2041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Oldest scam in the book can help you make money on: July 17, 2020, 09:40:06 PM
Don't laugh at them OP, you never know when the tables will turn and you'll be the one who loses money.

I agree that doublers are among the dumbest scams right after the nigerian prince but there's a lot of older people out there who are new to cryptocurrencies and don't spend all day in the Internet like some of us here. Let's hope the first time they're scammed they'll lose very little and treat it like a valuable lesson because they will get scammed at some point and lose money.
2042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Institutional Interest in Bitcoin (BTC) and Crypto Markets are Rising...And the on: July 17, 2020, 09:03:32 PM
If there are institutions in here they aren't investing a lot because Bitcoins market cap is very small for an asset. We're talking about a currency with a potential to become a global means of exchange and it's worth as much as Amazon.

Bitcoin should be worth much more and it actually used to have 2 times larger market cap and years and halvings later it's still really undervalued.

What about that twitter hack? Bitcoin didn't do it so what does that have to do with Institutions?
2043  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you prefer to buy bitcoin or do bitcoin mining? on: July 17, 2020, 12:57:13 AM
Buying of course. Mining is too much of a hassle and is too risky.

Mining company scams, preorders, shipping delays.
Additional taxes on packages from China and a chance they get damaged ir seized.
No warranty on mining hardware.

Even if you pull it off somehow they can steal it from you much easier than they would be able to steal coins.

2044  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Signature campaigns and some discussion about seo on: July 17, 2020, 12:46:52 AM
seo is is more based on text, so really does not matter because links are all same and its more for ads

What a campaign gives you is new entries from all over the world but the forum doesn't have a lot of newcomers so it's more of a sudden rush of people that decreases after the first couple weeks.

For this reason many campaigns run only for 1-2 months because in this time a campaign is the most profitable.
2045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter Hackers Seek Bitcoin Donations By Hacking Accounts of Famous Personalit on: July 17, 2020, 12:33:31 AM
They were doing similar things for many years, hacking FB and twitter accounts of various crypto companies and saying they're running a giveaway and all you have to dop is deposit $10 in crypto to take part in it and get more back. One of the oldest tricks in the book.

The only thing that annoys me is not that they hacked the accounts because that's on Twitter and their bad security but that they will now make money of this. People should know better and not send them money but they will because people are greedy.
2046  Other / Off-topic / Re: Twitter hackers are So low IQ. - Many Twitter Account Hacked on: July 16, 2020, 09:20:14 PM
There's a thing with all those hacks and fake news spread by them that their effect is never permanent.

If all those accounts were hacked and used to bash Bitcoin it could crash the price at first as gullible new investors back away but then all those accounts would be banned or returned to their previous owners and people would buy back.

The ones who lose here are those who panic sell when there's nothing wrong with their investment.

If you had a house and some people came and told you it's built on an old cementery and you'll get scared and sell it to later find out there was no cementery there, would you blame them or yourself for not doing the research and panicking?
2047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Coronavirus Help Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency - Debate about with Valutainment on: July 16, 2020, 08:59:11 PM

Don't know if I agree. Its something to get an introspective of the situation with its effects on the global currency market.

You don't know if you agree with Max or the host?

Max is a Bitcoin bull and I like him because I'm bullish myself. To me all the facts he gave make sense like everything about banks that were bashing it and then started buying in secret.

I don't think that the identity of Bitcoi creators matter. It's a waste of time to keep looking for Satoshi because his identity doesn't change the idea behind Bitcoin.
2048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning: crypto related twitter accounts (Binance, Bitcoin, TRON, &more) hacked on: July 16, 2020, 08:47:53 PM
The most disturbing news on the internet for me.

I am curios if they have said any word about this?

TEX-LXRY

I hope you mean the most disturbing RECENT news.

I wouldn't call a hack of a few twitter accounts that don't hold people's lifetime savings or important work disturbing. To be hnoest, I've never had a twitter account and never will. Most "normal" people don't need to tweet.

Have you seeen what so called celebrities are tweeting these days? The stupid shit on that platform is disturbing not the hack.
2049  Other / Off-topic / Re: How the latest twitter hack might be explained by past history on: July 16, 2020, 08:36:40 PM
Now they are claiming that it's an insider job. Someone working on twitter was involved in it. The passwords were to be encrypted even for the twitter employee but the person got a way to store a large amount of twitter passwords over a long period of time and exploited it now for maybe some internal issue or an external influence. It's a real sabotage on twitter and they got twitter in the weak spot this time.

