how much do you think Digibyte will be worth in 3 months, and why?
There is a good chance we will see a price rise in Feb-May like we did last year. Bitcoin is gaining much attention. We believe 2014 is the year crypto currencies will go main stream. We feel DigiByte hit the market at the perfect time!

What's with the low price recently?  Almost everything else is up today but we're still languishing in the 160's. I don't want to be alarmist but without more buy support DGB will get crushed when cryptsy lists it

It's in a spot to be very easily be pushed down right now to then be able to buy crap loads at a much lower price.  I'm mad coinbase doesn't accept debit card.  I'm so ready to buy more Digibyte.  If I could at least dump these 20 million batcoins I have.  Cheesy

The low price is temporary.  This coin has a bright future.
Yes, every market cycles. I do believe coinbase has an instant buy feature once they have verified your identity. http://blog.coinbase.com/post/55203204550/instant-bitcoin-purchases-at-coinbase
2183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] - What should we name the new DigiByte exchange? on: February 01, 2014, 09:21:01 PM
Digi-Pay.com
Given that most domain names are already registered this is the best we have been able to get registered so far.

Whatever is ends up being I also think removing the - is probably a good idea
The problem is all those domain names without the "-" have already been registered and are not for sale.

Best:
-ByteMe.com
-Byte.me
-Digi.me
-DGB.me

Acceptable:
-DigiTrade.com
-DigiMe.com
-ComeDigi.com
-DigiGate.com

If you get ByteMe.com or Byte.me, im gonna hold on to my DGB for quite. a. while.

Thats how awesome it would be.

Also, why not consider working together with coinmarket.io guys? i like those guys a lot.
We are still taking suggestions, Byte.me has some very interesting marketing appeal.

BUY DigiBytes? Go GET 'em @DGByte.me NOW!

DGByte.meTM
Most of the those names have already been taken. We are working on trying to get something like "byte.me"

In terms of being a bridge between new users and the crypto world I think doge has nailed that perfectly. It may be better to push for DGB as a more serious currency. just my 2 dgb
We will try and push for both. Existing and new more serious investors.

As for the network connectivity, most people are behind a firewall or NAT, thus they severely limit the outgoing connections on the wallet. This means that there are only a few nodes that connect all those other nodes together. Once a node has reached it's limit of connections, they stop accepting new users until an existing user disconnects. In some cases there are way more users than 'slots' available on the nodes, which leads to some users not being able to find any available nodes to connect to.

If I run my wallet and want to use it as a node to help this situation, can I change the port and it will still work? I ask this because I have a range of ports that are forwarded in my router.
You need to have port 12024 open for peer to peer connections. 14022 if you are solo mining or running the daemon.

Created a digibyte.conf file copying the text from the OP and saved it in the roaming folder. I now get 3 connections and it works.

Btw, thanks for the donations. Always appreciated.  Smiley
I tried it aswell and now I get 2-3 connections! I think I can live with that ^^

Thanks for helping me incorrect, Ice_Blade and sakkosekk! Smiley
It will improve over time. We have been making some modifications to the DNS Seeder. The DigiByteD client on the main seed server was down for a bit. We are also in the process of migrating DigiByte.co to a bigger server with another DNS seeder. That could have been your initial connection troubles. We apologize for that!

How do you create addresses without a wallet. It there an online tool like for bitcoin that works for digibyte?  Or does digibyte use the same hash methods as bitcoin or litecoin?
DigiByte uses the Scrypt algorithm instead of SHA-256.

I believe Scrypt is used for Proof of Work but I'm pretty sure the addresses are still created using sha-256.  They do also start with a 'd'.

Something like https://github.com/litecoin-project/liteaddress.org shouldnt be that hard to modify. Something in javascript is likely the ideal solution because a hosted service would let the hoster see the private key. In javascript its all done locally.

Very interesting. The DigiByte addresses start with a "D" represented by a Base58 check encoding. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Base58Check_encoding

Dev Team Update:

We are working hard on finishing the new user tutorials, promo video and upgrading the website /server. We are also still planning out the DGB exchange.

Once we have all that done and we are on a few more exchanges we are going to make a marketing push to attract new users and merchants.

We are thinking of utilizing the FaceBook ad service at first. Since they allow you to target specific demographics such as people who have "liked" bitcoin, or computers or some sort of investment page.

We figure for a few grand we could put the DigiByte logo and brand in front of a few million people.

What do you guys think?

Any suggestions for Ad's, slogans or hot points to attract new users? Or goal is to become a bridge to attract new users into the crypto world.

Don't say anything negative about the business who we are asking for their services.
+1 Yes. They are good for the alt community and crypto currencies in general.
