False marketing is deceiving buyers
This here 👆👆 seems like a major characteristic of altcoins!!!

And it's funny that of the two camps between Bitcoin and altcoins...you will only find these altcoins doing the heavy lifting of deceiving new entrants to this industry with all sorts of marketing tactics like airdrops, token burns, new technologies to try and overshadow the old timer bitcoin, but am sure we all have heard about the saying "new brooms sweep clean, but old ones know where the dirt is" bitcoin might be the old broom without the new tech but at least it's not headed by selfish devs that just want to make themselves rich with fraudulent marketing tactics and when they get what they want they disappear into thin air and this only happens with ALTs year in year out.

I do not like Elon because of his unpredictable nature, and he has made positive and negative statements in the past about bitcoin. I do not like any meme projects as well, but a car company like Tesla can be at the forefront of the bitcoin market in the future. They have a large user base and resources to accept bitcoin for their online payments.
I don't like Elon Musk either, but that unpredictableness that he possesses could actually make or break Bitcoin and he has done this several times.

But if we ask around if we still need Elon in our corner, I would say yes because his companies can complement what crypto is all about for example, SpaceX could easily adopt BTC as a currency for the future, or maybe make it possible for users to make subscriptions on X via btc ....the possibilities are just endless...

These numbers are way above average  Cool, and am wondering why Musk went on a rampage citing several reasons why he was disowning Bitcoin

and went on with dropping it from its accepted modes of payment for his Tesla EVS & not forgetting the carbon footprint that comes from Bitcoin mining.

With the numbers looking green does this mean MUsk will be back with his crypto rants to push the market price up as he did when he did some damage during his time of attacking miners...

Is bitcoin a legal tender or not. Why?
As much as this was a debate between you & your friend(s), I would say that both yes and no answers were correct as this was a general question without specifics on which jurisdiction this was to be applied to.
By the way, as far as questions pertaining to legal tender go..this has to be directed to a specific country/jurisdiction otherwise bitcoin is an asset without boarders and can be used with or without legal recognition unless it can send you to jail which I would suggest you don't risk your freedom over cyber money  Roll Eyes.

On the other side I was trying to explain to him that a legal tender is that which is accepted by the government and under the regulation of any central bank and this is not so with bitcoin. Furthermore, that one of the reasons people accept  bitcoin for exchange of goods and services is because the coin it is like a digital gold that has value specially for long term storage and also with equal unit of value anywhere in the world, etc. Using gold or diamond as obvious example of things that has value, I asked him a rhetorical question; that just because these objects has value and could be used as a means of exchange does it make them to be regarded as a legal tender?

To clear the air about the whole argument I considered I should share this in the forum to have a clear stand if bitcoin is a legal tender or not.
You really got your friend cornered with all these valid points but seems he was right in some way just didn't elaborate his point well.

1185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Importance of Gambling to the society on: September 18, 2023, 01:17:14 PM
What is the benefits of gambling to your society?
You pointed out a very valid point that many of us over look...gambling and alcohol are among the heavily taxed industries yet people forget that these are among the regular contributors to most of our tax revenues which supports most of our government programs luke infrastructure,  health, school programs etc though this can't be compared to VAT or sales tax....

But at the same time its unfortunate some sections of society have experienced first hand negative effects of gambling which has seen a family member or spouse lose their job and in some extremes life because of gambling 🎰 and will never see benefits of gambling  Cry
1186  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach all-time-high before halving. - BitQuant on: September 18, 2023, 12:42:50 PM
As much as BitQuant might try to be a great sales man with all these tactics to try pursued people into buying of bitcoin, unfortunately bitcoin isn't has speculative as it was back in the day, and you can clearly see that current markets aren't as volatile as they were either...but to get to a new all time high some catalyst or stimuli has to be present and I see the BTC ETF just what we need to push price there as this one will bring in big money and demand & anybody not buying these discounted coins should be ready to buy at a premium in the near future.
1187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Typical scenario when you are losing on: September 18, 2023, 10:37:23 AM
Fortunately/unfortunately for me I have experienced most of what OP has listed in the opening thread and this is quite interesting to see how much external factors put a punter off their game unknowingly...which makes me think gambling needs concentration without any sort of disturbances to play with your A game or maybe we playing the blame game thinking we can always be winners  Roll Eyes

I’m still tracking all my human error that keeps me giving a regular losses when I’m on this condition. Do you have something like this?

