2021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Want to make 0.01 btc? All good advice on mining rig wil get it. on: February 05, 2014, 02:16:25 PM

This forum is for bitcoin hardware IE ASICs and FPGAs. Alt-coin hardware questions should be posted in the alt-coin mining sub forums where they belong. You'll actually find answers there since GPU miners post there.

Edit: See? Your post is now where it belongs. Magic.

Have you tried presence pin shorts in the GPU slots?

When you manage to get to windows with all 6 cards plugged in, how many cards do you see in the device manager?

Also, try adding one card at a time.

I won't buy MSI products anymore, if they allow this kind of crap:

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=flvd04o76cd19r5lh33kfprnv0&topic=169369

The rules don't apply if you talk trash about Bitcoin? But mentioning Bitcoin and coolers in the same post is a no? F* them.
Maybe BT should add a rule not to talk about MSI unless it is to trashtalk about them.

What a circle jerk.
2024  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: We're All Criminals According to MSI on: February 05, 2014, 01:23:13 PM
The only way to teach them a lesson is for all miners to stay away from them and buy cards from their competitors. Why should miners support them when they don't support miners? Business doesn't work one-way.

To be fair, the clowns moderating the MSI forums aren't MSI employees. MSI has no qualms with mining in my experience, and are currently working with me to get my fans replaced on my cards.

Do you have a contact you could share? I wouldn't mind having my fans replaced either if possible. I just don't think it warrants me having to send the cards themselves away to replace a simple component that my 5 yr old could replace.

Or do you, or anyone else viewing this thread happen to know the part # of the fans? I can probably find a replacement on ebay with that info. I have yet to remove the fans off my cards as they still spin, they just need a little encouragement. They sound like an ancient IDE HDD ticking away. Very nostalgic lol.

My partner is taking care of getting the replacements, but I'm pretty sure he simply called MSI Canada and explained the situation. They wanted to replace every card which was defective, but after a bit of explanation he understood why we don't want to send the cards in. I fully expect the replacement fans to die within the month like these have anyways.

I don't have a part number, unfortunately. I'm probably going to end up buying 66 92mm fans and a bunch of zip ties.
2025  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: We're All Criminals According to MSI on: February 05, 2014, 01:17:12 PM
MSI probably don't like people using their GPU to mine 24/7,
cause too many of them are returned within the warranty period??

There are people who game all day using their cards. The cards should have a tolerance for more than average use.

Not to mention that they seem to have their own F@H team which stresses cards 24/7 also.
2026  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ATTENTION] Miners of P2Pool.org - GOOD NEWS! on: February 05, 2014, 08:11:22 AM
50btc.com stole all my 0.8 BTC I had since 2012 year! When I log in 2013 it says that I have 19 BTC. Now it says 0. Where is my 0.8 BTC?? This site must be closed!

What?

What made you think using a pool as a bank was a good idea? And what made you think posting this in a p2pool thread was a good idea?

What a bunch of morons.

I've got 33 MSI 280x cards, 6strings. The fans are all fucking garbage. Some are seized, some barely spin, and all have leaked oil from their bearings. Avoid MSI cards at all costs until these shit quality fans are addressed.

If I could be bothered to register on their forum, I'd post this for shits and giggles:

7990s are actually a notorious bunch of cards. They are supposed to hash a 1500Kh/s+ but, most people have a lot of problem with them and can only mine at around 1.1Mhs.

True, they werent even officially released by AMD  Roll Eyes

Yes they were. Look up AMD Malta.
2031  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Help/advise needed for proper p2pool configuration on: February 03, 2014, 07:00:52 PM
i3-3220 with 4GB RAM and a 64GB SSD is fine, though with the rate the Blockchain is increasing, it might be worth going with a 120GB SSD.

Personally, I use Debian on my linux machines, basically because it's available on all of them (RasPi, BeagleBone Black and x86).  Saves me having to remember different commands for different distros.

Great, thanks for the info! I already have the 64GB SSD as a spare so I'll use that for now, and clone to a bigger SSD when needed.

What kind of comments do you need?
I guess HellDiverUK has already solved your problem....

Hardware suggestions would be nice instead of useless posts like yours.

2034  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [YouTube video] How to improve cooling on Antminer S1 on: February 03, 2014, 04:40:58 AM
Those fans don't look like they have very much static pressure, pretty sure you could do a lot better.

I'm going to make some stainless steel panels to close mine off this week.
2035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2 PSU Miner Setup on: February 03, 2014, 03:56:47 AM
Basically that will allow the 2nd PSU to receive the on and off signal that the motherboard sends when the power button is pressed.
2036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2 PSU Miner Setup on: February 03, 2014, 03:34:51 AM
Connect the green wires and any 2 black wires from the 24 pin ATX connectors together. Risers to first PSU. Figure 35w per riser.
2037  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: p2pool not paying out? on: January 31, 2014, 08:58:50 AM
Thanks, mitty, that was really helpful. Once again I get burned for not doing proper research!

Join the P2Pool when you have more hashing power in the future. Little step at a time.

I started on a mining pool. Now I have my own P2Pool in my home network. Running as a node of the P2Pool.

What would you say the minimum hashrate should be to mine on p2pool?
