2081  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Brain wallet on: December 28, 2014, 10:15:41 AM
Try to be creative. Write a poem. Or even author a short story. Slip the words into a paragraph or even break it down to several sections. Main thing is that only you can understand where it is hidden. An attacker or even somebody who are not aware might thought that it is just a poem but in actual fact, there are 12 random hidden seeds word concealed inside it.
2082  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: OMG did I just loose $4000? electrum not working on mac! on: December 28, 2014, 10:06:18 AM
Looks like it's getting more and more complicated. First thing first, you mentioned earlier in your post that you have the seed. Use That!

Get somebody who has same version of mac os installed. Get electrum installed on that computer and recover your coins with the 12-word seed that you have.
2083  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much fund for faucet needed for 1 week ? on: December 28, 2014, 09:58:59 AM
For you to accurately come up with the total cost you need to spend per week, you also need to estimate how many clicks from visitors you are getting per hour. You will then need to consider your overall expenditure like hosting, domain renewal and from there only can you determine whether amount you are getting from advertiser is worth it and whether it will end up profit or loss.

Advertisers nowadays pay by per impression rather than per click which I think is better since viewers nowadays are pretty immune to ads. It will be difficult in the early stage and I don't know how you can sustain that but I would suggest you put a cap on the amount of satoshi awarded per day or raise the minimum payout amount to higher level.
2084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Retina Scan Or Thumb Print Authorisation on: December 28, 2014, 09:30:01 AM
I personally don't use the fingerprint authentication on my iphone even though the feature is available which I think is cool. However, I'm a bit concerned here on privacy and for whatever reason I'll still stick to my hard coded password stored in my brain. I would trade off convenience in exchange for privacy.

Welcome to the forum. I started off reading everything about bitcoin on this wiki page and hopefully you will also find that useful

2086  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Price Go Exponential Now that Christmas is Over? on: December 27, 2014, 09:39:33 AM
Everyone had a chance to meet their family and in-laws, and surely someone in the extended family is investing in bitcoins. So now, there are many people who are coming home that have just been introduced to it, and they're signing up for accounts with exchanges to buy some and join the revolution.

Or, maybe they talked about bitcoin with their families and were told, "Bitcoin? You're seriously dumb enough to invest in those magic beans?" and now they're getting ready to sell everything and the price will plummet again?  Cheesy

Consider yourself lucky. I was talking to my uncle and he changed the subject immediately upon hearing the word bitcoin. The frown and look on his face suggest that I'm trying to promote some nonsense stuff to him. And he is CEO in a big corporation.
2087  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hashing everyone's desktop screen and insert the hash in the blockchain on: December 27, 2014, 09:21:56 AM
Here is an idea.
A p2p app that would be hashing all the time anything that shows on your desktop screen.
It would be hashing everything multimedia that happens on your computer and broadcast it to all others.

Are we taking privacy seriously over here? What if I happen to log in to my bank account and it's capturing every single details on the screen?
2088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: owner of the address on: December 27, 2014, 09:17:13 AM
Lol. People are spamming the address for promotion and begging. I just laughed reading at some of the public notes. Anyway, I'm sure the address is still active. The guy must be still holding on and waiting for the right time to sell.
2089  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum simply stopped working on: December 27, 2014, 03:43:47 AM
why do you need to backup the private keys for? Just make sure you have the 12-word seed with you.

If you have, proceed to uninstall electrum. Search for the program files folder to find out if it is still there. If yes, then delete the file. Next go to your_computer_name > AppData > Roaming

Search for electrum folder then delete it.

Start afresh by doing new installation. Use your 12-word seed to recover back your coins.

I was able to find that config file , removed it and now I now can run Electrum fine . but why I had that problem exactly ? should I delete the Config each time ? It dosen't make sense at all to me .