Btw it's safe to say one factor that is usually overlooked but plays a huge role in how one plays or wins has to go to emotions...if your mind is distracted and not fully invested chances are high that you can not make sound choices and hence the losses that follow...

1188  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will ETFs pump BTC to $100k soon? on: September 18, 2023, 06:58:05 AM
If these large-scale investment companies join the "Bitcoin train", do you think market prices will "pump"?
Of course they will and knowing very well most of these companies like to copy what the competition is doing this will give bitcoin more exposure and demand!

How would this positively affect BTC in the long term?
The fact that we have people who are worried about having good security measures that comes with owning bitcoin, with a Bitcoin ETF this removes that kind of risk and crypto enthusiasts will be more willing to invest in crypto without a problem as a third party will be responsible for all that.

Do you think it's possible the cryptocurrency will reach $100k if ETFs are approved by the US regulatory agency (SEC) before the halving of 2024?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
Without any of these ETFs and all, we did manage to push price up to $70k which still stands as current ATH...now imagine having to get an approved ETF in the US, this will be massive and if done before the halving then we shall break the $100k easily...
1189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: September 17, 2023, 04:32:04 PM
It seems as though you are leaning towards a win for Ngannou. After 40 vote in the poll 21 have gone for Fury to win whereas 19 have gone for Ngannou. I find this quite surprising as I thought most would have had Fury as the overwhelming favourite to win the fight.

52.5% for Fury against 47.5% for Ngannou (21/19) is far too close to call. Many members here believe Fury will suffer his first defeat  Shocked
Numbers dont lie and am among those that believe Francis Ngannou could land the upset because this lad packs a punch and Fury isn't ready for this one!!

But then again,  Tyson Fury having the champion chip to his name, this fight could easily be judged as a draw to keep his unbeaten run going and give Francis the credibility he deserves...win-win for both of them  Cool

W Why suddenly users opinion changed so much ? Because of 1) they observed current form of Fury 2) the role of Mike Tyson in Ngannou camp became more valuable 3) people noticed something new in Ngannou 4) they just randomly chose the winner Cheesy

  • 1. Never looked at it this way but Fury hasnt been active and could be a valid reason.
  • 2. Mike Tyson will influence his boxing style no doubt about this.
  • 3. His a champ in his sport and Fury stands no chance
  • 4. Beginners luck doesn't happen in a game of sport!

1190  Economy / Economics / Re: Save your environmental economic cycle on: September 17, 2023, 03:28:01 PM
If you are a person who has money to shop for daily needs, I suggest you buy from merchants around you instead of shopping online whose stores are far from your place. This must be done to turn the wheels of the economy in your neighbourhood and save them from bankruptcy, at least you give them space to live.
The problem is stores nearer to us are more likely to exploit you thinking you are paying for convenience, but we the customers know dame too well that buying items online usually means getting good deals that you can not pass and if this means saving a buck then online it is!!!

As of the economic cycle, don't you think every product has its life span , and seeing a decline in demand is normal as it could be a seasonal product or died a natural death as it becomes obsolete as a result of new products.
1191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 17, 2023, 01:14:36 PM
Yesterday all favorites won except Manchester United who once again had a lot of difficulties against Brighton and lost their game 1-3.Other than that everything went smoothly with Manchester City,Tottenham,Liverpool and Newcastle all won their games and made a lot of money to people who bet them or parlayed them together.
Any betting man or woman knows that if a club has so much football politics going on, don't dare add them on your parlays because they might be the spoilers! Btw these results we keep seeing just show how distracted United are and to top it off , of late they have been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, Anthony allegations of beating his girlfriend, Sancho wrangles, Greenwood Getafe the club just has so much going on!!!
And am surprised at the result because these guys started well and I thought they would win not until Welbeck opened their account and the rest is history  Grin
1192  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to sell? on: September 17, 2023, 06:25:14 AM
The problem with us humans is that we like to copy what others are doing, you here someone doing the DCA strategy we want to jump on it, we watching several whale wallets and the second coins move we also think that's the signal to sell...

