2041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC or altcoin on: May 21, 2023, 10:38:54 PM
Can't you go for both? I mean you can list btc and altcoin together in your portfolio. I think that will be best combination.
Agreed, going with both here!

The crypto ecosystem isn't about bitcoin only, having to own or use altcoins compliments what bitcoin can not do and its success rides on these altcoins flourishing as well.
Besides with crypto its not all about the currencies aspect only, we could use other services such as the utility aspect of some of the alts there or simply go for the coins with much cheap transaction fees if we choose to save a few dollars.
2042  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [23-05-19] Is Ledgers New Bitcoin Key Recovery Feature Safe? Experts Have Doubts on: May 21, 2023, 09:53:36 PM
I wonder how ledger arrived at this decision, are they saying most of its current users lose total access to their coins and they are returning the favor by bringing this feature to life?

Maybe this is a ploy to try onboard new users to the ledger world ,who would have perceived digital currencies work as good as an email  address were any user forgets his/her password can easily hit the forgot password button and access restored just like that...
But giving them a benefit of doubt,  in a few months to come if this helps them sell more hardware wallets, then they might feel vindicated for this business decision as its a game of numbers at the end of the day for them..so can't blame them entirely !

2044  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats required of me as a newbie in other to grow in this prestigious forum? on: May 21, 2023, 09:00:59 PM
As a newbie I have been wondering what to do in other to grow and contribute to the success of this forum with my little knowledge.
I would say dont limit yourself with this notion of being a newbie,  it's a simple journey if you ask me..all it requires is to read more within and outside the forum on crypto related issues as this helps to broaden your crypto knowledge that will help you become  part of the different conversations that go on here on the forum, if you have the time, can you can also follow some youtube channels that explains some of the new crypto technologies in a simplified manner and this can help someone here when they need some explanation and what not...

Where am I not getting it right?

I need orientation from senior colleagues here.
I think the orientation starts with reading all pinned posts of different boards around the forum to help in guiding everyone of us in the do's and don'ts of the forum for starters. By so doing , you won't be caught unaware of vices such as plagiarism, spam etc and also find your strengths, if you are into altcoins...we have a board for that, if mining or coin collectables is your thing there is something for you here its all about finding your strengthsa and building on it.
2045  Economy / Speculation / Re: It was easy to know the SELL of this week with a simple chart analysis on: May 21, 2023, 04:08:00 PM

When will the bearish bias last?

That I can't say for sure, but as a trend trader, I see further selling of Bitcoin in the near term and the $19,501 (low of March) is the only immediate noticeable target on the weekly chart.

Tell me your opinion about this and the current situation of Bitcoin from your angle.
We looking at this from the weekly which did look bearish on this time line, but if we use multi time frame analysis we shall discover that on lower timeframes markets are actually bullish on say the 4 hour or hourly and this is what am seeing, especially that there was a break of structure on the higher timeframe , a pull back is expected and this is whats expected in the coming weeks as we counter trade.

But if you ask when the bearish will end, no one will know, even the pro traders don't know
Market direction can be known using technical analysis and this way we get to know the market direction, but because  of external  factors such as new regulations,  political influence etc these will always affect the market direction and not allow us to be always right.
2046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: May 21, 2023, 03:01:13 PM
The game between Manchester City and Chelsea is about to begin. I know with football, the win could go either ways and both teams have a chance to win.
Wouldn't agree more, and the fact that Arsenal lost their match against Nottingham forest just made the remaining  games for City less relevant which includes this game against Chelsea .And seeing the current squad from Manchester City , I dont see this to be an interesting match up tbh....no Halaad on starting lineup etc

I know it would be difficult for Chelsea to win Manchester City who is in almost perfect form.
With today's squad, I think Chelsea stands a chance!

