I still think that DGB have to change N-factor and invent something new. At least you will be the first coin changed n-factor and coin will be fairly mined. Look how ASICs solo mining it now...
There does not appear to be any ASICS on the DigiByte network right now. If there was we would not be having the low hash problem we do right now.

What do you all think about merge-mining with Myriadcoin?

Idiotic idea, pools will dump DGB to the hell because only small amount of MYR miners will claim their FREE DGB coins. Check MON price charts, pools are dumping it regardless of a price. You will kill this coin offering merged-mining, all your efforts will be buried.
I wouldn't call it "idiotic" but I also think this would pin a "Discount" label on DGB. Better finish multi-algo implementation asap. If the chain stays slow for 2-4 days longer it doesn't hurt that hard as there is still only low activity on the blockchain.

Multi-pools have already been dumping DGB for a long time. That is part of the crypto world as we know it. Comparing DigiByte to "Monacle" is nowhere near a fair comparison. We had never heard of them until you mentioned it.

Multi-Algo Mining has several benefits and few if any draw backs. Merge mining has several benefits as well. Most important of which is security. By securing the DigiByte blockchain we become much more attractive to merchants and traders. The more hash we have, the more miners start trading.

We have already closed a deal to put DigiByte well ahead of other coins. We are just not at liberty to discuss the details right now which puts us in a tight spot for the next few weeks until we can go public. The business world does not move anywhere near as fast as the crypto world. And yes, we are legally obligated not to discuss any further details at the moment regarding this.

If it goes multi-algo dev must calculate initial difficulty for each algo and do something with readjustment to avoid instamine by SHA ASICs, FPGA farms, etc...
This is what DigiShield does, the difficulty adjustment code will be adjusted as needed. This is not an issue. Nor is it how multi-algo works. Each algo can only find so many blocks in a row before the other algos must find one. Each algos difficulty is adjusted independently.

I would've rather seen it with Doge.
This is still an option. And enticing.

The way merge mining works is only 1 coin has to implement it.  Once it is implemented people would need to mine DigiByte in order to get both coins, or multiple coins. The key is it would help secure our hashrate.

I don't like it
edit:I think only we hold digishield...

how long will it take that the digibyte wallet works normal. I can't send or receive digibytes.... at the moment
What are your reasons for not liking it? There is no drawback for DigiByte.

Also, when the next block is found which should be soon. Our hash rate has dropped. A lot of people take miners for granted. But this is what happens when you see a massive drop off.

Miners are the key to a successful decentralized network.

We are working as fast as possible here. But it still takes some time.

Everything is fine.
If you have problems with the Mac wallet, a good alternative would be to run the windows wallet in a virtualbox.

that's fine to say if have you windows...

I see here that the last block was:134145:http://explorer.cryptopoolmining.com/chain/DigiByte
Yes, we have the same thing on our machines. When the next block is discovered it will sync. It says it is trying to sync with the network in the mean time.

Our network hash rate has dropped to the lowest point it has ever been since launch. DigiShield is still working but it needs to be adjusted with such a low hash rate. Something in the new 0.9.1 code is causing it to average out at a much higher difficulty than it should.

We are working hard on getting the multi-algo ready to go. In the mean time we are prepping to rent some more hash for a few days at a loss. Please be patient and understand DigiByte is not going anywhere.

If you look at all the other Scrypt coins their hash is the lowest they have been as well. It is like almost overnight GPU miners have left Scrypt all together.

how long takes the time? 10 minutes 1 hour?

What's really important is that it's happening.

GPU miners jumping because of ASICS?
Partly it seems like. Even though ASICs have yet to really hit the market in force yet. Also summer heat has an effect it seems.

Yep, I just checked and I'm stuck on that block too.
What's going on? o.o
I just hope there isn't any kind of attack on the network, also dev seems to be online on forums so i hope it gets fixed soon.
At this point it does not appear to be an attack. We have seen a large drop in hash recently and the difficulty is averaging previous blocks still much more than it should. This would kill other coins off. If it happened to Bitcoin it could take weeks before the next block would be found.

Whats happening to this coin? My pool is near empty and the net hash rate is the lowest i have ever seen it!

