1081  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 37 blocks solved! on: April 24, 2015, 06:17:36 AM
Does this pool have it out for bfgminer? I ask because I'm trying to tune the voltage on some Neptunes, and bfgminer allows me to see hw error rates for each die while cgminer doesn't. I'll be using cgminer once everything is sorted out, but for now I need bfgminer. Seems like bfgminer (5.0.0) will only connect to the pool 10% of the time, and fail over to my second pool the rest of the time. cgminer (4.9.1) connects every time without issue.  Huh
1082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: having a problem with my r9 280x. on: April 24, 2015, 06:05:04 AM
scrypt....gpu.....cgminer 3.7.2......2015.......  Undecided

Your problem is your PSU. It's no name garbage that has 600w written on it, but it can only put out 250w on a good day. Keep forcing it to power down and you'll soon have a sparky dead PSU, which could very well take out the rest of your hardware.

My advice? Give the 280x back to your friend, or use it to game once you get a real PSU.

Do you guys think these would be good replacement fans for Neptunes?

1085  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4+ Setup [HD] on: April 23, 2015, 07:46:01 AM
Nice guide once again.

Just one thing, I haven't received my +s yet so I don't know if it's actually aluminium, but the S4 definitely isn't. It's steel.. Might want to correct that.

I'm disappointed that bitmain locked voltage control down, but not surprised after they stripped the S4 of that functionality with a firmware update.
1086  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4+ Discussion and Support Thread on: April 23, 2015, 07:31:27 AM
Bitmain, please treat the S4+ and it's users better than you did the S4's.
1087  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: April 23, 2015, 07:17:35 AM
Antminer's cgminer fork breaks best share reporting when diff is a power of 2. Try diff 1000.

I am flabbergasted.
Pleased to meet you - I'm Kano.
Yeah it only affects the BestShare value - it doesn't actually mean you lose shares.

However ... the fact that their code can throw away valid blocks on p2pool is the really unbelievable one Tongue

95% of stale p2pool sharechain blocks are valid blockchain blocks - so your local p2pool submits them to the bitcoin network anyway - coz yeah that would be bad not to ... except ... the bitmain version of their driver discard stale work before it gets back to the work processor in cgminer Tongue
I did of course fix that back with the S1 (and S2) ... but ... they ignored all the changes I did then or in the S2 ... c'est la vie Tongue

Is it possible for users of newer bitmain hardware to fix that themselves on their hardware?

1089  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: antminer s6 4500gh/s 1000watts on: April 23, 2015, 04:53:07 AM
We can put this thread to sleep or on vacation until august as we won't be seeing the s-6 until then.  The decision from bitmaintech to sell the s4+ means months before we see an s6.

What it likely means is that they just finished replacing their S4+ farm with S6 miners. Now they sell us their used "dusty" S4+, and mine with S6 for a few months before selling them to us.
1090  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S6 speculation on: April 23, 2015, 04:33:30 AM
Looks like this thread need to do a 90 day vacation  maybe a 150 day vacation since s-6's will not show up sooner then summertime. Or early fall.

I would agree with it could be a while.  I still think btc being so low has something to do with it, companies have to do R+D smarter not faster.

I think for a little bit our options are S4+ or S5.  Which is a interesting mix.   I was surprised with the 220, I see this as good for future releases showing Bitmain is not scared to go up to 220.

I'm also happy to see Bitmain not being too concerned about telling those who are serious with mining to move to 205 to 240 range.  I do like the capability to still use rigs at 120 during the winter.  This means I can move a rig to a bedroom or living room that needs heat without concern of having a 205 to 240 volt receptacle.

yeah home miners will need to up their game by having 1 or more 240 volt  receptacles.

I now have a 30 amp and a 20 amp circuit .  These were 120 volt dedicated receptacles for subwoofer amps that I installed in my home 17 years ago.  I now  did a very simple switchover and made them 240 volts.

Of course they are not in the best spots of my home but I will get around that in due time.  For now with the hot weather approaching I will keep mining low.

Sounds like a plan.

I did have six 20 amp/120 volt circuits at one time.  I switched everything over to five 30 amp/240 volt circuits with PDU's.  I doubled my available watts by doing this.  Everyone else should do it as well if possible.

I think I was the one who pointed you in the 240v/PDU direction. Smiley Looks like you took it and RAN LOL. Love your setup.

