2021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Both PoW and PoS algos are scams. Here's why. on: July 19, 2020, 08:42:24 PM
It's a very valid argument to say that all people just talk about their gains and never about losses and they bullshit about the gains. So I don't believe people when they say that. Sure you might have been among those who who bough low and sold high, but my point is that, that is not a a real user case. It's no real utility to simply have virtual object that fluctuates in value. The Proof-of-Work algorithm just validates the transactions in peer-to-peer network, without the need of a 3rd party middle man as validator. This is indeed a great innovation, but it's just a system.

I'm completely open about my investments and bought at many different levels in 2016 and 2017, most of it below 3000 dollars but some at 5 and 6 as well. I still have these coins so no selling for profit on my part. Holding something that makes me feel safe while being profitable is more than enough for me. I'm not going to chase profit around trading for a few dollars of profit every day. It's a waste of time.

You think those who bought early are not to be believed because those are the lucky few. Did I get it right? Bitcoin remained below 6000 dollars for more than 8 years. That's enough time to be among the lucky few. You underestimate hiw many people on this forum still hold Bitcoins bought for less tha 1000 USD. I can tell you it's a lot.

PayPal also only works as a middleman. A transaction validator. It does something a 1 person acting as escrow could do and its shares are worth 150 EUR a piece. Does it create any value?

Quote
The system itself does not create any value. It's just a tool.

A computer program or a domain also don't create value but have value.
2022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What Happens To The Altcoins If Bitcoin Drops Strong? on: July 19, 2020, 08:20:33 PM
We have been bearish since mid-May 2020.

Not really. We have been in a bear market up to the turnaround from 3000 dollars and since then the price is acting bullish. A small setback caused by the stock market crash doesn't make it bearish. I never look at 1h chart unless I'm trying to trade right here right now. For me what maters is the big picture - months and years.

Yes, if Bitcoin crashes strong it will take altcoins down with it. That's pretty obvious.
2023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fundamental Wallets to store your BTC /Other Coins & Tokens on: July 19, 2020, 08:03:27 PM
(...) many people will point their finger to hardware wallets, which is good and somehow safe than the other but in some point of view it is not convenient since it requires me to carry it wherever I go and in order to make transactions differently from web/ app base wallet which I can Access anywhere with any computer/device which is not safe if I let track way to my wallet.

So you choose to compromise your safety for convenience. That's not how most crypto enthusiasts should proceed and I will never recommend it to anyone.

You also said that you are using a web wallet that can be accessed from anywhere so you don't even use a wallet on your phone but use other people's computers or public machines to transact? This is so careless I'm lost for words.
2024  Economy / Speculation / Re: Old grandmas funds to pump bitcoin? on: July 19, 2020, 07:41:17 PM
When reading such news I always think of the requirements that have to be met. In these case it would be requirements for an old person to buy Bitcoin this way.

They would have to:
have that specific retirement fund
be able to manage their own asets
be able to read and get that information. Most old people don't read leaflets and don't surf the Internet. They have a card and use it to pay from their account.
be positive about investing their money in general as most old people are not
know what Bitcoin is
be positive about it and we all know most people are not.

How many will put a tick in all the above? 1%?
2025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT TRUST TO TETHER on: July 19, 2020, 07:27:20 PM
I think we have passed the point to wonder if Tether going to be trust or not. In the end, we have to use it to finalize our gain no matter we like it or not.

Yes' you're right.

I forgot that there's no fiat anymore and there are no exchanges that don't use stablecoins and we are forced to exchange to Tether every time we execute a trade. Grin

We've definitely passed a point of no return with Tether. Now it's USDt or bust  Wink
2026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any tips or idea to earn money without investment or inviting friends. Need help on: July 19, 2020, 07:07:48 PM
We had topics like that, you can look them up on the forum.

I'll start with the most obvious question - what can you do?

We don't know anything about you. Maybe you can translate texts, maybe you can manage social media, maybe you know how to make tutorials or youtube videos.
Look in the services section of this forum maybe you'll find something that you like.

