1141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where are the Chinese? on: March 05, 2015, 11:56:20 AM
Well even if you don't see them, you just know they are there. Probably they are more active in chinese based forum and that is why you don't see them here. Remembered that I saw a chart that says china based exchangers actually account for more than 90% of the trading activities. If that is what I saw.
1142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: March 05, 2015, 11:52:25 AM
Talk about ripple, I don't understand what's the mechanism that controls the price movement. At any time, if let's say the price is increasing, does that mean there's a demand for the coin? Likewise when it is going down. As long as it's centralized, or centrally issued for that matter and being closed source, well, that pretty much the question of trust over here.
1143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's year 2050 and Bitcoin is the world currency... on: March 05, 2015, 11:42:43 AM
I hope that happens. In reality whatever I'm still holding on to will definitely increase in price as there is now lower supply in the market. I don't think we'll need to worry about that for the moment. Even if does become non-divisible in the future, there's a way for the network to compensate for it provided that the community agrees on a consensus whether to shift the decimal places or otherwise.
1144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Happy Days Are Here Again, BTC UP, UP, UP ... on: March 05, 2015, 11:38:02 AM
Yeah, seems like the price has retraced slightly. If we look at the positive side, at 270 at least it's still considered higher than 240 level we seen weeks ago. The problem is a lot of people have high expectation that they want to see major movement. For me, even if it retraced a little, it is still good enough. As long as it increases steadily.
1145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monster transaction: 39016 BTC!! on: March 05, 2015, 11:34:10 AM
I believe I've seen far bigger transaction than that before but nevertheless it's still consider "big" for my standard. My curiosity is who owns all these bitcoins? Is this what you refer to as the whales? I mean with that amount they can surely affect or change the direction of the price movement (if those gets dumped to the open market)
1146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Reason Bitcoin Should Succeed... on: March 05, 2015, 11:29:12 AM
The advantage which I see using bitcoin as a payment method here for the parking is that if let's say you know you are going to exit the mall very soon, you can just initiate payment online half an hour or so before by just scanning the QR code to make the payment using your smartphone. After that proceed straight to the parking lot without wasting any time. Of course, that couldn't be easier
1147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: March 05, 2015, 11:22:03 AM
I managed a number of websites and earn from the advertising. A portion of the money earned in fiat are invested back into bitcoin, if that fits into your definition of growing your bitcoin. Also have been thinking of making another separate website that focuses specifically on crypto and then placing ads networks that pays in bitcoin
1148  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: how do I create multiple wallets on electrum. on: March 04, 2015, 02:23:11 PM
Do I uninstall the old version before installing the new one ? if I install the old version then what happens to my wallet and the funds in it? how do I restore the wallet?

If you have the 12-word seed with you, there shouldn't be any problem. Just uninstall the program like what you would normally do with other programs and then reinstall it back. Look under File menu and click New/Restore. Choose a file name and then save it. The program will prompt you whether you want to start with a new wallet or restore one from a seed.
As in your case, you should select restore from seed
1149  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum wallet wont open on: March 04, 2015, 02:16:08 PM
If you have the seed, you can safely proceed to uninstall the program and then delete every traces of the config file. If need to, export the private key and keep it safe in case the version of electrum has issue with your windows installation. Then, look under yourcomputername/appdata/roaming/electrum and delete everything there is on that folder. But first you will need to enable "show hidden file" function. Reinstall electrum to check if that helps. Else if still facing the same problem, you can still export the private key to other wallet program.
1150  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC GOING UP WOT SHOULD I DO on: March 04, 2015, 02:10:32 PM
Decide yourself whether you have the cash and whether buying with your saving is going to cause a dent towards your financial status. Oh come on, if you are getting 1 btc for 280 and suddenly it drops to 250, it's not like losing 30 is going to spell the end of the world. Having said that, it doesn't mean that you should invest everything you have into something you can't afford to lose.
1151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin , what now ? on: March 04, 2015, 02:03:30 PM
You have said it yourself. Absolutely nothing to lose if you continue to hang on to it and bet on bitcoin's future that somehow one day the value will be worth much more than what it is today. For me, even if I'm desperate for money, selling my bitcoin would only be my last option in mind. I would say, continue to hold.
1152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin only coffee bean exports. on: March 04, 2015, 01:57:55 PM
I suppose what OP is trying to say is similar in analogy like what we have with crude oil and dollar. Imagine this scenario. If a person wants to buy coffee, the only currency accepted by the farmers is bitcoin. That means every trade involving coffee has to involve the use of bitcoin as the exchange medium and this created a permanent demand for bitcoins on the exchange markets
1153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin on wall street journal font page on: March 04, 2015, 01:50:44 PM
I supposed it is for the good. We badly need fresh fund to the market to boost the price and when the rest of people see a sustainable uptrend, hopefully it will change investor's negative impression about bitcoin. Practically, I don't mind who gets into bitcoin as long as it brings good benefit in the long run.
1154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Happy Days Are Here Again, BTC UP, UP, UP ... on: March 04, 2015, 01:46:46 PM
I would prefer to see a slow but gradual increase. Never mind if it takes a long period of time to achieve a certain price level but as long as it can sustain the uptrend and growth, this should be good enough. Much better than seeing it grow too fast and then take the plunge the next following day.
1155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sending without transactionn fees on: March 04, 2015, 12:15:19 PM
If you really need to test it out, one of the ways to do it is to use electrum wallet which allows you to adjust the fees. But I wouldn't move to that and take that kind of risk. The transaction might be stuck for days which happened before to me before. And also paying the standard 0.0001 fee might not be a bad thing after all. It's still very cheap compared to the other money transfer options.
1156  Economy / Speculation / Re: Happy Days Are Here Again, BTC UP, UP, UP ... on: March 04, 2015, 12:11:55 PM
At least we now have hope that things are turning for the better. It might still be too early to tell what is going to happen next, probably it will drop a ton the next day or week to come, but I'm just full of optimism that the uptrend will just continue. If it maintains that way, I'm sure the future of bitcoin will be very bright.
1157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ex-Moolah Chief Now Behind Bars on: March 04, 2015, 12:08:43 PM
I think hardest hit would be the dogecoin community. Imagine the sense of betrayal surrounding the whole issue. When we have this sort of thing happening, what really matters is the reputation, not to mention morale and how negatively it can affect the sentiment and bring down the mood of the community.
1158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do boys use bitcoin? on: March 04, 2015, 12:05:37 PM
Does it really matter or do we need to relate the coin usage and make it a gender segregation issue? I would say the male subject is more interested judging by the numbers. So generally the answer is yes, unless you will find someone ignores the whole prospect and future of bitcoin and didn't figure out that it's going to be the next big thing that's ever going to happen.
1159  Economy / Speculation / Re: A day will come .. on: March 04, 2015, 11:55:44 AM
If we all stick to one single consensus or direction to forget about the price and hold no matter what goes on tomorrow, whales or bears for that matter will find it hard to survive. Well, I do hope that the day will finally come when nobody will ever get the chance to manipulate or control the market.
1160  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will the US Gov't auction effect the price of bitcoin? on: March 04, 2015, 11:45:41 AM
The winner to the auction probably managed to buy at a discounted price, lower that the market spot price. If he decides to dumped everything to the open market then it will negatively affect bitcoin price. But somehow I don't think they will do that sort of stuff. With the future of bitcoin in mind, holding their stash and wait for the right time would be the most logical thing to do for now