I particularly feel about sorry for Sterling who have to face and probably lose to his former teammates. I don’t think Chelsea have any good chance of winning the game. Despite Manchester City having some of their star players amongst the substitutes, the players starting the game is also dangerous and Pep may end up not substituting anyone. Chelsea may pull off a surprise and win or have a draw with City.
City won't be as aggressive as you expect, they need players to be injury free and remain fit enough to be ready for the UEFA final, so don't expect much from these boys today!
My prediction Manchester City  1-0 Chelsea

Damn, so much drama in the last round Grin
Didn't like how the results turned out in this round to be honest,  too many unforeseen results....Liverpool failing to win, Arsenal beaten, Everton who need a win go for the draw...Just too many unforeseen results unfortunately!

Congrats Woodie, you're now officially the Div3 champion!
Will take it, thanks  Grin

Div3 champ
Was a great fight, I'm glad we'll carry the rivalry to Division 2.
I think you will be more lethal in this division and hoping to bring my A game along Smiley
2048  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are we expecting from now until Bitcoin halving? on: May 20, 2023, 10:57:32 AM
Bitcoin halving always gets the crypto  community excited and everytime we get closer to this day, you can see price gradually going up as crypto users stackup  in hope for the big move up. And I think it should be said that every halving is definitely different  and this one having more users in the know about cryprocurrencies I think this one should have a much bigger  impact than the previous one's we have witnessed.
As far as I know, according to history, Bitcoin's halving did not directly increase its price at that time, but roughly a year later. You can check from here https://cryptoslate.com/comparing-bitcoin-halving-cycles-whens-the-price-top-due-this-time-around/,
Halving has happened around February,  July etc and is it okay to make a conclusion that the impact is felt towards the festive season...not sure what the correlation is here, maybe thanks giving, Christmas, or Chinese new year.

2049  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 5000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: May 19, 2023, 10:47:40 PM
Damn it, I needed one point from the last 2 games to be crowned as champion and I was undefeated until then.
2 losses in a row and the title goes to Woodie.
Now you are playing the game like Arsenal using a calculator hoping for X to win then you get your Championship back Roll Eyes

And am not falling for this, duel isn't over yet just as you said, you are "theoretically still in the game" and am hoping tomorrow's games go in my favor to end this.

And I see that Wolves game to be an easy score for me..no way Everton can bring their A game in the last second Grin

I'm theoretically still in the game, but so is Liverpool for the CL spots Grin
Chelsea will be deciding on who goes where seeing that they face teams that are playing for something, and knowing Chelsea....I don't even want to think about it , total letdown Tongue

The main goal is accomplished though, I'll get him in the 2nd Division.
Hoping my luck doesn't run out, but looking forward to a rematch  Grin

Btw if this win comes my way, it had to happen as you were going to be unbeaten if the game went your way just as slackovic and I just had to make my mark lol
2050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I convinced my stubborn neighbour working for a central bank to adopt Bitcoi on: May 19, 2023, 08:54:59 PM
Thinking about crypto..a part of me believes bitcoin isn't for everyone...it has a target market like all things in the world. And being a digital currency,  it will be more appealing to millennials than the older generation, but seeing how you handled the the bad name bitcoin has out there was a great salesmanship from you and hope the banker genuinely bought in on how bitcoin can be good...Besides the money laundering sticker bitcoin always gets, if someone is trying bitcoin for the first time most likely it will have a money trail because its moving from fiat to crypto which should be a starting point to get these guys giving crypto a bad name...and all things equal money laundering will always exist,  be it bitcoin or fiat because someone has put everything on the line and ready for whats coming.

You say you are an experienced trader, why not show us your portfolio or accounts you have managed!

Am hoping you have not been trading on a demo account to claim you have mastered the art of trading Roll Eyes

Btw if you are going to be trading someone else capital, there is no emotions involved here as compared to you trading your hard earned money so not buying this!

Just a heads up, if you are still interested in trading other user's capital without any liabilities, look into prop firms...you are welcome.

2054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether to buy Bitcoin based on monthly net profits on: May 18, 2023, 06:12:42 AM
Tether was a successful company right from the beginning I don't know why they now decide to come out in the public to announced it
Maybe because their profit margins are currently so small especially being a stablecoin and are trying to tap in a much bigger pool to try make real profits without boundaries  which is possible by investing in BTC...and this is a win for bitcoin as this translates into demand and a push of price.

