2042  Economy / Speculation / Re: Effect of US sequestration on bitcoin? on: March 02, 2013, 09:19:24 PM
It's only $85 billion over a year.  The fed prints that in only one month.

Printing de-values the currency of course and even de-values the debt hurting dept holders and savers alike.  So printing does not send the US closer to collapse and neither does the sequestration.  What does hurt the US is more debt.

I wish that were true unfortunately it is not. First, printing is expanding the debt. It is one in the same. All dollars are created with debt.
Second the system requires ever growing debt, If total debt (public and private debt) doesn't continue to rise then the economy will go into recession.

2043  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 02, 2013, 08:58:18 PM
No facts to back this up this is purely a guess on my part. I know I am going to hear a lot of shit about this post, but this is what my gut tells me.
A hand full of people are pushing the market up slowly to make it more believable.

2044  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Confirmed scam! Don't get screwed! on: March 02, 2013, 08:29:08 PM
So just a couple questions and I will be over this stupid shit.

1. How did you know to log in and respond to this post? who told you?
2. Is your name Mathew Harrison?

2045  Economy / Services / Re: John (Johnthedong)'s escrow service on: March 02, 2013, 08:08:01 PM
That would work out just fine john. What would be a good tip? Would you rather a percentage or a flat fee?
2046  Economy / Services / Re: John (Johnthedong)'s escrow service on: March 02, 2013, 07:36:20 PM
John I would be more than willing to pay you for escrow service. Would you be willing to do escrow for paypal transactions? I know this doesn't prevent charge back risk but it would at least insure that both parties send. I dont know how to use GPG.... everyone gives me a hard time about that but I just dont care about encryption. I have no need for it.  Would you take information by privanote?

to Mathew
respond to it on bitcoin forums. If you are who you say you would have responded.

Mathew Harrison
12:46 PM (2 minutes ago)

to me
Why would I respond to a scam thread, I find that very rude. what evidence are you going on? I do many tranactions dails on otc and off otc. I will not reply to a scammer thread. Me and the boys over at otc are wondering what is ging on with you. I called you and had a conversation, like guy I dont have the time as I said. I usuially get an email we talk and i call teh person, we decide money , person sends and i send the btc and blockchain adress, deal done. thats how it should be.

So either take it or leave it. I now understand why you were booded off otc. you may have an ebay store, thats great and all buy im an otc member. SO either lets trade and do business togather and get past this small bump or you fid and differant ruputable seller. I would say otc is the best place
Regards

The site and G+ accounts seem shady and a job of another noob scammer. Anyone falling for that is best to be parted with his bitcoins early...

Uh, where on earth did he claim to be riX? riX's account seems dormant, and a common tactic by scammers is to impersonate MIA members.

He sent a link to riX2000's otc rating to a message to one of my customers on facebook. I asked if he was him on the phone and he said yes.
I can post our emails if anyone is interested?
2050  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Suspected scam! Don't get screwed! on: March 02, 2013, 04:43:32 PM
They sure as hell are valid arguments for me John. I look at all evidence before my money goes any where.

I am banned from otc can he sign a message and post it here?
2051  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Suspected scam! Don't get screwed! on: March 02, 2013, 04:35:10 PM
No I do not know how to check. Here is the email I sent this morning it has a list of the problems I have with it all.

Okay what I am seeing is that there is no protection for me what so ever. It seems to be a poor service in general to me with very high fees. i understand your reservations, I believe the best way for us to gain trust is to do small transactions over a period of time. To be honest it looks like a scam to me there are to many holes in your story, I think I am just going to pass on doing business with you.

The problems I have---
You have 0 feedback as a seller
You require a large up front purchase
I have no way of knowing if you are the person you claim (riX2000)
you are not in the pictures of you mining rig
your gmail account is new
If you are the user you claim to be you are known to gamble (15000 at once)
You wont use escrow for erroneous reasons.
Willing to pay 11% fees doesn't make sense
I also do not like that the word Predator is in your email address.
I posted under bitcoin forums that i believed your service to be a scam and for other users to avoid you.
If you would like to defend your service you can reply to my post under scam accusations. It is entitled "suspected scam! dont get screwed!"

Virwox is currently the most reliable way to transfer from paypal to btc.  There are a lot of fees involved, and time, too.  I think the fees come out to be like 11%, and they only sell whole btc (not .05 btc, for example).

Needless to say, it's complicated, expensive, and not really satisfying.  Yet, they do a lot of business in BTC, mostly to newbies trying to get some btc by using a credit card or paypal.

-- also that user bought large number of coins recently, which doesnt make sense. He claims to mine 250 a month and is meeting to buy 100's of coins?

Wow i think this maybe the first time me and Trade fortress agree on something.

My reply on a different post

------Set me straight If I am not understanding any of this.

I would love a video of exactly how ripple is intended to work. Though I would suspect it would be hard to create a video explaining that 4 guys are going to create a currency give 50 percent away then hold the other 50 percent in the hopes that it gains in value. Then convince people that they should use it and even though 50 percent of them were given away for free! and the other 50 percent are held by the 4 oligarchs of digital currency! that they are valuable!
So basically you have designed what could become the worlds most centralized currency with 4 members issuing and controlling the distribution of said currency oh and you have this little problem too

* Since OpenCoin's business model is to "hold XRP and hope they appreciate", we know that no proposals for fully decentralized distribution (e.g. "proof of work") can possibly be taken seriously.

So we know that you cant be trusted because of the nature of your business model.

Does anyone else see this ending in a repeat of the facebook fiasco between these guys all four of them in court suing one another over who did what and who owns what?

Let me know if i am missing something-----

I have seen you are ripping ripple a new asshole all over bitcoin forums. Communism huh? I see why you would say that. I dont like its structure and i dont see a mechanized release of the coins held my OpenCoin as a solution to the problem, it just cant be transparent enough for me.

Found this service though a customer. I was wondering if any one in the community had run across it before and what was your experience?

This guy clams to be a user named riX2000, who i noticed entered into the famous bet between Mathew Wright and the community. He linked to riX2000's otc rating and claimed he was the guy who had put up the coins in the bet.

He was looking pretty straight at first but when I stated that I would want to start with small transactions and build slowly he claimed that he could only get so many charge backs from Paypal and would only sell for $500 or more.

Here is a link to his page and to the email profile he provided also the claimed otc account.

Just want to send out a warning to the community to try and help people avoid getting screwed over. Let me know if it is a confirmed scammer.