If you have been screwed by KnC, there are at least three law firms you can contact.

Read and see if any of these issues apply to you below.

What about cancelling your order for a Neptune when they took too long and then received a refund?  Grin

I made out like a bandit with that.  Grin

Paid 11.5BTC for Neptune preorder, canceled and was refunded ~27BTC. Best/easiest ROI evar!

No problem, enjoy! The firmware works very well, as do all of smit1237's firmwares. (he made this firmware for nicehash)

Does Smits firmware fix the p=x.xxxx problem for switching pools from nicehash. Thanks in advance
Of course it solves that problem, if this firmware listed on nicehash...

Actually it doesn't, unfortunately. If p= is set below whats being paid, it works, but if p= is set above the current price it doesn't switch to the second pool. It just stays stuck on nicehash, not getting any work, and not getting work from the second pool. It just idles.

Nice DC/DC temps! What is the ambient temperature where your miners are located? Have you replaced the fans or something?

I repleced the fans with 3000 rpm nocuta.
 room temp is auround 20 / 24c
I also obdervolted al the cubes , some as low as -0.0839

Cool, thanks. I'll have to pick some of those up! Do you have a model number by any chance?

hey im trying to put 4.9 on my miner cant firgure it out. I know how to use putty. But im not sure how to flash this or if i just replace the files. https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=software#asic here is the link of what I'm trying to flash. I dont want to brick my s4 not sure how to reset it if i do yet. This one comes with stock fans. I would like to get input on anything you have related to this topic as well. Im all ears.

Just flash the firmware that you downloaded off of nicehash like you would any other firmware. You'll be running 4.9 with xnsub support once you flash it.
1098  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 22, 2015, 04:31:16 AM
Guys, regarding the neptune. cgminer 4.9.1 VS bfgminer 5.0, any advantages to one or the other? I imagine bfgminer supports #xnsub for pools like nicehash while cgminer doesn't? Anything else?

What do you neptune owners prefer to run?
1099  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S4+ available for global sales on April 20th, shipping within one week on: April 22, 2015, 12:25:22 AM

Thanks Smiley That's in my detached garage at home, which only has 60A to work with. What's in that picture is taking it all up, so I still have a lot of hardware in the house that needs to be moved out there once my dedicated 200A electrical entrance is installed hopefully in the next 2 weeks or so. Hardware not pictured: 2X Neptunes, a Titan, a 90MH A2 Terminator, 2x S4 and as of Thursday 2x S4+.

I didn't see it as insulting at all, it would be the most logical thing to do really... I just like complicating my life for nothing, so I reversed the fans in the S4s and the Alcheminer to suit my "needs".

And just think, after Thursday you can stop complaining about those "noisy SP20's", since the new S4+ will completely drown them out!  Wink

I am glad I don't get your electric bill each month. What's your electricity cost if you don't mind the inquiry?

Heh, I run the SP20s at 100% fan and don't hear them thanks to the 2880w PSUs. they're pretty much all I hear, in fact. Doubt the S4+ will be louder than they are!

I pay about 7c/kWh USD. In Canadian funny money, that's $0.086.

Air intake is from the front (PSU/Ethernet port side)  THere are 4 fan connectors on the control PCB!  Wink

Always the policy is any modification of the unit will void the warranty...

side note, reversing the fans should not do any damage.  2 fans to intake and 2 fans to suck them out of the box.

Bitmain,

I assume air intake is on the front of the unit, where you plug the PSU? Is it OK to reverse the airflow by switching all 4 fans around? I need the front to be the exhaust side.

I was hoping it wouldn't void the warranty since it's such a minor thing. Bitmain had us switching PSUs and fans constantly with the S4, even hash board occasionally. Surely just reversing the fans should be allowable without voiding the warranty?

I could be missing something but why not just turn entire unit around, instead of reversing fans?

He needs the power plug  to be in a certain position.  I am assuming that all other power plugs on all his gear  are the  outake side.

In my case it's mostly about having airflow where it needs to go while still having access to the front of the units. This pic will give you an idea with some of the rigs:
(Saving space)
Wouldn't want all that hot air stagnating in back of them, exhaust needs to come out of the front where it's then extracted via a large fan to the exterior.

I really like your setup.  After rereading my suggestion I just want to say I did not mean as an insult.   It possibly could have been taken badly.  I was meant as a suggestion not insult.
