1196  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 243 blocks solved! on: December 10, 2017, 02:58:26 AM
I have 10 antminer S9’s (They hit like 150Th/s). Should I mine at a solo pool or regular pools?
Only you can answer that. Do you want a small steady income that may or may not even pay off how much you spent on your antminers and electricity or do you want to throw everything into a gamble that you earn far far more by solving a block or nothing at all if you don't.

It's rare for a new member to become staff. Congratulations.
I can see that you guys are doing a lot of work in this section, it's starting to look much better and cleaner.
Thanks. In fact there was always a lot of work going into this section. The thing is I rarely left a redirection notice when I moved topics all over the place so it was completely transparent to the forum members. The reason I didn't leave them is they pollute the page with nothing but redirection notices since there are far more redirected threads than legit forum topics. I only left redirection notices if the thread I was moving already had traction with a number of other people posting on them. Even then, after a few weeks I would go and delete the redirection notices too.

I'm hoping someone has already encountered this and has a quick answer.  Otherwise I'll do some digging this weekend.  I have set up the ckpool on just a clean local server.  If I'm reading the error correctly, it's the URL in the ckpool.conf file that's throwing the error when trying to bind to stratum port.  I also haven't seen any info on increasing the rcvbufsiz.  TIA.

Assuming you have the correct IP address and you're not trying to bind to a privileged port, usually that means something else is bound to the port already. The rcvbufsiz message tells you what you need to change in your linux config (sysctl.conf). If you're only going to be using ckpool locally it is not needed.
1199  Other / Meta / Re: Welcome frodocooper as new moderator to mining on: December 08, 2017, 07:23:06 PM
Welcome. It never occurred to me that a crazy high BTC price would alter the dynamics of forum moderation, but it obviously has.
And it's not just people new to mining, the number of scams, trojans, referral spammers and trolls goes up too.

Unlike other forum sections which do NOT moderate scams, I generally nuke anyone who posts obvious trojans and links to scam sites since I feel qualified to make that judgement here. The "legit" mining companies are big enough scams already, we don't need overt scammers in addition.
1200  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: NEW software for your miners on: December 07, 2017, 08:21:44 PM
This doesn't look like "software" for miners but a service... and unlikely to be anything but a scam but I'll let users decide for themselves.
