2001  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos (operator of Bitcointalk and Bitcoin subreddit) is censoring Bitcoin XT on: August 16, 2015, 10:27:24 AM
found this and thought it was funny:

You made my day !
2002  Other / Meta / Re: Abuse or not? on: August 16, 2015, 08:54:03 AM
I think leave a negative trust because an account was sold is an abuse, because it is not against the forum rules (but it is discouraged). A neutral trust would be more appropriate.

Isn't that only for reporting posts though? I don't see a button on the user's profile to report the member as a whole as an imposter.

guitarplinker you are right, how can you report an user that have not posted any post .... it would be really impossible  Grin.
2005  Other / Meta / Re: the difference between the Bitcoin-XT client and Bitcoin-XT network/currency on: August 15, 2015, 07:09:42 PM
you can't bait and switch me with xt.  try and trick me to use a client because you are currently using my blockchain then switch to your own blockchain and expect to keep me using the client.  anything that is scheduled to become an altcoin in the future is already an altcoin.  xt is not bitcoin.

using your logic then that means

the current bitcoin (core) is an altcoin as it is vastly different than the original bitcoin satoshi released in 2009.

 Tongue

Logic fail. LOL!

Therefore Bitcoin core is not Bitcoin right?  Grin Grin Grin

logical fallacy for him,  BitcoinXT is only another client with some more thing that Bitcoin Core doesn't have. Actually it uses the same network, and above all the same coin.

Yes of course.
2007  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: August 15, 2015, 05:04:34 PM
Guys. The giveaway is going to happen. Is your life really that bad that you depend on having 0.01 BTC right now? Just have some patience.

Yeah it actually takes a long time to check everything. So many abusers. I almost had to check everybody's latest posts to make sure they are not accounts just for giveaways .

That part is really funny when there is condition you must have over 100 activity than you are planning to give newbie accounts there Cheesy

1) Have over 100 activity on Bitcointalk

No , you don't understand. There are loads of accounts made just to claim giveaways and spam in signature campaigns. There are Hero member accounts that are pumped up to that rank just so they can abuse giveaways and sig campaigns. So i had to check so many people's latest posts to make sure they are actually members of this community and not just posting in giveaways.

I think even some Staff members had 10+ accounts that are full member or above.

Primedice is doing everything to fight off abusers but its so damn hard. People are using everything to get some small gain and ruin it for everybody else. Primedice would had so much more giveaways if we did not get disappointed every time with how many people try to abuse.

Don't fall in the trap, you are doing a great job  and I think we can wait a little more (I am talking about the giveaway).

2009  Other / Meta / Re: Restricting lending section for newbies? on: August 15, 2015, 03:58:44 PM
In fact i think the newbie status is different. I mean what does it mean? That this user is not really a member of this community yet. He only came freshly in and he has nothing better to do to ask for a loan? Wheres the legit use case? This is no loan forum, this is a bitcoin forum. So what should we think of users that register only to ask for a loan? I freshly found this forum and i thought i now need a loan?

Once they are a more established member, lets say a jr. member, then it would make sense that they might need a loan that is bitcoin related. But freshly registering and asking for a loan? No, i don't see this happening for a legit reason.

Of course an established member might want a loan and not revealing his main account, but surely he would not have a problem to be active with that new account a bit.

Restricting would simply make it more work for scammers. And probably it would not be worth it anymore then.

It will not work... because a 'newbie' can surely wait to be a Jr. member and after that ask a loan. It is only a question of time , sooner or later he will try to scam the community.
2010  Other / Meta / Re: Questions about using ref-links on forum on: August 15, 2015, 12:44:52 PM
I had one question too, is this thread allowed?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1153129.0;topicseen

The thread was deleted so I think it was not allowed (just my personal opinion).
2011  Other / Meta / Re: Restricting lending section for newbies? on: August 15, 2015, 12:43:46 PM
Wouldn't make it sense to restrict the lending section that way that only persons of a certain level can open a thread there? It looks to me like the amount of threads opened by 2 post newbies are enourmous. It seems to be like one or more persons have made a business out of it to try and spam the forum with requests. And i only can assume that it works when they do it all the time.

Restricting the creation of threads to members with a certain activity might be a good idea.

Newbie jail only for lending section? It will not work...

2014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I ran Bitcoin Core for >3 years, and I turned it off today on: August 14, 2015, 03:19:28 PM
At the moment bitcoinXT is not an altcoin, it uses the same network and coin of bitcoin core, electrum, multibit, greenAddress, etc...  it is only another bitcoin client (that support bigger sized blocks).

2017  Other / Meta / Re: the difference between the Bitcoin-XT client and Bitcoin-XT network/currency on: August 14, 2015, 01:37:52 PM

This is because the staff consider the bitcoin-XT currency to be an altcoin
They are correct. Bitcoin XT is not altcoin yet, but will be when hardfork of bitcoin will inevitably occur as a result of larger block size accepted in future!

Exactly. So why censor it now? beucase I can go and download the Bitcoin-Xt client and use it with Bitcoin Core clients, so right now it obviously isn't an altcoin, its a usable Bitcoin client just like any other.

It seems that here the problem is another one, the 'money'.
2018  Other / Meta / Re: the difference between the Bitcoin-XT client and Bitcoin-XT network/currency on: August 14, 2015, 01:33:45 PM
XT could possibly change the rules of the protocol without consensus and at the whim of the devs of XT. Bitcoin core does not allow this and will follow strict rules regarding what blocks will be accepted and which ones will not be.

bitcoinXT can surely change the things, but here the problem is that there is a division of the bitcoin devolopers ... and each of one should inform himself and choose bitcoin Core or bitcoinXT. The censorship is never a good thing.
2019  Other / Meta / Re: the difference between the Bitcoin-XT client and Bitcoin-XT network/currency on: August 14, 2015, 01:27:46 PM
So people on here and on reddit have been complaining about censorship of bitcoin-XT topics.

This is because the staff consider the bitcoin-XT currency to be an altcoin, which I agree with. Altcoin topics must go in the altcoin section on bitcointalk and I think they are trashed on /r/bitcoin. Because the Bitcoin-XT currency is an altcoin, if the staff were to allow bitcoin-XT in the other sections but not dogecoin or litecoin and the other altcoins, then that would really be censorship.

However I'd like to point out that bitcoin-XT currently uses the same network/currency as every other Bitcoin client right now. And while the developers of this client do have plans to switch to a new network/currency with a trigger in the code, at present bitcoin-XT is a Bitcoin client and not an altcoin client.

Therefore because bitcoin-XT is currently a Bitcoin client, shouldn't discussion of the client itself be allowed in the main sections?

if another Bitcoin client such as Electrum announced plans to drop support for Bitcoin in favor of Litecoin sometime in the future, would the staff immediately ban discussion of this client in the main sections, or would they allow it until it actually transitions to another currency?

This is why I think the guys who delisted bitcoin-XT from bitcoin.org were wrong in doing that, as it is currently a Bitcoin client. Any Bitcoin client could change to another currency if they wanted, just because the developers of this one plan to do that in the future doesn't make it an altcoin client right now, when it changes it will be an altcoin client.

Wait, if bitcoinXT is using the same network & currency than it is not (theoretically) an altcoin but like you said only another 'valid' client and this form of censorship is not really good.

I never expected a comportment like this by theymos and all the staff.
