variable emission depending on need=eMunie

which is just about to launch

How does it work (mods - again please allow 10 lines)?

It doesn't. So far just vapourware.

Let him explain Smiley

It's not for me to explain how emunie works. I have done my research over 18 months or so, and from what I've read and learnt using the various beta versions I believe eMunie is a serious project with merit, and its chief goal is exactly what you mentioned in your post, elastic supply based on the needs of the system with the aim of keeping EMU price relatively stable, and thus , more useful as a currency.

In 2007 most people dismissed the possibility of distributed consensus on a P2P network, but bitcoin showed that it was possible. The key point is people had to see it work before they would believe it was possible. With eMunie P2P network, ALL conditions of demand and supply within the EMU ecosystem are known in real time, and new supply of EMU created via hatchers can be adjusted up or down to match needs, over time. Obviously that description will satisfy nobody, and as emunie is still closed source nobody will be able to verify the exact details of the economic system parameters until after its launched. Investing in emunie has high risks, especially for non tech people who require others to verify the details for them. You have faith in XMR devs (and so do I), I also have some confidence in Dan Hughes, who is easily researched as a dev on the internet, but yes, you have me toast, I can't explain how emunie works, but you can't explain how monero works in detail either. In the end the average user does some research and makes a judgement. Bitcoin, monero, emunie may all be found to have fatal flaws in the future.

General comment:
In my opinion it is very likely that crypto currencies will be used worldwide. I don't know when and I don't know which. I am just pretty sure, that crypto currencies in general will be used. I also think it is very likely, that the world will not trust on one single technology, but use more than 1 good crypto platform/currency, because redundance is needed for such an important system as our financial system. Also: We don't know yet which features will be needed/important in the next years and that's another reason why it is very likely that not only 1 crypto currency will "survive". So everybody who is truly interested in blockchain technology should stop attacking any other crypt platform/currency and just focus on the development and the different features. This is no "i win you lose" situation. Good technology will survive (of course like always a little bit of luck is also needed, we have enough examples for this in the past).

+1

Very impressive sounding project! Do you have a minimum amount you need to raise from the crowdsale in order to proceed? Falling bitcoin price isn't doing you any favors, which is unfortunate.

how long until the site launch?
it should be today (April 14th), right?

yes, I checked propayments' posts - 3pm GMT

+1. Give these devs a break - they've slaved over coding and catering to everyone for more than a year. Just look at how much work they've done, just as far as community support, compared to devs on most other altcoins. And this is the thanks they get?

It's not their fault that we're in a brutal crypto market. If they had done the exact same thing except launched before Nov 2013, the pricing would've looked dramatically different - even if they had done the same exact things they're doing now. We all know that. We all know that it's a tough market for all altcoins and out of their control. Bitcoin itself is in the toilet. Stop attacking one of the few dev teams on bitcointalk - this forum of hatred and misery and incompetence - that are actually delivering and continue to deliver.

Stop attacking one of the few coins that has a decent change of rising above the sorry mess that crypto has become - in fact, if crypto had more dev teams like this NEM's the crypto market probably wouldn't today be the sorry mess that very few people have much confidence in anymore.

That about sums it up.

well made observation

I hope the NEM devs stop reading this forum for a while, just get summaries from the marketing guys. It's a strange world where talented devs, mathematicians and business people are forced to frequent the same space as immature kids and psycho clowns, but that's how this forum works. Can you ever imagine this mix of people interacting in the real world? There'd be security on the door keeping the dick heads out, but on the internet everyone is 'equal', for better or worse.

This forum is a necessary evil at the moment while the crypto eco-system is small, but the level of toxic behavior here is very damaging, and once a project reaches a certain critical mass (like NXT or Bitshares) it's better to move to your own forum with moderators. Compare this place to nxtforum.org which has standards.

The entire crypto world is dying a slow death. There is no interest by outside world except a few hardcore speculators. People are slowly losing interest.  The only real hope for revival is ethereum. If that project is picked up by some big names like IBM or Samsung, there is hope  of revival (for all coins).

If ethereum fails, that would be pretty much the end of crypto experiment.  By this time next year, bitcoin would be under $50 and everything will proportionally down. In five years, it will be all over with just some isolated nodes and no exchanges.

Take a cold shower buddy! People said the exact same thing after the dot com bust, "the internet was a fad, internet based business was exaggerated", it wasn't true then, and it isn't true of crypto now. People always overshoot expectations, ridiculous crap gets released and makes money from early enthusiasm, then the crash, then reality sets in. Too much mania on this forum ... highs are way too big, and lows are over the top.

Blockchain tech and decentralization is too compelling to be a fad. NEM will do very well, just not in 4 weeks.

Is this coin still a going concern? Great brand potential!

