2121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.61: Significantly faster Flux mining on AMD and Nvidia on: December 01, 2022, 08:44:52 AM
What is wrong here?

--algo FLUX --pool solo-flux.2miners.com:9393 --user t1dh5mybNKAZEAz85PBRpHtMmYXfLX7XX86.$rigName -apihost 127.0.0.1 --apiport 4444 --watchdogscript reboot.sh

Miner ended or crashed. Restarting miner in 30 seconds...

Running miner: lolminer-v1.60

Options: --algo FLUX --pool solo-flux.2miners.com:9393 --user t1dh5mybNKAZEAz85PBRpHtMmYXfLX7XX86.OC3001 -apihost 127.0.0.1 --apiport 4444 --watchdogscript reboot.sh

option '--algo' cannot be specified more than once

Miner ended or crashed. Restarting miner in 30 seconds...

I generated this command when using the generator for solo mining on the site
https://soloflux.fluxpools.net/extras  :

lolMiner.exe --user t1dh5mybNKAZEAz85PBRpHtMmYXfLX7XX86.OC3001 --port 7201 --pool us-solo-flux.fluxpools.net --pass x --coin FLUX

FLUX is not an algorithm but a coin, its ZelHash algorithm.
Every site has generators to run miners, have you used that?
2122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Statistics of recommended retail prices for video cards on: November 30, 2022, 09:24:59 AM
PCGamesHardware report that GeForce RTX 4080 from Gainward already being offered for price lower than MSRP. The original price of €1,539 has been lowered to €1,449 which means this card now selling below German RTX 4080 MSRP of €1,469 (it was a launch price for Founders Edition and some custom models).

2123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Evga 3080Ti XC3 Red Light Problem on: November 30, 2022, 09:16:35 AM

Evga advised me to contact local amazon for warranty.
Evga accepts to check it for RMA if local amazon doesnt help me about it.
But there is international shipping fee + custom fees.
I will write what will happens.

How long will your video card spend on the road?
If EVGA is loyal to the replacement of thermal pads and thermal paste outside of authorized services, then it can do diagnostics in a good service and check all power lines for a short circuit before shipping. If the repair will be expensive, then send the video card to the EVGA warranty service.
2124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Radeon RX 7000 on: November 30, 2022, 09:11:24 AM
It is said that AMD will release three parts, namely Ryzen 9 7900, Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 5 7600 SKU. The main difference between those parts and existing models is limited default power, likely from 170W to 65W.

https://videocardz.com/newz/alleged-amd-ryzen-7900-7700-7600-non-x-specs-and-prices-emerge-launching-in-q1-2023
does that mean it's the same hardware but gimped on purpose to justify the price tag?
News does not give complete information. We need to wait for the tests of these processors.
Not all chips are produced without defects, so defective chips are often used in processors and video cards of cheaper models. Sometimes a new model is even developed for this purpose.
2125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why is difficulty still very high on: November 30, 2022, 09:03:57 AM
Could you even rent hashpower for only 1 hour? Consider SHA256
Looking at Nicehash which is the largest place to rent hashpower

https://www.nicehash.com/my/marketplace/SHA256

You got 2 servers which have up to 0.1205 + 0.0785 EH/s.

What is the total hashrate for bitcoin?

https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/charts/hash-rate

Looks like 250,000,000 TH/s. So about 250 EH/s. So you can rent max 0.7% of the total bitcoin hashrate.

We are talking about other coins that are mined on video cards and they have a small hashrate. Large bitcoin mining pools will not transfer their power to other users if they themselves do not want to do this. But renting video cards for mining is much easier.
2126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So much for PoS from PoW for ETH on: November 30, 2022, 08:59:40 AM
yeah I don’t worry at all about the 300 that is now about 215. and that is with interest jumping to 6.85%

my usa i bonds backed by the fed pay 6.89% and the dollars always stay as a dollar with an i bond.

I have a lot more staked on the i bonds than i have staked on the eth.

more then 1000 or 2000 or 3000.

my gut tells me they will do far better than the eth does.
It is not safe to invest in financial assets in all countries. And inflation in the US is 7%, according to the news. Even now, mining gives 10-30% annual profit, and investments in cryptocurrency now can give 300-1000% profit in a few years.
2127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is the HDD mining hype over? on: November 30, 2022, 08:51:56 AM
Will Google or Amazon abandon their obligations to partners in order to mine the CHIA coin?
If the majority of CHIA miners belong to Google or Amazon, then this will become known and investors will sell this coin, which will result in big losses for large companies.

