2061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / January 14th - Today's list of Shit and Scam Coins --- Ed. 1 on: January 15, 2014, 03:38:23 AM
Welcome to the first edition of Shit and Scam coins of the day

1)  PandaCoin - Premined 2%, trying to bank off a viral coin. Low dev support, coin was made through a generator.

2)  UFO Coin - Premined 1.5% Another 12th graders interpretation of a monetary system. Trying to make a few hundred if not thousands of dollars on supporters who just want to see a coin in their wallet.

3)  AllAgesCoin - Seriously, who is coming up with this shit.. Even better who is even following this? With a name like that, it deserves to be in today's obituary.

4)  MarsCoin - The space age is here? First UFO and now mars. What's next alien coin? What purpose do these coins serve. No new innovations, no progression, just a greedy bastard trying to make quick dollars.

5)  Bells - A comedic coin taken after Nintendo's Animal crossing. I get it, fanboy tokens. Although this seems like one of the more sane coins to be launched in the past week, it serves no purpose whatsoever

6)  GrumpyCoin - A catcoin/doge spin off. Trying to go viral like DOGE. But with the lack of imagination or support, this coin will die a fast death.

7)  Digibyte - Premine .5% One of the higher-end shitcoins of this week. With a strong support and developer team, this coin has some appeal. But again, no new innovations or concepts. Another bitcoin clone. With the decline (as of today) of earthcoin, people want to look for a new coin to hoard millions of.

8 CreditCoin - Enough said

Obituary:

CoinyeCoin - Lawsuit has finally taken it's full physiological effect. Developers are abandoning the project, and the site has been taken down. The coin will die slowly as supporters look for the new shit coin.

That concludes today's list of shit and scam coins. Tomorrow i'll have a fresh list of what to watch out for. I advise you to start gathering more information before wasting your time and money on worthless nonsense.

Cheers!

2062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Coinye dead or whats the deal? on: January 15, 2014, 03:22:36 AM
It's not dead.

It's dead, no developer wants to be involved in the lawsuit. Coinye has lost all dev support and will wither and die now.

Sell your coinyes that you have, they will be worth nothing in a month
2063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: COINYE was cute but now is DEAD... lets take a SERIOUS look at KushCoin [KHC] on: January 15, 2014, 03:18:40 AM
Abandon. shit/scam coin

I think everyone said that about doge/qtc didn't they? I'm not mining Kush, just stating facts.

And what has changed with Doge? It's death is imminent

I dont think so honestly. It just has too much hype and interest going behind it. Granted, dogecoin does have its ups and downs, but every crypto has to start somewhere.

The money flowing into doge is not smart money, it's backed by your average joe who thinks it's funny. They are the people who are playing doge-dice and buying high then selling low.

There are people making bank off of doge, but i assure you very very few of them are the ones you see on the forums

2069  Economy / Economics / Re: $1200 Bitcoin by the 2nd week of January 2014 on: January 14, 2014, 07:15:23 PM
One more day.  Not looking likely.  Get the cross and the nails...  Cheesy

I got nothing to be worried about, i have already a safe investment in BTCs from long ago.

I got it wrong, hope no one lost money on this.. wishful thinking eh?

It's always fun to try and predict prices, but most people predict on "gut" feelings, not news or technical analysis.  For us to have reached $1200 something very newsworthy would have had to happen.  There would have been to may bands of resistance to break on the way up otherwise.  When we get back to the $1000 level on Stamp, there are some huge sell blocks to chew through (yes, I know the blocks are moving you techie people).

Next prediction? Wink

We are going through a minor crash, bitcoin will hover around $700-$1000 until the end of January. I expect another big climb towards the beginning of February.

We will see how the news plays out. If bitcoin hits above $1000 for a few days, i would then not expect it to fall below that.

2072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: What are the biggest scam/sh*t coins out there? on: January 14, 2014, 06:57:15 AM
Doge coin is not listed, that was a sure #1 spot. Unless Doge came out after this poll was made
2073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- The Riddle of the father and son - Who Was, is and Will Rule the World! on: January 14, 2014, 06:47:17 AM
PublicJud,

Your example is pointless as there's large pools for scrypt as well and that's always gonna be the case.

But the fact remains that there's way way way more massive hashing power for asics and for merge mined coins which makes those coins (SHA256) much more secure, pools or not.

I'm sure our Frictionless guy can give you a more detailed and technically professional answer to that.

Or MarkM, he's great, but he's a Brit and Brits are sleeping right now.

As I understand it, PoS coin requires a miner to own a certain percent of the coin to have a right to a percent of the mining.  So one pool/miner can't just take over 51% of the mining without buying 51% of the coin.

