221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Teleport/Telepathy/Ramchains/SuperNET Core on: April 15, 2015, 09:55:39 PM
If I would have like 2k coins, how much BTCD could I stake per week or month? And do I need to split into smaller amounts to get the maximum stake rewards? The current PoS reward is still 5% right? Those additional Supernet revenues are not active yet ?

Questions questions ..  Grin
yes 5% per year so 2000 * 0.05 / 52 -> about 2 per week
if your connection is good, more stakes wont matter. the issue is on a bad connection you could easily lose out to another node the time you were all set to stake.

SuperNET revenues are not active yet, but InstantDEX should be the first one to start making revenues

James

Ok thanks for your reply. 2 BTCD per week is not alot lol. Ill wait for those additional revenues. Any eta for those yet?

Well 2k coins isnt a lot either, buy more coins for more staking reward  Cheesy

It once was worth alot  Cry

You only lose money if you sell for less than you bought, simple as that. Which direction is more likely for price after InstantDEX is launched? JUst hodl!

This isn't really true. It's not that simple. Let's say you buy stock in Yahoo.com at $100 per share. Now, Yahoo goes out of business, but you still have the stock. Have you lost money?

An "unrealized" loss, is still a loss.

Yes, a valid point, you lose money if the stock/coin etc you hold dies, but I don't think that applies to BTCD. People currently under water with BTCD can be scared into selling by fud and negativity. That's not good! BTCD isn't about to fold, so just hodl until you're in profit before you sell.

I made a proper update to the OP today.

You will see that I've added a list of nodes, the address at which the premine is located, a link to the Bittrex market, and an update on where we currently stand.

I removed the mining pools and Dean's POD certification.

I plan to wait until the end of this week to hear back from Dean about retrieving the XCP fork. If I don't hear from him by Friday, it's time to pursue plan B.

If you have insight or input to offer, or just want to watch us figure this out, please PM me for an invite to Slack.

Thanks for your ongoing support, everyone!

Good work, great to see this coin back on track!! The SuperNET suggestion is definitely worth pursuing.

Keep up the good work!!
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread -100% Original Codebase - Over 70 Active Team Members on: April 15, 2015, 01:18:05 PM

It's working out exceptionally well, thanks for asking!

"When in Rome, do as the Romans."

Scamming the NEM registration doesn't make you a cock, but making a sock to brag about it does though. Unless you post from your socks to show one person controls them all, I say you're talking shit, and what a pathetic little knob that makes you. Prove you have all these socks, otherwise you're so pathetic it's not funny.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | Bittrex on: April 15, 2015, 10:05:50 AM

If you want to keep your private files private the answer is pretty simple: Encrypt the data first.

The vTorrent roadmap should include the ability to reference encryption, even if using third party tools like Encrypt to do the actual encryption.

The seeder rating system should help deal with people that encrypt malware, and people will upload all sorts of crap.

If I want to upload videos of me naked in the shower, then I would prefer it if I could encrypt the file before it gets seeded.

http://gizmodo.com/5977265/how-megas-encryption-will-protect-you-but-mostly-kim-dotcom

Is it a perfect solution? No. But it protects that network users a little more and it gives me a little more protection because videos of me in the shower are not for ISPs to look at or index.

I would also add indexing tools to enable users to not index in certain countries of their choosing. So as a user, I can opt out of anything to do with the USA - whether its uploading my naked shower videos and making sure they don't get listed for download in the USA; or accidentally downloading my girlfriends naked shower video which she uploaded for me to access while she was on holiday in Florida.

Thanks for that info! Sounds like a smart approach to encrypt everything, but how does a regular user encrypt all their internet traffic, including torrent data?
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | Bittrex on: April 15, 2015, 09:59:45 AM
@coins101

If VTR succeeds it will make torrents invulnerable to takedowns.
But people torrenting will still be tracked down, so it is not the full solution.
You will still need a vpn service.

I guess that is why Mega build encryption into their uploads and therefore downloads.......

so why can't you have VPN & torrent client capabilities built into vTorrent? A one stop shop! Other coins are adding VPN, why not vTorrent!

I agree that rights holders are about to get much more vigorous prosecuting jo & jane citizen to create a deterrent effect, and when that happens people aren't going to feel good about paying for stuff they've been getting for free, especially under 30's who'll freak out if they were suddenly charged  $30 for a CD, which is what I used to pay regularly in my younger days.

Whoever offers a user friendly one-stop-shop that offers anon torrent downloading will seriously clean up. Might as well be vTorrent!

edit: as an aside, IMO the only viable route for rights holders is to buy out ISP's on a global scale, then 'tax' everyone via their broadband charges. Like a VAT or GST charged on every MB downloaded, so digital content is given away free, but everyone pays a little bit for genuine distribution to copyright holders. Can anyone seriously be downloading 100 GB a month without downloading a lot of movies, music etc?

Hello all,

Unfortunately, ancientOne1 is right about this issue, I don't have any plan to prevent problem with ISP tracking down users downloading or uploading illegal content with torrent at this point, but when we have torrent implemented in our client, torrents should be invulnerable to takedowns.

Keep in mind that any feature can be implement in the future, there will likely be many more functions add to our client to improve functionalities and not limited to torrents.

