221  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: July 26, 2013, 04:17:16 PM
4 mod unit 47XX order without PSU - nothing yet, just processing...
Seems the customer who don't want to pay the PSU in a high price finally become the victim of batch#3.

I imagine it is more time consuming for them to test an Avalon ordered without a PSU, because there is an added step of removing the PSU after the burn-in and reassembling the case.
Yeah! Customers time and money loss caused by their delay never worth than a PSU.
Damn these morons at Avalon. I have 2 very early batch 3 orders without PSU, and still "processing".

Yifu the big dick must be very proud of himself. I don't like to cuss at someone over the internet, but in this case he deserves all the scorn he gets.

Whats borderline wrong is lying about ROI. Anyone with half a brain can do their own calculations and decide if they want it or not.

My problem is they are making money off of stupid people (or inexperienced people) that don't do profit calculations and network speed projections.

Mis-representing ROI is unethical.

Are we on same page?

Looks like you're both saying the same thing in different words...

My problem is they are making money off of stupid people (or inexperienced people) that don't do profit calculations and network speed projections. They are screwing their customers to make a boatload of money, under the pretense that the customer is going to make all this money from their magic money printing machines.

They know damn well what they're doing and that these devices will most likely never break even, but they just don't care. You think that is ethical?

It's akin to a scammer selling an investment to a senile old person that they know will not be profitable venture, but they try to sell it to the old person anyways because the old person is more likely to buy it than a rational human being. Meanwhile they make a lot of money, but their investors are screwed from the get-go. Again, you think this is ethical?

This is exactly what I've been saying about Asicminer. Well put though, same thing applies here.
225  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER Blade Sales [Temporarily Out of Stock] on: June 15, 2013, 10:33:42 PM

And this is exactly why these devices are, and have been from the start, way overpriced. Some people keep on harping how Asicminer is soooo good for Bitcoin and all that crap. While the truth is they're ruthless capitalists who exploit the people who fail at maths completely. I guess there is a lot of truth in the saying "A fool and his money are easily parted".

The only people profiting here are Asicminer, and to a lesser degree, their shareholders. I said it before, and I say it again: Asicminer leaves no profit to their customers. Check back in a year and tell me how much profit you made from your BEB bought @50 BTC...

227  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner and their 'magic' SHA256 alogorithm on: June 15, 2013, 08:40:23 PM
No, this is'nt Josh, just a concerned citizen. I doubt that Josh has the time or inclination to worry about what KNC may or may not claim at present. In all fairness to him and BFL, they've never put out any technical misinformation about their products.

Err... here's a partial list of lies/omissions/misinformations about BFL products:

  • chip power estimates
  • chip production details
  • estimated hashing power
  • PCB specs
  • all kinds of part delivery dates
  • product specification changes
  • production capacity
  • shipping schedule

While not everything on that list is strictly technical, it does illustrate how anything that comes out of BFL "PR" machine should be viewed with suspicion. Anyone care to add more?
228  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Closed] Black Arrow's Avalon on: June 15, 2013, 08:15:36 PM
He's pissed because he's not making a fortune anymore.

Did you just post the primary reason why people should not shell out over BTC 100 for a 70 GHs ASIC to be delivered in September?

Great advice!

Ka-CHING! We have a winner!

Quoting for posterity too. See, blackarrow, you just outed yourself there Wink
229  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner and their 'magic' SHA256 alogorithm on: June 15, 2013, 07:39:26 PM
So to any of you that are prepared to swallow the shite that KNC put out: Beware.

I'm not saying they are scammers, but they are dishonest with their information, to put it mildly.

While you may be right in saying this is the "magic" behind KnC:s algo, the way you express your thoughts reminds me of another forum dweller here...

Is that you, Josh?
230  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: FPGA - Icarus/Lancelot on: June 03, 2013, 12:41:44 PM
DHL pickup booked. 10 units leaving China today,  don't miss the boat.

Bought 5 Icarus boards from OP, payment sent. Hopefully my boards went out at the same time.

