1161  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bears you are warned! Dont get hurt! btc is going to moon on: March 04, 2015, 11:42:08 AM
So bring it on! I have a feeling that most of these sellers are margin traders looking for quick profit. So they way btc price is going up fast and mean pretty fast in a short period of time, I'm sure some will sure get burned. Unless they have pretty sizable fund in their account to prevent margin call. It's time for bitcoin to show the way.
1162  Economy / Economics / Re: pump and dump on: March 04, 2015, 11:37:45 AM
I don't know what or how the rich people think but I do have a feeling when they invest, they need to have some form of assurance that the investment can give a high potential yield and return. If they execute a single buy order something like 10 mil in short period of time, sure enough bitcoin price will rise, but they will probably end up having to buy bitcoin at higher price. So you will need to convince them.
1163  Economy / Economics / Re: Will negative interest rate be a boon to Bitcoin? on: March 04, 2015, 11:30:38 AM
With negative interest rate, nobody would want to keep their money in vaults and having to pay the bank just to do a favor for them. That's a logical thinking. With that in mind, assets would definitely be a better bet. You somehow won't find a person who converts all his/her fiat to bitcoin but you will most probably find the investment portfolio spread around, like holding property, stocks, trust fund, gold, and of course, bitcoin will be one of them.

Thanks Marco! First thing on my mind right now is how to re-enrol. Looking forward to hear how the weekly signature campaign is going to work out.
1166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Apple ? Goodbye. on: March 01, 2015, 07:30:04 AM
People are using excuses to snoop on our privacy. It's a fact. And how does these relate to apple and its role on helping to protect my privacy. Even on my android phone, I know some of the browsing search history and behavior are being sent anonymously without my knowledge.
1167  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold:Bitcoin (Price Ratio) on: March 01, 2015, 06:32:26 AM
...

As a fan of both Bitcoin and gold, one indicator I often observe is the gold price to Bitcoin price.

https://ounce.me/ currently (12:37 AM, US ET) has the ratio at 4.757 (4.757 BTC to buy a troy ounce of gold).

I have bought gold with BTC three times, alas I was "lucky" (buying a tiny amount of gold at some 3:1, high BTC price).  Lately I bought a bit more at some 4.89, the first time I had seen BTC relatively strong vs. gold.

I cannot draw any conclusions yet as to when is a good time to accumulate more Bitcoin (at a low price I hope) vs. when to USE some of that BTC to buy gold (when BTC is relatively high vs. gold).

But, I am watching, watching, watching...

Hope fully it can drop under 1.

Which website did you use to purchase gold with btc?

It's either gold price going down considerably or bitcoin price moving up. More likely the latter. However I imagine 2.0 figure to be a more realistic target assuming that gold price stays the same.
1168  Economy / Speculation / Re: The bears are losing their grip on: February 28, 2015, 03:37:19 PM
I think it's starting to become clear that bears are losing their hold over this market. They try to instigate a panic with huge market sell orders or attempt to erode bull confidence with pump and dump tactics but the price still seems to be slowly but steadily pushing upwards if you filter out all that noise. Once the daily MACD goes into positive territory we could see a huge spike into the stratosphere. And I mean really huge because it will coincide with a breakout of the bullish wedge that has been forming since December 2013. I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Cool

I think the Bears have had their day(s), and the Huge Rally is finally starting to form.  Smiley

The Bears could totally get wiped out.
Wouldn't be a bad thing  though.
Wouldn't count on that though. We should still stay sideways trend for some time, probably till early summer. I don't see for now any fundamental reason for moving the price upwards.

The fundamental reason is the average (bitcoin) Joe now has the funds again, after the expensive months and the traditional Januari and February dip in everything connected to finances. It's a global (western) trend that people buy much less and cash out much more in those months. The price will rise to a more realistic value, 300-350. Yet the only thing that concerns me is government regulation, selloffs by agencies, (price) manipulation by whales/government and offcourse maybe some other crypto that takes over, allthough that won't be in a instant, so pay attention I'd say Wink

The biggest concern is probably how they could actually set off a series of hacks like what happened this month to erode the confidence of bitcoin investors. And talk about availability of fund, you can have as many as possible fiat getting printed and then used it to buy bitcoin. Think of it, it's kind of scary to imagine what could happen.

1169  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bit-x in mining vote on: February 28, 2015, 03:31:16 PM
Since I carry the signature, my comment might be a little bit biased. Anyway, it pays well, or would rather say committed on marketing and promotion and having used the dashboard before, I think it's pretty user-friendly. It offers both trading and mining services at the same time.
1170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alternative Altcoin ? on: February 28, 2015, 03:20:32 PM
I think it's still dogecoin. Not because of what it has to offer in terms of new technology but because of the strong backing from its community of supporters. The devs are pretty active. Also I have been observing that mostly it has caught the attention of girls. Maybe because of the dog meme, I think.
1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2015 and WHY on: February 28, 2015, 03:11:30 PM
A good coin to invest is one that has very low value but a decent trading volume, active devs, good name, fair distribution, fast transfertime, POS and a proper wallet.

To have a good chance to make some quick bucks this year i would say that Mintcoin is a pretty good bet. It's undervalued and still very active.
Got a few million to play with and a few million that keeps on minting.

Also look at the sell positions most people don't keep their coins on a trading market so a few BTC invested can make a lot of difference.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450381.0

Been observing this for quite some time now ever since it was launched last year and although initially I thought of diversifying my coins to hold some of it, but later due to certain reason especially after having seen altcoins going down one by one, I changed my mind. Also the community behind it is quite strong but the price has since dived from its initial high during the launch period. Any reason why price is again going up in February 2015?
1172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency with the best distribution? on: February 28, 2015, 03:00:51 PM
What do you think makes for a good distribution of currency? And what currencies do you think have achieved a good distribution?