Its Scrypt, I very rarely mine scrypt any more because electricity is too expensive here in Australia.

If I mine Scrypt for a month, my bills go up by $200 than if I was mining X11 or x13.

Cant wait for the multi algo change so I can mine again. I used to chase interesting coins then mine digi when there was nothing about.

In all honesty I sold out of most of my rigs, I've got money in Asics and I have bitcoin sitting around in other investments waiting for when the new round of amd cards come out.

Mind you, digibyte, Naut and Casino coin are the only coins I hold in any sort of numbers. Obviously Bitcoin as well, that goes without saying though. Smiley

We are working hard right now on the multi-algo as we speak. We understand people have to deal with electrical costs etc. In the interim we could use all the hash we can get!
1252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] ✈ DigiShield ✔ v2.9.1 ✔ Multi-Algo mining coming soon! on: June 09, 2014, 10:43:43 PM
Unfortunately multi-algo = welcome all kinds of dumpers. Now you just following MYR. You forgot about SMS wallet.

Some people doesn't know a lot of thing regarding how a crypto-currency works. Like me, I don't know everything about the crypto-world. But one thing is sure : I know the basics, when other are saying shit.

Multi-algo = potentially more miners = more trade volume = more secured network = potentially better for merchant adoption

That's all you have to understand. No more! Moreover, even if DGB will be a MYR like, devs will improves the multi-algo system. That's said, it's not a simple copy-paste of MYR, but an improvment with DGB's devs touch.

Tell me if you disagree or if I have wrong, but I don't think DGB is going on the wrong way.

More miners = more dumpers. That's what you have to understand.

Sorry, but how you think is totally stupid my dear. You don't want more miners because there will be more dumpers? So, that's said, you don't want a secured network for DGB. The only thing i can understand from your posts is that you are far far away from the reality of the cryptoworld... because even if there will be more dumpers, there will be more investors maybe because of more interest with all DGB's implementation, don't you think so?

If not, then stay in "your" world...
Crypto world is changing everyday and if you are not changing, you will be left alone on the island playing with yourself.
Digibyte has made a great decision on changing to Multi-algo, no more thinking.
And even greater if the total supply will be cut off a bit, that would benefit Digibyte and all of the believers.

I was skeptical at first.  But the more I though about it, the more I liked it.  If DGB can attract just a small percentage of sha miners with it's low difficulty, its going to be great for the network (and price.)  DGB will be exposed and available to a lot more people.
This is what we are shooting for. More miners, more trade, more merchants.

There are many more P2P pools but the ones I could find in the 20 seconds I looked only had up to 5Mhs tops.

I'm not aware of any multi-pool which currently lists Digibyte as a target...has anyone seen any?  It's possible of course someone just has a large farm but hard to believe they would kept it pointed at DGB all this time.

Here's one more P2Pool node that I can see is still live, albeit without much hash going through it... but overall P2Pool for DGB is in a dire state at the moment. I've been a staunch supporter of it for months, but recently I finally had to admit defeat and move over to a traditional pool....  simply not enough hashrate to find blocks often enough.

http://p2phash.com:9022/static/

Oh yeah...  and coinking.io has been advertising on here a few pages back...  another multi-pool.

Thanks for the update. Will get them listed!

I think it would be great to have a DGB - USD exchange setup on your site just like coinbase for BTC. Maybe make it easier for people to use, like accepting paypal? There's kind of a large annoying wall people have to break through just to get into crypto currencies. Making it easy for people to cross that barrier would definitely increase adoption of DGB.
This is in the works as we speak!

Let's get a new pool up folks! We can then expedite the fixing of the hash issue and be on to the next goal!

YC
+1 We can use all the hash we can get right now. Also for those who do not have miners you can rent them from betarigs!

Just wanted to let everyone know we worked late into the night and we are still figuring out what the best course of action for us to take is. Our main problem right now is a lack of hash. So if you have a miner we could use all the additional hash we can get right now while we get an update rolled out. More hash = more security & stability of the block chain.

Some of the pools dont even exist any more , I went to dedicated, and theres some banner that says theres a problem there, been like that for days :S

Ok. We are going to get the list updated. We also are considering developing a main digibyte pool ourselves so we can make sure it stays operational.