249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 13, 2015, 11:05:14 PM

I repeat my thesis that the inflation should mimic gold, so that new currency could be created at a variable rate depending how much need there is, preserving both the first-mover advantage without which it has no chance to take off, and the late-mover fairness, without which it has no chance to fly.

AFAIK, only CKG has this emission formula. To implement it in a P2P distributed software, might require solving challenges.

250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: (XEM) NEM Speculation thread on: April 13, 2015, 10:53:01 PM
It's a normal price development. Smart traders (sharks) sold their NEMstakes at the beginning because they know they can buy more coin much cheaper later. Beginners (call them fishes) have hoped price will go through the top and now they are completely disappointed what you can see from many negative posts here. This decreases the price and gives the sharks the chance to buy cheap and make good profit later. This is the reality about coins which used IPO/ICO.

Conclusion: Don't worry, price will go up again Wink

yep, that's how it works

eta for a block explorer?

It's already available on the OP.

thanks, so who owns the big 5 mil account? that looks odd to say the least, for an IPO coin.

did the dev 'buy' his own coins?

That's c-cex's address.

Ok, thanks. So who bought out the IPO so fast? Did you buy the majority yourself propayments dev?

any proof, or just your opinion?

Looking forward to seeing this one pan out. Should be interesting either way.

Edit: And there is dumps again *sigh

its 1 man selling to himself to make this coin look undesirable.

dont be fooled noob. put up a buy wall if it bothers you that much

I am sensing some animosity here. I am sure you're stressed about your investment as much as the rest of us.

big uncertainty, larger risk, bigger potential return.

if you can't stand the heat ....

buy wall is a good idea
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread -100% Original Codebase - Over 70 Active Team Members on: April 13, 2015, 10:23:09 AM
I think NXT with its very involved and busy team created the idea that a busy hardworking team makes a coin. This is ridiculous as NXT was siccessful instantly because it created something no one else had till them.

I have been critical because this coin was so adamant it was going to bring some kind of stupid Communism to Crypto. You guys brought it on yourself and can't evade criticism because you actually were birthed out of extreme criticism of NXT, let's not forget.

But now I feel kind of sorry for NEM. The delusion is thick on this thread as the great SS NemTanic slowly sinks to the bottom.

your current opinion of nem is based on your lost keys, and lost stake. why are you posting negative now? you look ridiculous. just learn from your mistake and move on. a coin has value independent of its price, and your lost stake should not not influence your opinion. price after a few weeks is not value
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread -100% Original Codebase - Over 70 Active Team Members on: April 13, 2015, 08:10:28 AM
jeez....too much negativity... I want to see these FUDster/critics make their own coins from scratch...

you don't like this coin? dump it and move on...leave the Devs alone

this is a long term HODL....u watch...

bye for now...

well said, it's times like these that a person gets to choose how they want to live. Do you leave school early, get the first job you can, then party your paycheck away every week until your 30, or do you knuckle down and lean useful skills while you're young, recognising that most of the time success comes through hard work exerted over a longer time period. If you want to party go to your favorite exchange, sort by volume, then start trading. Don't concern yourself with the merits of the coins you trade, just pick the ones with the highest volumes and trade. You might make some dough. If you're thinking 2-5 years from now, then follow coins like NEM, buy as much as you can afford, then hodl. The choice is that simple.

So you equate working hard and buckling down with betting all your money on a very long shot volatile altcoin. LOL

yes, but don't bet all your money on a single coin, spread it around on coin projects that have merit. Determining which coins have merit takes effort, you have to read a LOT of material, much of which is painful, but if you do the work the quality coins are obvious, and you invest in those ones. Sometimes they're not obvious, but if your read widely on many coins you can spot them. I've made money in crypto, but spend hours educating myself on the landscape, and that is hard work sometimes. NEM is not assurred of success, but it;s a quality project with merit.

edit: pro tip, follow smart people, where are they posting
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | Bittrex on: April 13, 2015, 07:27:43 AM
Just as an aside, in Australia we're just on the verge of a major crackdown on torrent downloads. The rights holders have picked their test case and ISP's are being ordered to hand over customer details, rumour has it BIG fines will be levelled out to quell the apetite of aussie pirates (which by most estimates are some of the biggest downloaders per capita in the world). It's taken a while to get here but IMO the era of running torrent clients by Jo Public is nearly over. Whoever comes up with a viable alternative for wholesale downloading of torrents that isn't detectable by ISP's, which I assume is vTorrent client, could potentially revolutionise the internet, and make a bucket load of money. I hope that's VTR.

alright who the * is market buying? ever heard of slow accumulation geez  Roll Eyes

haha, i was thinking similar! This coin feels like a bucking bronco just before the rodeo clown opens the gate. I guess some people want to ride BEFORE we see the torrent tech delivered