The developer should be the best person to answer your question. But anyway, your case seems to be isolated. I never have any problem with electrum not being able to open or crash and it works great thus far.
2090  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How would you do it? on: December 27, 2014, 03:31:36 AM
I don't know any place where you can find good amount of btc paid for services. Else, get a normal job and work your way through and get paid over 1k per month. If by any chance bitcoin price drops to $200, that is where your opportunity comes
2091  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Newbie need help on: December 27, 2014, 03:24:34 AM
You can find a lot of places to acquire bitcoin. For instance if you prefer peer to peer exchange using paypal payment, you can head to localbitcoin. Else, you can use exchanges like the one mentioned in my signature. As for the wallet, try to avoid using online wallet which you don't have control of it, in case it shuts down or go bust. 2092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet saids: “Stay Away From Bitcoin” on: December 27, 2014, 03:15:05 AM
Everyone has a right to his own opinion.
Everyone can say what they want to but whether you want to believe in it is up to you.
But nobody can predict anything with 100% accuracy. Even the best mind made wrong assumption or even decisions.
2093  Economy / Economics / Re: Dollar coming to an end on: December 27, 2014, 03:10:48 AM
USD Interest rate has been maintained too low for a long time and it looks like there is a pressure within to hike the rates or else overall it is will be bad in long term.
2094  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price insurance on: December 27, 2014, 03:03:12 AM
If a person has 1000 bucks, buy 250 bucks worth of bitcoin. The remaining balance is your insurance *if the price goes down*. If it does happen, use another 250 to buy more. whatever balance remaining is still your insurance in case of a drop. As it goes down further, use that to buy more until you are dry  Grin

It sounds silly because if you don't believe in any of these insurance thing, then use the whole of 1000 to buy at the spot price.

You really have no idea how hedging works, do you? I, for one, would value BTC derivatives. At the very least, I expect a lot of attention to married puts.

Hedging is a form of investment insurance. If you bet 250 and pile up another 500 when price goes down, basically that is done to protect your position.
2095  Other / Off-topic / Re: What should I do with my domain "bitcoinedelic.com" ? on: December 27, 2014, 02:49:36 AM
Turn it into marketplace mainly for people to offer services and work and get paid only in bitcoin. Something like fiverr but only difference is payment method which is using only bitcoin. I always wanted something like that.
2096  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [AUDIT] The Bitcoin Source Code Check! on: December 26, 2014, 02:55:00 PM
I presume it has been done before and I've always been told by others that over the years, coders for the altcoins have already studied that in details in order for them to come up with their own version of altcoins. I hope that is the case.

Nevertheless, it would be great if someone like you could really provide a comprehensive analysis on what each part of the code means.
2097  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't think of it as selling on: December 26, 2014, 02:46:42 PM
Another reminder I always told myself or anyone that I talk to in order to promote bitcoin is that, investing in crypto is a long-term investment. The fundamentals are there, the concept and technology are there, what it needs is time for it to stabilize and adoption to pick up.
2098  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: Bitcoin Price in 2015 on: December 26, 2014, 02:37:03 PM
I won't dare to predict because anything is still possible. It can go up very high but it can also go down in the dump.

But however, what I'm hoping is that if exactly at the same time next year and we are seeing the price maintaining at the 350 - 400 range, then that is indeed good news! Why I say that? Because it means that price is already stable. When it is stable, we should see higher adoption rate.
2099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Don't We See More Capital Raised in Bitcoins on: December 26, 2014, 02:28:15 PM
Also, a lot of people have mentioned that we need companies to pay their employees in BTC, and again we don't see much of this happening either. Again, where do most companies get their money to pay employees from? From investors. So, if they raised money originally in BTC, they'd be more inclined to pay employees in BTC.

The problem here is still the volatility issue that causes price to fluctuate up and down. Also another problem is the acceptance rate. Like I said, how many stores, groceries that we go to daily to get our necessity items including foods and stuff, will accept btc.

I give you for example. If an employee receive wage amounting to 5 btc a month. That employee has to convert to fiat in order to buy most of the stuff. Employers will also have a problem to manage their fixed overhead cost involving employee wage and they can't set the price of product right when you have btc price going up and down like that. Back to the employee, if that person get paid 5 btc and if he/she can go to any convenience store to spend their btc for stuff all price-fixed in btc amount, then there won't be any problem after all. Earn in btc, spend in btc. Sadly that is not the case.