Tbh if we want to survive the crypto markets,  we need to find what works for us and for me I believe if you bought or caught a low you should sell at a premium when everyone is talking about the bull run, better yet use technical analysis to determine when to buy and when to sell and this way you get better ROI than waiting for an ATH or something.
1193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If only property I have is bitcoin on: September 16, 2023, 09:27:14 PM
right now I'm thinking to myself and my investment and if only investment I have is bitcoin and when I'm no more who will manage my bitcoin investment and how will my family know about my bitcoin investment.
These are questions many of us try to run away from thinking we shall live forever or maybe get a signal when time is up, but in the best interest of our families and whoever we care about you need someone you trust and can tell about your crypto life and any investments made..because if you keep this to yourself, be rest assured that you leave this world with those coins and it will be selfish of us not to think about people we lieave behind.

I was ill for some days and I asked myself a two questions base on my only investment bitcoin, the questions are.

1) since I'm ill should I show my family my seed phrase
2) if I die who will take over my bitcoin since nobody in my family knows my seed phrase.

So I was asking myself different questions because I have no wife and no child, then I began to think and be questioning myself if it will be good to at least tell one person in my family my seed phrase or should I keep having the perso secret of my seed phrase personal or should I keep my bitcoin document on my wardrobe were they can easily see my seed phrase, that time I was of full of thinking, thank God  I recover fully from the illness before i return to forum...no sympathy
Quite scarey if you think of it this way, but when it comes to such did you know you can make use of smart contracts that will store your will on the blockchain, and if after without any interactions from you the will is sent to your loved ones to know what you left for them etc...
1194  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Remitano exchange allegedly hacked for $2.7M on: September 16, 2023, 07:57:18 PM
Something I find strange about all this is that it is all happening within the same period

and strangely enough, the affected coins are all on the 0x blockchains (Ethereum. Binance etc)...

Is it possible that these hackers have found an exploit in the code of a wallet that all of the affected companies are using, this cant be a coincidence  Huh

There is absolutely no news from Remitano for the allegedly hack, but the suspicious moving funds have been frozen
centralized coins can be a double edged sword and in this incident this could be the good side of the sword as Tether is going in for some damage control Roll Eyes
1195  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Crash may take bitcoin to 1M dollar on: September 16, 2023, 06:30:34 PM
I really don't see it this way, think about it...if the dollar crashes because of BRICS don't you think the next best currency will inherent the financial muscle that the dollar commanded..will be say the Euro or Pound to take over especially  that BRICS doesn't have a currency to use for its member countries.

Besides, if the dollar crashes, it's not automatic that bitcoin will again as the failing dollar could be directed to buying gold and other valuable assets to act as a store of value,& btw bitcoin is still a less known asset and wouldn't take advantage of a collapsing dollar hence this 1million dollar prediction is far fetched!!!

Firstly, USD and the global economy won't crash. Only gullible people think of such doomsday scenarios. Secondly, BTC won't magically rise to a million bucks in such a situation logically speaking.

Tip: Speculating crypto prices shouldn't be taken too seriously thanks to the extremely volatile crypto market.
Some valid points right here Cool

Economies of most countries were shaken because of COVID-19 and now the Russia- Ukraine war and not to the point of crashing and these will continue to survive regardless of the circumstances!

As for the 1 million dollar bitcoin price, I think we are just speculative in trying to drum up artificial demand otherwise to get here we need the big boys like multinational companies to jump on otherwise we have a long way to go!!
1196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: September 16, 2023, 12:01:18 PM

Today's Liverpools starting 11 looks weak without the likes of Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk(red card) responsible for defensive duties and looking at how much they have allowed Wolves to come close towards their goal I see this going Wolves way unless the like of Diaz and Nunez are brought on to try and salvage a point or something...and with this result, this is what I dislike about international breaks...they just disturb a teams momentum!!!
Btw, anybody having Liverpool assets, I feel your pain!

The rules are pretty much simple.

What does from the 5th match day mean here Huh
1200  Economy / Economics / Re: Tim Gurner wants Unemployment to increase. Employers have lost their power. on: September 16, 2023, 08:13:18 AM
Isn't the unemployment rate already too high in most parts of the world, and besides if unemployment rates raises then this will force the skilled labour to migrate to places where they are needed forcing employers to pay more for those that remain as they will have the bargaining chip once again as skilled personnel.
Besides, Isn't this been to selfish of Tim Gurner to want so much power over employees, if he wants this them let him pay them well and he will get what he wants.