There are all kinds of ways to hijack any coin out there.

Bottom line is:  No matter how great a coin is, if the has grate is not very high then that coin is unsecure and therefore it's pointless and useless for any kind of mass adoption.

Satoshi knew what he was doing, and the facts are pretty clear but people push a lot of BS to confuse newbies and to get them to pump the latest Shitcoin.

That said:  There are currently only 3 or 4 coins out of some 200 good enough, secure enough and that have been time tested, to be seriously considered by the smart money a coin good enough for mass adoption and for a second ETF license.

And these alt coins are:  NameCoin, Devcoin and ixCoin.

NameCoin died unexpectedly last year [and it's a limited in scope coin] so there's no way it will ever be considered for mass adoption so we're down to just 2 real viable contenders and out of the 2 ixcoin is the best choice, in part because DevCoin is much more diluted and is set to print coins forever.

Like I've been saying for 7 months:  Ignore the noise from all the ShitCoins, look at what's really important, security, cause most everything else is either just noise or they can be easily tweaked and updated, but the inferior unsecured networks of 99% of the alt coins will never be fixed, at least not in time to make any difference.

Buy your $100 worth of iXcoin while there is still time.  I am still shouting from the rooftops but not for much longer.

Yes there is a lot of shit coins, but in some cases there is also great marketing techniques.

Marketing and PR have a lot to do with early adoption, which leads to, mass adoption of y coin.
2074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The 3 Unavoidable Problems for Bitcoin on: January 14, 2014, 05:46:14 AM
I'm sure some other people have the same thoughts about Bitcoins future, the fact is noone knows. But maybe there is information out there that i'm not aware of.

1) Government regulations, Taxation, centralizing, or blantly outlawing bitcoin

2) Government digital currencies, if bitcoins technology really catches on will we see governments forming their own regulated digital currencies?

3) Security. 51% attacks and Quantum Computing (I understand SHA256). Quantum is still decades a head of us.

2076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reward .5 btc for the return of 11 bitcoins stolen from openex on: January 14, 2014, 05:16:20 AM
Out of curiosity, why would the thief return them for significantly less money? (just trying to play devils advocate, I hope you do get them back).

I think he's hoping the attacker feels guilty. He/she probably doesn't.

worth a shot. its all i have.

I hope you get them back dude, even a partial refund. Mr. Grey Fox may be reading this, with a conscious.
2077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins will rise this week. [Speculation] on: January 14, 2014, 05:01:27 AM
get yourself a few DMD we have lots of plans for it, a commercial made by the same company that did trustico's commercial it will be used on youtube and possibly a tv channel plus DMD will have 3 teams

+ System Integration team: develop third party application plugins, libraries
+ Core team: maintain DMD wallet and block chain
+ Business promotion team: contact merchants, forum owners, website owners, game developers to promote DMD
They are PHP, Python, NodeJS, Java, C++ experts who have a deep knowledge on Bitcoin, PeerCoin source code. As a result, Diamond is an excellent combination of the best features that can be found in PoW coin (in Bitcoin) and PoS (in PeerCoin). It is an ultra-fast, ultra-secure, much more energy efficient, feature rich, very business friendly cryptocurrency that is driven by a strong development team and ever-growing community
Many people including me believe that the future of Diamond can be found outside of this forum. It is great to see Diamond is accepted as a currency for donation, rewards in forums, woman-oriented e-commerce sites (fashion, woman clothing, jewelry stores ...), Q&A sites like StackOverFlow, Quora, ExpertExchange ... and games. It is great to see Joomla, Drupal, the most important CMS in the world, osCommerce, Magento, the most important shopping cart framework in the world have Diamond-aware plugins. It is great to see iOS developer, Android developers use Diamond wallet as an activation engine and payment gateway. Game industry is big. I love games. Many people love games. Many people is willing to pay for games or in-game items but they find uncomfortable when game providers ask them for Visa or MasterCard. I believe that small and medium game developers love Diamond because it has all the feature of Bitcoin and PeerCoin and a gamer-friendly name. Moreover, it is much faster. Gamers love high speed things. They will love Diamond because of its fast transaction. It is a conventional wisdom that many gamers can mine Diamond and exchange it with each other. They love what they can control. Also, I believe that third party developers, payment gateway services and libraries that integrate Diamond with games, e-commerce engines and forums/CMS (PHPBB, VBulletin ...) will open up a new developer ecosystem which drives Diamond forward.

Good to hear this, I really like diamonds concept and i have already invested in it. Keep up the good work!

That's a solid fact