Boards arrived and signed many days ago, I appreciate if you can come here and give some feedback, even one PM.
Thanks.

Whoops, sorry! Boards received ages ago and hashing happily. Thank you for a very smooth and fast deal Smiley
231  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Openday on: May 29, 2013, 12:33:04 PM
This is BS, they are strong arming me to buy

Please show me the picture where they hold a gun to your head and force you to buy from them.

No? Thought so.
232  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter USB Sales on: May 28, 2013, 07:21:44 AM
I am talking about financial return from mining bitcoin. I am considering grabbing some for the novelty, but honestly just haven't done my due diligence on whether the price point makes sense as a financial investment.

You won't get much if any ROI. You might break even in 8+ months or so, but that depends entirely on how much hashrate comes online in the next months.

tl;dr - overpriced toy with no resale value.
233  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DIY water block to suit Klondike K16 and Burnins 20 (Bitburner?) on: May 26, 2013, 06:22:58 PM
You'll need to create turbulence within the water block. Some sort of baffles, or other system to disrupt the water from just taking the path of least resistance. Adding as much surface area as possible within the tubing, without overly restricting the waterflow will also increase efficiency.

From the OP:

Quote
Mesh will be stuffed into the aluminum sq tube to increase surface area and create turbulence.

Looks like that's been considered already.
234  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike 1 Avalon Asic chip Mini USB miner on: May 24, 2013, 02:23:51 PM
How difficult would it be to attach the Avalon chip yourself -- I assume it's BGA?

QFN48. Please don't assume Wink

You have been a member of Bitcointalk since 2011.
Why did you wait until April 18, 2013, to get out of newbie jail?
Two years of complete inactivity, and now you are "verifying" for us?
What is your company's website?

Different post colouring doesn't make you special... Wink

Please add a column for the country/region each seller operates from (or primarily supplies to).
238  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike heatsink sourcing on: May 17, 2013, 04:35:18 PM
I suppose this won't work with burnin's boards? Could the stock be chosen such as to be usable by both projects?
239  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #1) on: May 17, 2013, 04:29:43 PM
Very believable that some random DHL driver KNOWS about bitcoin and KNOWS that the box he has in his truck has an Avalon in it and then he risked his job and prosecution to steal the package and mine with it for a month.   Then, after mining for a month, he decides to risk his job AND prosecution to repackage the shipment AND HE WOULD NEED TO PRINT NEW LABEL (express labels do not work if the date is wrong) and then smuggle the box back into DHL's system.
Does not seem very likely does it?   So, why don't we look toward someone else who could have STOLEN this pre-paid unit and MINED with it?
Or, alternatively, why don't we try to figure out why an avalon that was COMPLETELY wrapped in the plastic (look at the un-boxing photos) could have gotten full of dust.  And how the dust could have been spread so nicely around (not just piled up near the holes), almost like the fans were running?
Any ideas?

This guy is onto something! But I can't for the life of me figure out what it is... hold on...

/facepalm

That's no pollen, it's pixie dust! NOW I KNOW! YOU'RE ACCUSING FAIRIES OF MINING WITH AVALONS!!
240  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 17, 2013, 04:26:29 PM
I am speaking with manufacturers to have heatsinks made for the Klondike board. Having heatsinks made is going to be less expensive than purchasing and modifying any current solution. I need to know who is planning on purchasing boards, what quantity, and whether or not they would want a heatsink.

Specs are:
100x100x25mm
3mm base
1mm fins
2mm spacing
6000 series aluminum
4 mounting holes drilled, located in center of each 4 chip group.
Flat base/underside

This is a one time deal. Enough heatsinks need to be purchased to cover all the boards, with a few extra. Purchasing additional heatsinks in low quantity will be prohibitively expensive. These heatsinks will not be made available to the general public. They will only be made available to those offering bulk purchasing as I cannot sell these piecemeal. I will be offering as part of a package to those who purchase chips through me.

Group buy coordinators, Large private buyers, and Klondike resellers need to contact me ASAP.

You might want to start a separate thread about this tbh. Should get more visibility that way.