If it was available to all staff in a log there's probably no way to find out who did it. If he was smart he could write down the passess that he needed on a piece of paper without ever copying or sending them anywhere from his computer.

Whether it was a hack or an inside job it still looks bad for the company but maybe it will be a wakeup call for people who store valuable information with companies like google, facebook, tweeter youtube or instagram. All of them can sell or leak your data and say they were hacked.
2050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Both PoW and PoS algos are scams. Here's why. on: July 14, 2020, 07:39:19 PM

Yes. If something costs more than it makes. it's not an asset but a liability. It's not an investment. It's not a store of value. It's a liability.

So according to you miners who mine PoW Bitcoin are losing money? Last time I checked Bitcoin was worth more than it costed in fiat money to mine it.

Add that it also confirms transactions and that there are fees paid willingly for every confirmation and you'll see that the ecosystem is working well.

You pay for a transaction. What does it mean that your transaction costs more than it makes? Cheesy

That's not what I wrote. I'm talking about Bitcoin itself as a so called investment. Miners are the only ones who make money. They have not invested in Bitcoin. They have invested in mining hardware. They mine Bitcoin because people are still fooled into buying it. There is no other reason to mine it. It has no utility. It has value because people have put money in it, but it's still a liability. Liabilities cost money. They just don't make money.

OK, so miners make money.

I bought Bitcoin a couple years ago and made money on my investment. I also know a bunch of people who made a lot of money on Bitcoin. If PoW is a scam, but miners made money and many investors made money, who was scammed?

From a different perspective, Bitcoin is money. Do we really have to keep making money from money? Is it really Bitcoin's purpose to bring you financial profit?
How about some financial freedom?
2051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth going for me? on: July 14, 2020, 07:31:14 PM
When I see a lot of shady bought accounts posting in an altcoin thread one by one my spider sense begins to tingle. Wink

I wouldn't touch that project just because there's so many spammers trying to make you do so.

2052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell me a reason why I should use online wallet. on: July 14, 2020, 07:15:43 PM
I have never owned an offline wallet before, but I know the dangers involved in storing your assets in an online wallet, your whole coins are controlled by the exchange, the exchange can steal your coins and claim it is a hacked job pretty ugly. I would advice anyone who wishes to have digital assets to use an offline wallet over an online wallet. I don't have any tangible reason to give you why online wallet is better than offline wallets.

You have never used an offline wallet but cannot give any reasons to use an online wallet, yet that's what you use all the time? I'm confused Huh

The only reason why people might be willing to use a centralized online wallet is the lack of knowledge to set up and run their own desktop or hardware wallet, and the accessibility. There are people who don't cary around any electronics with them and might want to log in and send funds from work, school and so on.

Some people get lured by referral bonuses and such but that's really not worth it.
2053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.com uses bitcoin cash as default currency on: July 14, 2020, 06:52:50 PM
There are always scammers but bitcoin.com seems always legit. And bitcoin.com is not a scam. At least not directly like fake giveaways.

I just don't find the reason of not buying it. bitcoin.com and bitcoin.net redirecting to bitcoin.org, that's all.

You're wrong, it is a scam just a little different from the ones you're used to.

Roger ver used to sell Bitcoin Cash as Bitcoin on his site and called the real Bitcoin "bitcoin core". If that's not a scam, what is?
A newbie would go to Bitcoin.com and see a big button "buy Bitcoin" and get a forked shitcoin BCH instead.

He was criticized for it and changed it so that now when you go to his site you see bitcoin cash and bitcoin core which is still shady but less than it was in 2018.
2054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the police do if they seize bitcoin from criminals? on: July 14, 2020, 06:46:00 PM
The official thing is to auction it off but you can never be sure what happens along the way just the way they do it when they seize cash.

If they get 1000 BTC nobody will know for sure if they seized 1010 and the 10 got "lost" somewgere. I don't trust people with money because greed usually takes over and they steal. Policemen are normal people hinding behind a badge and uniform.
2055  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest winner during COVID? on: July 13, 2020, 07:09:54 PM
Countries all over the world has been affected by this pandemic, sad to say that instead of helping each other many are choosing to take advantage. Medical supplies like mask ,alcohol, and PPE are so expensive now and even test kits.