2027  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would you buy/use Bitcoin if you knew its price would not reach a new ATH? on: July 19, 2020, 06:57:26 PM
Would you buy/use Bitcoin if you knew its price would not reach a new ATH?

I dont understand what have using Bitcoin do with Bitcoin reaching ATH. I am cautious using Bitcoin for some other reasons then if it will reach ATH or not. Information who owned Bitcoins I have before me. And information I will give to the one I will spend my Bitcoin to.

Is there anything difficult in his question that you cannot understand? I sure have trouble understanding your point. Especially that last sentence.

Bitcoin is an investment which means many people buy it to sell later and profit. That's why many wouldn't buy it if they knew there would be no $50 thousand Bitcoin, ever.

I'd still use it and by it even as an investment because no ATH doesn't exclude the possibility of 20 thousand dollar bitcoin which is a 2x gain.
2028  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I am concerned about the dangers of KYC, but how do you do business... on: July 19, 2020, 06:35:11 PM
I buy gift cards and avoid KYC exchanges, although I made a mistake and had a Coinbase account for a few years.

KYC is not mandatory everywhere, but if you are a trader it's going to be very difficult to avoid it in the US, especially if you're trading more than 4 figures, then it becomes almost impossible.

If you're a normal investor and want to sell some coins and buy yourself something nice you can still do it without going through KYC by trading P2P, buying gift cards or selling coins in person. Just remember to not go alone Wink
2029  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason for Bullish and bearish in BTC on: July 19, 2020, 06:28:41 PM
If you're looking back at 2012 there were many things that happened over the years. Some of the big ones were:
Countries like Malta recognizing Bitcoin as legal tender.
Stores in Japan and Korea accepting payments in Bitcoin.
Steady growing number of Bitcoin ATMs all over the world.
Many online stores reporting increased sales after accepting Bitcoin payments.
Banks like JPMorgan switching their stance.
Growing media attention.

Why aren't we at 15000 or higher right now? Because we were in a bear market since 2018.
2030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if you knew Huobi's private key? on: July 19, 2020, 06:11:51 PM
Let's assume that you guess the correct private key of Huobi's cold wallet. What would you do?

I'm not a thief so I'd probably try to contact them and tell them that I could have made use of that but didn't, saving them a lot of trouble and money and ask for a reward.
I'd prefer a few thousand dollars of honest money than millions and a lifetime of looking over my shoulder and taking pills before going to bed.

The other bad case is that bitcoin price will drop DRAMATICALLY! Imagine yourself reading the news that some hackers stole 255kBTC, wouldn't you be a bit afraid?

No, I wouldn't. It's still money in the network just like Mt.Gox money or DPR's money. They all belonged to criminals at some point. All bitcoin in circulation will at some point go through the hands of criminals just like most dollar bills you use every day were one day used to buy drugs or even snort them.

2031  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN price chart suggest $9k on: July 19, 2020, 06:03:00 PM
At first the article looks like it's about to do some TA but then it follows that good old path we know too well. It goes like this: bitcoin is looking both bullish and bearish and it can go up above 9000 dollars or down below 8000 dollars...

If you look deeper and into the author's drawings you see that his bullish scenario points to a breakout at 9177 and possibly going back to 10000.
His bearish scenario draws the line at 7600-7800 so even the author thinks that if the price goes down you'll lose about 1500 USD and if we go up you'll maybe make 900 on your investment. Not really a 50:50 scenario for a potential investor.
2032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Coronavirus Help Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency - Debate about with Valutainment on: July 19, 2020, 05:19:03 PM

I didn't agree with the host. He is just pointing out his views to accommodate the guests on his show so to not be a bad interviewer.
As you can see with their most recent interview with CSW.

1 minute preview:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAwRAcSwobo

main discussion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JvDauIX5lg

On one hand I like that he's allowing people from both sides of the barricade to be heard and that he's not interviewing them in an aggressive way, like some journalists on mainstream TV like to do.

