2061  Other / Meta / [staff] xandry: may I ask an explanation? on: June 22, 2018, 10:08:11 AM
"calling out" is probably the wrong thing to put in the title. It suggests that Xandry has done something wrong which he has not.
May be you are right, I am having a feeling that it's more aggressive. I changed the title with more polite statement. Thank you for pointing out nicely.

I also don't think xandry has to explain themselves to any of us.
Ok so... taking it as an encouragement (since this is something coming from staff, highly reputable personal for this forum, right?), what if everyone of us starts creating an ANN to reward the reporter (that's what it seems) with 1 merit? Would you think it will look nice? The whole beauty of the merit system is going to be ruined IMO.

So here is the thing theymos has given their thoughts on how they would like the program to proceed but in no way has laid out a clear/cut line on how to do so.
May be s/he trusted our common sense however I think there should be a very clean clear guideline of spending sMerits. Thing is if we use common sense then we do not need the guideline. Of-course we can not expect everything to go 100% right. No one is perfect.

Lol interesting topics especially:

Are you afraid of Death?
How to gain weight?
Do you like gym, guys?

The OPs should add an advertising space anywhere in the original post. People will buy the space to get traffic.

May be this one too (work in progress though):
[Eng: Tutorial] PGP Signature - Encrypt/Decrypt message - Fingerprint <=== https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4059348.0

By the way Vod, good suggestion. For members especially new, this subforum could be an easy section to find their how-to's
2064  Other / Meta / Re: Calling out [staff] xandry for an explanation: Thank you on: June 22, 2018, 09:26:40 AM
A nod’s as good as a wink to a blind horse. Xandry, there's no place you can hide...  Wink
All I am after is, a valid explanation from xandry and I really hope the explanation will make proper sense to at-least some of the members if not everyone.
2065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is best practice for gambling?? on: June 22, 2018, 09:21:06 AM

Fantastic work! It worked correct for me. Consider this as a confirmation. http://loycevsbasement.privatedns.org/Merit/history/1432468.html

PS: I wanted to merit you for the post but then again I thought not to waste one of my merit since you are both a Legendary member and a merit source. By the way, In your mind you can set a merit from me Tongue Good work again bud.
2068  Other / Meta / Re: FAKE TRUST AND MERIT SYSTEM ON BITCOINTALK on: June 22, 2018, 08:55:08 AM
However sadly it’s also corrupted.
BitcoinTalk the system itself does not have anything to do with corruption (I really do not know what you mean). There are few members who can make mistakes that does not mean the the whole system and the community takes the blame for it. Come on man! For one or two or few members (may be), you are undervaluing a whole community of 1,008,300 active accounts.

Active Accounts:   1,008,300

By the way, the whole article is poorly written without giving any number, statistics, data. It's a made up article which reflects your personal thinking, frustration in most cases. Lot's of misleading/wrong information. I am sorry, you have a long way to go before you understand the whole BitcoinTalk.org community.

PS: By the way, I understand this tactics of spreading negative vibe about something to get traffic on someones own webpage or article. It's an old trick.
2069  Economy / Lending / Re: 0.008 BTC loan {Hero Member} on: June 22, 2018, 08:38:21 AM
I dont have much ideas why the fees was that much. the usual fee with current state of mempool should be around 1-2k satoshis however you paid like 15times the normal fee.

Are your wallet settings for sats/byte alright?

Everything seems ok. I found the answer anyway. It's here: High Bitcoin Tx fee: reason? <=== https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4509998.msg40622469#msg40622469

Anyway, I am ok. Thanks for your input.
2070  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: If OgNasty is a scammer... then who can you really trust on Bitcointalk?! on: June 22, 2018, 08:31:36 AM
Am I reading this right? A new user with less than three dozen posts is concerned about a red trust rating? In my mind, it's a throwaway account. Throw it away and start over.
Your point is valid  Grin

2072  Economy / Reputation / Re: What!!! Merit abuse? Or not? on: June 22, 2018, 08:16:47 AM
Seems like something fishy is going on however who knows? If you ask them question then they will come up with any of the below excuses...

By the way thanks for the good work.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

This was a very simple message when theymos explained about giving merits.

And these are the translations (I might bring you more in future) we are seeing through out the forum.

Quote
Why the negative feedback? Flodner is a friend of mine, am I not allowed to send him some merit? :/
Quote
He is a trusted friend he asked for some merit and I did.
Translation: Award merits to friends

Quote
...mostly i gave my merits to who gave me ?
Translation: Award merits who send your merits

Quote
Because meriting is not prohibited and everybody are free to distrubute theri1 merits to everyone without any reason etc.
Translation: Awarding merit need no reasons so keep awarding.

PS: It's a parody post. Merit abusers, please do not use it as a reference ground for your merit abusing activities.

Update:
New translation 1: Award merit to the bounty managers to show your appreciation/like of the project.

2073  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to lock a topic on: June 22, 2018, 08:06:15 AM
And what if someone else somehow locked my topic? And the forum admins are unresponsive when kindly asking for how it happened or a reason why? If anyone cares, I'll share more info/details here...
AFAIK only you (topic creator) and mods/admin can lock/move a topic. A regular member can not do it. I have never experience any exception however if you have then I am interested to hear.
2074  Other / Meta / Re: Application for a merit source on: June 22, 2018, 12:28:46 AM
...it would be people that are distributing merit in a unique and useful way...
I am at the same page like bill however IMO it should be same for both merit source and a non merit source.

I am not saying my one is unique or very useful but when I merit a post (although comparing with you guys I have very little LOL) I make sure I do not focus on the rank. I keep my eyes away (it's hard but I try my best) from the left part of my screen.
It gets really easy when you see the rank and then merit a post (lately I am practicing this a little though   Tongue ) coz by default there are not many high ranked members (especially Hero/Legendary) who bother to post shits.

By the way pugman, I not questioning your merit giving strategy here, I am just opening up my merit giving practice.

The fee to transfer BTC is always high in my opinion, but that aside, I saw this post in technical discussion:
