Brick & mortar refers to a physical retail store not a specific company or chain. We are in LA working on a deal to get DigiByte accepted in 1000+ physical retail stores.

Holy Moly! This is a game changer.

1000+ physical retail stores?

Many people have said this before on this thread: with what? With a $583,662 market cap? (Based on theoretical coin supply and not the real coin supply after factoring in the block discovery issue.) http://coinmarketcap.com/ Who's going to fund those purchases and with what?  And that's not to mention a totally erratic confirm that can last up to more than an hour. Does that sound like something read to go primetime?

Give me a break. Got to get the coin right first.

What do you think drives adoption? There is not a block discovery issue. You are only pulling data from one mining pool.

At this moment the coin is not safe against ASICs and even without them. Implementing new algo will take months.
Managers of those retail stores must be asking the question- is it safe and reliable? In those aspects DigiByte cannot compare to bitcoin...

Why on EARTH would you WANT to be 'SAFE' from asics? They ensure network stability with HUGE hash.. are you on drugs?

Do I really need to explain this?  Some people live in idealistic world or have no imagination I guess.

DigiByte is no bitcoin/litecoin not to fear a threat froespeciaeaca
We are working on multiple fronts right now. The Crypto mining community is tiny compared to the potential consumer base we could be looking at here. The point is we are working to gain very serious attention for DigiByte on multiple fronts. We want mining to be fair. But if we gain merchants on a larger scale than Bitcoin and especially litecoin an algo change may not be possible or necessary. But as of right now it is still the plan.

Folks...  considering heading back to a standard pool for a bit to see if my yield increases.  I've been on P2Pool for several months, but the pool hashrate is too low now to be finding blocks very often.  What pools are everyone mining on these days? Half the list on the front page is dead...  yet there seems to be about 800MH on the DGB network.  Where's it at?  The most I can see is around 20MH on morecoins.

Who knows..1/2 the pools in the op are 404.. somthing dosent seem right about that.

yup, that list needs to be cleaned up significantly. I think it hasn't been touched because Jared is busy with other things lately. Its kind of annoying tho because I needed it myself a while back & its just full of 404.

When I have some time this week I'll try to make a new list & put it over on the Digibyte Forum.
Would someone mind going through it real quick and letting us know which pools are no longer up? We are still meeting with people all day here in LA for the 3rd day.

The website mining pool list should be more accurate on the website.

@Digibyte When a marketplace roles out, doesn't the coin need to have a value for it to be successful?

If we are the first coin on a large level to be accepted on a large scale by in physical stores does that not give the coin value?

As of 2014-06-02 21:03:42

Last 24 hours: only 410 blocks found of a supposed 1440 theoretical programed 60 second blocks.

Previous 24 hours: only 280 blocks found

Previous 24 hours: only 166 blocks found

What would be the explanation for this?

In order to be competitive with ASIS resistant coins (and the few still competitive scrypt coins), on a relative profitability basis, actually mining the coin, DGB would have to be valued at around 120 satoshi, and that, of course, is based on a 60 second block find basic assumption. With blocks being found at only around 1/4 of the rate of what should be the case . . . well, I'll let you all do the math. Blockchain Explorer: http://explorer.cryptopoolmining.com/chain/DigiByte

Something is very wrong with this picture.

This information is coming from 1 mining pool. Not the entire DigiByte network.

DigiSheild in low hashrate have some issues.

Hope the next version fix that.

Good things have happened today for DigiByte. We cannot tell you exactly right now for reasons that will be apparent later on. Smiley

Dont mistake the DGB-Market reaction for a reaction to the announcement. It is the opposite. The hype about the announcement is selfmade and the people are being played by their own minds tricks. Of course an algo change is nothing that implements itsself. It takes time and testing because we all want security for our investment and not some half baked experiment that risks it all. We should all have known that in advance. And OF COURSE there are some of us understanding that and make some quick trades with the insecure hands. What goes up must come down and a little bit of insecureness creates an avalanche. And in these small markets with a 12 BTC Volume it is quite easy to push the price around in the right moments.

The strategy for a rising price is simple: DONT SELL YOUR DGB. Wait for the expected target in a few years. Maybe 10 cents, maybe 1$, maybe 10$.

And to the developers: stick to your target but get innovative. Multi-Algo is the right direction. It takes time and you take a very professional approach in your announcements. That impressed me alot. (but please switch the logo to your suit and of the tie. Us europeans get blinded from so much grace you know? ;p )
lol! Thank you for the feedback! Switching the logo to the suit pocket sounds like a good idea. Smiley

By implementing a multi-algo approach we also open up the possibility of merge mining with other coins on one of the algos!

I'm not neglecting you are doing a fine job! The issue is with gaining interest to buy and hold digibytes by traders and investors in the alt world community. This are the early adopters. For this to happen a coin needs to be innovative, unique in some way, bring attention, have a tendency to rise in value.  DigiByte cannot stay conservative like bitcoin/litecoin and afraid to make changes to the coin itself, like adding new features or at least promise to add them with some timeframe, make digibytes more rare or decrease inflation... The competition is not sleeping, some coins that were developed months after Digibyte now have 30x market cap and 300x daily trading volume.

The algo announcement is good step but I think many people including me were expecting that it was already in the works and not just about the decision.

Looking forward for the announcement regarding investors!

Thanks for the feedback piyany! We are working on cooking some unique things up right now! We still feel we are the most marketable coin to merchants and consumers in the long run. Please also understand the crypto market is highly manipulated at the moment. But once again, thanks for your support and lets get these rocket boosters ignited! Smiley

When 50 state compliance goes threw, and they decide to embrace technological improvements and not fight them, that will be good long term hold. Waiting to see how that all comes out. Remember if we didn't embrace technological improvements, then we would all be still sending telegraphs, using oil lamps & night, and deficiently not be using, exploring & advancing in alternative currencies.

Hey thats my line! But well said.
Very well said. We feel most states will come around by 2015/2016. But there as many opportunities to seize between now and then!
1294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] ✈ DigiShield ✔ v2.9.1 ✔ Multi-Algo mining coming soon! on: May 31, 2014, 09:58:04 PM
These long term announcements are great and all, but Digibyte is going to be left in the dust. The coin will not have value to keep itself up, crypto is all speculative, what it could be, and digibyte is on the wrong timeline. There will not be enough room for any decent value alts soon, BTC, DRK, and DOGE will hold all of the value soon. This is not a pump and dump, the alt world is aware of this, you have established yourself. There is no value in a coin that will be lost in the dust by the ones that "hustle". Change your pinned tweet, false advertising almost. Frustrated that is all, but seriously try to bring value to the coin, if you want a marketplace how is it going to work with no value?

 Huh
What makes you frustrated? What are you expecting?

Please listen to 22langer22 advice. I can support what he says with my experience.

Bringing investors/users/miners/traders is a very serious issue if DigiByte is to succeed. A coin without high market cap value AND liquidity is basically useless in the long run.

The value of the coin is how it is perceived. Darkcoin was not that interesting and did not bring any attention when it was 10x cheaper.

EDIT: It is not good news that we cannot use this announcement to really promote the coin. When is the next announcement coming?

Did you watch the video? We are doing all the above. We are giving more miners a chance to mine DigiByte. We are bringing on investors and we are working on bringing wide spread merchant adoption. What better options would you propose?

1296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] ✈ DigiShield ✔ v2.9.1 ✔ Mentioned live on CNBC! on: May 31, 2014, 07:38:06 PM
We did a an audit of the DigiByte blockchain around the time of the New York convention that revealed DigiBytes in roughly 30,000+ addresses. We are sure there is more at this point. We should do another audit to see!

To those wanting an instant algo change. That is not realistic or possible. It took us almost two months to design, implement and test DigiShield. Look what that did for not only DigiByte, but most of the alt coin community.

A hard fork can be a disaster and the end of a coin if done improperly. It is very dishonest and unethical to not make absolutely sure everything will work. This process takes time. We are developing our own spin-off of the Myriadcoin approach. We are not simply copy, pasting code over. Not to mention since we were the 1st Scrypt coin to implement the 0.9.1 protocol we have a significantly different code base.

As stated many times we are in this for the long haul. We have developed a reputation of trust and transparency with many people on the inside and outside of the existing cryptocurrency community. We do not want to loose that with short term pump & dump gains. When we make a decision we are thinking long term, years from now.

Thank you all once again for your support! We can use all the help we can get right now. Lets get DigiByte to grow organically! Very excited for this weekends meetings! Cheers!

Random question.   How come DGB isnt on Poloniex?
It's awesome to be on MintPal but it seems a lot of coins start on Poloniex and move on to MintPal if they get volume.
This is a very good question! We will try contacting them!
