This is clearly a competitor responsible for these attacks - wonder who?
223  Economy / Gambling / Poll: Pick your favorite bitcoin Dice game on: September 21, 2013, 11:41:03 PM
Since my last poll, there are half a dozen new bitcoin dice sites.   Curious to see how the landscape has changed with preferneces.
224  Economy / Gambling / Re: Player wins a 46k Audi on Just-Dice! on: September 21, 2013, 09:50:58 PM
Well someone could be up 10 Audi's at this point.  Do we know for sure if the big winners might also have put the site profit up high also at some point so as to have won back a lot of their own money.
This specific player under different names has been a new winnter of about 10000+ BTC, he has very deep pockets and an extraordinary amount of luck.  He is not currently an investor (though used to be).  Most of the profits or the site (which are mostly gone) have come from "smaller" gamblers - there are very few whales of this magnitude on Just-Dice or any gambling site.  Who bets 50,000 USD per roll?

"Of course, there’s plenty of ultra high-limit baccarat to be found too. In Macau’s many VIP rooms, there’s baccarat, baccarat, and more baccarat. Many of them feature only baccarat tables, and even when other games are offered, they’re almost an afterthought. Alot of these rooms have limits of more than 1 million HKD per hand ($128k usd) and you’ll often be able to pop in, have a look around and see just why Macau is the world’s highest earning gambling destination.[1]"

True, but for an online gambling site, I don't know any with a high per bet profit limit than 50,000 USD

No you are quite right. What is amazing is the low cost to start a high limit btc site vs that of building and running massive VIP casinos.
Or even running an online gambling site which deals in fiat, the legal issues and the difficulties & high costs of payment processings.

I hope the share price drops to 1.2. Then a) we won't hear from Vycid anymore and b) I can buy cheap shares. Wink

For what it's worth, everyone who got very annoyed at Vycid has been proved wrong and he has been proved right. All the time he said (as did I) that AM was a great company, but was over-valued at 5/4/3 BTC he got shouted down, told he was spreading FUD etc.

Guess what, the market has deteremined the price and right now it's the sub-2 level that was predicted. The market has decided this, not Vycid and all the 'to the moon' AM fanboys should be eating just a little humble pie right now.

It's not to say that we won't have a huge and sudden bouce when AM bring on stream their new chips etc though. This does highlight the stupidity of looking at hash-rates/shares/divs on a weekly basis, as the resulting share volatility is so high.

Until you guys have not see the financial statements for AM, you can not evaluate the company. Period.
Until then, it's all pure speculation and frankly, a really useless one.

Quote
"market has deteremined"

Really, based on exactly what? Colour of the sky or friedcats eyes? Or just emotions and rampant hysteria, present in 600+ pages of useless guessing?

Please put pressure on Friedcat and get the numbers published.
Only then start talking about what AM is worth now or estimate it's future value.

The lack of transparency about the financial statements in itself is a red flag which is a deserving reason to further lower the share price.

Shouldn't this be in the gambling sub-forum?
Nakowa has won 9000 BTC in the last 3 days.  That is basically a mansion or a nice yacht.  This is from yesterday when he won 5000 BTC:

Nakowa ticking the site again.  I was going to make a rape joke about it, but then I saw this:

Kyle, you should really study this flow chart!
230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoins vast overvaluation on: September 21, 2013, 03:14:23 AM
I have an idea for a coin that would make bitcoin a thing of the past. One that incentives sharing instead of hoarding. Let someone come out with a coin that pays out a reward the more it is distributed to new market participants and shrinks in value the more centralized it gets. Get a coin that rewards sharing and punishes hoarding. People will forget all about BTC and it would spread like wild fire.

Now I have no idea how you do that, but you nerds can figure something out Smiley

Maybe instead of mining new coins into existence you share new coins into existence?

Maybe call it seed money. You have a digital plant that has a dollar(or what ever) value associated with it. As you sell cut-lings or seeds from your plant to other new members your plant grows and so does the the value associated with it. If people start hoarding the seeds or what ever then the plant starts to shrink and along with it the value?.

I know there are a million considerations and tons of holes in the above statements, dont be a dick and say it can never work. It is just a concept.

A coin that has its value tied to the number of new market participants and a reward system for sharing it with new people? just an idea.

Let's call it CarebearCoin
231  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: September 21, 2013, 02:23:45 AM
Looks like MtGox has given up the partner track, and is becoming its own bank (more or less).  This information came up in a discussion in French in #mtgox very recently:

[...]

My understanding: MtGox is creating its own financial entity in Europe.  It will take 6 months to a year to do it.  He can't give more details at the moment for various reasons.  It is expensive as well.  They couldn't afford it until this year.  (This means MtGox is liquid as well, for those still in doubt.)

He didn't say how long he has been on this track.  I don't know if he means 6 months to a year from now or from sometime earlier this year.

Getting a banking license is not a trivial task (read: hellishly difficult). Typically depending upon the type of banking services the applicant is seeking to offer (Retail, Custodial, Investment etc) supplemental conditions also apply. It would be pretty close to a Loaves & Fishes event if they (Mt Gox) managed to get one - in Europe - within 2 years let alone 6-12 months.
If they did succeed, it would be a huge accomplishment.  However, the chances are slim to none.

Traded as low as 1.65 today.  This is going to under 1.5 with a bad dividend next wednesday

I strongly suspect FC will make an announcement before then. If a poor Wednesday dividend comes and goes with no news, 1.5 would seem a generous backstop.
I don't think FC cares about the share price. He cares about performance of the company.

Yes, but we're setting records for the least communication just as the most things to communicate about should be happening.

He has released big updates around the 22-23rd of the month a couple times. It will speak clearly of the state of things if he does not.
He will say gen 2 is moving along.  Dividends being retained for R&D.  There will be no precise dates or figures.  Only generalities.  What is that really worth?

Mine P2Pool.  Help test our new node at NastyFans.org:9332.  Just use your bitcoin address for your username.
Excuse my ignorance. but why is P2Pool different from the others?

More action at Just-Dice today - another 700 BTC won (or lost for investors)

Look at that 469 BTC bet - that is over 50k USD in a single bet and won.  Some people are bit-rich to be able to bet like that.  Site is down from 0.65% profit in 0.42% profit in 3 days

0_0 Jesus don't shoot the messenger!

Sorry, didn't mean to sound angry at you.  It wasn't you who 'tickled' us again...  Smiley

It does make you wonder if the max bet should be lowered (though still kept much higher than competition).

Any reviews on beeer.org versus ypool.net?

I am surprised people by these coins considering the considerable counterparty risks involved.  Especially to an anonymous seller.

When these coins are released, you will find that the company is reputable. The artist is a known presidential sculptor and would not risk his reputation over these. I will get back with more information as I have it and am given permission to say stuff.
Bernie Madoff was very well respected also;)
