2021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Reality Of The 2015 Bitcoin Price Swings! on: January 05, 2015, 11:30:56 AM
Nice one. I'm definitely holding onto my bitcoin for sure and I agree it's basically the fear factor that is pushing the price further down with some panic selling and especially made worse with the latest fiasco with bitstamp. Hopefully we ought to see price recovery pretty soon.
2022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am the poorest early adopter in the world on: January 05, 2015, 11:21:55 AM
If the price falls further you will get your chance for redemption for your missed golden opportunity. Probably not buying at $10 per pop but considering current price at about 270, it's still considerably cheap
2023  Economy / Economics / Re: Some Bitcoin Exchanges Might Die in 2015 on: January 05, 2015, 11:18:49 AM
Good for their business but not for us and bitcoin as a whole. Volatility is the one that is putting off people and legitimate business establishment to widely accept bitcoin especially those that operate on narrow profit margin. Instead they attract speculators and punters who basically don't care what is going to happen to bitcoin except on how to fill their pocket with easy money.

Also, I don't understand how exchangers can go bust. The service alone on each and every trade will net them money. What is that for them to lose? It's either making "more" money or "not enough" money. Sigh....
2024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is going viral on: January 05, 2015, 11:09:42 AM
If only the viral word translate into adoption. The fact is that although bitcoin search volume can be high but most people stop at the stage of just checking what it is all about and not further than that. And sometimes the search relates to keyword that portrays bitcoin in a negative way like getting hack, price volatility, manipulation,
2025  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitstamp issues statement and temporarily suspends service on: January 05, 2015, 10:59:43 AM
Kinda of news that will make people lose trust in bitcoin security and its viability as a safe currency as a whole. When new or potential investor read this, they will have doubt about putting their money into bitcoin. Bad news indeed... I wonder amount of btc that has been compromised.  Sad
2026  Economy / Economics / Re: there is always money moving on: January 04, 2015, 01:42:13 PM
Is there something special for 66.96 or 66.97 BTC? Most of these transactions goes around 66.96 BTC, why?

It could be the same person transferring the amount from one of his main address to other addresses of his own where he splits the amount equally. I have seen the same thing being done to one of the top bitcoin address. Not sure what is the motive though. It's just some same ol people moving the stash around.
2027  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc after weekends on: January 04, 2015, 12:59:29 PM
Which brings me to the question on why somebody or some big entity decides to sell on weekends instead of doing it on a normal working day.
2028  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price is dropping and Difficulty is increasing !!! on: January 04, 2015, 12:51:12 PM
Maybe too early to tell or it is at a stage whereby miners are still holding on. It is possible that despite their thin razor profit margin, they will still put their hardware into good use. Or either way, most miners are located in countries where electricity is cheap and thus they could still maintain profitability even at current price.
2029  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holy sh!t the price isnt rebounding but going lower now!! on: January 04, 2015, 10:24:49 AM
Well it was 275 earlier today and when I checked a moment ago it has gone back up to 287, in just a matter of about 8 hours period. At least this indicates there are still people buying the coin and not the complete dump scenario everyone thought it was happening.

Anyway, it's too early to tell what would be the next direction from here. Either it will move up again and recover above 300 or just continue to slide. Let's just keep the fingers crossed.
2030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too high transaction fees? on: January 04, 2015, 10:16:13 AM
Faucet is basically meant for somebody interested in bitcoin to try it out the feature and functionality. No way was it meant for someone to earn decent amount considering the amount of work/hours need to put in versus the resulting payoff. If you need to know more about transaction fee, the link should tells you everything you will need to know. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees
2031  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice wanted: Using One Address on: January 04, 2015, 10:05:19 AM
If you have nothing to hide and if this is just part of your business principle for transparency, then there is nothing wrong to list down your public address. For me, that is not an issue at all and in fact, I do share my address with people I know and don't know and even post it publicly in the forum here. If you compare to credit card and other payment services, those are even worse.
2032  Economy / Economics / Re: Price drop : bitcoinners happy ? on: January 04, 2015, 09:58:56 AM
No way a miner could be happy. He needs to take care of fixed cost like electricity and hardware depreciation factor or else no point for the guy to continue mining. On another note, if we look at it positively...

As price drops, I hope it will reach the state of equilibrium of neither being overpriced or undervalued, this will deter speculators from causing price volatility
Give a chance for newbies who were previously hesitant about bitcoin, a chance to grab some stash of bitcoin or in other words, helps coin distribution

2033  Economy / Speculation / Re: Have any of the top Wallets liquidated their coin on: January 04, 2015, 09:45:47 AM
It's ironic that you mentioned that. Last I saw about an hour ago seems to indicate that everything is intact with the funds still staying put in the account.
2034  Economy / Speculation / Re: hold or dump? on: January 04, 2015, 09:38:54 AM
Not sure how to put it into words but just ponder for a moment....If you hold on to it right now what else do you have to lose? If you sell out now, basically you have confirmed your fate. Either way, you are just mitigating the losses. Even if the price goes practically to zero which I believe is not possible as long as there is demand, the risk you are taking is probably worth it.
2035  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Request: Suggestions on Where To Put $1000 on: January 04, 2015, 07:04:02 AM
Yup same for me here. I would rather buy considering you can get it cheap right now with the drop. However, if your aim is purely for fun or to learn or experience the mining process, then go for miners. If cost is your concern, then it's more economical to just buy it.
2036  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LocalBitCoins Using Email on: January 04, 2015, 06:51:55 AM
I acquired my bitcoin once using localbitcoin by setting up an appointment to meet up with the seller so that we can conclude sales and purchase on the spot. Quite a nice dealing though as when I talk to him, we share a few common ideas. After the sale concluded we just move our own way. If that is your concern about anonymity.
2037  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bottom on: January 04, 2015, 06:44:34 AM
Seriously if only I knew the answer to this question. And because I can't predict, I'm putting my bet to gradually buy a small amount in every drop. I did made a post saying that I placed my buy order at 280 and it has been executed since and my next target to buy again is when it goes to 250.
2038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think of services which hold your bitcoins? (aka. Bitcoin banks) on: January 04, 2015, 06:30:04 AM
If I hold my own money and if it gets lost, I'm personally responsible for all of it. I like to be in control of what I do. If I screw up and I didn't take enough measures to make it safe, then that's due to my own fault. That is why I prefer not to leave others handle on my behalf.
2039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin was just an investment? on: January 04, 2015, 06:23:42 AM
Personally I prefer the word "investment" to be dropped altogether or even in any way associated with bitcoin. It's causing all the price volatility and that only ends up attracting people looking for fast and personal gain rather than seeing the coin succeed.
2040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto is from Europe on: January 04, 2015, 06:19:30 AM
It's difficult to make a conclusion based on some general assumption. Regardless of time zone, geeks usually stay awake and work throughout the night, but that doesn't mean they share the same preferences as he/she could prefer working during morning or afternoon.