I can think of two main metrics that one might measure currency distribution in: percent of total currency held by individuals, and total number of individuals who hold said currency.

Another variable is time. And the speed at which the currency is dispersed through out a population.

How important is this to you? Is it an overrated factor, or is it something people underestimate the importance of.

Haven't come across one perfect example. Quark initially had tried to achieve that by adopting the cpu mine concept but unfortunately the short mining period that ends too early means the coin ended up only among handful of people. I think a coin which achieve a fair distribution will be much better off than one which does not.
1173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best way of initial coin distribution on: February 28, 2015, 02:56:50 PM
Whenever I hear the word "premine" it sends that type of negative message. For me, no premine and I would like to see mining effort being given the fair chance to everybody. Something like a cpu mine concept whereby a person will have a fair chance even if you have another person that own 100 cpu, in general, it will still give the same level ofvplaying field. Also, do Announce a release date at least 3 months ahead
1174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin security when mining is over on: February 28, 2015, 02:46:56 PM
Hi all,

A bit new to this bitcoin currency, but already in love with it ^^
If my understanding is correct the security of the network is insured by millions of computers all over the world solving complex mathematical equations.
Those calculations are rewarded by mining. A computer that help securising the network is rewarded this way.

My question is, what will happen after all bitcoins are mined? or when it is no more profitable to keep mining? Who will ensure the security of the network then?

Thank you.  Smiley

Miners will have to rely solely on the transaction fee to get the network going. I wish I could still be there but I think by 2140 none of us here would still be around to see what's the real impact. Anything could happen within that space of long period of time, so it's really hard to imagine
1175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INVEST BITCOIN!!! on: February 28, 2015, 02:38:33 PM
WHERE CAN I TRUST 100% TO INVEST MY COINS for garentee payback
CAN ANY ONE SUGGEST ME ?

No where!
There's not even 100% chance that you or i will be alive tomorrow
So don't ask for 100% chance
And with investment online there are always risks , so you're better off with trading
Trading is even more risky if you are inexperienced. Even experienced people lose money at times. Trading is like gambling as it's all about luck, it may just crash any moment. One wrong move is what you need.

Smart trading is all about limiting your risk to the lowest level. Nobody knows or can accurately predict where the market is heading next thus it's good to hedge your position. When I was on fx trading, my worst enemy is basically myself and how to control my emotions. That would be the first hurdle.
1176  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is this website legit? on: February 28, 2015, 01:55:13 PM

First thing that I saw is that the site only receives payment in bitcoin. And why not other modes of payment method. I would say it's kind of risky and unless the price offered is far better than what you can get offline, then by all means think hard about it.
1177  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: February 28, 2015, 01:41:30 PM
Buying 3 more bitcoins now.  I'd rather have bitcoins now than euros.

Yeah I feel you man, Euro rate is rubbish.

I'm glad I hold Bitcoins which gives me a good feeling  Smiley

Hold your coins for as long as you can and enjoy.

Obviously there's nothing to lose. With the euro situation which is already getting bad as days go by, switching to bitcoin means at least there is still some hope left. I would rather diversify investment portfolio to different areas rather than continue to hold on to fiat.
1178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom : " Let's give Bitcoin a boost " on: February 28, 2015, 01:32:08 PM
Is this the reason bitcoin rise more than $10 in a days?

I doubt that. But of course Kim Schmitz would like to be the reason for it. He is extremely self-centered and thinks he is the greatest.
Check out his past life and you will know what I mean.

With all the money hes got he can get Bitcoin to 300 easily..

Just wondering why he needs to convert all his stash when what he needs is basically to be able to receive payment in bitcoin. The large buy order could come from someone else who might have interpret that as a positive news event and thus put on a large buy.
1179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cannot Succeed (heres why) on: February 28, 2015, 01:20:41 PM
in short
the OP is wrong, bitcoin will succeed.

the reason
bitcoin is not an exchange made of PHP code and SQL databases. so even if al of these exchanges run by basement dwellers do go belly up, bitcoin will continue.

But something better could come along which could kill bitcoin off pretty quickly. I also think it merchants don't get on board and the currency is always crashing or losing value I think many will get tired of it as a currency and ditch it.

If the price gets lower there will be more who will hop on board. I've been telling my friends to buy the coin and at current price it's a good opportunity to own a bitcoin. Merchants basically don't get exposed to too much of the risk if they use payment processor to handle bitcoin.
1180  Economy / Speculation / Re: TO THE MOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: February 28, 2015, 11:59:52 AM
Where is the pump coming from? Are we going for the next few hours to $300 range? Hope so, but at $250 price it needs to be more stable first.

I'm interested where the pump is coming from,too.Hmmm...maybe this is the reason  Wink : https://twitter.com/KimDotcom/status/571182571335258113
                                                                                                                               https://twitter.com/KimDotcom/status/571182813937971200
I don't think we will go in the next few hours to $300 range.
If thats the actual news, it isn't a very big one, but its funny how small things can give us such a price boost.

It's very unlikely that is "the news" or even if there is a real correlation between price and news.

If you want to believe that tweet is related to the price movement, the more likely scenario is that Kim Dotcom bought BTC and then posted that.

they claim that they have 15 mil users. letīs say that is 10 x overstated. this would leave 1.5 mio users needing bitcoin soontm to pay for this service. sounds bullish to me.

Agreed that it's bullish, just disagree that the twitter post, which happened after the pump, was what caused the pump.

Probably he would have bought first before tweeting or else he will have to buy at much higher price. Something that he would have planned and thought of.