In my country the testing looks more like a bad joke than a real deal. All EU countries have bought tests but tyhere's not enough for all citizens so you have to be diagnosed first to be able to take the test otr you can pay for it. I've talked with a few doctors and they are unable to say whether someone qualifys for a free covid test or not.

They are to serve people admitted to hospitals first or those coming back from abroad. This means that if you have a headache and feel tired like you might be developing something you still can't get a free test and those paid ones are over 50 EUR each and you usually need to take 2 to be sure if you have it or not.

It looks like other parts of the EU are facing similar problems.

https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-thousands-of-laboratory-tests-coming-back-unclear-raising-prospect-of-damaging-delays-11992324

Not that I'm afraid of COVID but it would be nice if the government could give us access to free and working tests since we are all paying health insurrance, right?
2056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT TRUST TO TETHER on: July 13, 2020, 06:59:00 PM
Every month (and sometimes more often) when reading crypto news and articles on various platforms, I find information that we should not trust Tether. Most of the arguments are completely unconvincing and uninformative. And the question of trust in a particular cryptocurrency sounds funny, if you consider the entire background)

I'd be willing to educate you about the dangers of using Tether. Wink

Please tell me which arguments you find unconvincing? I'd start with the one where they lied about being backed by USD.
2057  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Keeping it's limitaion Between 9--10K on: July 12, 2020, 09:56:54 PM
it seems like lately the price of Bitcoin will look attractive, I really still see and monitor the price of Bitcoin,
and still go to Altcoin, because if seen Altcoin has a high chance for more profit
And also a higher chance for a much bigger loss since the market cap for most coins is so low and it takes only a few thousand dollars to move the price.

With altcoins you're not only betting on Bitcoin going up but also on the given altcoin remaining popular long enough for Bitcoin to pump and take it along for the ride.

BTC will break 10 thousand eventually but are you all altcoin investors ready to wait holding those alts until it happens and will your alts still exist when that happens is what you should think about.
2058  Economy / Speculation / Re: TA indicates a bull run is coming on: July 12, 2020, 09:47:54 PM
I like how the chart is lining up but...

there's usually more at play than simple analysis can cover. Last time there was no pandemic and no threat of recession. It all can go to shit if stock market crashes on us.

Also, youtubers are startuing to be pretty desperate shouting that trendline was broken and Bitcoin is in a bull run every time it barely moves by 5% up. This makes me think that we are still far away from a real pump like the one in your prediction.

2059  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you make a trade or investment decision? on: July 12, 2020, 09:13:54 PM
The time when I was trying to find a promising coin among a thousand pieces of shit is already over for me. I realized that there are BTC and a couple of dozen altcoins, among which you can choose where to invest your funds. Don't waste your time playing roulette.
I think we have all went through something like that, I remember thinking years ago that I could find a good coin that had a small market cap and make money that way only to be burned at the end, after that experience I reached the same conclusion as you, besides a handful of coins the rest are simply not worth my time and while some may think this strategy is too conservative the truth is that it is not rare for bitcoin to make big movements that can produce significant profits for the ones that are patient enough to wait for them.

After a few years of playing around I came to a similar conclusion. The main difference between mine and yours is that whenever you have a chance to invest in crypto and you have Bitcoin available you should choose Bitcoin.

There's no point in buying alts unless you really know that there's a major event taking place like when BCH was forking into BSV. Most of the time you'll do much better buying Bitcoin than anything else.
2060  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 20-Year-Old Robinhood Customer Dies By Suicide After Seeing A $730,000 Negative on: July 12, 2020, 09:01:35 PM
This is a prime example of not weighing out the risks. Leverage in trading works in both ways, so if you're prepared to go all in without even being bothered about the consequences well I'd say that's complete foolishness. No amount of money is worth a life.

There was no risk at the moment he killed himself. He was fine and his balance was positive. It was a misunderstanding on his part and a failure of the site to make things clear enough.

Reminds me of that movie where the main character thinks the situation is so desperate it's better if he kills his family and commits suicide but when he kills them and is about to end his own life he is rescued.

Usually it's all in our heads and if we were able to leave our bodies and see that whole situation from a different perspective we wouldn't feel like it's the end of the world.

A really unfortunate coincidence for that poor guy.