On the other, some people like CSW should really be boycotted. People who keep on tealling lies shouldn't be invited to any shows. I bet most of us are tired of this guy and he can be dangerous to newbies who are looking to buy some crypto.
2033  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why isn't crypto poker popular? on: July 19, 2020, 04:16:28 PM
1. It is not. If you look at casino statistics it's far below games like dice and blackjack. And let's not forget the king of all fiat casinos - slots.
The reason for it is poker is the game that requires the most skill out of all casino games. It's not as relaxing as other games where you just wager some money and watch it roll.

2. In crypto casinos dice games took all the golory. I don't know why. Sometimes it's hard for me to understand why this game is such a hit.
2034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The most searched cryptocurrencies on Google on: July 18, 2020, 10:10:17 PM
Interesting results... I think that Bitcoin SV is less known by the few masses that gain interest on crypto, it just popped up not so long ago and people don't care that much about "one more bitcoin"...
Concerning Binance coin, I think it is also natural as it has a limited interest for people not using the exchange... for these it becomes only speculation

Both BCH and BSV are total shitcoins that would have no market cap if not for the word Bitcoin in their name. They were early forks and gathered all the attention of people who thought they can make money with something made of the original valuable asset. In other words they bought a knockoff hoping that it would explode.

BCH has some google searches because of bitcoin.com. Many newbies get lured there thinking it's the official site for Bitcoin but it belongs to the owner of BCH.

BSV relied mostly on Craig and not a site so it will always have less searches than BCH. Also BSV is not a fork of Bitcoin so it's a step behind BCH and with Craig's reputation in ruins without any chance catch up.
2035  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you Help identify this man? on: July 18, 2020, 09:53:22 PM
A lot of cash for someone to go hiking with.

Here's more about this case, including pictures of his notes.

Do not post any more of those words, because it can be part of a seed for the recovery of his Bitcoin wallet. I

2036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Both PoW and PoS algos are scams. Here's why. on: July 18, 2020, 09:40:29 PM
Yeah I know everyone has just made a lot of money in Las Vegas too, an nobody has lost any money. I know.

In the absence of valid arguments all you're left with is sarcasm, I know.

Bitcoin is a new innovation. It's a secure P2P electronic payment system, but the network itself does not create any value. That's my point.

How an Internet network would create value, I'm curious. Is adding a few lines of code in the database creating value or not?
2037  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade by yourself on: July 18, 2020, 09:30:55 PM
It is better to be rich in one's knowledge than to be rich in the knowledge of others. Why don't you defend on others but you have to know about it  then not cant man from others but if you don't have any knowledge about trading at all then there is no benefit from knowledge of other.

Others who make their predictions public allow you to know the market psychology. If all known traders start posting about the market going up you know the crowd is going crazy and the sentiment is positive.

You don't have to rely on others with your trades but it's good to build a strategy knowing what the masses think.
2038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance Twitter account have been hacked! on: July 18, 2020, 08:56:26 PM
If this is how crypto will be known by many, that would be a bad idea and might cause fear and panic to more people.

Panic because of what reason? If someone should panic it's the social media users who found out their accounts aren't safe and all their private data stored on social media can be easily exposed.

There are still people who believe their public image and reputation depends on the status of their social media accounts. These people will sooner or later learn the hard way that centralized platforms are unable to protect them.

Bitcoin has nothing to do with these hacks and is just a form of payment these people demand. Bitcoin is the money of the Internet so it's normal they chose it.
2039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: It's always about your choice on: July 18, 2020, 08:42:05 PM
Does it really matter for the manager if the project succeeds or not? He will get paid anyway and most managers get much better deals than the people they later hire for the campaign.

Usuallyt if someone gets the short straw it's the member of the campaign. The manager will get on top anyway, regardless of what you do.
2040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you trade if you won't leave your coins on exchange on: July 18, 2020, 08:37:35 PM
Only DEX could be adequate soltion for this

With the volume DEX exchanges are showing it's safe to say no professional traders use them.

DEX is great if you want to do a safe trade and hide your activity as much as possible. They are not made for day traders.