Probably. But they could always mine CHIA in secret, leaving investors in the dark. These companies have a lot of money and power, so the sky is the limit for them. HDD mining isn't as popular as ASIC or GPU mining, so people wouldn't care if CHIA or any other HHD-mineable coin becomes extremely centralized in the future. At least, the idea is there. Making it a success is another story.

Maybe someday we'd get to see an improved version of CHIA that would bring equality to all miners on the Blockchain? If this happens, then HDD mining would become truly decentralized. I was thinking something like a hybrid approach where the coin could be mined with HDDs, as well as, CPUs. It would be something similar to Digibyte with a multi-algorithm PoW consensus mechanism built onto the protocol. The sky is the limit, so anything's possible. Just my opinion Smiley
Do you really believe in decentralized mining? Decentralized mining is solo mining, which was in 2010-2012, but when mining pools and adequate profits appeared, many private companies begin to make money on it. And its main goal is to maximize profits.
2128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: KaspaMiner - A fast CPU/GPU miner for Kaspa on: November 30, 2022, 08:44:51 AM
This miner is legit, it was the first official miner as i remind. I used it months ago before kaspa became more support. But it is not worth anymore to use it, much slower than the other miners.
And why official miners do not want to compete with third-party miners?
If the coin is popular on modern video cards, then the commissions give developers a good profit. And if you do not release new versions for several months, then the miners will stop using this software.
2129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Faster Resource than MiningPoolStats? on: November 30, 2022, 08:38:22 AM
Hi all,

Is there a faster resource for info on new POW coins than miningpoolstats.stream? Sometimes coins show up there in their new POW coins area that have already been mined to %#$ and are 5 days old…. Just looking for better info.
Probably now telegram channels for miners are filled with information about new coins faster, but the competition among miners is very high. But the forum information is published much later. And most new coins die after a few months.
2130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CHANGING TERMAL PADS ON ASIC on: November 30, 2022, 08:32:26 AM
I put the artic MX4, I tried it for 10 minutes and it seems that the temperatures do not splash to 90°, as soon as I have the chance I mount it and update you.

thank you all
This is a good thermal paste, but I do not like its price lately. For non-hot graphics cards, miners usually use the Chinese equivalent of the GD 900, but if you have achieved good results with the MX4, and you are satisfied with its price, then everything is in order.

2131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 30, 2022, 08:27:27 AM
Staking technology provider Kiln has closed out a $17.8 million fundraising round featuring the likes of Consensys and Kraken Ventures. The company believes there’ll be “exponential” growth in demand for Ether.
Ethereum’s recent transition to proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus also leads Sazbo to believe that demand for ETH staking will “grow exponentially.” His firm cited data from other PoS protocols that see between 50-80% of assets staked, in comparison to the 12.5% of ETH’s total supply currently staked in the Beacon Chain contract.

2132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why is difficulty still very high on: November 27, 2022, 12:16:09 PM
Difficulty measures chain security, the higher the safer and better.
I'm not sure about this.
If 10 million video cards participate in the mining of a coin, and 55% of the hashrate belongs to one miner. Is this safe for you?
Difficulty shows only the arrival or departure of miners, and miners are interested in profit.

Yes but any coin is subject to this risk. However as the hashrate is much much higher it’s more expensive to attack and less common to happen.

It’s possible for someone to have 51% power but that is like what? 5 million GPUs? It would be very expensive to achieve this. So in general the higher the hashrate the better.
The purchase will be very expensive, and renting a hashrate for 1 hour is quite possible.
2133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So much for PoS from PoW for ETH on: November 27, 2022, 12:13:30 PM
Even before the core developers met, they’d determined that Beacon Chain withdrawals, or EIP 4895, was definitely going to be part of the fork. This means that once Ethereum goes through its next upgrade, users that staked ether prior to the Merge by locking them up in the Beacon Chain smart contract will be able to access them, along with any additional accrued rewards.