About being successful not so sure about that, I know there is a saying that money is never enough but why would they want to expand  their portfolio to other crypto coins ??
2055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 5000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: May 17, 2023, 09:16:27 PM
Anyway good thing cryptofrka backed  Djokovic  too Grin

I was actually going for Sinner, but he lost before the deadline.
Had Sinner not been on a different bracket away from Djokovic.. I was going to back him only because of his Italian root!

But unfortunately, lady luck wasn't on his side crashed out early...

Man, you were so lucky with Haaland today Grin
I had him to score, you had neither and realistically I'm trailing and should have been 1-0 up.

Huge day for you in our title race, we still have 4 different answers if I checked correctly so I still fancy my chances.
Tomorrow big day indeed, and all I need is to get 2 from those 4 correctly and it's a guaranteed sweet win.
Am counting on these to land
  • Sevilla to win-no need of an introduction,
  • Brighton to bring that big boy heart and put Newcastle in check( prediction 2-1 for Brighton)
  • if not the above, Wolves to push Everton to the relegation net
2056  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it best to have a personal trading strategy? on: May 17, 2023, 08:01:36 PM
Having a personal strategy to me isn't just the key but the ability to stick to it, is.
Agreed this gives you total control too unlike waiting for signals which leave you dependant on such services.

I have been trading synthetic indices for over 6months and I feel it is better to have a working personal strategy and keeping to it, even at the days and times of loss.
synthetic indices, interesting...I have friends that trade these and always complaining of manipulated markets, what's your experience on the manipulation topic?

Btw by synthetic indices are you talking about assets such as boom and crash, or maybe volatility indices???

I know of Deriv and some other broker just can't remember the name,  which broker are  you using to trade
your indices ?

I'm seeking to know if having a personal trading strategy has been able to enhance your trading profitablity and if you really keep to a particular strategy that worked for you even when it seems it's failing you later on and for how long do you stick to this strategy?
If it's a winning strategy then you will always make bank, it just gets ugly if you aren't getting winning setups which means getting back to the drawing board to help fine tune your strategy.

Wow now Djokovic is out too, that tennis question was harder then expected.  Grin Grin Grin
Djokovic so unreliable these days and I knew this would happen but chose to play it safe as everyone was most likely going to be backing the Serbian...Besides if not the Joker who was the best choice nobody Roll Eyes

Anyway better luck next time, and I see a RunX ( Rund or Rune)winning here...

Nah, Djoković  will start winning biggest tournaments very soon. He is just missing proper match fitness due to all the tournaments he missed because of covid regulations.
Thought he had trouble with the Aussies when you talk about  covid, but for this competition he was the defending champion and should have played like it..anyway just have to accept that he won't win every time..

Anyway good thing cryptofrka backed  Djokovic  too Grin
2058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is the solution to traffic congestion on the bitcoin network? on: May 17, 2023, 02:35:13 PM
In the past we have had suggestions of bigger blocks,  using Lightning Network,  using SegWit wallet addresses etc and solutions to the clog already exists  but I think the problem of the congestion experienced the other week is because of selfish developers trying to cash in big while these ordinals (BTC nfts) look lucrative...  but let's take a second to think here, of all blockchains why not migrate to other blockchains with much lower block times than a 10 minutes wait,  and fees get much cheaper on other blockchains  like tron, solona,Binance smart chain  and a whole lot of other blockchains...surely  this is all selfishness!!

2060  Economy / Economics / Re: How do banks generate income? on: May 16, 2023, 10:45:58 PM
The easiest way banks will always make their money is from the so called maintenance fees for holding an account with them.

Other obvious sources of income can range from atm charges, bank transfers, subscriptions to be considered a VIP customer when using prestige accounts, charges on dormant accounts, offering a whle range of loans from mortgage to vehicle financing , foreign exchange  etc

Banks make money unethically by exploiting customers with hidden charges, unfair rates, fraudulent practices and risky investments.
Agreed!
People always thought the Swiss bank where the go to bank for some shedy anonymous accounts but forget our own local banks do all kinds of sketchy transactions just to remain in business and to keep their cash flows coming in.