My ultimate goal is to bring in and introduce new people to crypto-currency with our project and our currency.

Regards,

vTorrent

Thank you for that answer vTorrent! Your willingness to listen to opinions and keep an open mind is very encouraging! It's always good to think in stages too, so getting the basic torrent functionality up and running first, then exploring other features later (maybe with the help of other devs) is very wise. I have more confidence in this project every day!!

Community takeovers aren't usually successful, from what I have seen so far.
Here the chances seem slimmer, due to lack of community and the takeover announced by the account that has no previous activity.
Just connecting the dots.

has anyone checked the actual tor site today, maybe it's brimming with drugs, porn & buyers as we speak lol
child porn  Grin
(see page 15 of this thread for more details)

what ... I missed that detail. Glad this project is a scam then, better that than another site peddling child exploitation!!!!!! Crypto is a cesspit,

edit: I see nothing on that page about child porn

oh ok. yeah. that will be gone with 2.4.1. the thing thats taking me so long. is im sitting here. bit shifting large ints and converting the binary back to hex to figure out what is wrong with the kernel that at block 77050 it takes the negative version of the what should be checksum modifier

Well done with Trusted Cryptos concept, very encouraging!! Any eta on the new ECCoin wallet?

My old ECC v.2.3 wallet works fine and stakes fast.

can you point me to a download link, the ones on the website have been disabled
thanks

a volume of $ 435 managed a 621% increase

unfortunate only runners up, the top 40 marketcap coins with impressive volume

Only fools sell NXTventure. Every NXTventure asset is literally an asset mining rig, and most of those pay dividends, so the guy who sold $10 must have been desperate for cash. NXTventure is the best thing in crypto to make money, more assets, more dividends.
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will NEM always live in NXT's shadow because it started as a NXT asset? on: April 15, 2015, 07:07:45 AM
What proportion of crypto users who actually try using the NXT wallet end up being impressed? Just a matter of time for NXT.

NEM needs something else to stand out, and might develop that in time.

232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to explain cryptos to the everyday (non-technical) users on: April 15, 2015, 06:57:17 AM
Very good discussion topic! IMO the word 'crypto' is a big negative. Nobody says "internal combustion vehicle", we just say 'car'. How things work is irrelevant to most users. I prefer 'digital money' to 'crypto currency'. Even the word 'currency' sounds too pompous. 99% of people refer to money as "money". Digital is associated with computers, so 'digital money' is the best generic term IMO.

Well, never visiting this forum again. What a bunch of idiots. Including the "dev" who isn't around to muffle the crap out. Cya

it's hard not to think that after nearly every visit to this toxic wasteland, just like after a big night out on the turps ... 'I'm never getting pissed again!', once the hangover is gone you'll probably be back, but just in case, good luck with fiat!!

lol, this topic is comedic gold.

yes it is, but the whole crypto scene is one amazing piece of distributed performance art IMO. Unprecedented, so much money, so many clowns & scammers, a lot of talent and idealism too, all mixed into this lovely load of vile stinking world changing muck

These marginal coin projects are always a crap shoot. if you throw a little bit at a dozen such coins you only need one to do something BIG and you make more than enough back. NXT looked like a joke, but made at least 10-12 millionaires already. I don't think XPRO will do that, but who knows lol
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PRO | The Start of a new altcoin era | Exchange with futures coming! on: April 15, 2015, 12:15:10 AM
My associates & I have been watching closely. From the moment it appeared we had our suspicions. Seems they have been confirmed.
We believe this is not even the second but maybe the third time. It looks like he has dumped all his holdings. Well we have a surprise....
We are taking over.
Details are being worked out. More soon.

We would like your input. Should we wait until after the pow period and then announce our plans and arrange a hard fork.
Or should we cut the pow period and move asap?

On the off chance that this is even remotely legit, just do it now and just cut the PoW. There's pretty much 0 reason to keep that going.

It will take two or three days. The name should change also. If you have a good one please post it.
Swap instructions will be posted when they are ready. Our plan is to show the 'developer' what can be achieved when a coin is supported for more 2 weeks.

are you proceeding with the tor market? without that there's nothing left to salvage here, other than another extremely marginal PoS chain
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 14, 2015, 03:09:12 PM
but you can't explain how monero works in detail either.

If you still have questions after earing this podcast come back here and the comunity will explain the rest Smiley

Oh I have listened to that already, excellent work!! It explains things like how my mechanic reports on the health of my car. I believe it is so because I trust my mechanic, not because I get greasy myself, learn the required skills, and check Smiley Unless you're a cryptographer and dev, you have to trust the experts!!
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 14, 2015, 03:05:57 PM
I am sorry that your explanation did not inspire confidence to invest in it. Despite my totally non-tech background, I know reasonably well how Monero operates, and it should not be impossible to gain the same understanding from emunie, although not from that explanation  Tongue

Yes, I would not recommend anyone make investment decisions from random forum posts, but I suspect you already know that Smiley Everyone needs to do their own research and make their own mind up. I was skeptical of emunie for a long while, but I am excited by their attempt to use the basic truth of the Quantity Theory of Money (MV=PQ) within a P2P network where all vaiables are known in real time, to achieve a worthwhile goal of price stability. Whether they achieve that is uncertain, but if they do then things will change quite a bit.