By the end of this call, the timeline for Shanghai wasn’t any clearer. Some developers want to expedite Shanghai and include only the ETH withdrawal EIP along with a few other smaller EIPs, sometime in March 2023. Then, a subsequent fork would include another significant scaling upgrade – proto-danksharding – and would ship sometime during the fall of 2023.

https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2022/11/24/ethereum-developers-agree-on-what-could-be-included-in-the-next-upgrade-but-not-when/

For a coin that said it would be POS in Dec of 2017 and ended up going POS in Sept 2022 I think a very long wait is in store for all staked ETH.

I staked $300 worth on coinbase that is drawing a big 4%

So it is dropped in value to $234.87 including about $3 worth of interest.

It will continue to drift downwards as all the unstated coins are being slowly sold off into USD BTC LTC and DOGE.

Those staked coins help to anchor the price and slow the slide in value of the free eth coins that are being dumped as I type.

It is well worth it for me to have the $300 staked as it will give me rights to sue down the road.  Figure Dec 2023 to Feb 2024 for the crash to show better.

I say Jan 2025 will be when they 'free' the staked coins.

I think you are very pessimistic about your staked coins. Vitalik cannot delay the process for such a long time, so I believe that in the middle of 2024 the opportunity to withdraw coins will appear. But for $300, I wouldn't worry too much.
2134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Evga 3080Ti XC3 Red Light Problem on: November 27, 2022, 12:05:13 PM
How could I learn which ones are fuse ?
If you don't know where the fuse is, then don't proceed with the repair. There may or may not be fuses, you need to look at the diagram. If there is no video card cdiagram, then you can check the resistance of each power circuit after the throttle for a short circuit.
This may be your mistake, or it may not be yours, but just a coincidence. You need the help of a good master and not advice on the forum.

2136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Selling Rx580 8gb on: November 26, 2022, 04:34:53 PM
If the DAG file is less than 4 GB, then the RX 580 4 GB and RX 580 8 GB video cards give the same hashrate. Even Ethereum Classic can be mined until September 2025 on video cards with 4 GB of memory. Therefore, buying 4 GB video cards in the presence of very cheap electricity can quickly pay off if the price of Ethereum Classic increases several times.
2137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Evga 3080Ti XC3 Red Light Problem on: November 26, 2022, 04:25:02 PM
After replacing the thermal paste and thermal pads in an unauthorized service, the RMA procedure in 99% does not work.
Using a multimeter, you need to check the fuses on the video card. Just because a fuse is bad doesn't mean it's the problem. You can solder a thin wire and test the video card, but usually the test of the video card is done using a laboratory power supply unit with a reduced current so as not to burn other elements in the event of a short circuit.

2139  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is mining Profitable in 2022? on: November 25, 2022, 11:12:52 AM
Hi guys I was reading news that for the first time Bitcoin mining has not been profitable for the big miners who run millions of dollars of machines and that sucks to them. Cause they have very big expenses. So I was saying that it means that this morning for low budget miners will be total loss and a lot of hard work.
In my opinion that Ethereum mining is also not profitable.
I think the biggest expense for miners is electricity bills. If you have cheap electricity, then you will be successful miners. But in many European countries, contracts for the supply of electricity are terminated with miners. It is very important to find a place with cheap electricity and not be kicked out of there. And Ethereum forks are not profitable now.
2140  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I want to actually mine Bitcoin (SHA256) on modern GPUs on: November 25, 2022, 11:07:06 AM
Hey guys!

I know this doesn't make sense but I'm hoping to mine Bitcoin on modern GPUs. I mean actually mining the SHA256 algo. I know you used to be able to do this with cgminer like 10 years ago, but I'm struggling to find anything that can do it on modern GPUs. I think it would make for a fun comparison of how far ASIC mining technology has come in a video on my Youtube channel.

If any of you guys have any tips for a mining software I could do this with I'd be very thankful! Basically any help I can get at all would be greatly appreciated. Smiley

Thank you so much!
/Seb
Bitcoin mining on video cards is unprofitable, because one ASIC gives the performance of a thousand video cards.
Use the Nicehash service. The most profitable algorithm will be automatically selected for your video card, and you will receive a reward in bitcoins.
